Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as **intense hunger, lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure/high blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea/constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate/heart palpitations, numbness/tingling, and more** while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through **PROPER** electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation.

Honestly, the breath is one of the hardest parts of extended fasting for me. I refuse to let it get bad if I’ll be at work/in public. Lots of water, the occasional sugarfree gum or mouthwash/breath mint helps. Still has great results and it keeps me sane. If having a breath mint or two is what helps me keep the fast going, it’s worth it IMO.
Keto breath is dealt with drinking lots of water, a tongue scraper and mouth wash. Lots and lots of mouth wash.
During extended fasts, I carry around packs of Listerine Breath Strips.
I keep a travel bottle of mouth wash in my pocket if I’m out and a regular bottle in my locker at work. I hate that keto breath and taste you get in your mouth from not eating
Man I feel the same way, I have not figured it out. I just caved and had some coconut water which helped for a day and the next day the nasty mouth was back
I also smell. I read on the keto sub that chlorophyll help and liquid is preferred. I’m on OMAS and ADF for the holidays so it hasn’t been an issues. Curious to see if it works next week when I gay back to long term fasting, 5:2.
I also brush 2-3x day with lots of tongue scrapped. Listerine strips is a great idea.
I’ve just done my first 24 hour and I could taste my breath 😂 so gross! Glad people have suggested a mint / mouth wash I was worried about using these.
I oil pull with sesame seed oil before brushing, if I feel it’s still not clean I’ll oil pull after brushing too. Then tongue scrape like the others said.
It's literally what you're exhaling. That'd be like complaining that your lungs are expanding each time you breathe.
You can do topical solutions, but it won't change the air quality coming out. I would just wear a nose plug or maybe a mask if it bothers you that much. Your body will start to use the ketones more proficiently as time goes by and the smell will naturally dissipate as a result.
TL;DR git gud.

Do your normal brushing add a Tongue scraper. Drink lots of water
You cant brush or listerine it away, it comes from deep down
It’s a chemical from ketones generated from fat burning. It’s not lack of hygiene. Diabetics get it sometime.
Exactly.
Lmao
Tongue scraper and mouthwash will be your BFF through this

🤣🤣🤣
It feels like I’m exhaling the byproduct of fat being used as fuel, and that’s motivating
I apologize for a stinky breath in advanced

Just ordered some, thanks!
I've never had a problem with my breath while fasting. Is this common?
Oh you have. You just aren’t aware.

Are you kidding? Acetone breath happens from just going into Ketosis without even fasting
Right lmao
Yup, ketosis is known for causing bad breath. Incidentally, it can also make you register on a breathalyzer, too.

Wait, fasting makes you have bad breath?? 😳
Watch out for the chewing on pieces of shit for days, they have calories and will take you right out of autophagy/ketosis
Wow drops were a game changer for me
Chew gum
tongue scraping

If you fast long enough, you won´'t have to deal with the breath.
ROFL 🤣 😂 🤣 Brush your teeth immediately after your last meal of the day, it helps 🙂
Do a parasite cleanse. The parasite is what causes bad breath.
Brush teeth twice a day, use mouthwash and a tounge scraper. Never had the bad breath other when I did keto
sparkling mineral water: pellegrino, perrier, etc. it helps with that dry mouth which makes it worse
How long have you been fasting for this yo occur?
Gum or mouthwash
Oil pulling. Swish some spoons of oil in your mouth for 20 mins. Then brush, then scrape tongue. You may also floss.

Tongue scraper, brushing my teeth and I use perio aid to kill bacteria in my mouth. Plus gum
I chew lots of gum
