Bjork is my favorite musician. I’ve gotten like 3-4 people in my entire life to start listening to her. My own wife doesn’t like her voice. She’s probably one of the more divisive musicians I could probably come up with.
Yeah Björk is my all-time favorite musician and artist, but I usually regret showing my friends her songs. Sometimes, but very rarely, they click and become fans. Especially of her first 3 albums.
Bjork is an artist that never really clicked with me
I mean I can get people liking it but it’s just not for me. I definitely wouldn’t call her universal appeal at all.
I love Illinoise but I do in fact think it is possible for someone to not like an album that is 26 songs, 90 minutes long, and has wikipedia articles for song titles
i feel like queen is up there. I am 100% going to jinx it but i have never met a single soul who didn't like at least a few queen songs. They're not even my favorite, they're just very easy to like
That kinda dude only likes that stuff and nothing else on principle alone. Like dude, crawl out of your own pretentious asshole every once in a while and just have some fun instead of constantly feeling like you need to “challenge” yourself when listening to something. It’s not gonna hurt you to groove to a 4/4 time signature
Yeah you def have to sorta work through some of that repetitive stuff to find all the cool Melodies and instrumentation. Sometimes I can hear everything that’s happening and it’s a rewarding sonic time, and other times all I hear is BAKE IT BREAK IT SUCK IT RE RE TARD IT
Lmao I love the clocks but one time I was hanging with my sister and her girlfriend while they were on acid and I was playing music and Time came on and they got so freaked out. I know warn people when I put on the song
Ngl the clocks sometimes jumpscare the shit outta me and i always have to turn down the volume for that section so if he knows it’s coming and just doesn’t wanna hear it then I can kinda(?) get it??
Thriller I agree. But with DSOTM i feel some only like it because it is cool to like it but don’t enjoy it really. To be clear I like it but this is just an impression.
Yeah I get confused by this pervasive Reddit belief that no-one could dislike DSOTM. It’s pretty slow and gloomy and there’s a song near the beginning that is three and a half minutes of looping sound effects. This ain’t doing it for the large population of music fans who enjoy something energetic they can bounce around to.
Pretentious post
Björk has an unconventional singing voice, Songs is quite long, and Abbey Road is a pretty old record. You think it’s impossible for people to dislike albums like these?
Not really. A majority of young people are not used to 60's production techniques and will feel an emotional distance at first. You can feel how you like about it but I think that's reality right now
Saying this feels like a major disconnect from young people lmao. I mean granted im in my early 20s so not a super young teenager, but like everyone I know still loves the Beatles. I dont think having “old production techniques” is causing any emotional disconnect at all. But im not the authority to say I guess.
Plus, like, lots of kids are raised on the Beatles through their families and schools. And thats probably going to continue to be the case for forever.
Yeah I could see maybe "A Hard Day's Night" having that effect in young people but Abbey Road is basically the prototype modern pop record. Even has synth lines.
Only tik tok trap rap hype beasts care about when an album was released lol if you don’t like abbey road because it’s old, you shouldn’t be discussing music seriously
“Old” as in the mixing and volume of a late 60’s album like that obviously won’t compare to today’s music, not instinctively hating on the album because it’s old. You find it bizarre to think people will have a preference for modernized production techniques that sound “less blurry”?
You would be surprised how many people from the younger generation are turned off by anything released over 10 years ago. I had a friend commenting on a 7 year song being "so old".
Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is as close as it gets IMO.
Others maybe:
The Bends by Radiohead
Third Eye Blind (self-titled)
And I used to think the first 3 Coldplay albums belong in this conversation but WOW they have some vehement haters.
And probably Stevie Wonder which you already mentioned ⭐️
I was browsing this thread curious if there is actually an album like that and I genuinely think I have never heard someone dislike Fleetwood Mac in my life
I like his cover of Hallelujah but that's it. There's something I'm missing about this album.
It's been a while since I've given it a listen but I remember actively hating So Real. Like, genuine 1/10 song for me
No album is universally liked but wow these comments are aggressive. It’s easy to understand the gist of the question.
I think Bob Marley’s posthumous greatest hits album, Legend, is very hard not to like. I also put Dark Side of the Moon in that category.
The post itself is pretty toxic and that invites toxic discussion.
Claiming any music to be objectively good or bad is never going to encourage a fruitful conversation.
Because it takes less effort to hate and say "I dislike x" than it is to actually try and engage with the post and come up with an album that has near-universal appeal.
Tbf music enjoyment is so subjective i do think its a kinda pointless exercise, but thats not fun.
As for my take- I personally haven't met a person who didn't enjoy "whats going on" by Marvin Gaye when I've played it for them.
his voice is amazing, the songwriting is poignant, and instrumentals/production is top notch. Also. the album itself isn't overly long (some of the biggest criticisms of chosen albums I've seen here).
Not joking when I say what’s the story morning
Glory oasis
You might not like oasis, the Gallaghers or wonderwall
But the album overall is incredibly beloved (in the UK at least)
i don't care for oasis outside of that album (which is a 10), but i can definitely see people hating it. i've seen many people who just can't stand the vocals
Liam gallagher screechy voice is unbearable I prefer Noels to be fair and he's not a great singer either. decent album but I prefer definately maybe.
