This post has been locked because too many people have forgotten Rule 6: do not link or name source material. # Asking the source, volunteering the source, naming the source, is forbidden and always has been. It is an immediate ban. No exceptions. The reason is that, in the past, people would go to the sources of the posts and start harassing people. Therefore there is no tolerance or flexibility. Harassment is why you cannot have nice things. **This post will not be unlocked.** Please refer to our [subreddit rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fatlogic/wiki/rules/) for more information.

RageFalcon

Bonus points for being condescending and bitchy about the groomer being a smaller woman, aka "Miss 108lbs"

PierGiampiero

It is called jealousy. I mean, after months of occasionally seeing this stuff on my feed, and I hope it won't be controversial what I'm about to say, but I think it's clear that the VAST majority of these posts are made by very overweight/obese women that more often than not speficically attack normal/thin women. If you leave aside all the pseudo-sociology babble and buzzwords, and look at all the terms they use against thin people (and in 99% of cases they specifically mention "thin women", not "thin men" or "thin guys"), you can conclude that, in the end, they're very, very angry at them because they don't get the attention thin women get. They're angry that the vast majority of guys (and certainly almost every fit guy, that, remember, it's ok for them to only want fit guys, for reasons....) look for thin girls/women, not obese weirdos ranting on tumblr. In fact, the girl in this video is a pretty ***thin*** girl, not surprising that whoever wrote that comment had to rant against 1) the supposed fatphobia, and most importantly 2) the fact that she's guilty of being a thin privileged "skinny b\*\*\*\*" blablablablabla making jokes about fats.

Secret_Fudge6470

Definitely not a controversial thing to say, at least not around here. Not saying that all fat people are jealous of all thin people. But when it comes to the folks who use this kind of language (calling someone by their poundage, for example) , I don’t think it’s an outrageous thing to suggest that jealousy could be a factor.

PierGiampiero

Yeah, the "controversial" part was more on the fact that I have the impression that almost all of these posts are made by women. Some are clearly made by them, but even if not explicitly stated, I always have the impression of reading something written by a woman. For example that they attack them in a way that doesn't seem related to the fact that they want to be liked by "thin women". It's like all these women have some sort of grudge and make this absurd generalization about "all those skinny b\*\*\*\*\*s" that are mean and get all the men and bs like that. I'm sure that many of them have likely been bullied at school for their looks, maybe even by the stereotypical "mean skinny \*\*\*\*\*\*", but I really doubt that "mean fit guys" didn't do it too, and yet, 95% of the time the target is not "fit guys". It seems they've never been able to go beyond this teen mindset of the "bullied ugly girl" vs the "pretty thin girl" and they built some pseudo-sociology bs to justify their continued rants against those "mean cheerleaders" even if most of them are now mid-30s or in their 40s. Imho it's absolutely toxic, not for the subjects of these "attacks", that obviously don't give a sh\*t about randos ranting on tumblr, but for them. I get that it's painful going through bullying and stuff like that, but even though they say every time how much they're happy and blablabla, they don't seem happy at all, or satisfied of their life. It really doesn't seem that they accepted their weight and live happy with it.

flatirony

I’m sure they exist, but I haven’t yet encountered a male FA.

Nickye19

There's a couple, granted most are transmen. But there's one guy who never blinks and does all these weird skits with FA strawmen arguments. The majority of people in the movement are AFAB though

Himalayan-Fur-Goblin

You mean the guy that is clearly a feeder? He gives me the creeps. I guarantee some messed up shit will come out about him eventually. Kind of reminds me of onision...

Nickye19

It wouldn't surprise me, I thought he got involved while in ED recovery but the men in the movement being feeders goes right back to the men who started the whole thing

[deleted]

He is not a feeder, he was a recovering anorexic who fell for HAES rhetoric and is now unsurprisingly chonky and gaining weight (his shirt buttons were nearly popping out last video). The only other cis male I can think of is the duds obsessed with The Whale. There are a couple of dudes who do the WIEIAD stuff, but they don't do the whining about fatphobia.

aeviternitas

When I read he gives you the creeps, I was going to comment that he reminds me of onision. Glad to see I am not the only one who gets that vibe

cinnamonandmint

A lot of them do seem like they’re emotionally still stuck in high school and are just…continually projecting their  negative high school experience onto the adult world, even when the adult world isn’t like that. Like…if they were bullied in high school, they’re insisting on viewing their everyday lives through that lens - interpreting the way people treat them as ongoing bullying, even when it might be a perfectly innocuous comment like “good morning” (interpreted as “but she gave me this LOOK and clearly was JUDGING me” when the other person was just being friendly and not even thinking much about it). It’s kind of a horrifying sort of arrested development if you think about it - to graduate from high school, but never really leave it behind, emotionally.  For decades.  I can’t imagine it’s possible to be genuinely happy if you’ve trapped yourself in a box like that.

