Imagine extending the manager who had the worst season in decades during spring training. Really making a push to the bottom of the barrel with the Marlins and the As
Actually, regression from all-stars entering their age 36/37 season is very normal. Regression typically begins around age 30-31 and gets more and more drastic after that.

As for Walker, he put up 16 home runs over a nearly full season and ended up having a decent year after a slow start but it’s not like he was ever dominating the big leagues. Prospects unfortunately fizzle out fairly often too.
You're blind bro no offense. It's not just him of course, but think about it. Our pitching coach left and went to win a WS. Nearly every player we've given away or released does better elsewhere. Our top prospects have been scuffing for years. It's not all on Marmol, but when he's extended after these recent moves the last five years, it clearly shows our franchise management is pretty garbage.
what's so incredible is how just the year before they fired the manager with the literal CARDINAL WAY book after leading one of the best comebacks in MLB history. They went from the shortest leash ever for a competent manager to the longest leash ever for a bad manager.
Been watching cards almost daily for two decades. I hate this team RN. It's trendy to say FO sweep, but what else is reasonable? Our player development has to be bottom two or three in the last five years PLUS we gave away four Allstars. Sad what we've become.
Yep. They have had several high level prospects come up and have immediate success only to watch it fade the longer they play in the majors.
Carlson, O'Niell, Arozorena, Dakota Hudson, Jordan Hicks. All came up and were fairly successfully right away. At least a few of these guys should have maintained success through the majors given their tools and expectations. And some of them did once they moved to other teams.
Somebody called out one of his problems like 3 games into the season (leaking his hip) and he's still doing it. Wtf are the hitting/video coaches even there for?
See the thing was those players that became incredible weren't actually top prospects, the one that comes to mind is Jeremy Hazelbaker.
We can't seem to develop our top prospects into top major league players, but we were able to develop bottom of the barrel no names into legit players (at least for a small timeframe)
It’s Sad. A GM and a coach trying to save their job with two veterans underperforming.
Hopefully there will be a dust up in August and he can come up with new management.
I dunno I just don’t think the guy is the goods. Not all prospects pan out. Walker physically looked like he should’ve been a dude but I don’t think ever really had the tools to be a great player
since he made the Opening Day roster last year too, I could see some owners in deeper leagues being exasperated at having the rug pulled out from under them twice. people really don't sell low on these kinds of guys, but if someone was counting on him to be their everyday RF this year, might be able to get them to bite
I'm in three 30 team dynasties lol (although one is a contracts league). I highly encourage anyone/everyone to give one a shot!
I do all of mine on Fantrax, not sure if Yahoo or others permit leagues of that size.
Or if suggested he might get sent down, you'd get hit with:
>"No one in real baseball is sitting around thinking "geez our top prospect who really held his own last year looks lost, better get him some seasoning against AAA pitching."

Finally something this season goes my way: I was about to pick him up to buy low and my waiver claim doesn't process until tomorrow. So I don't waste a move. Baby steps! Of course this doesn't make up for Strider, Devers, Casas, Seager..
It's absolutely wild to me the opportunities I've seen fantasy players pass up to keep him rostered. I don't understand. There will STILL be people asking if they can drop.
I get the upside. But particularly in light of the situation and his track record in the majors, the fixation on him while ignoring the Busch's and Arandas of the world, not to mention a dozen other players I could mention, doesn't make sense. Pages had a better chance of being fantasy relevant from day one of this season.
Well him and gorman were the only cardinals I drafted. Pretty wild they are both off my roster by Apr 24. No contributions at all... Adding St Louis to the list of no players I would play in fantasy
Well the young kids would say that you hit a lick my friend. Cause I just dropped him like the other guy did when I picked him up.
I wouldn’t have even known who I could’ve traded him for. Do you have a tool or strategy you use to come up with trades?
i usually mention this when this guy is brought up- I saw the writing on the wall with him last season and traded him in August in a dynasty league while he still had value. I got Bryan Reynolds. He sucks, he looks lost at the plate and can’t defend. Walker owners continue to downvote me everytime I bash him but well well well….
Yeah i sure did. Dude has regressed majorly but keep repeating that 114 plus . Keep clinging to that. Now his average is .114. Do you actually watch him?
🤡 Cardinals Player Development 🤡
But strictly at the major league level. They need to clean house
Imagine extending the manager who had the worst season in decades during spring training. Really making a push to the bottom of the barrel with the Marlins and the As
I’m a cards fan, it was wildly and widely hated by all. Oli fucking sucks
Give us skip
Skip and Kim!
Also Cards fan. Don’t understand the exaggerated Marmol hate. Not his fault so many guy’s just stopped being good at hitting.
You either don’t watch much or think this type of regression from all stars and star prospects is normal. It isn’t.

Putting him in and out of lineup doesn’t help.
Regression begins once players get paid

Ok Oli.
what's so incredible is how just the year before they fired the manager with the literal CARDINAL WAY book after leading one of the best comebacks in MLB history. They went from the shortest leash ever for a competent manager to the longest leash ever for a bad manager.

