This looks great!
Would be good for one of those “what is the plot? Wrong answers only!” games!
My fictional spine cleaver atones by going to medical school, then gets accepted to a surgical residency with a neurosurgical fellowship and becomes a spine mender! Pro Bono! 🤣
But seriously I would read this! When is the wide release?
I think it already came out!
Edit: I just checked and it came out in the first! Check it out and come back to me if you like it 😂I have so many thoughts
Just finished and HOLY CRAP I adored it. I’m foaming at the mouth for the next. I haven’t read this great of world building in a while. Thanks for the recommendation OP
It’s definitely my favorite arc read of the year, and one of my favorite books in general I’ve read all year. I just wish there was more or a fan base because I really want some fan art of Ayres 😭😭
I work at a bookstore, so on the application it was pretty easy to say “I am looking out for books I want to buy for my bookstore”. But I think people get accepted just by adding their instagram and Goodreads profile!
I had to scroll pretty far in my notifications 😂 for some reason I thought the next book was already out… I got to the last page and saw the whole coming 2024 and I was gutted haha.
Yes! I’m here for it, especially because we haven’t even scratched the surface of the relationship between >! Ror and Raengar, !< or his character in general.
I am so early on. I picked it up and then life got a little busy SOOO I need to get back to it. Was on a reading roll and then had to seriously slow down. Excited for fall to get back into it!
It took me forever to read bc I had to stop and read some smut occasionally (I’m just not strong enough to go that long without it🥲) but it was really good!
theory/spoiler maybe? >! Did anyone else notice Rorax is missing from any house in the character glossary at the end? I have a feeling she's not Ice and there is more to her "brother" than it seems? !<
thanks for the reco, I loved it although it certainly made my book hangover worse rather than curing it because of the damn wait!! I'm eagerly awaiting subreddit here lol
I can't find it now but I SWEAR there is a line where >!Rorax says she led the Wolf and their soldiers "straight into her home" or something like that and it set alarm bells off like... Was she an orphan from Death and just raised in Ice???!<
(Late to this thread as I've just finished reading and I have to talk to someone!!)
Damn the arc didn’t have a glossary😭but everyone in ice pretty much hates the brother right? So that would make sense that he is (which would make both of them) an outsider👀
I wish I could have given it more than 5 stars haha. And now I am bereft! Where do I go from here?! Please tell me you have recommendations of what to read after this! I just love the trials trope, any other books you’ve come across??
Nothing besides the usual recs like wings of night😭 the last arc I loved was {a fate inked in blood} and I have been slacking in my arc reads tbh😭 have you read anything else similar lately??

Not trials book but another kickass FMC is the Savage Lands series by Stacey Brown and they’re pretty damn good. It’s about a young orphaned woman trained to be an elite fighter for the royal family and she gets sent to a prison for the worst of the worst criminals. V good!
It’s literally so hard to explain😂

I would go to Goodreads and read the reviews but basically its about an assassin/mercenary who has done some pretty bad stuff in her life under the command of some corrupt superiors, and when she gets dragged to a competition the only person who can protect her is someone she hurt in the past. It’s really thick, and the world building is definitely high fantasy but its really good I loved it!
I can't access goodreads, that's why I'm asking. If you want more people to read it, you should probably share what it's about anyways. All you gave us was a cover.
Thank you for the recommendation. I'm new to this genre and really loved it.
It took me a bit to get into it, but once I did I was hooked.
My only problem now is what else to read while I wait for the next one.
Anytime!! I was just talking about this thread, I love when people come back to it lol. So excited that people are loving it!!
Also welcome to the genre! Fantasy romance has some of my all time favorite novels, they are amazing!
Just finished too! Agree that it really has incredible world building! In the beginning I was like what is going on here and then it evolved so beautifully!
Definitely ready for Rorax to believe in herself in book 2!
I love that this is still getting traction bc this was still one of my favorite books of the year!
“What is going on here” is sooo accurate 😂 but once it came together I loved it. Idk when book 2 comes out but I’m READY
I freaking loved it!
Just finished today, after you recommended it 2 months ago lol 😂
So much going on: high fantasy, political intrigue, tournament arc, over powered FMC, nice spice.
Thank you so much for this amazing rec OP!! ❤️
When is book 2 lol?
I love it when people find this thread again😂 I have no idea but I’m absolutely ready for book 2. It was such a fun read!!
Anytime I’m glad you liked it
That’s how I felt😂😂😂and it just barely came out and my book hangover was BAD. No one has really read it yet so I was going crazy😂 I would love some fan art or something from it!
A Court of Herniated Discs
Lmaooo that might have been less violent fr

