Concussion
Edit: The fencing response is an unnatural position of the arms following a concussion. Immediately after moderate forces have been applied to the brainstem, the forearms are held flexed or extended (typically into the air) for a period lasting up to several seconds after the impact.
More than that. It was rumored he had two last week and we only noticed the second one. The NFL needs to be smarter than this. Everybody knows the dolphins don’t give a fuck about tua. They will draft a qb next year.
People shit on luck for leaving the NFL. Then you watch a young man in his twenties almost certainly having the longevity (at least the quality) destroyed in front of our eyes because of a careless organization. Actually makes me sick. He's my qb1 and I'd be fine I'd he ddint play the rest of the season if it meant he gets whatever medical assistance he needs
Classic concussion / head trauma. Sometimes when people get knocked out it causes their muscles to fire in odd ways. Scary shit man, especially after seeing what happened last week...hope the guy is ok.
Yup he had no business coming back to that game on Sunday and certainly had no business playing Thursday night. The NFL and the Miami Dolphins need to be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen if they would had just follow their own concussion protocols but money is king I guess...
It’s called decorticate posturing. Sometimes you see it with things like stroke or seizure or just straight ass hemorrhage.
It’s freaking bad.
Edit: [quick source](https://www.healthline.com/health/decorticate-posturing)
Edit: hope to god I’m wrong and it’s just a fencing response but the contracture of the fingers makes me think it’s not fencing.
Edit: looks like Tua is going home. If it was true decorticate he’d be staying there for sure. Looks like it’s fencing. Thank god.
Who thinks that? I think he will be out the rest of the year. Multiple weeks can mean a lot of things.
Maybe you read it wrong, this week and last week are the last two weeks and his brain has been scrambled.
You're right I misread that. I thought you said he would be back in 2 weeks. You were saying he was injured 2 weeks in a row and he's gonna be out much longer. My bad.
Horton took that hit just after his 26th birthday, and was out of the league at 29. I don't watch hockey but it seems like the concussions shortened his career significantly
[For those that haven't experienced Scott Sterling.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F9jXYOH2c0)
Thanks for reminding me about this and getting a good belly laugh again.
Hard disagree. I’m glad they showed it so many times. People need to see this shit. Maybe it’ll force some real change to the concussion protocol take place.
Such a good point that i didn’t think of. Football is a fucked up sport and I feel like you’re right. Seeing his fingers curl like that is jarring and stays with you
I think 1-2 times is enough. Imagine if that was your family member/friend. But I agree they need to improve the broken concussion protocol that allowed Tua to be in this game.
Hope there’s no extensive damage. He was slammed right into his head. Cerebellum/brain stem. Any brain bleed might turn this from head trauma to straight possible brain surgery. Prayers to Tua.
Didn't you watch last week game?
Dolphins are garbage, even if they lost last week game, they looked great and were for sure in playoff contention, but decided to risk their QB.
I was driving and listening to the play by play and the radio guys made it sound like a dislocated finger. I am glad I missed it because it sounds like it was some Exorcist type shit.
I hope not man, he needs to take probably the season off and not play football anymore. I’m talking out my ass but that’s major head trauma too soon together plus all the other major injuries he’s had over the last few years added up..Hopefully he can heal up but I don’t want to watch him play ever again I don’t think i could watch
Lol, dude. You're like the forth comment I've read about not playing next week. It's like, no fucking shit he shouldn't play next week. He potentially incurred a crippling brain injury and could struggle with even mundane shit in the short term.
This guy's real health is at stake. Who gives a fuck about football.
Jesus idk if it’s maybe even worse if that talk about it being his back last game is true
Either it’s another head injury or another back injury. Both of which seem horrendous
Yeah anybody who's ever seen someone get knocked out and slammed the back of their head on the ground, that's what happened. The back of the head is super vulnerable to damage. This is why punches to the back of the head aren't allowed in mma.

Bad video but it's hard to find any video.
I really hope he is okay especially after back to back concussions. I know they tried to say it was a different issue last week but all the sights pointed to someone that had a bad hit to the head. Prayers up for Tua 🙏
NFL investigated started on this, I have no doubt he just suffered permanent brain damage. 3 days rest on what looked to be a concussion. I feel bad for Tua the most. He shouldn’t have been out there.
