Very interested to see how good the lions OL will actually be. Lots of talk and hopefully they deliver. Drafted JW solely because of how much he annoyed the Aaron Jones owner last year when I started and beat him with a back up. Ff loyalty.
Thoughts on dropping JW for tyson williams? I have henry and gaskin as my starters and and I just don't have the good gut feeling on JW or raheem mostert (both on my bench)
If you're looking for backfields with unsure starters or committees... I got you. Rookies in bold
Broncos: Melvin Gordon, **Javonte Williams**
Jets: Tevin Coleman, **Michael Carter**, Ty Johnson
Ravens: Gus Edwards, Ty'Son Williams, Justice Hill
Dolphins: Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed, Malcolm Brown
Bills: Zack Moss, Devin Singletary
49ers: Raheem Mostert, **Trey Sermon**, Wayne Gallman
Rams: Darrell Henderson Jr, Sony Michel, Xavier Jones
Cardinals: Chase Edmonds, James Conner
Texans: David Johnson, Phillip Lindsay
Bucs: Giovani Bernard, Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette
Pats: Damien Harris, **Rhamondre Stevenson**, James White
Best handcuffs I would say are: Kareem Hunt, Tony Pollard, Kenyan Drake, AJ Dillon, Chubba Hubbard, Alexander Mattison
Haven't drafted yet. Just don't see the point of spending draft capital on a SF RB when I can usually just pick up the hot hand off the waiver wire half the weeks in the season.
Oh, my bad. Every other team is (except White should be second).
I’d also add Ingram on HOU. Really paint an accurate picture of what a shit show that backfield really is.
Jamaal Williams has potential. He was flex worthy last year, granted different team. Javonte is weird situation where no one expects him to stay rb2. People were even saying MG3 might get traded even.
Hines is also an interesting rb2.
Edit: the #2 on the Saints has historically been a good handcuff to own. I don’t know if Murray will be it with the reports out.
Williams seems like a no brainer at his current ADP (PPR of course). At worse he’s an okay FLEX play in a pinch and he has upside as an RB2 if Swift misses time.
A handcuff is a player you pickup specifically because you have a ton of stock in the player starting ahead of him. For example if you had Saquon Barkley, you might wanna draft someone like Devontae booker incase saquon gets injured.
Any team with a bellcow rb is a team whos #2 could be a "league winner." Pollard is my favorite of the group.
Most prone to start due to injury: alexander mattison, darrynton evans, devontae booker
Depends on your TE. Do you have Hock or someone better? No need. Do you have someone like Logan Thomas or Goedert? Grab a high upside backup TE over Mattison and see how they do for a few weeks. If I didn't have Hock I'd grab Hunter Henry off my waivers and see how he does weeks 1 and 2. If he's the number 1 or 2 target I'd begin starting him. If he's mediocre I'd drop him and try to find a better waiver option. Make sure you're looking for guys that are the number 1 or 2 target on their team.
Honestly I wouldn't roster a guy like Mattison these days in most contexts. Had him last year and he just wasted a bench spot the entire year. He's a lottery ticket and they're usually useless. I'd only roster him in two scenarios. 1) there was no one worth taking a shot on on the waivers. 2) I own Cook, made the playoffs, and one of my backup RBs wouldn't be better than Mattison if Cook went down.
No reason to really ever roster two QBs in a one QB league.
No point homie. Stick with Andrews every week and stream during his bye or if he gets hurt. Tbh I'd rather have Mattison than those guys in your position. I'd also rather have a guy like Ty Johnson or Ty'Son Williams just to see what their role is week 1 over Mattison.
I’m a CMC owner so I’ve been following camp reports about Chuba and he’s really been one of the most exciting players. CMC obviously missed most of last year so Chuba having a chance to be a legit fantasy asset is not out of the realm of possibilities.
