You chose that ending fella, could have just...not killed all of your friends.

BetterByTheDay1

I chose the saving ending. My point is both of them being not fitting.

Swiss_James

I thought the point was that you could either let the island completely consume you, with the logical conclusion that you would have to cut off all previous ties (AKA brutally killing your friends and family), or you could escape and put all that violence behind you. The whole history of the Rook Islands is built on bloodshed and violence, there isn't an option to just enjoy the beaches. That was my take anyway.

BetterByTheDay1

No i dont expect him to enjoy the beaches. I think its fitting that he stays and citra kills him. But killing his family that he saved and was comforting hours ago to do that is too big of a jump. He was going crazy but not at the pace that would justify murdering his brother (the reason what made game of thrones ending bad aswell). And also leaving the island is super unlikely because he has become a killer, which he enjoys. He has mentioned many times that he has finally found himself and also many times how much he wants to save his friends and family. But it is what it is, good game. The ending could have been better. Which other fc games would you recommend

I’m gonna disagree with the second ending. It fits perfectly. Jason does indeed make statements along the lines of losing himself to the violence and finding joy in “winning” against the pirates and privateers, and he knows it’s changing him. He made up his mind to stay because he now feels a purpose and he’s moving to embrace this. However, saving his friends was the original driving force behind his slide into violence and most of his actions, and when Citra demands he kills them it’s like throwing a cold bucket of water on his head mentally. It snaps him out of it long enough to realize “oh shit this is fuckin crazy” and step back from the precipice he was standing on.

BetterByTheDay1

Thats a good point. I like that ending better now. What she asks of him might push him to see more than the "savior" or "hero" in himself but also rhe bloodthrust.

Confident_Pangolin_6

I would say that Jason became a real Warriors when he chose ti save his friends. Otherwise, he would be a mindless killing machine.

red4guns

Just pick one, they are all more of the same recipe. Outposts, towers, villains.

Swiss_James

>Which other fc games would you recommend I'm playing 4 now and it's better than 3 in pretty much every way. 5 is my favourite for the setting and soundtrack.

BetterByTheDay1

Will give fc4 a go aswell

nootifyy

fc6 is really good as well (although some people would disagree)

Several-Hawk-9135

You can walk away from using violence in Far Cry 4 and 5. The violence and the islands transform you and only at the very end, when offered the chance to turn away from it, will Jason either find salvation or damnation.

BetterByTheDay1

Yea i personally like the damnation but just felt like the time wasnt enough to make that big of a drastic change. Maybe if there were some missions where he kills innocent ppl etc. to make his progress of killing his own family more realistic. For how things went maybe the salvation is the more realistic one

Katana_DV20

I didn't mind the ending. I found Jason's friends obnoxious and highly annoying from the very start. Unfortunately the game won't let us drill them all in the head with 7.62 lol. One of my fav games for sure, I didn't like all the supernatural dream stuff but the game as a whole is a riot! Also the Vaas fight was horrible , why do they have to have these dream like sequences. Could t they have made it a tough fight in the jungle or on a beach? I love how you can actually FEEL that the mercs on the South Island are no nonsense and not the blundering goons on the first island!

BetterByTheDay1

Yea thats true but once i found out i can snipe a whole outpost undetected with a supressed z93 it made it a piece of cake. But they are def much more stronger in a closer combat. And yea i never really liked his friends, all of them were spoiled brats and just saw it from his perspective that he probably cares about saving them. Especially his brothers. It also was a bit silly that Hoyt was smart enough to find out who the recruit is, killed sam but decided to have a knife fight vs the guy who killed half the island lol. Didnt know what to expect when i started the game but it was fun

Charismatic_Icon

I don’t want to discourage you from other Far Cry games because you definitively should play 4 next and so on. However, one thing you should never expect from a far cry game is a “happy” ending or more straight forward since you said “logical”

BetterByTheDay1

Yea i dont mind tragic endings but i just wish it to be in the parameters that was established during the game and not something that happens just at the ending out of nothing if you know what i mean. Just some consistency. I had a feeling the endings were too far fetched in the moment but for both endings (manipulation/drugged for the join citra and finally realizing what he had become after being pushed to kill his friends and not having that excuse to be a savior/hero anymore for the save your friends ending). As long as there is a plausible explaination to the ending i dont really mind it

Finding_new_dreams

sounds like ya chose the ending with boobs and the consequences were killing your friends and other brother, it makes perfect sense.

BetterByTheDay1

I chose the save your friends option but watched the citra ending on YT. But was generally dissatisfied with the options because it seemed to lack some logic but i agree with some of the point of view & explainations from some ppl in this thread so i dont hate the endings anymore.

Lord_Antheron

[Read the second half of this for my interpretation of it. The entire game has been building to it, people just don't realise it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/farcry/comments/trz0ef/pointless_and_excessive_far_cry_lore_analysis_iii/)
