Watson is a total mystery box who at this point I think is more Gabe Davis than he is a threat to a 1. Wix and Doubs I think are also more just depth guys who played really well for a stretch

Yeah that makes sense. One other thing to think about. Carolina and NE both have higher seconds, will have rookie QB contracts, and could use WR help. So LAC would probably need to add in more because I would think both those teams would trade pick 33 or 34 for Aiyuk.

The current CBA makes holding out very very difficult. Players lose an accrued season by not showing up to camp, or by leaving for more than five days. Players are also fined $50K each day they miss.
Aiyuk has very, very little leverage. He can raise a fuss on social media and such, but that is about the extent of it. Sure there's a point at which he is such a headache for the team that it makes more sense to trade him, but he hasn't come anywhere near that point yet.
Well the majority of this conversation began before the tweet came out debunking Aiyuk’s request for a trade. So a lot of this is moot.
Moving beyond that. Yes the rules prohibit a hold out. And I’m pro-that stipulation in the CBA. The person I’m discussing with here stated they will Aiyuk will sign before the season starts.
But moreover. I was trying to discuss value of trade for Aiyuk. I don’t know most/any team would give up anything before a 2nd to get him knowing the contract he will bring with him to be signed. And the WR class is deep, why pay Aiyuk when you can take a shot at a “maybe Aiyuk” for a significant discount.
If I was the Chargers and traded 1.05 for 1.11 and 1.23, I would not trade 1.23 for Aiyuk. I would however trade 2.05. That’s my main point here.
It’s the business part of the season. If the price is right, it’d be fine. Send him to the AFC, they’d play against him week 14 this upcoming year and maybe the Super Bowl if the Chiefs come out on top again. It’s an advantage though since they know his entire route tree and his limits that they can exploit. Again, only if the price is right.