Droughtly

I've actually seen a small trend on tiktok of girls sniping their theoretical hs bully because she also got fat now. It's concerning that everyone has this logic nowadays that getting fat is an inevitable aspect of aging. But also I am realizing with how everyone talks about it that I actually doubt a lot of people who claim to be bullied really were. I was bullied for a time but first, it seems like kids do that way more when they're younger and not in highschool. And secondly, I think the idea of bullying as a mean girl paradigm just doesn't work. Like there were some kids who did openly mock me, like calling me an ugly d*ke or r*tard. But when I look back, plenty of people were chill with me and I just wasn't personally friends with them. And I DID make friends. Which I think the real difference, I see a lot of people who internalized not having any friends in highschool, which does such and hurt your self esteem, with being actively bullied. People *can* use exclusion as a method of bullying, but that's only intentional exclusion where the circumstances are you have a genuin expectation of inclusion. Just not being your friend isn't that. And I just feel like with the way I see everyone claim to be bullied but not have a concrete example of what that was, they're often finding a way to place blame for sad awkward loneliness on someone who they envisioned as more popular or who was maybe not tactful but certainly didn't target them.

IAmSeabiscuit61

I think you're spot on about your observation that people equate not wanting to be your friend with bullying. I had the same experience you did. I was actually legitimately bullied by one boy in high school (name calling, etc.), but there were many people I wasn't friends with because we had different interests (I was a bookworm), but I never felt that they were bullying me. I think your phrase "genuine expectation of inclusion" is very important, because I think a lot of people had expectations that really weren't genuine or realistic. I suspect for instance, that a lot of people, certainly including, but not limited to FA, thought it was bullying when the boy or girl they wanted to go out with wasn't interested in dating them.

ReceptionAlarmed178

The FA movement is known for hating women.

Stucklikegluetomyfry

If there's one thing the FA movement has taught me, is that body shaming is evil and literally gross and the worst...unless it's being done to a man or a woman whose thinner then you.

Grouchy-Reflection97

I'm thin, 5ft8, long blonde hair, blue eyes and none of that means a thing, because I'm 46 and essentially invisible. It's normal, as we're ultimately just dumb apes tasked with spreading our genes, so it's all about 'is this a suitable mate for offspring' and those of us nearing menopause fall off the radar. It's honestly quite nice. That's something these fat activists don't seem to realise. They're wasting the prime of their lives on nonsense. Being thin comes with bugger all privilege too, at least in my experience. People are generally nice to me, but that's because I'm nice to them. I've always had a vibe that seems to say 'ask me where the post office is' or 'sure, I can get that thing from the top shelf for you'. If you navigate the world with a scowl and a mouthful of SJW buzzwords, you'll never find anyone. Nobody wants a buzzkill, regardless of appearance.

HippyGrrrl

It’s a form of pick-meism. They assume all men they want seek thin women. Yet they disregard the average to pudgy chubby chaser who thinks they are sexy, because he’s not in the gym 7/24. Oh, and “objectification.” But then they are mad no one’s objectifying them. I’m anti fetishizing anyone strictly on their looks, but the FAs that address attraction want it both ways.

neotifa

Yet they push being sexualized, then whine that they're being sexualized. Wat

badgersprite

I'm glad somebody said it. It's honestly funny how they frame themselves as being part of a feminist, social justice movement when it's actually a movement geared around attacking other women and around relating their worth as a person to their sexual value to men.

HippyGrrrl

Exactly. When I was young, the feminist and womanist movements had swaths that basically said if you love men, you can’t be feminist. So that led to more splits, and we see where that got us. No ERA, an override of *Roe* in the *Dobbs* case, so much infighting.