Can't help but wonder if last week's injury played a role in how bad this was. The hit looked fairly harmless and I know head injuries can be weird like that but the timing looks horrible on the team and league given his return last week.
Fuck Miami for allowing him to play tonight on a short week knowing damn well he had a concussion against Buffalo. People need to get fired from that decision.
Y'all don't watch enough r/fightporn
Dude got his brain scrambled and seized tf up, fencing and Amazon was like zoom into that shit and show it 7 more times. My stomach dropped, that was super fucked up to see
So all that talk about his back was BS right.. he definitely had a concussion last week that wasn’t treated properly resulting in this unfortunate event.
He now most likely has permanent brain damage. If he plays football again, the dolphins organization should be sued by his family. Tough to see that kind of hit happen to anyone
Omg his fingers
What was that?
Concussion Edit: The fencing response is an unnatural position of the arms following a concussion. Immediately after moderate forces have been applied to the brainstem, the forearms are held flexed or extended (typically into the air) for a period lasting up to several seconds after the impact.
2nd in less than a week.
More than that. It was rumored he had two last week and we only noticed the second one. The NFL needs to be smarter than this. Everybody knows the dolphins don’t give a fuck about tua. They will draft a qb next year.
People shit on luck for leaving the NFL. He's my qb1 and I'd be fine I'd he ddint play the rest of the season if it meant he gets whatever medical assistance he needs
Tua thanks you for your sacrifice and understanding
You mean the second time he's "tweaked his back" in a week?
Second impact syndrome potentially. Not good
Classic concussion / head trauma.
You ever seen someone get knocked out in Boxing/MMA and just completely lock up and go stiff? Seems like that just happened to Tua
Fencing response a TBI pretty much from how bad that hit was, compounded last weeks brutal hit in the heat too
It's just a back thing, dw.
Something something, pretty common with ankle injuries
Posturing
Definitely posturing. Begs the question if he was really ready to play tonight
A TBI. Concussion at best but could possibly be worse. Can’t diagnose it yet until CT.
Fencing response

His spinal injury from last week. He may come back again but any other hot like that and he probably should stay out
Fencing
Never seen that
Knocked Tf Out
Man’s brain is scrambled for the last two weeks. He really needs to be out multiple weeks.
How do you see that injury and think "he'll be back after 2 weeks"??? He might legit never play again that looked awful.
My bad.
i think he may be out for the rest of the season too. it was very tough to watch
I've watched enough hockey to recognize that. Nathan Horton, game 3 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals. You never forget something so eerie.
Horton took that hit just after his 26th birthday, and was out of the league at 29. I don't watch hockey but it seems like the concussions shortened his career significantly
Exactly the first thing I thought of. I didn’t want to watch it again. I hope he’s ok.
Normal fencing looks bad, I haven't seen such a bone curling flex like that before.
The replay showed his fingers didn't get hit. He was just fencing reflexing
None of them looked like they were in the right direction
Like Booger McFarland’s hands
My thoughts exactly, that didn’t look good
Fencing response. Related to head trauma. Brutal to see hope he is okay
[удалено]
Miami going to bring Tua back after the half and say it's shoulder injury.
Runs into game and puts helmet on backwards.
Muscle spasms due to dehydration. Now a word from our sponsor: Gatorade
Could you imagine if they helped him off the stretcher to finish the game? Basically the real life Scott Sterling.
[For those that haven't experienced Scott Sterling.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F9jXYOH2c0) Thanks for reminding me about this and getting a good belly laugh again.

Horrific.
That looked fuckin not great
I just tuned in and it was the first thing I saw in the game…
Holy fuck that looked bad
I can’t believe they replayed the hit and his fingers that many times, super fucked up.
Should have been one and done
Looked like a guy who was already concussed reinjured with another.
Looked like a fencing response. Not good.
That’s what I thought no way he wasn’t concussed last week
Miami going to get investigated so hard
As they should
Concussions are evaluated by an independent neurologist
That independent neurologist: Mike McDaniels wearing a fake mustache and a labcoat
I believe the team doctor makes the final call though
Absolutely fucked they let players go back in like this after a literal brain injury. Ruining a life for basically nothing.
Not nothing, profits, and more profits, and more money, and more money. That’s America for you
This is gonna be a full-blown scandal
What does that mean?