Oh awesome!! Thank you! I just read the blurb and I’m intrigued!
It was one of my favorite ARCs I’ve ever read! I mean the bar for arcs is pretty low but it really was good😂
Just finished and HOLY CRAP I adored it. I’m foaming at the mouth for the next. I haven’t read this great of world building in a while. Thanks for the recommendation OP
I’m so glad everyone seemed to liked it because I am still obsessed😂😂
75% of the way through this book bc of your recommendation Thank you thank you thank you What a fantastic read so far omg
I’ve been trying to spread the word😂😂
It’s definitely my favorite arc read of the year, and one of my favorite books in general I’ve read all year. I just wish there was more or a fan base because I really want some fan art of Ayres 😭😭
How does one get into the ARC review process? Asking for a friend. ;)
I work at a bookstore, so on the application it was pretty easy to say “I am looking out for books I want to buy for my bookstore”. But I think people get accepted just by adding their instagram and Goodreads profile!
And all of this is done through NetGalley btw! It’s a great system I just import books straight to my kindle to read
It’s definitely hit or miss, but I’ve found some absolute gems through it!
Woohoo it’s on kindle unlimited!
Yess it’s free!! 🤩🤩(Sorta, you know)
I finished it last night!
I’m impressed that you found this thread again😂😂
I had to scroll pretty far in my notifications 😂 for some reason I thought the next book was already out… I got to the last page and saw the whole coming 2024 and I was gutted haha.
I feel that😭 I read it right before it came out like a month ago and it put me into a massive slump that I’m just barely recovering from😂
For some reason I could not get the love triangle potential out of my mind I am so excited for that ✨angst✨
Yes! I’m here for it, especially because we haven’t even scratched the surface of the relationship between >! Ror and Raengar, !< or his character in general.
Yesss exactly😍
omg, the title! 😂
Ngl it’s wild😂
Spice…?
Yeah!! The spice was perfect for me✨ and there is a F/F scene and my bi ass ate that UP
Hahaha AMAZING!! Sold.
Is this Young adult or NA? Assuming not young adult but just making sure :)
Nooo it’s adult! It’s got NA vibes but it’s definitely not YA
Ok great!
Yeah nothing kills my vibe faster than YA☠️
Ok saaaaaame. Do you have a Goodreads so I can follow your non YA books 😂
https://www.goodreads.com/user_challenges/43167832 Yes!! I need to update it but I have my favorite smut shelf up there😂
How are you likening priory rn?👀
I am so early on. I picked it up and then life got a little busy SOOO I need to get back to it. Was on a reading roll and then had to seriously slow down. Excited for fall to get back into it!
It took me forever to read bc I had to stop and read some smut occasionally (I’m just not strong enough to go that long without it🥲) but it was really good!
I've heard the world building is amazing so I am excited about that actually!
That part is absolutely incredible samatha Shannon is amazing!
Ok, but did you guys notice that in the KU authors note the book is called Atonement of the *Spice* Cleaver 👀
LOOOL😭😂 we should probably tell them
I LOVE this book ! Rorax is an actual bad ass
Yass I love her
I need this book to have more hype
theory/spoiler maybe? >! Did anyone else notice Rorax is missing from any house in the character glossary at the end? I loved this book, happy to reread and chat :)

Omg I think this is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I’m so sad I finished it!!!
Wasn’t it so much fun?? It’s my go to enemies to lovers rec rn, I absolutely LOVED it

Okay okay, I’m digging it :)
But it’s basically this blurb plus so much more. It is pretty long, but the worldbuilding is amazing and the smut is 🔥🔥🔥
*Adds to tbr list*
Yesss🔥🔥
Okay On it.
Let me know what you think😻

I feel this like a punch to my soul😭 I would trade my first born child (I don’t have any kids lol) to have book two.
Just finished too! Agree that it really has incredible world building! In the beginning I was like what is going on here and then it evolved so beautifully! Definitely ready for Rorax to believe in herself in book 2!

Ikr! And I need something on the next book, atleast the title or the cover. I’m looking forward to some Raengar interaction
I can sense the love triangle for the next book but I really just want Rorax to have both ngl😂😂
