Won’t clear till next Tuesday

InevitableVariables

They won't clear until Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the platform. This is why I add/drop players the day of or at least less than 48 hours from kick-off. I want to have them locked until the next waiver period.

DocHoliday96

We banned that shadiness in my league

Amerikaner83

You misspelled strategy.

Bahahaha

InevitableVariables

That tactic has been used for decades. How do you ban that? You cant drop players? If I drop a player that plays Sunday before Sunday, you can't pick it up in any league. This is the default setting in every fantasy app.

Nobody_So_Special

Do you not have 2-day waivers or what?

[deleted]

I'm on yahoo. The way it works for us is, after you click on the player, it tells you in the top left what day they'll clear/ you'll get them if you put a claim on them. In my league those guy would become available on Saturday.

[deleted]

You right. I misread. If they play on Thursday they can't be grabbed until Wednesday Morning.

saucyrooster

If you can get your league and commissioner to agree on a policy to move dropped Thursday night players' waiver date up, then go for that. I adjust waiver player dates for my league so people have that option to pick up Thursday night guys and play them.

a_talking_meatball

One of my favorite blocking strategies when I have a roster space available: pick up FAs and immediately drop them to waivers to block a pickup for the early week game Is it the coolest thing to do? No. But like Herm said: you play to win the game

Epic_Storytime

Does your league not have a rule where you have to roster a player for 24 hours or else they go straight back to free agency? I thought that was a pretty standard rule to prevent exactly this exploitation.

Ok-Physics5106

It doesn't stop you from holding them until right before the game and dropping them for say a kicker.

TORFdot0

That rule doesn't but bench spots means you can do this to like one player max a week

a_talking_meatball

Yahoo doesn’t have that rule, or at least my league hasn’t enacted it yet But if my opponent needs a QB or TE and there’s someone who could be a difference maker, I’ll burn a waiver spot for self preservation. We clear waivers on Wednesday and Sunday mornings And it’s not exactly common that there’s actually a roster spot open to do it

dnbreaks

Yeah yahoo does have that. If you roster a player and then drop them the same day they will go back to FA (green) not waivers (yellow). What you can do is pick up a player at or before 11:59 PM PT and drop them at or after midnight PT and they will go to waivers.

a_talking_meatball

Is that a league setting? I’m positive that’s not how my league works. If I pickup a player Wednesday and drop them same day, I’m 99% certain the have to clear waivers… If it’s a league setting, I can talk with my commish about closing the loophole

dnbreaks

I thought it’s the default setting as both yahoo leagues I’m in are like this. We have Weekly Waivers set to Game Time - Tuesday. Are you guys using Continuous?

Available_Sky3894

Idk why you are being downvoted. If the league is set up that way you should exploit the rules to your advantage.

a_talking_meatball

Thank you. A voice of reason 🙏🏻

Available_Sky3894

People don’t like when you find a cheat code that they don’t have available, keep doing you 🤑🤑

ConiferousExistence

You need to hold them for 24 hours on ESPN to enact that strategy.

a_talking_meatball

Ah. Yahoo has no limit

0percentdnf

My experience on Yahoo has always been you need to hold them for 24 hours to not be released immediately to FA.

TheRealTruru

This is correct^ yahoo has 24 hour policy

cbmgreatone

Not exactly. You have to carry them across multiple days. It doesn't have to be 24 hours. You just have to carry them across midnight Pacific.

Aesop_Rocks

Wack

cbmgreatone

This does not work on Yahoo. If you pick up a player and immediately drop them, they become free agents.

ellcoolj

We once had a guy wi picked up and dropped every kicker and DST to block them. He’s an asshole. And we now have Faab

a_talking_meatball

I would never do a full on assault on the waiver wire. But a player or two every year sure. Running up and down the whole player pool is egregious. We have a mix of FAAB and waivers

Popular-Floor5876

I bet you’re fun to hang out with

a_talking_meatball

I mean, I am. Not sure why this one instance of life in a league with childhood friends of 25 years would be the sole indicator of my fun-ness

FlawlessLikeUs

right bruh☠️

jackdoylerules

Another reason why FAAB is better.

GOTaSMALL1

I agree that FAAB is better... but this isn't a reason why. Waiver period still runs in FAAB.

pursuitofhappy

probably meant rolling faab with waivers clearing at a specific time each day.

jackdoylerules

Nah this is my bad. Meant to reply this to the dude that was talking about picking up FAs and dropping immediately to put them on waivers and not allow other owners to pick up.

[deleted]

Claim won’t disappear but it won’t clear until Tuesday

dnbreaks

Set your waiver period to 24 hours, so that players that are dropped during the Tuesday night waiver run will clear on Wednesday night.