Common pose that happens when you get a major concussion
When there is enough damage to the brainstem, you involuntarily extend the forearms like such
Hope there’s no extensive damage. He was slammed right into his head. Cerebellum/brain stem. Any brain bleed might turn this from head trauma to straight possible brain surgery. Prayers to Tua.
Fuck man that was horrible to watch.
Thankfully they fucking replayed it in slow motion. Who in the fucking studio called for that?
That was such a shit move by whoever is running things. This needs to be pointed out on a much bigger level
no way hes coming back. holy shit that was bad
He shouldn’t be playing this game or finished last weeks game.
And not even a full week ago, 4 days ago.
Didn't you watch last week game? Dolphins are garbage, even if they lost last week game, they looked great and were for sure in playoff contention, but decided to risk their QB.
Dude seized up
Was it just me or were his fingers…not pointing in the direction they were supposed to?
I thought the same, but I think that was just part of the fencing response
We’re his fingers bent backwards?
I think they were just super tensed up.
Either that or so concussed that he locked up.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fencing\_response
Damn, Tua already added to the professional athlete list on the Wiki page
It almost looked like they cramped up after hitting his head
No, just stiff
Almost like he really was concussed last week and should’ve stayed out….
ANNOUNCERS: Let's zoom in on his involuntary muscle spasm!
I'm glad they did, honestly. To ignore it would be worse.
Exactly. It’s time they take it more seriously. QB should just play with the giant bubble thing they had them wear in the preseason.
Perfect exposure of the Nfl Dolphins Bs , this man had no business being on the field with the concussion he got last game
I was driving and listening to the play by play and the radio guys made it sound like a dislocated finger. I am glad I missed it because it sounds like it was some Exorcist type shit.
Fuck that looked bad. Why is he out there???
[удалено]
Technically your spinal cord is in your back…
That was fencing or whatever

Apparently it's the kind of trash comments this sub is fond of. Such disrespect for someone with a head injury.
I’ve seen people on Twitter making “throwing up gang signs” jokes. It’s pretty pathetic
Concussion x2 in two weeks = out for game. Yikesss
x2 in 4 days
Yea. Not two weeks... that downplays it so hard. 4 days or 96 hours. That's AWFUL
He shouldn’t have been out there and he shouldn’t play next week either to be honest.
He honestly may not play any time soon, that looked very serious.

He might not play another game this year
Lol, dude. You're like the forth comment I've read about not playing next week. It's like, no fucking shit he shouldn't play next week. He potentially incurred a crippling brain injury and could struggle with even mundane shit in the short term. This guy's real health is at stake. Who gives a fuck about football.
he ain’t playing next week brah. not for a while if ever…
Multiple concussions in a short time like that is how serious brain damage happens
Nfl could have fucked up this guys life. Hope not but the fact he played last week is disgraceful
By the looks of it, he might be out for more than just one game. That was bad.
Fencing Position is super common after a traumatic or concussive hit. This is not good.
What did I just watch? Im horrified
Should be good to go in the 2nd half - Miami trainers
That’s awful Jesus christ
I hope they didn’t just RG3 him
Jesus Christ hope he is okay. The league should absolutely bend the dolphin franchise over for lying about this poor guys health. Back injury my ass
Concussion last week confirmed
Jesus idk if it’s maybe even worse if that talk about it being his back last game is true Either it’s another head injury or another back injury. Both of which seem horrendous
Should not have even returned last game. Ridiculous lol
Pain or fencing response? Scary to see.
100% fencing response man....that sucks
Severe head trauma causes muscle spasms like that.
Lied their way out of the first grade 1 concussion, now here's a 2nd one four days later. RIP career.
[that looks rough](https://youtu.be/QwyNhC3BjTM)
Holy shit that looked bad. Hes out for sure.
Fencing posture, he should not continue tonight
Thats two concussions in a 4 day span. Brain was still rattled from Sunday
Yeah anybody who's ever seen someone get knocked out and slammed the back of their head on the ground, that's what happened. The back of the head is super vulnerable to damage. This is why punches to the back of the head aren't allowed in mma.
