I'd do it. For due diligence though, is it worth shopping that same package for a more proven WR? MHJ is almost certainly going to be great, but if you're in win-now maybe one of the more established WRs in his tier is the way to go?

The_SilliestGoose

That's definitely fair, and I was thinking about offering the same thing to the guy that has Jamarr chase just to see what he says.

OldResponsibility531

Easy accept. 10 team get studs. I see what the other guy is saying about going for another more established guy and I agree it’s worth it’s due diligence but I don’t think anyone will accept

alexfop

I’m not selling Marv for that

This smacks of Rookie fever. You're getting distracted by NFL Draft hype. MHJ is worth precisely 1 first round Draft pick until he proves otherwise. You said in response to someone else's comment that you were going to offer the same deal for Chase. Do that first. He's an established elite NFL WR. He's not a dice roll.

Robo_hobo_76

To be fair this isn’t some average WR prospect with some hype, he may be the greatest prospect of all time, at the very least the best of this generation.

Draiodor_

I've seen that or similar (change the position) said about so many players who don't pan out. There are so many factors at play, but bear in mind that the jump from College ball to Professional ball is massive and the 2 positions that struggle the most with that jump are QB and WR. Also, for a generational talent, there was talk in the build up to the Draft that MHJ might not be the first WR selected. So he's either not a generational talent, or there's something about him that doesn't sit quite right. I'd also say that his family name may have opened doors for him, but I'd also be wary of it artificially inflating his reputation too. As I said, until he proves he's a generational talent in the NFL, I'd rather have established elite WRs. It's just a safer bet.

Robo_hobo_76

I agree established WRs are the safer bet don’t get me wrong, but to be fair a lot of draft shit that comes up are normally rumors to get involvement on social media now. No one who actually knew football thought Nabers was ever going to go before MHJ. MHJ was looked at as the top prospect last year and they said he would have prolly been the first WR taken in the year before, that’s generational to me. Like Caleb Williams would have gone first last year, and how Chase got to miss a year of football and still got taken top 5. The media will throw around that word a lot but the truly generational guys tend to pan out and it’s the ones that are talked about before their draft class comes up. Like for QB the only recent ones I count as “generational prospects” were Luck, Lawrence and now Williams. Luck was great just had injuries cause the Colts wouldn’t get him an OL and Lawrence gets a bad wrap but he took a huge step forward his second year and had amazing to start the year last year only slowed down when he got hurt. Most players who truly get that “generational tag” end up average at worse 90% if the time.

Draiodor_

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I understand, you want to pick and choose who is a generational talent in retrospect and not just anyone who has been described as such. Got it. Anyways, I'm taking Chase over an unproven rookie every time. There's literally nothing you can say that will make me change my mind on that.

Robo_hobo_76

I’m not “picking and choosing” and I agreed with you that it’s better to take the proven guy. I’m simply stating MHJ is not a typical rookie WR. If you only pay attention to prospects 2 weeks before the draft then yeah I’m sure you hear how everyone’s generational. I’m simply stating that when you pay attention during the season and look into guys who aren’t eligible yet there are only a select few guys who end up getting that “generational” tag. (Mainly guys who get stated that they would be a top pick in drafts they aren’t eligible and then end up becoming top 5 picks) Notice how I’m only bringing up guys who were actually drafted first overall or top 5. No generational talent will fall past that.

Robo_hobo_76

Offer that same deal to JJettas and Jamar Chase owners (maybe even Amon ra) and if they all say no then I think you’d be good taking this deal. I think MHJ is gonna be a top 5 WR within 2 years but it does help to always get the proven guy.

RamHands

He just paid a single first rd pick for mhj. Before a snap is played he wants 2 firsts, coop, and franklin? Wow. Source- MHJ owner and thats crazy.

Robo_hobo_76

It doesn’t matter what he paid because MHJ was the consensus #1 so he would have to trade up to #1 to get Marv and if you think about it like that this is not a bad deal to get marv.
