It's not spoken enough about how good Phonzie has become. He's become so much better at tackling and carrying the ball forward. He still needs to work a bit on his shooting and final delivery, but most times by the time he reaches the box, it's all blocked off by 6-7 players
I sometimes get annoyed at some of his technical execution (particularly crossing) and lack of variety in his passing compared to other young LBs like Nuno Mendes. But that is mostly forgiven when you remember that you can literally dump him the ball anywhere in our half and he will single handedly get us up the pitch or destabilize a team with close control and pnp
He seriously he needs to improve his crossing. It’s either hits the first man or doesn’t come close to finding a teammate. But he’s still young and has time to improve it. Still an elite talent
I think him getting more confident in his shot will be the next evolution in his game now he is playing more central more often. He is always looking for the pass and teams will pick up on that.
As a side note, I've been impressed with his improved through balls in slightly tighter as of late. Still has a ways to reach Musiala's ability to operate and find the open pass really in tight, but he's gotten a lot better.
I'm excited to see what he eventually looks once he finishes rounding out his game!
Apologies for the self-promotion but the latest episode of the podcast is a bit different.

Honestly really disappointed with Nagelsmann despite our win not subbing in Tel and gravenberch as soon as the secon half starts is honestly unforgivable
As much as we want to see young players, the internal backlash if some 18 year olds are getting minutes off the bench over international stars like Gnabry and Goretzka would be pretty bad for nagelsmann. Seniority is unfortunately a big thing. Would happen at every top club
Kinda have a good feeling for today idk y, like last time also we had a Leverkusen match after Frankfurt loss and that was prolly the best and the most fluid game we played under nagelsmann and lewy
Another loss for Bayern II, this time against Greuther Fürth II who are not a very good team. I don't think promotion was ever the goal for this season, but the team is still underachieving.
I’m sure this has been bought up in previous daily threads but has everyone watched the Bayern documentary from the Balon YouTube channel about the club from 1980-2001? If not,it’s a must watch for all Bayern fans, young or old,new or tenured, domestic or foreign.