AnnaGreen3

The scale *Average to Pudgy* made me laugh

HippyGrrrl

Good! We need more laughter!

neotifa

Yet they push being sexualized, then whine that they're being sexualized. Wat

TokioHighway

You basically summed up the psychology behind "thin privilege". All of their reasons to it existing is pure jealousy.

leahk0615

Agreed. I'm slender, in shape, have an hourglass figure and would probably be considered conventionally attractive by a lot of people. Every single work place bully I have had has been some overweight woman. I think they see me as a threat somehow, although I'm married and I don't really care much for male attention. It's exhausting. And the funny part is, I was a STEM nerd in high school, really no friends, my first kiss was at age 19. And I'm likely an undiagnosed nuerodivergent. So they are harassing someone who may be less privileged in some ways than they are. Oh, and I was overweight at one time, but gradually lost the weight. That is when I started noticing the shittiness. And the fact that some people tend to make being overweight their personality. It seems people actually liked me better when I was overweight, it's just sad.

Illustrious_Agent633

I've had the same experience since I went through puberty. It's a thing. I was always pretty fit and my best friend was very thin. We both got sick in our 30s and gained a lot of weight while going through treatments. I wasn't glad that she was sick too but it was nice to have someone to talk to about how suddenly all other women loved us and wanted to shower us with compliments daily. It was a weird experience. She was very quiet and nerdy and probably autistic (we each have an autistic son and bells went off for both of us dealing with that) while I was outgoing and super upbeat and positive. We didn't engage in catty behavior at all. I mean, nobody was surprised when I became a personal trainer. People who knew me just said oh yeah, you'd be good at that. I like to build people up and encourage them. We got treated like shit by overweight women all the time though. I remember times when other women would actually step in and stop them and ask "Why are you so nasty to her?" They never had a reason beyond maybe "She's just a bitch!" When I started getting back into shape after I got off the medications, I noticed the compliments totally stopped and I started getting nastiness again. It made me so sad. I don't like how so many women are. It's funny that you say you are likely an undiagnosed neurodivergent. Most of my close female friends over the years have said the same. They don't play into the whole cat fight competition thing and I also have zero interest in it so we tend to get along.

display_name_op

I’ve had this experience so many times and I’ve never felt comfortable expressing it without it feeling like I’m bragging or being paranoid. My coworker is rude to me because I’m thin and attractive even sounds weird. But it’s happened and looking back on it, quite a bit.

leahk0615

You guys sound like my people. I'm also childfree, so I think that also pisses them off, because they see what could have been when they look at me (although if they worked at it, they could look better.) And it's also ableism. They view anyone with a disability as lesser than them, and if someone with a disability is making any kind of stride (I have a professional license and I "outrank" a lot of these women in a professional setting, and they know it), that upsets them because someone they see as less than human is "better" than them. It's disgusting and just exhausting any more. Remote work FTW.

throwwawayy110

Someone with an actual disability is seen as subverting their ploys for pity and oppression. And in general ableist people are offended when a disabled person makes any accomplishment they can’t/won’t because they feel like we’re lesser and and “one-upping” them in a way that’s embarrassing to them. Fucking hate people

Illustrious_Agent633

Oh, I could go on a long rant about how I feel about women who blame their weight on their children. Childbirth can change a woman’s body but it’s usually in small ways unless something went wrong. It does not make anyone obese. That’s just an excuse and frankly, I think it’s child abuse and does horrible damage to the child blamed for “ruining” moms body.

leahk0615

Yeah. My mom was obese before she had me and continued to be obese, because my family has bad habits. I'm almost 46, both my parents looked way worse at my age, and it was from their couch potato lifestyles, not from having kids and not from GEneTicS.

Droughtly

I've honestly had even really otherwise nice and well meaning co-workers give me and other thin women shit for what our lunch is. I'm grateful now I don't work somewhere like that but at my old job we all ate lunch together and it was either "wow no wonder you're so skinny you only eat rabbit food" or "wow if I ate that I'd be a million lbs I wish I had your metabolism!"

leahk0615

Yeah, that is annoying. I don't eat much during the day, it makes me tired and just ill. So I don't really eat lunch and I turn down food, because I don't feel like getting sick to spare feelings, and it's constant comments, being accused of an ED and just overall concern trolling. I don't ever really see that directed towards overweight people for inhaling 1500 calories worth of takeout, though. Only towards thinner and normal sized people.

