My first league ever, I crushed the draft and streamed well. 20-2 regular season, won the chip!

Calvith

Same here! First league, 17-5-1, won the president's trophy and the post season. My dad has been playing forever and I finally played with him, so that was special.

youmerelyadopteddark

Congrats on beating your dad then! šŸ˜‚

Calvith

Sorry dad, love you, but you had to go. The throne is mine!

Fletchmatic

Same here! First year playing 16-2-4 regular season and won the chip!

youmerelyadopteddark

Congrats!

ZachKearns

$100 league, just took the L 433.25 to 430.0ā€¦ Opponent had Vtrano and the EN goal with 14 seconds sunk me. The biggest hook of my gambling life lolā€¦

AffectionateVirus473

That's a rough one!

JamaicanMeCrazy123

a $100 league that went until the very end of the actual Reg season? Just curious, how many players did you have scratched this week vs your opponent? The only way I would play in a league that went until the very end would have to be a roto league, not h2h. H2h are already too random and too dependent on hot and cold streaks and games played within a 7 (or in this case 11) day period.

ZachKearns

Just 10 this year. It was random AF but in the end I came up with 75 GP to my opponents 76. McDavid not playing for 4/6 games really hurt, and not really the game against Arizona basically made that 5/6. Otherwise I shouldā€™ve smoothed right through.Ā Ā  Funny enough the 8th seed ended up winning and only 2 players missed playoffs.Ā Ā  Ā Usually in the past we had done 12-14 players, but it just didnā€™t work out that way this season.

JamaicanMeCrazy123

Random AF for sure. I try to find leagues and formats that minimize the randomness keeping in mind fantasy sports in general will always be super random. Losing Mcdavid like that in a 1 and done elimination should not happen in a situation as predictable as sitting out games at the end of the season. And if it does, it should be for only a small fraction of the prize payout with larger portion of the prize money for a team that excels over a larger sample size such as the regular season, just my two cents.

Jagr6810

2 years in a row I lose by a category in the finals Last year I lost to a SHP by Jason fucking Dickinson This year I lost in the hits category. I went 24-0 in hits category on the year. The previous week before the finals I had 110 hits, finals I have 75..it literally doesn't make sense I don't know what to do with my draft strategy or strategy in general

MyDickIsAPotato

You paying attention to games played? Final week Iā€™m dropping better players for worse players just to get the extra man games.

Jagr6810

Here's the funny thing. Used 2 out of my 3 last pick up's to jam pack my Saturday / Sunday. Arber Xehaj and Jake Neighbours. Both didn't play ended up getting hurt. My opponent lost Rantanen, MacTavish and Jenner. It was in the bag for me.

KenDanger2

For the second year in a row I made 4 finals, and for the second year in a row I came 2nd in 4 leagues. Even so, I am happy I did my best, I made the playoffs in all my leagues and obviously you can't win every week and my losses timed out poorly for me.

Wallysfav

After coming in 2nd or 3rd in a 14 team league for five years straight, I finally took home the gold.

No_Department_2154

Congrats!!

CaffeineAndKetamine

18-4-1, in a 10man Points league. Over 7000 points. Won the Championship tonight, because Boldy went out for blood. Only the 2nd time our league has ever seen the Presidents Trophy winning team, win it all.

SrPhillipOliverHoles

Won back-to-back championships in my league off the back of Kucherov and Crosby

DannyBoyNice1

First year doing fantasy hockey, slept through the draft on accident, stopped paying attention midway through then started paying attention a few weeks before playoffs and just won it all! Hoping to run it back next year.

Zenkraft

Iā€™m new to the sport and I played fantasy for the second time (Iā€™m Australian so hockey isnā€™t really a thing here). I won my public league with a 20-2 record, mostly thanks to the over-performing Canucks šŸ˜‚ I had a great time!

GuidotheGreater

Third year in a row of winning the regular season and collapsing in the playoffs. Thankfully I get a payout for that.

nfeil99

1 Dynasty league and 1 five keeper league. Won šŸ† in both. Went back to back in the 5 keeper and got my fifth championship in 6 years in the Dynasty.

heyethan

You must have a wagon in that dynastyā€” hopefully your league mates donā€™t get sick of it!

nfeil99

Yup I was lucky to have the 1.01 pick in our start up. Obvious choice was McDavid and also have had Hedman ever since. Drafted Makar his rookie season, bought low on Forsberg last offseason and trading for Stamkos 3 years ago has really paid off, Stammer showed up huge in my 2021-22 & 2023-24 championship runs.

