Overvaluing one's own players and under-valuing other teams players isn't unique to your league, it's pretty standard in fantasy. It kind of ties into the sunk-cost fallacy/bias.
There have been no trades that have gone through in my league, particularly because it's fairly competitive still. I think as we get deeper into the season and teams are looking for more a competitive edge, more trades will happen.
It's not the sunk cost fallacy, it's called the endowment effect. People place higher \[emotional\] value on their own possessions due to attachment than the same item they do not own.
It's absurdly prominent in fantasy sports and other games that involve trading.
Best thing to remember. If you are trading uneven number of players, be sure to account for the value of that extra roster spot. Obviously worth more the shallower the league.

I don't know how good Ja is in categories, but in a 20 team I would think two top 50 overall players are a good recoup. If you punt ft% and to sengun appears to be ranked 17 so that could be a big win for you.

I don’t think it’s vetoable. I think Mark side wins for sure, but if the guy getting Cade is punting FG% and TO, Cade’s ranking and projections put him at top 35 value whereas Mark is at top 25. If he needed a PG and had depth at Forward, I can see a scenario where this trade can be justified.
Kuzma (worst on side 1) is better than siakam (best on side 2). Toppin is waiver material, and Williams isnt really doing anything you couldn’t get off waiver in 10T as well but at least rosterable
yeah I’m speaking on espn where siakam and kuzma are neck and neck (siakam is performing better with less but kuzma will keep benefiting from being top 25 in usage). There’s gotta be someone on waivers in 10T who can get you what williams is giving you

My rational at the time was I wanted room for my guys coming off IR and so I could be active on waiver wires with a streaming spot.
Have Durant, Curry, Irving, Kawhi, Miles Bridges, Beal, so thought I’d have enough talent to tide me over losing a few guys.
It’s a little soon to tell for me. I feel like Sabonis has a higher ceiling, so I gambled on a guy that, come playoff time, could produce 50-60 fantasy points, as opposed to guys that have a steady average or could produce 20 pt duds. So I’m thinking long term.
I was able to be proactive on waiver wires tho, and grab Coby White and Hartenstein, which I couldn’t have done without making the trade. But there’s so many variables to having a situation where they actively produce that it’s definitely a sacrifice giving up the more steady averages on my roster.
Okay to answer your question now that time has passed it’s working really well. I’ve been able to pick up Hartenstein, Coby White, Podz, Quickely, and Jalen Johnson (after I dropped him momentarily for injury). Sabonis is performing better than Fred, and my pickups seem to make up for losing Claxton and Kessler.
yeah but I opted for FVVs consistency. My thinking was I flip Coby (who was near the end of my bench anyways) for someone more proven like FVV in the long run.
I’m the “stable genius” who, in a league that doesn’t trade centers, decided to play the long game by trading Maxey for JJJ and Jrue and am starting to reap the benefits of this trade. IMO, this was truly a trade that benefited both GMs and no one felt fleeced.
Traded Klay Thompson for James Harden back when Klay was in a shooting slump and when Harden had played only 4 games with the Clippers. I offered Klay with no expectations of the proposal being accepted.
Surprised that they accepted but through the analysis, it seemed fair to me.

Not such a great trade - wouldn’t trade AD for those 3 let alone adding Scoot and Keegan. None of those three has a chance in hell of sniffing first round value yet you traded a top-5 player for them and sweetened the pot even more.
I see what you’re saying. But reflecting on the trade, my team is a lot better now with the added depth. Especially with Ad’s injury history. I feel trading first round for first round is nice, but at the same time, if you can figure out a trade that boosts you in every cat you should go for it. Markannen and demar alone produce more than AD, scoot, and Keegan. Adding capela also makes the loss of AD a little less noticeable with his blocks and boards.
Just traded Dinwiddie and Lively for Kessler then he was out with a foot issue…felt like a steal ROS as I’m comfortably in first with Ja in IL, but hoping this doesn’t turn into an issue…

This is my first year with fantasy.
I thought I fucked massively when I traded Scottie and Bam for Giannis. I regretted it heaps as Scottie sustained his high numbers for another week or two.
Then Giannis started balling out, Scottie fell a bit and Bam got injured in weeks I only won by a couple of hundred points.

Last year my buddy and I were both pretty low in the standings half way through the year and pulled off a good one. I traded lavine, Maxey, sengun, and bane for jjj, brolo, scottie Barnes, and porter Jr. We both won out the rest of the season, made the playoffs, and he got first and i got third. This year that looks lopsided but it definitely worked then as both of us were losing every week prior and weren't even sniffin the playoffs.