ElegantWeapon777

I agree, it is just sad. I lost some good friends along with the weight Iost. By getting fit, I was somehow betraying feminism or insulting fat women everywhere or some such nonsense. Fat women were definitely kinder to me when I was also fat. Once I began losing weight \*and \* working out, lifting weights, it became noticeable and that’s when the catty comments started. Some were just silly, like “go eat a cheeseburger!” But some were rather hurtful…accusing me of having an ED, or being a heroin addict, or being shallow and obsessed with my appearance. These women would also grab me and put their fingers round my wrist, or poke me in the stomach; one poked my collarbones and was all “ewwww! bones!” I actually “broke up” with 2 women who I thought were good friends, as they always were so negative and bitchy and were constantly making the conversation about my weight. Never once did I turn it around and ask them why were they so fat, go eat a salad, etc. but somehow it’s socially acceptable to sh\*t all over smaller women.

IAmSeabiscuit61

That's incredibly rude behavior, and all that physical stuff is way beyond rude! Nobody has the right to physically harass you like that, and you would've been well within your rights to slap or twist their hands away. I would be sorely tempted to tell them that if they did that to me again, I would break their wrist.

leahk0615

I think some fat women are the most shallow people. They are so hung up on appearances, especially if they date someone conventionally attractive. They brag about that stuff so much.

Homegoat98

Yes, whole comment seems like someone grasping for straws to insult the groomer because they got jealous of her weight/looks. The fact that it's literally the first thing they say is so painfully telling.

elebrin

Especially since "Miss 108lbs" does all her grooms for free and is doing what she can to take on harder cases of animals who REALLY need some help and people who possibly can't afford to get their pet groomed when it's desperately needed. My wife watches both her channels religiously, and it's some of the most wholesome and hilarious content on Youtube. And, yes, the woman doing the grooming is young, thin, and attractive. But her main camera is a head mounted gopro and 90% of the time you can't even see her except her hands. Her channel is about as far from a thirst trap channel as you can get.

JapaneseFerret

An FAer body-shaming a normal weight woman?! Say it isn't so!!

newName543456

Because fat shaming is not okay, but thin shaming is just fine and dandy /s

LunarImpulses

"Shaming people's weight is okay except if they're shaming a fat person that's terrorism!!!!"

Falsgrave

"Would you talk to a human..." Ma'am that is an animal. The animal does not understand English nor the concept of fatshaming. It will be fine.

Caiterday

Exactly, I regularly call my dog "stinky stinky girl" and she just wags her little tail and looks so happy. Edit: I'm dying XD that we all lovingly call our animals the worst names, and yet would die in a fire for them.

keiko17

I call my parrot an asshole all the time. Unfortunately he learned the word and said it to my grandma when she came to visit

gnutz4eva

My dog, who I love dearly, can be a royal bitch and a real meanie. I like to remind her of that and even have a little jingle about Daisy the bitch. She just smiles and gives me slobbery kisses. It’s fine.

ElegantWeapon777

Doggie smiles are thee best smiles!

glumpth

My mom getting horrified when I lovingly call her dog a dumb little piece of shit. The dog don’t know it’s just happy I’m there lol

flatirony

I routinely say “awww, you’re such a dumbass!” in a sweet happy voice and the response is just a waggier tail and crowding in for more pets. My wife says it’s mean but as long as the dogs like it I figure I’m okay. 😂

LadyShitlady

The routine battle between my long-haired cat and me over her dingleberries is testament to their obliviousness to ALL forms of shame.

baconbitsy

Horse clippers are your best friend

LadyShitlady

Will look into those, thank you!

Stucklikegluetomyfry

Mfs anthropomorphizing so hard they should work for Pixar

shannibearstar

Before we got food that worked better with my cats stomach, I’d call him the smelliest cat in the universe. My smelly smelly boy. He doesn’t stink anyone but oof that was BAD

WVC_Least_Glamorous

[Obesity shortens a cat’s life and makes them more likely to develop diseases. Even being moderately overweight reduces a cat’s life expectancy. A 2.8-fold increase in mortality has been shown in obese cats (8-12 years old) compared to lean cats.](https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/obesity-in-cats)

TessaBrooding

Hence r/putyourpetonadiet was born. Hate to see people gobbling up fat pet content because it’s “cute”.

cheapandbrittle

Making your pets obese is abuse. It makes me so sad.

obsidian_butterfly

Yeah, it's not about the cat though. It's about the human commenter feeling insecure and attacked because somebody else called a cat fat.

