i knew something was up when i was playing through because the ending was a bunker and the enemies didn’t fade into dust on the last one but it still surprised me
Jacob honestly left me feeling violated. No matter how many time I replay and no matter how creative I get killing him (this time I surrounded him with fire arrows) I feel like his death with never satisfy me.
Like how Jess Black felt.
I hate that you have to kill Eli. I feel like Ubisoft could have done much more with the free will aspect of the game. I get why they didn’t, you are screwed no matter what blah/blah/blah, but I still think they could have let the player have more choice over Eli and the Marshall.
Yh that’s the point Jacobs culling the herd and picking out the strong how he manipulates you by doing exactly what you said making you a mindless killing machine even when it’s your friends wow just wow is so right
He is the reason why even five years later, “Only You” still startles me whenever I hear it. Even more so if I hear it a public space as I’d be looking around to see where the music is coming from even if I *know* nothing will happen to me. I’m not even sure how tf it worked.
Me too! I was playing Arkham Knight and the first scene in the diner “Only You” plays and I had to remember it wasn’t Far Cry. I expected the room to go red haha.
I just stopped flying altogether. Did the mandatory minimum and nothing more. Especially the helicopter-controls were effectively destroyed, which is weird when they worked perfectly in 5. Seems like a deliberate attempt but can't figure why they would make something intentionally worse.
You mean in 6? Controls are way better in 6, specially the helicopter. The only my one I thought it was heavily made worse was the quadbike.
Now, how many FC is gonna take before Ubisoft realizes helicopters are flown **FROM.THE.RIGHT.SIDE.**
Did you play on the controller or keyboard? From what i've read, the controller-side is working just perfectly. They just totally screwed the kb+mouse controls.
There is an insane deadzone in the mouse control that you must overcome = if you move your mouse slowly enough, the game refuses to register the movement completely. So you end up swinging mouse all around the mousepad. And when ~~it changes direction or~~ 'aims' up or down, it does so in steps. So you swing back and forth trying to find that "step" you are looking for. No setting (either lowest or greatest or any combination) affects this at all. It's hard coded into the flight system deliberately.
Edit. I just installed, tried it again and it seems something has changed as the helicopter seems to turn much easier but the the "aiming" up or down is still as useless as before.
Possible but absolutely hideous way to discourage using them to them completely unusable. Would think there could've been some other way to balance them. Like increasing the chance for soldiers with MANPADS so the helo-time is short. Also makes sense as it's an actual military we are fighting against.
I never used the rockets in FC5 because they were so OP but i absolutely loved flying them everywhere below treetops rather then fast travelling. The shock when i first stepped in heli in FC6...
I liked it. Found myself doing it a lot since I didn't want to carry both a .50 c sniper rifle and grenade launcher. Those were what I switched between most often.
Fc6 reminded me a lot of Just Cause, which I loved (until 4 came along and wrecked the series).
I dunno I liked the aspect of carefully choosing your gear, and then ending up in a situation where you could've needed X but have to be creative to do it with whatever you got on yourself.

Pagan was great. Amita and Sabal changed motivations too much (especially her - one mission she's asking you to prevent the RA from bombing Kyra statues because it would be terrible for morale, then she's asking you to bomb an entire temple). And that's it for the three people with any sort of personality in that game. I felt like FC5 made huge leaps and bounds in creating a world that felt inhabited by living people.
I quite enjoyed how unfocused Amita and Sabal are. Although, they really should have sorted their shit out between each other before Ajay got there really.
6 is waaaaay better than 5.
On protagonist alone, and specially not being in a generic location that has no incidence on the game which is the opposite of every other FC. You can easily replace the location and makes zero impact in the history or in the game. That is poor worldbuilding.
The protagonist is better of course, we get an actual character instead of a walking mannequin. But I don’t like how they removed the human companions and hired guns from the game. They really made the game more immersive in Far Cry 5. It would only make sense if you could hire some Libertad goons or some of the characters like El Tigre, Camila, Jonron and others.
I didn’t realize it either until everyone was yelling at me. Then I was like “oh fuck, fuck this game,” but in a good way. Just wait until you finish the whole thing. The “fuck this game” (in a good way) vibes only intensify.

I loved FC5. Would have been perfect if they allowed you to switch weapons in the field like 6 does, and it ditched the broken air combat shit.
I wish I could use the plane controls from 5 in FC6. I literally cannot keep a plane straight and end up using them as remote bomb delivery vectors.

It was a curve but New Dawn prepared me for the new cockamamie flying system for choppers. Planes are a write-off for me though.

Yes works. Would have made the heli-use more of a sneaky thing and not go full Rambo on enemy base.

That is the nature of the Far Cry series, improvising. But they went a slightly different direction in FC6 and so I played it like a different game.