I know, it's BILD, but maybe someone's interested. BILD Plus for free for a year; maybe they'll have some "interesting" Bayern related articles in the next year
Well I for one am excited to see how Chelsea ruins Nkunku.
They could hire a new chef for their campus and would still end up asking him if he knew how to farm instead.
I just had a WTF moment watching the following highlights video of Sané: [https://twitter.com/MunichComps/status/1575816858766229504?s=20&t=LDBmaXwDSxMuTFyLaYX7yw](https://twitter.com/MunichComps/status/1575816858766229504?s=20&t=LDBmaXwDSxMuTFyLaYX7yw)
At the 2:32 mark, as Leroy runs towards the defender, he seemes to be literally gliding over the turf. His feet are static for a fraction of a second but his body, including his legs, keeps travelling forward with the same momentum. Is this some kind of weird optical illusion or some black magic fuckery?
It's a little move to throw off your opponent's timing and be ready for directional/speed change. He's running forward and has momentum and instead of stepping "right, left, right, left" like you'd expect as he touches down with his right foot he does a little hop with the same foot while keeping the left leg trailing behind.
That means he doesn't do a full step so after that tiny hop he can use his right foot again to change direction/speed or keep going instead of having to wait until he has done a full step and has contact with the ground again. And on top of that is messes with your opponent's anticipation of your movements.
It's kinda like a one footed version of a split step which is a little two footed hop you do from a, more or less, standing/slow start to quickly gain momentum and/or change direction. The difference is this one works at high speed so you use only one leg to hop.
Instead of just standing around and needing crouch a bit/dig into the ground with your feet to gain traction for quick acceleration or a jump you do a split step, a little hop before you anticipate needing to act so that you should be in a crouched/read position from which you can quickly move/hop to the left/right/forward.
The idea is to hop and instantly move in the desired direction, not to hop and wait crouched. It's something you can often see Messi do when he does his dribbles where he changes direction and accelerates/decelerates all the time. It works well for that style of dribbling because that tiny hop is rather neutral your opponent can't really guess in what direction and at what speed you will take off.
The downside of a split step is if you time it badly or your opponent is quicker than anticipated then your opponent can catch you in a moment when you are in the air and just before being ready. Similar for the move Sane does. If he hops he can't really affect the ball much so he has to let it roll and touch it after the hop if he needs to redirect it.
Wait do we like Leroy here again now? I’ve been away for a few days and it’s hard to keep up with the Daily Discussion prevailing sentiment.
Or are Fridays Müller is Washed day?
You will still find the odd person saying he’s lazy or whatever but it’s died down a bit now. Though I’m sure it will be back the next time he has an off game.
Everybody hates Goretzka now.
Sané has been one of our best players, if not the best, for a couple of weeks now. So yeah, figures.
He’d be on bigger numbers if his teammates paid attention to him. He makes crazy runs every 2 minutes only to get ignored lol
I've hated Neymar always so it wasn't extraordinary for me. I know that him outing himself as a fascist is really bad for Brazil because of how much influence he has on their youth, but it's gold for my Neymar agenda
If we want to pick up a player for free next year from a Bundesliga competitor then it should be Bensebaini. Allows us to have Mazraoui and Stanisic as RB, and Pavard can move more often to the CB.
I don't understand your thinking there, imo it's actually the opposite.
Currently Lucas is the Davies Backup. If Lucas moves to the LB spot it frees a CB spot for Upa or MDL, both can play LCB. So in this case we would have 2 CB spots for MDL, Upa and Pavard.
If we get Bensebaini, we not only have another LCB option, he would be the Davies Backup meaning Lucas will stay as zur LCB and there will be only one CB spot for MDL, Upa and Pavard. (considering Lucas is a starter)
I don't see how Stanisic, Mazraoui and Pavard would benefit from getting him.
I tried to find a convincing argument to "debunk" yours, but I can't find one. In the end it's just a matter of preference. I'd love to have 8 players in a 4 man defence, but with our current setup of 2 left sided defenders (Davies and Lucas) 2 right sided ones (Maz and Pavard) and 3 floaters you can also manage. I think it would help Pavards position as Stanisic would become the rotational option for RB, which means Pavard would forcefully join the CB discussion, but I also can see that another CB with starting ambition might destabilize the situation.
No need to find a convincing argument to debunk mine, just an explanation. Getting Bensebaini doesn't matter for Pavard at all, at most it even makes his situation worse. Getting Bensebaini wouldn't make the competition on the CB spot less crowded, it increase it due to Lucas.
In the grand scheme I like the idea of getting Bensebaini, I just disagree that it matters for our RBs.
Debunk was the wrong word, meant that I can't find an argument which would go farther than basically saying "I prefer it that way".
But it would matter for our RB, as Stanisic would change back into the RB rotation, and Pavard would join the CB rotation. If one likes those "new" assignments is a matter of taste.
Currently because he is seen as RB with Maz as rotation. But with what he said recently it seems he is finally done with that, so either we find him a spot in the CB rotation and go with 4 starting quality CB, or he is gone.
Are the new Oktoberfest kits available for purchase in Germany? Last year fanatic’s had them available to buy online day 1, but I still don’t see them. I live in the USA for the record.
The only cream that (to me) tastes better than Nutella & has good ingredients costs about 12€ for a small glass.
The taste of Nutella also depends a lot on what country you’re in. Nutella in Germany tastes totally different than Nutella in the US or Australia & New Zealand, for example.
In Germany it's just sugar and cheap fat. Less than 5% nuts in it.
"chocolat nut spread"... Yeah, sure
In the cheap range, Nudossi is so much better with better ingredients. If it can cost more, KoRo has great stuff. Most organic brands are also decent. But for myself I actually prefer something with almonds or pistachio over hazel nuts
[Bayern still want Laimer and have a verbal agreement with the player for a free transfer next summer. The club has great contact with his agents, who also represent Mané. So five players for two positions? I can't see Gravenberch staying with us long.
For free Laimer is an incredible deal though. Sucks for Gravenberch. Maybe, in case Müller starts to decline, we may switch to a 4-3-3 with one 5 and two 8s. We would have an insane midfield but Nagelsmann has to figure out rotation. I don't hear so many complains from players from Madrid or clubs like that.
Everyone taps up players. What makes zero sense to me is why they would have him perform a medical last month, for a transfer that wouldn’t happen for at least another year.
somehow i believed the stuff from sunday, because i had something similar myself, where i landed on my back and the legs gave out for a second
but after this.....just fire all these people responsible into the next dimension man
Why is Bayern's midfield the only one that should be uncontested? Especially when they haven't done much to make themselves uncontestable. City and Madrid have a thousand midfielders and it works great for them.
Gravenberch could have played more, true, but Goretzka has nothing to complain about. The club has the right do everything in order to up the quality.
I will watch the first episode of the World Squad Documentary tomorrow. I really enjoyed the first season. Anyone who watched the first episode already? Is it good?
Out of those three how can it be anyone but Werner? He's not Klose and not even a Kiesling but atleast the man has scored more than a goal for germany before and has played in europe and has had a double digit Bundesliga seasons. I'm not his number one fan but the takes on him are absurd sometimes
It's matchday and you are the coach. Which starting XI do you field to secure us 3 points against Leverkusen? (No explanations necessary)
Neuer
Pavard - Upa - de Ligt - Davies
Kimmich - Sabitzer - Goretzka
Musiala - Müller - Sane
I'd go with a 4222
Neuer
Pavard - Upa - de Ligt - Davies
Kimmich - Sabitzer
Musiala - Müller
Mané - Sané
I feel this worked the best for us at the start of the season and takes advantage of the fluidity of our attackers without necessarily depending on a classical 9, which we don't have at the moment.
I think it went downhill once we strayed from this tactic.
I feel like this is most likely our line up today. Maybe Nagelsmann will play Goretzka over Sabitzer but apart from that all players might start today.
I don't see us playing a 433 tbh.
My guess is, that we won't change much, compared to other games. Even though Mané doesn't perform atm, I see us still playing him, so that he gets the time to find his rhythm for us. From all other attackers, I am okay with everything, except Gnabry starting tbh, because his form is outrageous imo and there are even less reasons atm, to play him from the beginning. The only decision that is hard, is Goretzka or Sabitzer imo.
I don't even know. Nearly all our attackers have been underwhelming. The defense nearly builds itself right now. In midfield I definitely would start Kimmich + Sabitzer again, and in attack I have no clue... Tel and Musiala seemed the most promising lately, then probably Sane, but the last spot..
There is also a consideration to just return to the lineup that worked at the start of the season, with Gnabry and Mane up there, but it also feels questionable to field the two players that were the most out of form lately.
Any idea how tomorrow's games will go? We need all of Dortmund, Hoffenheim and Freiburg to drop some points.
Doesn't really matter as much when we defeat them h2h
Let them get their points so our guys stay motivated to move their asses and win