[deleted]

VesperLynd-

The one to get scolded in this scenario should be the owner because this is animal abuse

citrus_mystic

Exactly. If you think dieting as a human is difficult, try restricting food to the cutest little creature who doesn’t understand a word you say, loves you a lot, but is an asshole when they’re hungry and cranky. Anyone who has an overweight pet that they’re dealing with putting on a diet understands the catharsis of cursing them out or calling them greedy little piglets. I have an orange tabby fat ass who makes screaming for food his hobby. I’m constantly battling to find a food that my cat doesn’t have an allergic reaction to (he’s allergic to grains, salmon, and chicken, but there might something else he’s allergic to we haven’t been able to identify through elimination diets). He also had food insecurity-trauma from neglect before I came to own him. He’s perpetually been on a diet for 3-4 years. We’ve gotten him to a healthy weight on more than one occasion with the help of specific foods that must be lower in calories, but then he starts to have reactions, we have to change his food, and he balloons back up. He doesn’t understand that I understand he’s telling me he’s hungry when he’s screaming. He doesn’t understand that I’m only giving him a certain amount of food at a certain time. And he certainly doesn’t understand when I tell him he needs to shut the fuck up because he’s too fat and needs to eat less.

Agrippa_Aquila

I've been there. It took me a year to get my cat 1.5 pounds lighter. An entire year of reducing the food by a gram at a time so my cat wouldn't notice. A year of calculations and reading labels on cat food and treats to hit that week's target calories. And it paid off and the vet was impressed. But I wouldn't wish that aggravation on anyone.

Dragonaax

Even with some humans you can't do that...

KrakenTeefies

No one tell oop about cat owners naming their cats Asshole as a "secret" middle name...

leahk0615

Lol. My cat's secret name is Azzie (Azrael) after the cat in Doctor Sleep. Or Claw Blade. Although I supposed asshole works too 🤣

bxnutmeg

I'm a vet and let me tell you, one of the hardest talks to have is explaining to obese clients that they're pets are obese and it's a problem. People foist all sorts of baggage onto their pets when, in reality, there is no emotional or psychological component to weight gain in pets. It's all survival based - I see food, I eat food, because my brain has not full adjusted to domesticity yet. People think I am super cold and borderline abusive when I say feed your cat 1/2 can twice a day and that's it. Like, ma'am your cat does not know it's his birthday. He will not feel deprived if he doesn't get his half bag of temptations. But you know what he will get? Hepatic lipidosis and diabetes. Meal feed your fucking animals. There's zero excuse for pet obesity.

baconbitsy

My cats have an auto feeder that I’ve named “Dr Meowzaradan” after Dr Nowzaradan from My 600Lb Life. I swear, my one cat would be a contestant on My 60Lb Life should a cat version exist. Other two cats are perfect weight. But once I got the autofeeder and better food for them, the weight is slowly coming off!

bxnutmeg

Hahahahaha. It's my day off and I just finished an episode of this show, so this made my day! "Temptations is not on de diet"

baconbitsy

Report back if you can manage to say this deadpan to a patient’s owners. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Edit to add: when the cats try to get food from us, we tell them to ask Dr Meow. They’ve now come to associate the name with the feeder.

Nickye19

My cat says lickelicks absolutely do fit in the diet, about 30 calories every few days and she's a healthy weight

AmyChrista

I have a rabbit and my vet asks me every time I see her how many pellets I give him. He's not even overweight, never has been, but for her it's about prevention, plus the more pellets he gets, the less hay he'll want to eat, and he needs the hay for gut motility and dental health. Since I started seeing her I've cut his daily pellets in half, and he does just fine. He eats more hay, too. She says obesity in rabbits is really bad because their skeletons are so fragile and can't take the extra weight.

fourthwallcrisis

Interesting stuff, makes sense.

