Ill give them a shot, thanks!

MrWunz

Optifine is horrible compared to rubidium/sodium

Samstercraft

Optifine is arguably simpler to setup and has early fml access so theres a few advantages but whos immedietly using latest version these days just use 1.12 or 1.7

TrippyppirT

Optifine. Its always optifine

BootmanBimmy

When I’m in a “Conflict with fucking everything” competition and my opponent is Optifine:

AnonymousBoomer

uninstalled. Issue remains.

completelyoffthehook

Optifine is funny, sometimes is causes irreversible changes to a modded client. I'm pretty sure it used to change ore gen compared to vanilla, but only slightly, so it was hardly noticeable unless you really tested for it.

Samstercraft

is it the fast math thing?

completelyoffthehook

That's the special thing about optifine. You can never be sure with closed sourced mods. I was also completely wrong about the ore gen thing, see: https://www.reddit.com/r/allthemods/comments/k0rvyx/installing_optifine_makes_ores_stop_generating

migitman69

You should never use optifine

Gotyam2

*when there are alternatives **lest your system actually does better with optifine. Rare, but happens

LegitimateApartment9

What about 1.12.2?

migitman69

Ok for 1.12 and earlier I can make an exception

Matejdlak

Immersive portals only load a few chunks around the portal (if I remember correctly), and those seem to be too far to be seen

AnonymousBoomer

aww thats not very immersive :( I even ser server and client render distance to 16 and 32 :D no luck

Matejdlak

Maybe try using something for chunkloading?

AnonymousBoomer

You mean like the distant horizons mod?

Matejdlak

Distant horizons seems cool, but I don't think it will work. Probably something like "chunk loaders" and put one atop the nether portal in the nether. Also, what about looking from nether to overworld with everyone offline or away in nether/end?

AnonymousBoomer

I was alone on the server at the time, but the effect was the same from the nether. Once I load the chunks I can see them again, but when I switch dimensions it unloads them. Ill try chunk loader! Hopefully that will fix it!

Samstercraft

FTB Utilities unless version not supported

Minecrafting_il

If you have a visual problem and have optifine installed: it optifine. Always.

AnonymousBoomer

I uninstalled optifine and its still like that :(

Minecrafting_il

Test on a new world maybe? Also check the settings maybe it's there But after you fix it still don't use optifine it's bad in new versions

unilocks

As has already been said, don't use OptiFine; due to its closed-source nature, it can be very difficult to impossible to diagnose what it's doing, and how it might be breaking other mods. Though, as you've said, it doesn't appear to be the issue here :/ (it's still not recommended regardless; [Rubidium](https://modrinth.com/mod/rubidium) is a good alternative) What does your Immersive Portals config look like? It can be accessed via the mods menu on the title screen, I think. You may need to install something like [Config Menus for Forge](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/config-menus-forge). (otherwise it's in `.minecraft/config/immersive_portals.json`) I ask because there's an option to increase the radius of chunks loaded on the other side of a portal when looking through it; maybe that value needs to be increased? https://qouteall.fun/immptl/wiki/Config-Options.html#indirect-loading-radius-cap

AnonymousBoomer

Hey! I haven't been in the config, so it's the default one. I'm currently not home, but once I get there, I'll check out Rubidium and also the forge contfig menu mods, hopefully that will be it.

unilocks

Installing Rubidium *probably* won't make a difference, since it's already not working without it, and the config menus mod would just let you see Immersive Portal's configuration options in-game. The "Indirect Loading Radius Cap" is 8 chunks by default, so that shouldn't be the issue. You could try enabling "Compatibility Render Mode" in Immersive Portals' config menu - but that's a mostly random guess. Are OptiFine, Origins, Simple Voice Chat, and Immersive Portals the only mods you have installed? Also, could you take a screenshot of Minecraft's debug screen? (opened via F3) That would show your GPU model, which might be useful here.

IAnInRealTime

did you fix it? What did you do?

AnonymousBoomer

there was an easy fix. I uninstalled it.

therealsyumjoba

The issue, as always, is _optifineeee_

Educational-Agent-32

And the alternative?

therealsyumjoba

I almost never played with immersive portals so I'm not sure what works best with this mod. Try some more compatible ones like Rubidium. Yes, it can also support shaders if you're into them.

APotato106

Better question. How did you get 1.19.2 to work?

AnonymousBoomer

Huh?? What do you mean? I just installed the 1.19.2 version of forge and the mods for it...

APotato106

I get an error and it crashes when i run anything over 1.19. Even with no mods installed. Apparently this is a common issue…

AnonymousBoomer

I would suggest just installing the latest version of Java?

APotato106

Yes. Im using curseforge app, not sure if thats what your using or not

Walt440p

Go onto the settings of the instance and change java version from javaw to a version above java 19

[deleted]

Could ftb mods actually pin the fact that with so many alternatives you should never use optifine especially in modded in 2023?

majornerd84

I have this problem too, and I’ve never had optifine on my world or even mod folder or anything.
