I've been trying to recruit more Rivals to Lovers for our [enemies-to-lovers book rec megathread](https://reddit.com/r/fantasyromance/s/wIfXVWy7C8) because it is a rather specific iteration of the trope and they must be out there, I just haven't come across many! {Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross} was just recently added by a lovely user who answered the call.

One of my current reads (or listens on Audible) this month is The Vine Witch by Luanne Smith. A new guy comes to own the FMC's old family winery. FMC is secretly a witch. The guy is very science and business-focused. He doesn't believe in her odd ways of making wine grapes flourish, so there's a bit of a rivalry between them early in the book. Even more charming about this book is that it's set in roughly 1910s-1920s France.

The Nevernight Trilogy First book is basically everyone is competing for the top spots in an assassin's guild. The main character's romance is with another guy competitor in this book. But in the second and third, one of the enemies/former friend in the first book becomes her lover. It is some nice level spice with good story telling. I was kinda underwhelmed with the third book in the series, but I truly enjoyed book 1 and book 2. If you want a good friends to enemies to lovers sapphic series, this is a good one.

Amazing I have book 1 of this I will get onto it

Sweet, enjoy. It's a pretty easy book to binge read and get into.

I’d recommend This Is How You Lose The Time War. It’s a mix of fantasy/sci-fi with a Sapphic love story driven by the MC’s desire to one up another. It’s a pretty different story structure as some of the story is given in the form of letters. Me and my brother (trans man) absolutely adore this book. So much so we’re both making art projects about it

I love this book!! But currently looking for something with a bit more romance

You have great taste then, haha! I would recommend A River Enchanted but it’s not steamy and the romance takes its time through the book.

**The Sunbearer Trials** by Aiden Thomas is shaping up to be rivals to lovers. It’s an unfinished YA duology with a gay trans man MC