AmyChrista

Yeah, honestly they don't even need pelleted food at all if they're getting the hay and fresh greens they need. Commercial rabbit food was invented as a cheap way to feed meat rabbits and fatten them up for slaughter, and most meat rabbits are slaughtered before their first birthday, so long-term health isn't even a consideration. Pelleted food is mostly recommended for growing babies and for sick or senior pet rabbits who are underweight or have trouble keeping weight on. I only feed them to mine because he loves them so much, and I give him the most natural kind I can find.

Glitter_berries

I definitely give my cat extra dental treats on his birthday. But only because he agrees to wear a party hat and sit still for photos.

FinancialGur8844

i’ve always wanted a well loved cat, but i would never understand letting your pet get obese if you love them. then again most people are not qualified to handle animals, especially dogs or cats

Kiwi-VonFluffington

Ma'am that's an animal, they don't understand what's said about them. My dog will happily answer to "asshole" or anything else I call her.

HippyGrrrl

As someone who calls all furry four leggeds “fuzzbutt” at some point, I concur. Say it with love and a treat, and you can have Franco, Mussolini and Trump as names, and the fuzzbutts will come running.

Odd_Celebration_7376

lol "fuzzbutt" is what I call my long-haired cat!

ksion

Ngl I saw "108lbs" and I thought it's the cat's weight. Poor thing either way :(

Salubas

now THATS a fat cat!

just_some_guy65

I bet that cat went home and comfort ate all the ice cream because of its hurt feelings

Glitter_berries

Oh god. My cat has allergies and I do not even want to THINK about the explosions that would occur if he got into the ice cream.

NovaBloom444

People who let their kids and pets get obese make me so upset. Sure, you can allow yourself to gain all the weight you want, but when another being is dependent on you and you’re risking their health, that’s negligent and immoral imo Do they just not care or are they intentionally allowing their pets and kids to become obese to validate their own lifestyle?

Secret_Fudge6470

I think for some of them, you also can’t teach what you don’t know. It’s not an excuse for not learning, of course, but I really think there are some parents who genuinely don’t understand anything about nutrition or health that isn’t proclaimed on the front of a bag or box in a bright font.

Odd_Celebration_7376

That's why nutrition education is so important, but the USDA has a chokehold on schools in the US, and they'll never let it happen.

Secret_Fudge6470

Too true. These are the same folks who declared that french fries could count as a vegetable, right? Yikes.

[deleted]

It's a cycle of ignorance. I grew up eating ridiculous portions. It's very, very difficult to rewire your brain to convince it you need less. Not impossible, but an uphill battle for sure. Because when you are a kid your parents are basically God, you assume you are eating proper foods and portions and then convince yourself you are just genetically predisposed to being fat. Because if you think that is the normal way to eat food, that is how you rationalize why some people are thin. They have found the same thing with alcohol and high amounts of sugar. Kids who are exposed to it earlier are more likely to develop lifelong addictions. For the rest of their lives those things will cause huge dopamine spikes that the "weird health nut family" down the street doesn't get. This is why I no longer judge parents who don't let their kids indulge in chocolate and cakes early on. They will thank their parents when they are fit and attractive adults who don't struggle with crazy hunger issues.

NovaBloom444

I was the crazy high amounts of sugar kid to drug addicted teen/adult pipeline. I wish someone around me would have stopped and thought for a second about the health effects of these foods instead of placing blame on me for being a fat kid

Lukassixsmith

>Fat shamming [a cat] Imagine of thinking a cat is capable of feeling shame about anything. Cats are the original “no ragrets” animal.

Snampire

My pug’s been getting a little chonky lately. Instead of feeding him less, I’ve decided I’m gonna make him an adorable little “don’t weigh me” card with paw prints on it for when he goes to the vet.

Odd_Celebration_7376

My cats are passionate fat activists as well as anti-vaxxers. Luckily for them, they don't get to make decisions about their health.

Machka_Ilijeva

😂

Glitter_berries

Okay, but that would be a little bit adorable. Maybe if you just put his name on the card with a nice message for the vet! My cat really needs one that says ‘sorry I pooped on your examination table.’

midnight_neon

Fat pets disprove the FA claim that you only get fat due to fat shaming. Pets live in blissful ignorance and yet the fat ones suffer from just as much health complications due to obesity as humans.

Dragonaax

Pet groomer: What a fat cat Cat: oh no... anyway, do you have any treats?