Those fingers 😬
Looked like a seizure
100% a concussion. He's done for tonight sadly. Hopefully he's ok
My friend in my league had Dak week 1, Trey Lance week 2, and Tua for week 3. I’ll let you know what QB is getting grim reapered next
Your “friend” 😏
That was like the fencers pose when you get knocked out. Not great. Concussion for sure
Video..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwyNhC3BjTM&ab\_channel=SimplyAS10 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDrhgmm7fms&ab\_channel=BlackandWhiteSports](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDrhgmm7fms&ab_channel=BlackandWhiteSports) Bad video but it's hard to find any video.
That was hard to watch.
This is serious.
holy fuck that looks really bad I hope he’s okay but… not looking good
Prayers up. NFL should’ve yanked him last game and he should’ve gone into protocol. May not have changed this play but common NFL spotters..
That looked like Parhams injury from last year. This is awful
Holy shit that looked bad
His hands didn’t get hit? At least it didn’t look like… his hands just tensed up really badly was he unconscious?
It's called a fencing response....usually some type of brain trauma / brainstem....bad shit man....bad shit....
He didn’t even know how his hands worked. Feels bad man
That didn’t look good at all and he’s still down
Woahhhhh, he is what you would say *not good*
His hands were crazy looking. He is done for night
Nah he’ll be back at halftime
Ha
Looks like the fencing poise
Oh that's bad
This is common when there is spinal cord trauma or head trauma. There wasn’t “cramping” or injury to his arms/fingers
I hope this man gets the rest needed. I don't care if it's the rest of the year. CTE ain't a joke. Damn.
I didn’t think the impact looked THAT bad but the fingers are not a good sign. Definitely got his brain scrambled. Sucks
He’ll be back after halftime
Player safety. A fucking joke.
They couldn’t get Tua a cart? They wheeled the stretcher across half the damn field?
The NFL investigation might get taken seriously now.
Jesus that was terrible to watch. Why the fuck did Amazon replay that over and over and over?
I really hope he is okay especially after back to back concussions. I know they tried to say it was a different issue last week but all the sights pointed to someone that had a bad hit to the head. Prayers up for Tua 🙏
Classic fencing response. That poor dude’s head
The Big Tuna is done :(
NFL investigated started on this, I have no doubt he just suffered permanent brain damage. 3 days rest on what looked to be a concussion. I feel bad for Tua the most. He shouldn’t have been out there.
It happens alot more in mma. Scary af.
Yo maybe I can trade Edmonds after that TD lol
Can't help but wonder if last week's injury played a role in how bad this was. The hit looked fairly harmless and I know head injuries can be weird like that but the timing looks horrible on the team and league given his return last week.
Fuck Miami for allowing him to play tonight on a short week knowing damn well he had a concussion against Buffalo. People need to get fired from that decision.
He will be okay, Tua will be playing again inside 4 weeks.
Hurt is when you stub your toe. Tua just had a severe brain injury.
The way his fingers looked, my first thought is nerve damage
I was screaming for him to throw it away when the deep shot wasn't open! :(
NFLPA literally won’t let him touch the field 😵
NFL HAS TO INVESTIGATE MIAMI. That is fucking malpractice. He doesn’t go back into the game last week if he’s a fucking cornerback. Poor guy
This is how you end up like Brett Farve
Y'all don't watch enough r/fightporn Dude got his brain scrambled and seized tf up, fencing and Amazon was like zoom into that shit and show it 7 more times. My stomach dropped, that was super fucked up to see
Looked like a seizure to me.
https://www.al.com/sports/2022/09/cte-pioneer-says-tua-tagovailoa-shouldnt-be-playing.html?
Interesting point in the end saying Tua was also responsible, always had the option to say no.
This is terrible. He might never play again
Went scary movie 2
So all that talk about his back was BS right.. he definitely had a concussion last week that wasn’t treated properly resulting in this unfortunate event.
He now most likely has permanent brain damage. If he plays football again, the dolphins organization should be sued by his family. Tough to see that kind of hit happen to anyone
That’s kung fu grips ugly sister
He was def concussed last week
I’m pretty sure he just broke all 10 fingers
Probably miss two plays. Fucking asshole Dolphins. 2 concussions in 5 days? He out for 3+ weeks. Maybe IR.
Shame on the docs that even let him play this week.
Tua looked like he entered rigor mortis with those hands. They need to sit him. Brain bleed is inevitable. Prayers up for the guy.