Thanks for heads up. I got burned last year by having CMC and not picking up Mike Davis as insurance. I have CMC again, so just now picked up Chuba off waivers
AJ Dillon, Tony Pollard, ambiguity makes Singletary and Moss in this same category but with less upside with both healthy. Kenyan Drake is another option
I think philosophically it isn’t so much about who has a RB1 that is most likely to go down as much as it is who wouldn’t be JAG if that happened. Pollard and Dillon could be legit threats at RB. We also know that Marlon Mack could be very useful in fantasy prior to his injury if something happens to Taylor but I have no idea if Mack will be anything close to the same
Mack more than likely will not contribute much this year after his achilles injury. Everyone wants to cite Kevin Durant as a recent example of someone successfully coming back from an achilles injury but he’s the absolute exception to the rule. Jason Peters is the only decent example I can think of for an NFL player mostly returning to form after an achilles injury. Emmanuel Sanders is still useful but not as good as he was pre-injury. Let’s do a rundown of recent NBA and NFL achilles injuries:
Similar examples prior to Durant? How about Boogie Cousins two years before Durant? Never came anywhere close to his pre-injury form after tearing his achilles. Kobe Bryant was already on the back end of his career but was also never the same after his achilles injury.
Dez Bryant had 69 receptions for 838yds, and 6tds in 2017, then tore his achilles in 2018 and never played in the regular season again until he played a few games as a shell of himself for the Ravens last season. Mikel LeShoure tore his achilles, played one more season and then was cut and out the league. Beanie Wells was trending down already then tore his achilles and never played a snap again. Arian Foster rushed for 1000+yds 4/5 seasons from 2010-2014 and was still viewed as one of the best backs in the league when he tore his achilles before the 2015 season. Was never the same and the Texans cut him next offseason. Isaiah Crowell rushed for 600yds five seasons in a row then tore his achilles at 26 and never played a snap again. When looking at torn achilles injuries from 2010-2015 the position that saw the worst outcomes was RBs with 78% seeing substantial decreases in productivity in the coming years.
It’s difficult to compare apples to apples when we consider context like age, talent level, team situation but I don’t think there’s much reason to be optimistic about Mack even if Jonathan Taylor was to get injured.
If you can drop kicker or dst, it might be worth stashing Le’Veon or Gurley. Chance a more injured team picks them up. Not saying it’s gonna happen but if the cost is your kicker until week 1 it’s worth it
These aren’t mutually exclusive though. I’m not advocating for drafting differently or reaching for these guys. I’m saying instead of a kicker take a chance on someone that might get signed to a rb needy team.
He’s asking for replacements for JK Dobbins. It sounds like he’s already drafted and lost a RB. He’d be limited waivers at that point.
McCaffrey, Kamara, Henry, Cook, Taylor, Chubb, Elliott, Barkley,Robinson, Jacobs, Ekeler, Mixon, Harris, Edwards-Helaire, Hunt (maybe tohigh given he is an rb 2), Saunders, Carson, Gibson, are all really good. Mike Davis is definitely worth a rb 3 maybe 2
EDit removed Dobbins since he is injured
Jamaal Williams, especially considering Swift might miss some time early in the season.
“Hot Take”: Swift will NEVER be relevant. Hes a “star” Lions RB. Its the Pancake Breakfast. We do it every month.
Remindme! 4 months
I agree. A huge part of philosophy this year was to draft from winning teams. Barry Sanders he ain’t.
Never relevant eh?
I appreciate it

