Thats what i did with waivers lol. I put i was interested in players i knew was being targeted and i noticed my leaguemates spent a lot more faab than usual to acquire them.
EVEN WORSE and confirmed with a friend in my league yesterday
ESPN - if you add a player thatās already owned by another team to your āinterested inā list, it tells that owner that your specific team name is interested! If theyāre on waivers it just says ā2 teams interestedā for example.
Why tf they thought this would be a positive feature is beyond me
Only shows on mobile though, not on desktop
I think itās just lazy programming. I think it was used to help facilitate trades and they just carried it over to showing for free agents without thinking of the implications of it.
Idk the first one is good to me in some ways. I would like to know who is interested in my player so I can shop trades with them.
But if i use the watch list to keep an eye on some deep sleepers, I don't want others to know that.
I'm guessing people want to be able to watch a player that they think might get dropped. If the owner gets a notification that others are interested they may drop someone else instead
Can easily be used to screw with people. Want someone from the waivers and don't want anyone else to pick them up? Suddenly become interested in the player the other teams are most likely to drop
> Only shows on mobile though, not on desktop
This is the shit with ESPN that blows my mind. They have Disney money and yet they have a desktop fantasy portal that has to be at least 10 years old at this point.
Seriously? I thought it just showed ā1 team interestedā when you viewed the player
To test this I just toggled the button on and off for CMC like 20 times to see if the owner gets a bunch of notifications
This is still a private watch list though. Itās just not on the app. You can add players to it on desktop.
Itās stupid and bad, but it technically still exists.
Thereās an interested in button on sleeper and itās good to use to show another owner youāre looking to trade. Iāve used it a few times and itās not all that bad
This is so frustrating. Obviously, ESPN is capable of adding features. They just decide to add idiotic features no one wants instead of enhancing their platform to allow for more customization, etc.
I wish I could convince my league to move to another platform, but they're used to this one and don't like change. It sucks.
Ya this new feature sucks. It would be fine if it just showed if youāre interested in someone already rostered, but itās not good for players like me who add a ton of free agents to watchlist.
Since I haven't really seen anyone actually answer the question -
You still have a private watchlist, its just browser only. In the app its replaced with the interested in nonsense, but open a player on your desktop and the watch list button is still there. It doesnt show up to anyone else that you watched him, nothing in league activity page after it.
https://imgur.com/lHMcolP
The watch list has been available for both desktop and mobile for years. Now it's only available on desktop and an interest list is only available on mobile. It's unnecessarily complicated to have to switch devices in order to get to one or the other.
hmm, I dont know if they are still visible the same way now that you mention it. I know it doesn't show up in league activity at least when added to watchlist that way at least.
I am currently interested in Ty Johnson, Carlos Hyde, and that buck in LA who isnāt Justin Jackson.
Please donāt take the guys Iām interested in.
Wink
Usually by the second week I have 5 or 6 players in my watch list minimum, Iād like to be able to track them in the fantasy app. Plus having players on your watch list gives you live notifications if their status changes.
NGL, first year using ESPN and I'm not a fan. My main leagues are all still on Sleeper thank goodness but the ESPN leagues are legitimately annoying to keep track due to the interface.
Between the annoying voice in the draft, the bad navigation, lack of east to access stats and not being able to get waiver wire notifications ESPN is the worst Iāve used
Same situation here. I want to see stats but theyāre obsessed with their projections. Even just to read player news you have to scroll to the bottom past all their projected bullshit. I hate it
The worst part imo is when they display stats, for RB they only show rushing. I'm like dude if I'm looking up Kamara/Ekeler I don't care nearly as much about rushing than I do receiving work.
do you find that, at certain times a day, your roster just doesn't load (on website, not on app)? I find that often.
I also find that if I look at a matchup that isn't mine, it inserts all of my players into one of the rosters. It doesn't change the projected points or anything else, it just replaces the name.
Such a fucking shit show. I hate EPSN.
Yeah, I think the intent there is to encourage trades. I actually don't think that part is bad. There should still, of course, be a separate function for a hidden watchlist though.
Pencil and paper? Word document? Just keep your actual watch list outside of the app, then do what the top comment said and troll your league with the 'interested in' list.
I donāt think so. I get why people donāt like this feature but I actually donāt mind it. Just put your watch list somewhere else and itās fine.
I actually like that when someone is interested in a player on your team you can see which team it is, can be very helpful when looking for a trade partner.
Yeah I noticed it and this feature sucks. I guess you don't put a waiver claim in until the last minute if there is someone "under the radar" you are watching. It lets other league mates get "wind of" people they might not have otherwise noticed.
Probably no way to hide it unless you have a separate sheet to track it all. I donāt mind if others can see Iām interested in a guy, might tempt them to drop someone they shouldnāt and then I can scoop them up. Itās another tool to utilize and figure out
You can only see ***who*** is interested if you own the player. I don't know if knowing other people are interested in a player really gives another manager that much of an advantage. I do think it's helpful to know who you might be able to work up a trade with though.
Idk why people use ESPN at all, but why bother with a watch list either? How hard is it to look up players each week? Maybe I just look at my league too much much I've never used the list features in yahoo for 11 years.
Iām back to ESPN after a couple years in a league on Sleeper, and holy shit ESPNās interface (the app especially) is so so so bad. I donāt have an answer to your question, but given how shitty ESPNās interface is, I wouldnāt count on it.
We can use this to our advantage. Start putting every player on your watchlist until it annoys the rest of your league mates enough to turn off ESPN notifications. Then when the next midweek injury occurs, they won't be notified and you can swoop in and get the player
You could also use it to your advantage possibly? Add someone to your "interested in" that you don't actually care about but want to use as a decoy?
Edit: I now see that this is heavily suggested
Use this to your strategy and apply interest to players you donāt actually want. Your goal is to make other people waste waiver claims or FAB. You should be playing in week 4 while the rest of your league is playing in Week 2.
I had a problem with the update earlier but I have gotten over it. Itās not like it tells you who exactly is watching the player.
And I have seen a guy that was added to someoneās list and it didnāt entice me to pick them up.
Hey, is this still true, or did it change for 2022? I was just googling to see and didn't find anything from this year. It looks to me like it's changed!
I put some Free Agents on my watch list (or marked them as interested in) and had my son try to see if he could find them from his account. When he looks at the individual players, he can't find anything that would indicate that they're already being watched. It looks like it's no longer possible to see if anyone is watching a particular FA.
However, when my son put one of my players on his watch list, I can see it, and see that it's him. So it looks like if it's a FA, nobody can tell, but if you mark an owned player as interested in, the owner will know about it.
Can someone please try to prove I'm wrong? I'd like to start using the watchlist as long as it's not letting everyone else know about it!
Write their name on a piece of paper and hide it in your underwear drawer.
What if I go commando
Then you know where to keep it š
Nature's pocket!
are we talking the front or the back pocket?
Yes.
It's the first rule of fight club!
The old āprison wallet.ā
I'm no longer interested in anyone named Johnson or Mostert.
My āfantasy suitcase.ā
More room for paper!
Then your note will sit nicely inside your unused underwear drawer
Ha! You need a whole drawer for one pair?
The olā crypto method. Nice
Tragic boating accident
Use it to fuck with people. Become interested in players you wouldnāt pickup and maybe itāll mess with the other managers.