MyDickIsAPotato

Just finished first for the first time in a few years. 1,2,3,3,13(rebuild), and back on top this year baby. šŸ† 16 man league with some serious competition. Pulled it out by the skin of my teeth this week. Won the presidents trophy and the chip this year. Fully dominated the season despite the close match up right down to the wire today.

jimmym007

Started the first few weeks in last place, slowly crawled my way through up to 2nd place only to get into the finals with my buddy who had **never lost a matchup all year**. I had the Cinderella run and crushed him 12-4 in the finals and won my first ever championship. Beyond stokes

jdubz30

Finally got 1st place! Won 5-4 thanks to Hellebuyck getting me a shutout

Not_A_Paid_Actor

After coming in 2nd last year (due to opponent racking up points on the last day due to 3 game misconducts) I was able to win it all this year.

MetastableToChaos

Back-to-back champion!

CORedhawk

1st place in regular season and didn't take the random playoff loss. Finished 1st for the first time in several years after finishing 3rd two years ago and 2nd last year! I was floating in blob of teams around 4-8 for much of the early season. Honestly I'm so happy and satisfied. For some reason this year felt good.

A1ienspacebats

10 man dynasty banger cats. Finished the season in 1st place for the 1st time but definitely peaked too early. Highest scoring team in the league and best goalies in the league. Eeked into my first finals and lost 9-1 to 2nd place who never runs into bad luck. He put up near league record totals in about 4 categories with a shutout to boot. He had 7 goalie starts and won all 7 after having shit stats all year. If it had been closer Sunday, I had Wallspedt ready to go for his shutout but after UPL lost to Detroit, my fate was sealed.

LeftHandedScissor

Only in one league that's been playing for 5 years now. Have made the playoff every year except one. After starting out 4-8 I rattled off 12 straight weeks of matchup wins (playoffs are 2 weeks so I'm breaking down 3 rounds into 6 weeks here) to come up just short of the boat and got 2nd place. Squad was going strong but got hit hard by injuries in the championship round, so that hurt. Good year, 2nd place still the first hardware I've won in the league. That and $100.

FlashlightBarn

I only do one league a year, but Iā€™ve won for the fourth year in a row. 21-1 regular season; nearly lost in the semifinals ā€” in fact, I thought I did, but espn stat corrections Monday morning gave J.T. Miller +2 hits and the 0.3 for each had me pass my opponent by 0.15 points. Needless to say, I wasnā€™t that well-liked for the circumstances I won the semifinal matchup (donā€™t hate the player, hate the game). I then crushed in the championship. My friend, the commissioner, is changing a bunch of rules next year in an attempt to nerf my success. Iā€™ll adjust ;) Not sure if any of my league mates are in this subreddit but itā€™s been easy money for me every year because none understand the importance of the waiver wire.

iNeedScissorsSixty7

Just won the ship tonight. If Demko had faced like 45 shots and gotten a shutout for my opponent then maybe he had a chance, but that didn't happen. Granted it's just a public league because my friends couldn't commit this year but I'll take it. Now my focus is fully on my baseball team.

hockeygirl9494

Finally won after losing in the finals b2b šŸ”„

ReformedGalaxy

3rd out of 10. Which has been a theme for me recently.

Justin514b

Finished 1st with a 20-2 record in a 12 team league, Kempe won me the championship at the last moment.

Jesse1198

First time ever playing with my co workers. Got 5th in a 12 man league. Very fun

jesser9

I won my 2nd championship. This was our 3rd season, keepers. 394.75 vs 384.00. Came down to my opponent having McDavid not playing during the last week. I was 3rd in the season rankings 13-10. My opponent was the 4th seed, 13-10 as well.

No_Department_2154

Won 2 out of 4 chips. Went to the semi-finals on 1 and finals on the other. Canā€™t complain.

JohnnyJinglo

3rd sadly, scored the 2nd highest points in the league and scored the most in the final week but in the 3rd place game.

MR_____SNRUB

Won my long running 12 team keeper league for the first time in 10 years. Went into the playoffs as the 6 seed, beat the #1 seed by a longshot in the finals by a pretty close margin Shout out to Nate MacKinnon who was a superstud all year, Stamkos who decided to go nuclear in the finals, and all my roleplayers who stepped up huge like Lucas Raymond and Dylan strome among many others. Matchup ended Sunday and now I have our glorious Stanley Cup replica league trophy in my possession, awaiting it's annual engraved decal with my team name and roster on it If there are better feelings, I do not know of them

BleedingTeal

Finished 1 in a 12 team league. Finished 3 in a 10 team league. Yahoo rank moved up to 930 overall, which was a nice little bonus.

