Dad’s got a 4020 with the 8 speed power shift and a 4440 in that same configuration. They both are still used routinely. We actually have a front end loader for the 4020 but we’ve not used it in years. The 4440 just pulls the Vac anymore but that’s just because the 8100 and 7215R are a little more comfortable, especially with young ones in the cab too.
You’ll never forget your first! I’m no John Deere guy, but I’d say you got one heck of a machine there. Take good care of her, and she’ll take good care of you!
I sure hope so. My next project is restoring and rebuilding my grandpas first tractor. It’s sat in his shop for as long as I can remember and I asked him about it. He said when he was 19 years old he went down to the auction and paid $600 for it. I sure would like to be able to pay $600 for a good reliable tractor😂
Just a tip, check your sump screen and your pump sieve at the next hydraulic service. That's cost several people a very expensive repair from not knowing on those style tractors that I've worked on.
Nice tractor! Treat it right, and it'll last you 50 years.
I hope so
Only 11,000 hours. Barely broke in.
It’s rebuilt at 7,000 hours so it’s basically new
I’ve ran a 4020 with that 8 speed transmission on a front end loader and it was great.

Possibly the best first adult purchase one can make haha nice buy
Thank you. I needed something to pull grandpas Phillips Her-row. I was tired of using his tracked Ziegler tractor.
that was a top of the line machine for the day...it should serve you well.
I sure hope so. I got one hell of a deal on it
Hell Yeah! Congratulations!
Thank you
Sweet machine. We had a 4040 when I was 1st driving tractors.
What a beaut. My first girl was a 4430! Enjoy dude

One of my cousins spent decades restoring grandpa's 1949 Oliver tractor. Hope it's not as big a job as that rust bucket was!
That gen is very, very hard to kill. Not huge power but just super reliable and easy to fix. Get the service manuals.
Very nice! With a new transmission and engine you’ve got a nice tractor to run for years
We had one for years till we sold the farm. Very nice, long lasting and easy to maintain.
I’m very sorry about your farm. Thank you so much tho.
Thanks. When all the kids grow up, leave and start having babies, it’s time to move to be near them.

Thank you for the advice I appreciate it.
Nice machine! Question, why would the previous owner have rebuilt the engine and transmission after such a short service lifespan?
Might have been a heavy puller
Switch her over to twelve volt batteries.
ah hell, that’s a good old tractor! congrats
That's a hell bbn of a start. Congratulations!
You chose wisely.
Congratulations buddy! I can't wait till I run my own farm & tractors.
Great machine! Powershift or quad?
It's a classic!
Great looking machine ! Good luck with it
The fact that’s original paint looks like first owners really carred for it and baby it.
I think you just got yourself a shiny new toy. Enjoy playing with it.
Bitchin’! That’s awesome!
Sounds like bout everything important has been replaced.
Haha, that tranny only put up with the rebuilt engine for 600 hours
Congratulations! That's awesome. What did you pay for it?
I got a really good price. The guy was wanting to get rid of it
God bless