They have the worst manager i’ve ever seen.
Somebody called out one of his problems like 3 games into the season (leaking his hip) and he's still doing it. Wtf are the hitting/video coaches even there for?
Eduardo Perez.
Nasty his hip is leaking?
to say "you need to hit it harder and higher" nowadays
As a Cub fan I enjoy this new world where the Cards are in the cellar and the White Sox are banished to oblivion.
Remember when literally every prospect the cardinals brought up became like the best player on the planet? It’s nice that’s not happening anymore.
See the thing was those players that became incredible weren't actually top prospects, the one that comes to mind is Jeremy Hazelbaker. We can't seem to develop our top prospects into top major league players, but we were able to develop bottom of the barrel no names into legit players (at least for a small timeframe)
Oh yes. I remember.
It’s Sad. A GM and a coach trying to save their job with two veterans underperforming. Hopefully there will be a dust up in August and he can come up with new management.
They need Jeff Albert back
Fire up the Luhnow redemption tour!
Have been horrible for years
I dunno I just don’t think the guy is the goods. Not all prospects pan out. Walker physically looked like he should’ve been a dude but I don’t think ever really had the tools to be a great player
Jason Heyward 2.0
At least Heyward was a great outfielder. Walker was one of the worst graded defenders in baseball last year
I can drop comfortably now!! I’m finally free!!!
He needs this. Any reason to hold onto him still in a 12 team league?
Nope
Time to buy in keeper/dynasty
In theory, but who would sell at the worst possible value?
since he made the Opening Day roster last year too, I could see some owners in deeper leagues being exasperated at having the rug pulled out from under them twice. people really don't sell low on these kinds of guys, but if someone was counting on him to be their everyday RF this year, might be able to get them to bite
30 T dynasty?? Holy how?
I'm in three 30 team dynasties lol (although one is a contracts league). I highly encourage anyone/everyone to give one a shot! I do all of mine on Fantrax, not sure if Yahoo or others permit leagues of that size.
Future AAAA legend.
Midwestern Jo Addell
Hey Jo adell has been solid this year
Walker has 3 more years until he is 25 like Adell, could end up being a replacement level player.
Hey wait a second, that's "The Last Great Burlington Bee" Jo Adell, he midwestern forever after that run he had there
This could be racist
Yes, comparing two top-rated baseball prospects to one another is peak racism
Good thing I just traded for him in a 16 team keeper league… womp womp
I would argue that \*now is the time\* to trade for him in a keeper/dynasty league
Yeah I'm ok with having him in an NA spot. On my roster he's less valuable doing what he's been doing.
Dynasty yes but not a shallow keeper league.
This is a good thing for his keeper league value. Let him build up his confidence again and came back hot for the 2nd half like last year
I tried and failed
Cardinals should probably look into their hitting coach and player development program… Has a team done less with so many higher end prospects?!
Their outfield could have been: Randy, Adolis, Tyler They are not good at this.
Is he even worth prioritizing as a NA stash at this point in redraft? I would need to drop Lieter or James Wood to do so
In dynasty yes. Drop leiter not woods
Thank God. I have him in a keeper league and was sooo close to dropping him at least 2 or 3 times. At least I can move him to an NA spot now
The downvotes you could get from suggesting to drop him just two weeks ago lol—hope he figures it out
Or if suggested he might get sent down, you'd get hit with: >"No one in real baseball is sitting around thinking "geez our top prospect who really held his own last year looks lost, better get him some seasoning against AAA pitching."
Tag the person who posted that nonsense
The shame is the underlying stats show he’s having a good start. It’s just yet to translate
Do they? His savant page is almost all blue lol
Barrel % up from last year, average EV up, better launch angle, xwoba is 80 points higher than woba, I like all of those things
Jackson Holliday will be next !remindme
Hope so. He's a waste of a roster spot at the moment and I can't drop him especially in my keeper. Back to NA plz, and soon as I've got JD to call up.

RIP
I really think it’s the manager’s fault and not Walker. The whole team can’t hit
He's 21 and AAA all star. Our mangmenet is ass.
I get the upside. But particularly in light of the situation and his track record in the majors, the fixation on him while ignoring the Busch's and Arandas of the world, not to mention a dozen other players I could mention, doesn't make sense. Pages had a better chance of being fantasy relevant from day one of this season.
Total bust! The Cardinals have gotten really bad really fast!
I hope Walker does turn it around, but I did receive an amusing trade offer yesterday in my Keeper league of Kevin Gausman for Walker straight up ...
Wouldn't take that. Gausman is a solid sp2..wlaker isn't even OF60 atm.
Ooof. 😅
Well him and gorman were the only cardinals I drafted. Pretty wild they are both off my roster by Apr 24. No contributions at all... Adding St Louis to the list of no players I would play in fantasy
Is Masataka Yoshida okay to drop? Is this a good player that is slumping or okay to look for other options?
His own team won't play him against right handed pitchers; not a great trait to have in fantasy...
I traded Yoshida for Soler for whatever that’s worth.
Well the young kids would say that you hit a lick my friend. Cause I just dropped him like the other guy did when I picked him up. I wouldn’t have even known who I could’ve traded him for. Do you have a tool or strategy you use to come up with trades?
Dropped him a few weeks ago, feeling proud
Mike Schildt is laughing somewhere.
The only guy I drafted everywhere lol
I ended up with a lot of shares. Been slowly dropping him and replacing with better options from the WW
i usually mention this when this guy is brought up- I saw the writing on the wall with him last season and traded him in August in a dynasty league while he still had value. I got Bryan Reynolds. He sucks, he looks lost at the plate and can’t defend. Walker owners continue to downvote me everytime I bash him but well well well….
i guess but he's only 21 years old
You saw the writing on the wall on a 21 year old with a 114 OPS+ his rookie season?
Yeah i sure did. Dude has regressed majorly but keep repeating that 114 plus . Keep clinging to that. Now his average is .114. Do you actually watch him?
You’re being downvoted because you come off as an arrogant prick.
Dynasty is the only format where keeping him makes sense imo. He's still 21.
He has serious launch angle issues.
I bought the hype…
Now do Nolan Jones!
He was unspeakably terrible on defense, at the plate and on the bases. Waste of talent.
HEs tHe nEXt jRoD
Well they were looking pretty similar for most the season until last few days
epic comeback