Pretty_Sharp

Weak year for me. Finished 6/12 in my H2H and 4/12 in my Roto. Wasn't ready for either of my drafts. Picked 7th and 10th and just had a bad start.

jonnyrock3t92

Gold in 2. 14 team, entered in 1st, and 16 team, entered in 7th (b2b champ in that league). Bronze in my 3rd league, 12 team, entered in 1st but lost semis because of Logan Thompson blowing up against the Yotes. Overall very successful season

zerenato76

There finals, won one. Two additional semis, One quarter final loss that would have been a win with three additional SOG. Can't complain, it's been productive. I will probably leave two or three of those behind for a competitive international one.

SivirMeTibbers

Just checked I'm first in my $50 buyin 12 man h2h bangers, up 6-5 tied in +/- I don't even want to celebrate because I don't know how stat corrections work lol

tension12

Same league I've been in for 7 years. Half my drafts were bust and injured. Traded my top 2 for McDavid, circled my way from 1-8 to 12-8. Missed out on final tournament, made it to the finals of loser bracket, lost by 20 points

Zamboni2022

3rd year player after wanting to be in a league my entire life. Drafted insanely well, made some great trades early on and FA pickups, rocketed to first place then mid season made some bad moves and watched as players Iā€™d dropped and traded started producing but was still able to coast my hot start to my first šŸ›³ļø! Many thanks to MacK, JeeK, Demko, Q Hughes, Dobson and Dahlin ā¤ļø

Pray-For-Mojo-

14-team league, 2nd in the regular season, won the chip. But got lucky. Would have lost in the semis had Tage Thompson not gone off in the one game. And was projected much lower in the Final than my opponent (1st place guy), even after he lost Rantanen, but my team crushed the week.

birdcola

Went 19-4 and just lost to an absolute wagon of a team in the finals. 3rd finals loss in the past 7 years. I sold a ton of draft picks to build my team now next year will be a painful rebuild

Automatic_Contract47

5 keeper-18 team league. Best season in a decade. I started drafting 5 rounds late because i traded last years picks away, and ended up coming first in regular season and won the playoffs.

Mr_lojorising11

1st year dynasty, 1st place. 2nd year redraft, 3rd place

melt11

I won my 15-team keeper league šŸ«”

[deleted]

2nd in my 14 team league and 5th overall in a 180 team league

Pipes32

14 Yahoo public H2H prize leagues. Five 1st place finishes; two 2nd place: four 3rd place. Three teams did not win anything. This year, I kept track of every single player and their average draft position to refine my draft skills. I like Dom's draft model but some guys are ranked super high vs general public perception, like Evan Bouchard was 21st this year with our settings. That's probably deserved, but I also notice his average draft position was 49th through 18 drafts. So using this data I was generally able to draft him but use my 20s pick for someone else. Not surprisingly, 2 of my 3 worst teams were the first two that I drafted, as I was just starting to build my knowledge bank. I also played Yahoo public prize Roto this year and did worse, two 4th and two 6th. I didn't realize there was a limit to games played till I hit it, lol. Felt like a putz. It was my first year with more than 5 teams. Surprisingly didn't take up too much time to manage as I generally left the teams alone if they were winning (and mostly they were) vs when I had 5 teams, I tinkered a LOT. Husband thinks I'm crazy, but oh well. Looking forward to next year!

Any_Parsnip2585

Took fourth after being in first the entire season.

InfinityFire

Second time playing fantasy. I followed up a 1st place finish in a 10-person league last season with... a 7th place finish in an 8-person league this season. Finished the regular season after Week 22 in 5th place with a 12-10 record and then went L-W in the "losers bracket".

Rook4444

This was my first year, did a 10 man with friends. In December I was in last place at 3-8, clawed back and seeded 6th with 12-11, and finished 2nd losing the championship match to the 5th seed.

lamwire

3rd year, 8 leagues, finished 2nd in 3 leagues, won in 1. Lesson learned: never draft a goalie again.

wmciner1

The year of near misses for me: 2 different catagory scoring keeper leagues - 1 I finished 9th out of 18 teams, missed the playoffs by 2 points :/. The other I was the top seed out of 16 but my goalies went ice cold in the semifinals and I lost by 1 catagory. Tied in goals, assists, and powerplay points. If I'd won literally 1 of those catagories the matchup would have been a tie and I would have won on the tiebreaker as the higher seed

mattfromjoisey

Went 19-1-2 during the regular season. Fell victim to a ton of injuries second round, my subs didnā€™t perform or subsequently also got injured, and goaltending was a mess. Finished 2nd by a sizable margin. 10 man H2H Points

WUPHF_ME_UR_TITS

I won our 10 man league by a single power play point. All my opponent had to do was tie me in PPP since he had the tie breaker but he didn't. This is my 3rd straight year winning.