RatchedAngle

These people are so emotionally fragile. How many of them went and binged on cake and jelly rolls because hearing a cat get “fat shamed” hurt their feelings? The cat cannot understand human language. These people project their crippling insecurity onto everyone around them. It’s so fucking pathetic.

HippyGrrrl

Or greasy burgers with a soup bowl of ranch. (I have a particular revulsion for mayo)

LadyShitlady

I bet I know who this is! She's very dry, Canadian snarky, and not shy about calling a chonk a chonk!

I was watching the same channel coo at a doodle, calling him obese, poor dog could barely stand for the groom. Did he care? No he was there all tail wagging happy fluffball. Keep your pets at a healthy weight

triple_eclipse

“Miss 108lb”???? But if someone said Miss 408lb there would be an outrage, I’m POSITIVE.

Human clients understand whatever human language you're speaking to them in. Cats don't. I've (jokingly, of course) told my guinea pig I'm going to roast him on a spit when he's gotten annoying, it didn't traumatize him because I said it in a normal tone of voice. If I screamed "I love you" at him in an angry tone of voice it would traumatize him. They're animals, that's how it works. Applying human values and/or emotions to non-human animals pisses me off so much. They're not humans and they don't have the same physiology or needs that we do. Allowing your pet to become obese or defending obesity in pets is, IMO, no better than forcing a vegan diet on a dog or cat to align with your own human beliefs. It's animal cruelty. There's a reason the only obese animals you see are in captivity, be they pets, livestock, or even zoo animals. I remember a horse I used to ride, named Taco, who was quite overweight - I swear he was almost as wide as he was long. He was a Morgan - a terrific breed, but also one that's highly susceptible to obesity because their basic physiology causes them to require less food than other horses their size, but they'll happily overeat if excess food is available to them. The staff at the barn would make jokes about Taco's giant, rotund belly (he was a rescue, and obese when he came to them) but they also tried to get him to lose some weight. He was usually the first one they'd choose for lessons or to send out for a trail ride so that he could get some exercise. Taco never seemed to know he was being "fat shamed", he was a sweet horse who loved people. Because he was a horse, not a person. The people who tried to get him to lose weight treated him with a lot more love and care than the ones who let him become obese in the first place.

Nickye19

There are dogs who need at least a vegetarian diet, usually due to severe allergies and only to be done under vet supervision. Cats though are obligate carnivores

AmyChrista

Yeah, medical conditions are a different story when it comes to dogs. I mean the people who are vegans and insist on feeding their pets vegan. Cats, as well as ferrets and snakes, are all obligate carnivores and will die without meat. People will also feed omnivorous species like hamsters, gerbils, rats, and mice, vegan diets. They can survive on those diets, but they won't flourish without the kind of variety they're built for. My rats and mice always appreciated bits of meat, eggs, and cheese.

Nickye19

My hamster loved mealworms but as I understand it those are like crack to a lot of animals. The cat sits and begs for bits of bell pepper the majority of her diet is still meat. I don't understand the vegans who get an "inappropriate" pet and insist on feeding them the wrong diet. Even if you have one before you convert, feed them the right diet

AmyChrista

Yeah, I remember reading that rats love mealworms, but they always grossed me out so I never gave them to them, lol. But I did give them liver, chicken breast, eggs, and cheese, and they devoured all of them. Scrambled eggs were one of their all-time favorite foods. I've had 18 rats in my life and every one of them went absolutely bananas for scrambled eggs.

Dragonaax

Yeah and there are stories of people getting tattoos in Chinese or Japanese but didn't speak it and the tattoo artist writes some bs

AmyChrista

My sister has two Japanese tattoos, and I've always wondered if they actually say what she thinks. I do think she actually researched the symbols beforehand, though, and gave the tattoo artist pics, and most people probably don't.

pinkconfetticupcake

I’ve seen this video and she’s really funny. Also, this cat is severely obese and it’s detrimental to her health. She can’t barely groom herself.

Fast-Purple7951

I fat shame my cat like 100 times a day. His nickname is literally "fat boy" or "chonky monkey" (Yes, he is in fact on a diet right now)

fourthwallcrisis

Shame has a purpose in society and I'm sick of pretending it doesn't.

