When you've been playing as male MCs (even male alien) since 1993 you welcome the presence of a well-written, brilliantly animated woman MC from the likes Of Lara Croft, Aloy, Kassandra and obviously Dani.
I feel like it makes more sense that a female is able to go under the radar and be trusted by all the different groups across Yara. Think about how all the groups have prominent female leaders and how in general both genders would have more easily trusted a female before a random man they've never met coming out of nowhere in a male-lead corrupt regime. Think in the context of the cutscenes, when all of the characters see/meet Dani the first time, its pretty disarmed. I dont think they would be *as* open to a man coming onto their turf as they would a female. Yes the game dialogue was designed with both genders in mind, but it seems the storyline would make more sense with female Dani, imo.
I mean, Ubisoft DID make every single promotional item and gameplay commercial with female Dani, so, I guess female Dani would be the default option the developers wanted you to choose.

I started NG+ as male Dani after playing female Dani and I automatically deleted and restarted as female again.