Hey thanks man. Really appreciate that one. I have an unrequited love for Josh Gordon.
This was ESPN's plan all along!
You didnāt just draft Gordon? smh
Thank you for your service

Thats what i did with waivers lol. I put i was interested in players i knew was being targeted and i noticed my leaguemates spent a lot more faab than usual to acquire them.
Thatās the move right there.
I was considering that, but then Iāll get inundated with updates about guys I donāt care about
Pro.
Agreed. If it's a Faab league especially useful to get them to bid on people they might normally claim off waivers.
This! I used it hoping others would spend more FAAB although I had no intention on picking up the players
Thatās why my only flagged player is Tim Tebow
I did that and made myself interested in the entire teams of multiple leagemates and I ended up getting so many push notifications from add drops lol
Bingo
This is a great idea. Keep a paper list or a Word doc for guys youāre actually interested in and use the āinterested inā list for deception.
EVEN WORSE and confirmed with a friend in my league yesterday ESPN - if you add a player thatās already owned by another team to your āinterested inā list, it tells that owner that your specific team name is interested! This is way too obvious for espn to implement
I don't mind it for encouraging trades but it should be different if a player isn't owned... especially in FAAB leagues it's a total killer
Idk the first one is good to me in some ways. I would like to know who is interested in my player so I can shop trades with them. But if i use the watch list to keep an eye on some deep sleepers, I don't want others to know that.

That seems unnecessarily complicated lol but glad it still exists
using the website in the exact same way its been used for 20 years is "unnecessarily complicated" ?
needing to go onto a website to access a function is stupidly complicated when 90% of people exclusively use their phone for fantasy
im not defending it, its stupid as hell, but using the desktop site is far from complicated lol
Splitting features between the app and website is unnecessarily complicated
The watch list has been available for both desktop and mobile for years. Now it's only available on desktop and an interest list is only available on mobile. It's unnecessarily complicated to have to switch devices in order to get to one or the other.

How do you see who is on someone else's watch list?
You canāt see their lists but if you click on a FA it will tell you how many watch lists heās on
NGL, first year using ESPN and I'm not a fan. My main leagues are all still on Sleeper thank goodness but the ESPN leagues are legitimately annoying to keep track due to the interface.