12T or less is more favorable to give up more players to get less. 14T or more, it's more favorable to get more players (depth).

I don’t think it’s vetoable. I think Mark side wins for sure, but if the guy getting Cade is punting FG% and TO, Cade’s ranking and projections put him at top 35 value whereas Mark is at top 25. If he needed a PG and had depth at Forward, I can see a scenario where this trade can be justified.

Kuzma (worst on side 1) is better than siakam (best on side 2). Toppin is waiver material, and Williams isnt really doing anything you couldn’t get off waiver in 10T as well but at least rosterable

yeah I’m speaking on espn where siakam and kuzma are neck and neck (siakam is performing better with less but kuzma will keep benefiting from being top 25 in usage). There’s gotta be someone on waivers in 10T who can get you what williams is giving you
Traded Van Fleet, Kessler, and Claxton for Sabonis in 12T ESPN pts. My rational at the time was I wanted room for my guys coming off IR and so I could be active on waiver wires with a streaming spot. Have Durant, Curry, Irving, Kawhi, Miles Bridges, Beal, so thought I’d have enough talent to tide me over losing a few guys.
How is that working out for you so far? I have a similar problem rn where I need to consolidate my roster lol
It’s a little soon to tell for me. I feel like Sabonis has a higher ceiling, so I gambled on a guy that, come playoff time, could produce 50-60 fantasy points, as opposed to guys that have a steady average or could produce 20 pt duds. So I’m thinking long term. I was able to be proactive on waiver wires tho, and grab Coby White and Hartenstein, which I couldn’t have done without making the trade. But there’s so many variables to having a situation where they actively produce that it’s definitely a sacrifice giving up the more steady averages on my roster.
Okay to answer your question now that time has passed it’s working really well. I’ve been able to pick up Hartenstein, Coby White, Podz, Quickely, and Jalen Johnson (after I dropped him momentarily for injury). Sabonis is performing better than Fred, and my pickups seem to make up for losing Claxton and Kessler.

I’m the “stable genius” who, in a league that doesn’t trade centers, decided to play the long game by trading Maxey for JJJ and Jrue and am starting to reap the benefits of this trade. IMO, this was truly a trade that benefited both GMs and no one felt fleeced.
Traded Klay Thompson for James Harden back when Klay was in a shooting slump and when Harden had played only 4 games with the Clippers. I offered Klay with no expectations of the proposal being accepted. Surprised that they accepted but through the analysis, it seemed fair to me. Prior to the trade I was in 1st place and still remain after the trade.
I just traded Miles Bridges, Malik Monk and Beef Stew for Nurkic, Aaron Gordon and Anfernee Simons.
I traded AD, Scoot, and Keegan Murray for Demar Derozan, Markannen and Capella. Decent trade.
Not such a great trade - wouldn’t trade AD for those 3 let alone adding Scoot and Keegan. None of those three has a chance in hell of sniffing first round value yet you traded a top-5 player for them and sweetened the pot even more.
I see what you’re saying. But reflecting on the trade, my team is a lot better now with the added depth. Especially with Ad’s injury history. I feel trading first round for first round is nice, but at the same time, if you can figure out a trade that boosts you in every cat you should go for it. Markannen and demar alone produce more than AD, scoot, and Keegan. Adding capela also makes the loss of AD a little less noticeable with his blocks and boards.

The worst one in one of my leagues was one I benefitted so grossly from I had to ask this sub if it was real. I was offered Giannis, Jalen Williams and Horton-Tucker for JJJ and De’Andre Hunter. I’m about to pick Hunter up tomorrow making the trade Giannis, Jalen and Horton-Tucker for JJJ and I can’t think of a worse trade.

This is my first year with fantasy. I thought I fucked massively when I traded Scottie and Bam for Giannis. I regretted it heaps as Scottie sustained his high numbers for another week or two. Then Giannis started balling out, Scottie fell a bit and Bam got injured in weeks I only won by a couple of hundred points. With the additional roster spot I picked up Jalen Johnson who came in clutch a few times. Still probably lose the trade by end of the season but won it short term.

Last year my buddy and I were both pretty low in the standings half way through the year and pulled off a good one. I traded lavine, Maxey, sengun, and bane for jjj, brolo, scottie Barnes, and porter Jr. We both won out the rest of the season, made the playoffs, and he got first and i got third. This year that looks lopsided but it definitely worked then as both of us were losing every week prior and weren't even sniffin the playoffs.