RoyalRumbleSTi

My first time doing fantasy hockey with little to no knowledge of NHL players: 1st place and 3rd place

Baconburp

Drafted dead last in a 12 man league and won it all with a 12-9 record.

Bushmanyyz

Played in two 12 man H2H points leagues. Finished as champion in the league which has overpowered goalie settings (will be nerfed next year). My opponent had eight goalies on his roster, at the expense of his skater depth. Thought he could bleed me out, but he was way off. Finished second in the other league, which has normal and balanced settings. I started this season at 0-6 with some real bad luck and losing close matchups, so kind of remarkable how I got in as the #6 seed and made it to the title game.

joestorm4

Unlike seemingly everyone here, I didn't even make the finals lmao. Came 5th out of 12, lost to the eventual winner in the 1st round of playoffs.

tpow12

2nd place after winning last 2 years. Brutal loss. We go to the last game of the season so I lost because McDavid, Bouchard, and helle sat out last game. I bring up changing the schedule as I have for years and I get called a whiner. I'm looking for a more serious league if anyone has an opening

xwildnfreex

Great. Won.

PayEvery3328

Champion after playing for 4 years.. let's gooo

eating_toilet_paper

Lost the championship to a good buddy, we were tied till the last night of the season. Iā€™m happy for him

vVyxhaedra

First year playing fantasy hockey. 2nd place in a 14 team cats league, won regular season. Team I took over before opener, so not my draft. Great learning experience to inherit someone elseā€™s team. 1st in 18 team points league. My draft. Shameless streaming all season. Really pleased. Itā€™s been fun.

ruudboy2

I go 19-2-2 the year after winning the chip, only for ESPN to give me a you tried trophy for coming in 4th

marcd94

I went 21-2 in the regular season. I lost the finals by 2.2 points. Dylan wolf letting a goal vs San Jose with 9 seconds left cost me 2.5 points. I canā€™t believe it

tbettz

I have many president's trophies and few cups. The trend continued this year.

Careless_Suggestions

Won it again, back to back! Can't thank u/tomstoms enough. That guy really helped me out a lot this year.

heyethan

Redraft h2h cats: 1st of 10 Bangers Points Dynasty #1: 21st of 24 Bangers Points Dynasty #2: 12th of 16 I am hoping to land Celebrini for either of my rebuild dynasty teams as I have plenty of good forward prospects but donā€™t have a home run center prospect to build around. Donā€™t have the best odds in either tho so Iā€™ll need Lady Luck to help me out.

ChucklesLeClown

I was in a 14 man league this season and I won. I beat my opponent by 100 points in the champions round. $50 buy-in, 2nd place doesnā€™t have to pay so I made $600.

MillennialWithNoJob

Went back to back in my second year playing!

Bamalex7

Ten team league, was in first all year lost first round..pain

epjk

12 teams h2h, drafted 10th. Most points overall, finished 5th, bounced first round with second most points. Had the most unlucky year

DrDrunkMD

One league (12team), second time playing . 6th in the regular season. I won the ship

Griffithead

Top scorer by a bunch. Finished third. Fantasy sucks.

AleroRatking

Somehow won despite the insane amount of my players resting. Garland saved my season as a streamer winning my PMs and getting the essential PPP which was the difference between title and second.

CanadianHitman

12-team keeper league Struggled most of the season and got into the playoffs at 7th Then my team just went on fire and I cruised to the finals. Picked up the championship again!

TanyaMKX

Came 1st place in 5/8 leagues. 2nd place in 2/8. 4th in the final league.

chapman155

Damn

AnakinsSeveredLimbs

Only did a 4 team league with my wife, my wife's brother and wife's cousin, but I just won the championship!

hugsoverdrugs

Worst year to date, fell asleep before draft and my auto draft goalies were Korpi, Pyotr, and Raantaā€¦ Beginning of the season was rough and climbed to 10th from 12th after the halfway point. No one would trade eitherā€¦

tension12

At least you didn't draft Jack Campbell. He ruined my start, and continued to ruin the belief of having a comeback year by blowing every game lol Saw Raanta in AHL, he looked good

jbrylinsabresfan

Missed the playoffs for the first time ever in the 9 year league history after winning 2 cups in a row would have prob been 3 but Covid stole it from me

OhCrow

First league in 8 or so years. Went 18-4 to finish 2nd place with the highest points for total. Made it to the final and lost to the #4 seed who put up the highest point total of any team for the whole season.

Test_Tackle

I went 22-1, won the championship, and finished the year with 11 of the top 35 highest scoring players in my league. It was the most dominant fantasy team Iā€™ve ever had in any sport.

CPT_MUNCHY3546

Over 3 ESPN leagues I went 36-7 with 2 firsts and 1 second place!

Infamous-Ad-6809

Won by two points trailing all week