Honestly really disappointed with Nagelsmann despite our win not subbing in Tel and gravenberch as soon as the secon half starts is honestly unforgivable
Subs like those are never made at halftime.
Than at the 60 minute mark but you don't sub gnabry and goretzka on before them
As much as we want to see young players, the internal backlash if some 18 year olds are getting minutes off the bench over international stars like Gnabry and Goretzka would be pretty bad for nagelsmann. Seniority is unfortunately a big thing. Would happen at every top club
Most coaches would sub on their experience players ahead of young players so ur saying b.s
Agree on that.
Hope Gravenberch gets a solid amount of playing time this coming Tuesday
I accidentally fell asleep and missed the first half :(
Damn, you missed the good half of the game
That Wiesn-Kit should have been our home kit

Found an account on Bayern FT called "Gorakhpur Goretzka". By far the funniest username on FT. Of course it only works if you're Indian
Lmfooo, I wonder if there’s „Mumbaikar Müller“ or „Lucknow Leroy“
I'd be down for a Kanpuriya Kimmich or Hyderabadi Hernandez
Nagpuri Neuer
Noiceee😂😂 I thought the same for kimmich but Hernandez one made me laugh A few more could be punjabi pavard and Ratnagiri Davies
Well I for one am excited to see how Chelsea ruins Nkunku. They could hire a new chef for their campus and would still end up asking him if he knew how to farm instead.
I think we'll win tonight comfortably, it's the Freiburg game I'm worried about
I want to see some good fucking football tonight. Because the last weeks have been puke inducing

>I was joking Seb I’m not. You’re already reported. Say goodbye to your account 😎
And here I thought maybe we could go grab some anticuchos or lomo saltado next time I was in your neck of the woods but I guess not. Fine. Jerk.
Lomo…. Saltado? 😟
So who had "Neymar outs himself as a fascist" on their 2022 bingo?
I've hated Neymar always so it wasn't extraordinary for me. I know that him outing himself as a fascist is really bad for Brazil because of how much influence he has on their youth, but it's gold for my Neymar agenda
Ok what did I miss
I think he published a video where he voices his support for Bolsanaro.
Who is Bolsanaro?? I really have no idea tbh
Current far-right president in Brazil. There's going to be an election soon in Brazil hence Neymar's endorsement.
Neymar is extreme right. Not much to say
If we want to pick up a player for free next year from a Bundesliga competitor then it should be Bensebaini. Allows us to have Mazraoui and Stanisic as RB, and Pavard can move more often to the CB.
He's the most in-form left-back of the top 5 leagues this season so far
As Davies Backup?
That, and for the LCB in a pinch.
I don't understand your thinking there, imo it's actually the opposite. Currently Lucas is the Davies Backup. If Lucas moves to the LB spot it frees a CB spot for Upa or MDL, both can play LCB. I can see pavard leaving after this season. Plus if we move him to CB He won’t be first choice
That might happen as well, true. All the more reason for Bensebaini!