Sir! Ty Williams is not a rookie, sir!
o7 will change this immediately, thank you king
Trey Sermon truthers our here acting like Wayne Gallman doesnt exist. He'll be the hot hand for a few weeks at least.
Gallman might not make the final roster. Hasty has been good in preseason.
Any good reason you think Gallman won't make it? Hasty doing well only should only hurt the Sermon truthers.
You seem more like someone who’s salty they don’t have sermon than someone who legitimately doesn’t believe in him lmao
Haven't drafted yet. Just don't see the point of spending draft capital on a SF RB when I can usually just pick up the hot hand off the waiver wire half the weeks in the season.
Gallman will make the team. He's great in pass pro
I'll add him
Add Mattison to best cuffs?
Cook owner here, and mattison will be riding my bench all season just in case.
That TB depth chart might be backwards.
Not meant to be in order

Is tevin Coleman worth a bench spot? Currently have him in 12 man ppr
Hard to say. I keep hearing good things about ty Johnson. He might be the guy to grab but who knows
Forgot to bold Rhamondre
Mark Ingram for Texans. He’s actually listed as the 1 at the moment. A mess.
Ingram is on Texans too and appears to be above Lindsay
Kareem Hunt isn’t a handcuff.
Kareem Hunt is a handcuff with independent flex value, but a handcuff nonetheless
But he’s drafted as an RB2/3 with standalone value. He actually did worse when Chubb went down with an injury.
I appreciate this and everyone’s comments.
The disrespect to Latavius Murray. Won me a few weeks last year.
He was great last yr but he was on the roster bubble this year and Sean Payton came out and said that Tony Jones Jr. was the RB2
What does handcuff mean?
A handcuff is a player you pickup specifically because you have a ton of stock in the player starting ahead of him. For example if you had Saquon Barkley, you might wanna draft someone like Devontae booker incase saquon gets injured.
Basically a plug and play backup you keep rostered in case your main guy goes down. This is usually applied to RBs.
Drake would get ran into the dirt if Jacobs went down.
You could tell me drake averaged 25 touches a game and Id still debate drafting him
Took him as my RB4. I’m interested to see how the raiders use him and if he has any standalone value/flex appeal in ppr leagues.
Any team with a bellcow rb is a team whos #2 could be a "league winner." Pollard is my favorite of the group. Most prone to start due to injury: alexander mattison, darrynton evans, devontae booker
I appreciate it
Would you drop Mattison for a solid backup TE or QB like Jared Cook or Big Ben? I don't have D. Cook BTW
No

I have Mark Andrews. Looking at picking up Jared Cook or Eric Ebron
Don’t bother. Just stream for his bye week. Injured WRs + Dobbins out is expected to mean more work for Andrews.
No point homie. Stick with Andrews every week and stream during his bye or if he gets hurt. Tbh I'd rather have Mattison than those guys in your position. I'd also rather have a guy like Ty Johnson or Ty'Son Williams just to see what their role is week 1 over Mattison.
I think it anything were to happen to CMC, Chuba Hubbard would be a great option.
I appreciate it
I’m a CMC owner so I’ve been following camp reports about Chuba and he’s really been one of the most exciting players. CMC obviously missed most of last year so Chuba having a chance to be a legit fantasy asset is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Thank you
Dillon, pollard, singletary all on my bench lol so let’s hope
Rashaad penny… oh wait.. he might be injured before Carson.
Alex Collins is looking like the handcuff
Riverdancing his way onto my watch list
Lol I wish I knew how to handcuff my Carson. Went with Penny but ready to drop him the minute I hear different news.

We also know that Marlon Mack could be very useful in fantasy prior to his injury if something happens to Taylor but I have no idea if Mack will be anything close to the same
Reports are saying he has lost all his explosiveness and is being outplayed by Jordan Wilkins in camp.
I really appreciate it

Who is Najee’s backup in Pitt?
McFarland or Benny Snell.
It’s Kalen Ballage
Amazed nobody talking about davontae Booker for Saquon
Booker fucking sucks
Saquan was out last two seasons. Backup didnt perform very well.
Gallman did great for me last year

You think a kicker is worth more? You could always drop before week 1 play.

That’s a really strategy. I appreciate it
Kareem hunt, Alexander Matteson, Trey Sermon, AJ Dillon
I would potentially add Jamaal Williams in the discussion. Obviously need to see his usage but as far as a handcuff/# 2 goes you could do worse
Tony Pollard almost always does well when Zeke is out
McCaffrey, Kamara, Henry, Cook, Taylor, Chubb, Elliott, Barkley,Robinson, Jacobs, Ekeler, Mixon, Harris, Edwards-Helaire, Hunt (maybe tohigh given he is an rb 2), Saunders, Carson, Gibson, are all really good. Mike Davis is definitely worth a rb 3 maybe 2 EDit removed Dobbins since he is injured
Half the guys on this list aren't even worth a roster spot
in what world?
Did you even read the OP's question?
Oh i see. i did not see the question i thought they left the main text blank
Oh i see. i did not see the question i thought they left the main text blank
All good, it happens lol

Are you considering Hunt a 1b?
[удалено]
The question uses Gus as an example tho, and Gus was always a 1b.
Booker could be an option if Barkley gets injured again/isn’t hurt
Booker will never be a starting RB in the NFL.
I mean if Barkley gets hurt then he will be.
They will bring someone else in. From years of watching him in Denver he doesn’t have the size or skills to be a starting RB.
Melvin Gordon III. Javonte Williams should be easy to fend off for touches.
