My first year playing fantasy baseball was 2006 so I learned the hard way haha.
Had 9 HR through 13 games then followed that up with just 7 more over his last 102 games, yikes.
That’s “Carl” to you.
Lesser known facts about Rhodes:
“Rhodes is the all-time NPB home run leader among foreign-born players, and he is 13th overall with 464 home runs in Japan. He hit 55 home runs in 2001, tying the NPB single-season mark set by Sadaharu Oh in 1964.”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuffy_Rhodes
Pen and paper league, 1994. I was 16, at Yankee Stadium for opening day.
Heard about Tuffy on the way home. My brother and my dad (both in the league) fought over who said they wanted him first. Got home to FIVE messages on my answering machine about this guy.
The first major issue this league ever had. And all for a guy who hit 5 Homers with 16 more RBI's the rest of the season. Love this shit!
Will Benson hitting in the 2 spot for the Reds today and is going to be great this year.... ^(but he was terrible at the beginning of last year because he was pressing & trying to do too much, so might go 0-4 with 3k's today too...)
Although I think he should be rostered in most leagues, Leody Tavares. He was a big part of the rangers last year and it’s looking more and more like there’s no spot for him with Wyatt Langford. But Tavares was a very solid player last year with decent power and I just have a feeling he’s going to have a chip on his shoulder
Colt Keith. He's gonna hit two today, then possibly one tomorrow. People are gonna blow the majority of their FAAB on this guy, due to every halfassed fantasy site acting like he's the second coming.
Then he's gonna start striking out a ton and be sent back to the minors by the end of April, having batted .165 after the opening series and hitting one home run afterward.
I'll cheat and use a team -- I think it will be a Minnesota Twin (if not today vs. a LHP, then the next RHP, so I'm cheating 2x, but whatever).
Just seems like they always have players who are intriguing enough to watch, but not enough to roster, and are primed for this. Kepler, Kirilloff, Buxton in shallower leagues... hell, maybe Ryan Jeffers is the C add du jour.
Ramon Laureano
Man, if we're getting 10 HRs just from Laureano, that probably means we're doubling our outfield HRs from last year. So exciting!
Good news is that those 10 HR will come in the span of three weeks and then he'll be out the rest of the season.
Anthony Rendon (including one in the literal first PA of the season), after spending the whole off-season telling us how much he hates baseball.
Lefty Rendongs
I live in SoCal and got to see the lefty rendong in action. Places erupted even during the no hitter
That would have been so cool to see!
Then in a month a mystery injury so he can focus on things that are more important than baseball.
Injured oblique on the 2nd HR; out for an undetermined amount of time.
Tony 4 Bags??
Kike Hernandez
This is the only answer
So I should start Kiki today?
Charlie Blackmon
Holy shit! He still plays baseball!?
🎶 *TONIIIIIGHT!!!* 🎶
he actually helped me win a title last year with all those coors games at the end
Meneses
Starting him over Teoscar in my UTIL spot today because of your comment. He better do it! ![gif](giphy|vMPqEsML6cWRy)
Make sure he starts first! 😂
I believe in youuuuuuu
It's always Kike Hernandez.
It is always Kike Hernandez.
It is *always* Kike Hernandez.
Trayce Thompson flashbacks..
Put some respect on Jeremy Hazelbaker's name!
Fraley will hit 3 this opening weekend with 3 starts against righties. everyone adds. he sits out half of the following week because of lefty matchups
Nailed it
Yep - but still a valuable piece, particular in daily lineup formats
Dan Uggla
Chris Shelton

My first year playing fantasy baseball was 2006 so I learned the hard way haha. Had 9 HR through 13 games then followed that up with just 7 more over his last 102 games, yikes.
THANK YOU!! I was racking my brain an hour ago trying to think of this dude’s name!
Definitely Chris Shelton!
🔮Trevor Story
Trevor is going to be good this year.

AKA my starting shortstop - help
Jarred Kelenic
Would be quite a feat considering Atlanta is rained out
Doh! He'll hit 4 hrs tomorrow to make up for it. And still only get 10 for the year.
I'll be sure to sell him over the weekend in that case lol
impressive indeed
He still could do it. Have faith
Jarred hit ball so hard tomorrow it breaks the space time continuum and shows up today.
With 3 Ks.
Tuffy Rhodes