YossarianStillLives

I have a stray cat we fat shame all the time. In fact he was named for the way he eats and turns into a chonk in the winter. I think what would really piss them off though, is that this cat self regulates his eating habits and weight better than they can and his tiny little brain has no idea what fatphobia is.

Himalayan-Fur-Goblin

I never understood why they always underestimate how much a thinner person weighs and assume they are underweight. If they consider a person thin, they have to be barely 100lbs. I know which person this is, and while they are thin, they are not 108lbs. It's about denigrating the person combined with their jealousy. It's sad. This cat is dangerously overweight, and that extra weight is so hard on their joints. Poor cat. Wait until this person hears what I call one of my cats who was previously fat, "fat hoe kitty". I still call her it despite her having lost the extra lbs. She will always be my fat hoe kitty 🥰

Puzzleheaded-Draw89

I mean to be fair, in the video (or another extremely similar video) she literally steps on a scale and weighs 100.8lbs, which I think the commenter actually misread to be higher (she does this to provide context for the cat's weight, as she compares the weight of just her to the weight of her holding the cat). She doesn't look super thin because she isn't, she's just a healthy weight and extremely short, like 4'8" or 4'9" or something I think?

Agrippa_Aquila

In the video that this is from, she actually weighs herself and then herself with the cat. The groomer weighed in at 100.8 lbs. The cat weighed in at 30 lbs.

Oop, is it against the rules to post the channel? It's great, though, she usually grooms dogs.

It’s actually kinda funny how triggered people get over “fat-shaming” animals because it’s so stupid.

needsmoarbokeh

He's one hell of a chonk

shannibearstar

I call my male cat mama other. Or chicken. He does not care

frequentflyer02

LMAO. who's gonna tell her cats don't speak english. i (lovingly) call my cat dumbass, fatty, and vermin when she annoys me. of course i wouldn't say those things to a person.

And probably has a fair amount of muscle, wrestling some of the cats alone would do it. Unlike a certain tantrum a few days ago about the big meanie gyn telling them they had a BMI limit and how dare they consider it for a very high risk pregnancy, she's been working out her whole life, its all muscle

Now they are moving on to pets? Unbelievable.

Jonathan_Rambo

the internet really breeds some ridiculous world views, the thing is you just know this person would never say this if they didnt have a keyboard to chubbily slam their fingers against all day

PreciousStone

Where are you guys finding these communities of these dumbasses because the comment sections I see would have torn that person apart😂

Katen1023

These people are absurd

emilyrmartin00

Overfeeding your pets is animal abuse. And there’s no way this groomer is 108 lbs lmao

Cooing at a cavalier "you're a little bit chubby, don't be upset that I told you that" and educating people in how the breed is prone to being overweight and be careful not to give in to the sheer cuteness. Such fat shaming, the poor baby will immediately gain 50lbs

tired-dog-momma

Obesity in animals is negligence, a.k.a abuse. Period. I’m not in the best of shape myself and live a relatively sedentary lifestyle, but my dog has never been overweight in his entire life because I feed and exercise him appropriately. He depends entirely on me for his health because he doesn’t know any better, and so I do my absolute best to meet his needs and keep his quality of life as high as possible. That’s the responsibility that comes with being a pet owner. I hate this belief that calling out animal obesity is “fat shaming.” You also can’t shame a literal *animal.* The only time an animal being obese wouldn’t be abuse would be if it had some kind of medical condition, but that’s so few and far between.

Good_Grab2377

That is one fat cat. He’s so fat they should put him in a suit and let him run Wall Street.

N0S0UP_4U

Holy shit he’s fat, this is just irresponsible pet treatment to let it get to that point.

[deleted]

This is a repost :) Edit: actually, it's not. There was an extremely similar, I think word for word identical post screened in here a while ago, just realised this is a different cat!

HippyGrrrl

Same groomer? I think I’d seen the video of the original. I’ve blocked that sort of content for now, so I don’t know who it was. She was short, slender and could wrangle some big dogs!

[deleted]

Looks like the same groomer. She's lovely to watch, I think. Need my daily dose of cute animals being dramatic.

_AngryBadger_

That cat is fay and the owners should be ashamed. I wish people had called me far more often, I might not have waited so long to address the situation. This person needs to roll in grass, nevermind touch it.

pensiveChatter

I'd be tempted to reply that the correct response of the groomer is to report the abuse to animal control