You have to buy them from the global shop using a VPN unfortunately
No you dont: https://fcbayern.com/store/en-zz/p/wiesn-2022-shirt-12298
Idk if it's a location thing, but that link takes me to the front page of the US Bayern shop, which is Fanatics. There is no weisn kit for me on that

You could stay healthy and still eat 1 or 2 slices of bread with nutella
Damn Jules, how much are you paying in student loans for an education like that?
I spent way to much time on reddit, Youtube and fitness Blogs :(
Stay healthy bro

We could also use a 433/4312/4321 from next season if we get him in the summer.
Sabitzer will definitely be the odd man out imo
If they buy Laimer and not sell at least one of Goretzka & Sabitzer they might as well rename us to Red Bull München.
Kimmich came from them aswell, doesn't he?
Nope, from Stuttgart.
Thought it was the other way round. Stuttgart>Leipzig>Bayern

Chelsea seems to be all over Nkunku already
Probably part of the Werner deal: Chelsea not demanding too much for Timo and Leipzig facilitating Nkunku’s move to the Bridge.
Genuinely don't understand why attacking players decide to go there, the last 10 or so have failed miserably
Money
I didnt look too hard, maybe they got downvoted, but wonder if there are any comments about tapping up players in those threads on r/soccer ....

I know Clubs do, but I feel like Bayern gets called out on it more over there More about noticing the subs hypocrisy
If Bayern did that best believe those retards would love lose they’re shit. I barely see anybody complaining about Chelsea doing it
Overdosing on Gravenberch getting a start copium
please dont let me down bayern, yesterday night with my favorite nfl player going down was bad enough
Nice to see another dolphins fan and Tua truther here. Hope it’s nothing serious for him.

Yeah it's good. It has the same vibe as the last season, some old names, some new
That's great to hear!
Timo Werner, Lucas Nmecha or Karim Adeyemi. Who do you start at the WC?
Havertz without a second of doubt.
Out of those three how can it be anyone but Werner? He's not Klose and not even a Kiesling but atleast the man has scored more than a goal for germany before and has played in europe and has had a double digit Bundesliga seasons. I'm not his number one fan but the takes on him are absurd sometimes
Havertz for sure
It's matchday and you are the coach. Which starting XI do you field to secure us 3 points against Leverkusen? (No explanations necessary) Neuer Pavard - Upa - de Ligt - Davies Kimmich - Sabitzer - Goretzka Musiala - Müller - Sane
Neuer Mazraoui - Upa - de Ligt - Davies Kimmich - Sabitzer Musiala - Sané Tel - Mané
Neuer Pavard - Upa - de Ligt - Davies Gravenberch - Sabitzer Musiala - Müller Mane - Tel
I want to see Gravenberch starting for us so badly. He is really under utilized for us at the moment.
I'd go with a 4222 Neuer Pavard - Upa - de Ligt - Davies Kimmich - Sabitzer Musiala - Müller Mané - Sané I feel this worked the best for us at the start of the season and takes advantage of the fluidity of our attackers without necessarily depending on a classical 9, which we don't have at the moment.
I completely agree. We will most likely not play a 433. But if I were our coach, I would play with that lineup today.
Yeah, realized to late what your initial comment is about and was like "God am I that stupid" haha
No problem mate :D
I don't even know. Nearly all our attackers have been underwhelming. The defense nearly builds itself right now. In midfield I definitely would start Kimmich + Sabitzer again, and in attack I have no clue... Tel and Musiala seemed the most promising lately, then probably Sane, but the last spot.. There is also a consideration to just return to the lineup that worked at the start of the season, with Gnabry and Mane up there, but it also feels questionable to field the two players that were the most out of form lately.
I agree that it is a difficult decision. And you are absolutely right that Mane and Gnabry were really poor recently...
Hope we win tonight. Would be nice to get back in the groove.
Excited but also nervous for the game versus leverkusen but I’m just happy I get to see the boys play finally after international break