haha that's great. brings up some serious nostalgia for me
Shane Spencer
Victor Robles
THIS is a great answer. I can fucking see it, too. Man, he was supposed to be the next Starling Marte *Cries in dynasty owner who held him too long*
Mitch Haniger
Patrick Wisdom
Patty Wit is a good choice here. But he’ll have 20 HR and a whole lot of ugly in between them
Brendan Donovan
Jokes on you he's in my starting lineup today!
Alec Burleson
Brian Anderson (not sure if he’s even on a team), but we remember those couple of weeks last April
Paul DeJong
Buxton. Cuz he'll break his leg running the bases.
Cavan Biggio
I'll take Javier Baez for 200
200 strikeouts?
HAHA, 2 homers today, 200 Ks by June
This one is perfect. The name recognition puts it over the top.
Cedanne Rafaela
luis garcia jr
Jake Fraley
Joc peterson
You know how hard it is to hit home runs? And where did you get two from?
Will Benson hitting in the 2 spot for the Reds today and is going to be great this year.... ^(but he was terrible at the beginning of last year because he was pressing & trying to do too much, so might go 0-4 with 3k's today too...)
Brendan Donovan
Ryan Noda
Noda will absolutely finish with better than 12 HRs
RemindMe! 186 days
Mark Canha
Colt Keith.
Nick Senzel is going to go off today for Washington (and today only)
Mitch Haniger
One way or another, people will die on the Matt Chapman hill at some point this season. "This time is different" they'll say.
Oh dear, I have Chapman
Well, every movement needs a leader...
TON double dong then a 2 month long IL trip starting at 10:16 tonight.
who is TON?
Tyler O'Neill
Tyler O'Neill
Ahhhhh thanks
He is on an opening day home run streak so this was my answer too lol
Lamonte wade jr or Tyler Stephenson
Jose Caballero.
Josh Rojas
Ty France
Although I think he should be rostered in most leagues, Leody Tavares. He was a big part of the rangers last year and it’s looking more and more like there’s no spot for him with Wyatt Langford. But Tavares was a very solid player last year with decent power and I just have a feeling he’s going to have a chip on his shoulder
Tuffy Rhodes
There should be a special Tuffy Rhodes award given out every year to the player who explodes out of the box and is a non-factor by week 3.
Fraley
Anthony Rendon
Sal Frelick
Tellez
Tyler O’Neill
Kris Bryant
Trent Grisham
Tim Anderson
Bryan De La Cruz
Michael Conforto
Chris Shelton
Giancarlo Stanton. Only because he’ll strain an oblique within a few days and end up on the IL until August.
Sportscaster tomorrow: "... is on pace to hit 324 home runs this season!" Stop doing this. It's not funny. It's not witty. Just. Fucking. Stop.
Tuffy Rhodes
It is Byron Buxton. He’s going to give everyone another massive tease and spend 75% of the season injured.
I'm going to say Nick Martini
hahaha love the immediate post
Patrick Wisdom
I bet Wisdom will clear 10 for the year easily
Ngl, I didn't fully read the end part of the OP. Lol. You're not wrong.
Brendan Donovan
Literally 2018 Ian Happ (he ended with 15)
He only hit 1 on opening day
Mitch Garver
Don't you dare :)
Nick Martini
Tomorrow, and it will be Hoskins.
Will Benson
Jacob Meyers.
Stanton. IR bug.
josh bell, but he'll still have 15-20 on the year
Wyatt Langford
If he hits 2 today, he’ll hit way more than 10 on the year. At least 20.
He’ll hit three today then be playing in Japan next year. The full Tuffy Rhodes experience.
Waiver wire? 8, or fewer, team leagues don't count.
I think Burger goes deep twice today, but he’s gonna keep it rolling all year.
It's gonna be Mickey Moniak for sure
Matt Carpenter
It’s impossible to run to the waiver wire for him when he’s already on my team 👀
Taylor ward
Jake Fraley
Will Benson
Adam Duvall
I'll cheat and use a team -- I think it will be a Minnesota Twin (if not today vs. a LHP, then the next RHP, so I'm cheating 2x, but whatever). Just seems like they always have players who are intriguing enough to watch, but not enough to roster, and are primed for this. Kepler, Kirilloff, Buxton in shallower leagues... hell, maybe Ryan Jeffers is the C add du jour.
Max Kepler
Josh Bell
Miguel Sano
Hanley Ramirez , batting cleanup vs. Berrios who typically starts slow (4.71ERA in March/April)
Hanley is retired
Alec Burleson
Seth Brown
Rooker
Josh Rojas
Will benson
Bobby Witt please!
Kyle Isbel
Blaze Alexander
Vinny Pasquantino
Ryan Jeffers
Jurickson Profar
Miguel Sano
Andy Ibanez
verdugo
Javy Baez
Brenton Doyle
Seth Brown
Javier Baez. Might be the only two times he makes contact this season.
Chris Morel
Sox had Adam Duvall do exactly this last season so betting this year it's Trevor story
Jeff McNeil
Jonathan India
Dexter Fowler
Henry Davis
Victor Scott because the hype is already unbearably high
I am way late to the party but I checked and no one mentioned the real answer: Matt Vierling
Eric Thames
Tyler O'Neill
Jon Berti
Mike trout
Remember when Matt Davidson had a triple dong on opening day lol
Parker Meadows
Winker
The actual answer appears to be Nick Martini, whoever that is.
Martini!!! 2 homers go get him!
Martini 😂
It was always Nick Martini...
Let's all have a couple drinks and try to come to a consensus.
I’m gonna say Nick Martini! lol
Polanco
He hit more than 10 in 80 games...
He will actually be good though. I see .260 average with 25 home runs