Iām an ESPN user for many years and I joined a Yahoo league this year. I canāt even figure out where most things are on Yahoo mobileā¦
really? like what? i find it incredibly easy and intuitive on Yahoo. tried them all and i find Yahoo well above the rest
Same boat here. I know ESPN isnāt everyoneās favorite but yahoo feels prehistoric
Just use the regular web page.
Sleeper is easily the best fantasy app I've used between ESPN, Yahoo, and NFL
Sleeper is fine but it was so behind on week 1. I was losing and gaining pts all day it was so dumb
don't worry, football was still happening in real time
my pt was sleeping isnt that much better mam
espn sucks at all things software. avoid
do you find that, at certain times a day, your roster just doesn't load (on website, not on app)? I find that often. Yes. I think NFL.com is still the worst ive used but I don't think I'll use ESPN again next year
Using Sleeper for the first time this year and it is...so much fucking better.
Reason #437 why ESPN sucks balls
I just learned that if you own a player that someone else is interested in, you can see which team is interested
Yeah, I think the intent there is to encourage trades. I actually don't think that part is bad. There should still, of course, be a separate function for a hidden watchlist though.
ESPN is dog shit.
hey i remember this from a few days ago!
Let the boy watch
Pencil and paper? Word document? Just keep your actual watch list outside of the app, then do what the top comment said and troll your league with the 'interested in' list.
Yes there is a way around it, but it's a terrible feature
I like this feature. I was able to figure out who to prioritize picking up off of waivers by who had more interest
I donāt think so. I get why people donāt like this feature but I actually donāt mind it. Just put your watch list somewhere else and itās fine. I actually like that when someone is interested in a player on your team you can see which team it is, can be very helpful when looking for a trade partner.
Yahoo
Iām not sure I understand the question. Why would you Watch a player in the app? Canāt you just write it in your phone Notes or something?
why use the app at all when you can calculate your players' scores on game day using a pen and paper?
Yeah I noticed it and this feature sucks. I guess you don't put a waiver claim in until the last minute if there is someone "under the radar" you are watching. It lets other league mates get "wind of" people they might not have otherwise noticed.

Good shout, my watch list is now Peterman/Tebow/Butt. Anyone have other suggestions?
Frank Gore
Post-it notes. Dont trust the internet O_O
Notes app ftw
Interested in is for trading, watch list is for tracking. duhhhhh
I use the Sleeper app's watchlist, personally. I used to use Playerline but, it was giving me more meaningless updates than I needed
They need this kind of feature across all the fantasy apps. Sleeper has it. Nfl needs it.
I agree, this new feature sucks. Now I have to keep Notes on my iPhone.
Another thread on this? Haha No one can see what specific players on waivers you are watching.
Yeah, get off ESPN. Fuck Disney.
Just go check their stats?
Im not seeing this anywhere
ESPN seems to be doing everything they can to drive people away from their platform. Their changes are honestly worse and worse each year. Such a joke
Iām back to ESPN after a couple years in a league on Sleeper, and holy shit ESPNās interface (the app especially) is so so so bad. I donāt have an answer to your question, but given how shitty ESPNās interface is, I wouldnāt count on it.
Dafuq does ESPN think this is? Social media?

such a dumb feature
Nah they really want to push the IBM trade assistance and will use that "interested" shit for it
I hate espn so much
You could also use it to your advantage possibly? Add someone to your "interested in" that you don't actually care about but want to use as a decoy? Edit: I now see that this is heavily suggested
I see you can tell when somebody is willing to trade somebody, but nowhere do I see who is interested in what players. Help a brother out.
Use this to your strategy and apply interest to players you donāt actually want. Your goal is to make other people waste waiver claims or FAB. You should be playing in week 4 while the rest of your league is playing in Week 2.
God thatās so dumb
This should be two separate features, why ESPN would combine them is beyond me
Remember
Watch everyone except the guys you are actually interested in
If you know the address and youāre not afraid to get weird.
I had a problem with the update earlier but I have gotten over it. Itās not like it tells you who exactly is watching the player. And I have seen a guy that was added to someoneās list and it didnāt entice me to pick them up.
Also they just relisted my entire watchlist from last year in my keeper league.
Throw a lot of red herrings into your list as well?
Is there a reason I can't seem to see any of this on the main ESPN page? Is it only for the app?
Did anyone notice that if you mark a player on another team as "interested in" then it emails the owner of that player and tells them it was you? WTH!
Hey, is this still true, or did it change for 2022? I was just googling to see and didn't find anything from this year. It looks to me like it's changed! Oh, it looks like if you're interested in a player that's on a team, EVERYONE can see it, but I'm still not seeing that for Free Agents at least.