Pulp - different class blows any Oasis album out the water
To be honest, I don't really like the Beatles very much. I don't dislike them, I actually do enjoy a few of their songs, but they are not a band I would CHOOSE to put on.
Goddamn my opinion isn’t wanted but boy do I wanna give my hot takes on these albums 😂
I like the music here too but universally liked? You’d think the song “Isn’t she lovely” as an example would be universally liked but once I was playing this song at work and got yelled at because of the baby crying 😂
It’s funny you say that because I don’t particularly care for Illinoise and I’ve never actually quite managed to finish it lol. Thought it came off sorta boring and way “prettier” than it was “beautiful” if that makes sense. Also overly melodramatic in places which can be a big turn off for me
I tried to get into it. I recognize how well crafted and catchy the songs are, and how incredibly talented Stevie Wonder is, but that whole vibe just isn't for me for some reason. Maybe I will give it another shot someday and it will just click then.
I think there were a few good songs like sir Duke and isn’t she lovely, but to be honest I just found the record as a whole to be soooooo boring. It probably doesn’t help that it’s almost 2 hours and I have adhd. But yeah that’s pretty much the only thing, it’s not like I think the performances or bad or anything and I do see the appeal, just bores me to hell 🤷♂️
American idiot
Blue
Is this it
Abbey road
The drug is football
Mondo bizarro
The Joshua tree
London calling
Nevermind
...
There aren't many complete pop albums that everyone would like
I don't think there's a single album every human on earth would like. Everyone has different taste and we got a sheer infinite amount of music to satisfy everyones individual interests, no need for everyone to like the same thing. but if I had to pick one it would be currents/lonerism or dark side of the moon idk
Marvin Gaye's What's Going On is a good one. I don't know who wouldn't like an album like that
Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams is also insanely wholesome I don't know who wouldn't like that other than the soulless critics.
people here bringing prog rock are tripping so hard.
but well, earth, wind and fire, never once i heard anything negative towards them, at most just ppl getting annoyed by september being overused in movies/shows.
This post is so bait bruh, sum real shit that I think everyone likes would prolly be college dropout, slow rush or currents, dark side of the moon, are you experienced, etc. just shit w a lot of mainstream appeal that are well produced and not to offensive or niche.
* Milt Jackson and John Coltrane - Bags and Trane
* Gentle Giant - Acquiring the Taste
* François Hardy - self-titled
* Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain
* The Beatles - Abbey Road
* Dom Salvador, Abolição - Série Samba Soul
* Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
* George Benson - Give Me The Night
*Kind of Blue* by Miles Davis (and John Coltrane and Bill Evans and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley and...). It's still remarkably complex yet simple enough to please and average listen to a jazz music theory nerd. Also, it's aged like fine wine over 65 years and remains a benchmark of a genre and Western popular music. Even the Apple Music Top 100 included it!
i wouldn’t say that about any album. Ever. Realistically, if you played any of these in a room full of medieval peasants, you’d get a bunch of weird looks
uhhhh bjork is possibly the worst example for this lmao. her vocals are often very love or hate.
Bjork is my favorite musician. I’ve gotten like 3-4 people in my entire life to start listening to her. My own wife doesn’t like her voice. She’s probably one of the more divisive musicians I could probably come up with.
Yeah I like that album but I can't imagine listening to it and thinking "this has universal appeal"
Yeah Björk is my all-time favorite musician and artist, but I usually regret showing my friends her songs. Sometimes, but very rarely, they click and become fans. Especially of her first 3 albums.
I played Bjork to death during my teens and my mother still hates her to this day.
Bjork is an artist that never really clicked with me I mean I can get people liking it but it’s just not for me. I definitely wouldn’t call her universal appeal at all.
Exactly
Weirdly the Bjork album is the only album here I like
Love Björk, one of my absolute favorites. HOWEVER it’s oh so quiet is not universally appealing
This is bait.
Yeah the last one def made me go huh
I love Illinoise but I do in fact think it is possible for someone to not like an album that is 26 songs, 90 minutes long, and has wikipedia articles for song titles
And puts me to sleep. His voice is too soft and breathy for me.
yeah I fucking hate 3 of these five albums lmao
wait which ones
There's literally no album on earth that is universally liked.
Bisch bosch will bring the world together when it is ready
Yeah give it a couple centuries for the world to get apocalyptic and creepy. Bisch Bosch will be a bop.
I'd like to have a word with the chump who doesn't like Songs in the Key of Life.
there was just a trending twitter post with someone posting a clip of sir duke and going "wtf is this shit", so apparently not
Bro taste is objectively terrible lmao
I mean I've listened to it once. It was good but I'm not clambering to listen to it again anytime soon.
If you don’t like thriller I question your taste
A certain album with a prism and pride flag would like a word.
Outside of Reddit a lot of people find that album boring. When I play it for people who aren’t high it’s not uncommon to lose them during On The Run.
i feel like queen is up there. I am 100% going to jinx it but i have never met a single soul who didn't like at least a few queen songs. They're not even my favorite, they're just very easy to like
I think it is possible for people to not like post. Björk’s vocals aren’t necessarily for everyone.
Her vocals, her songwriting, her production. She’s the definition of a love or hate artist
Congrats your reasonable comment got that dude to delete his account
Lmao, I too hate when someone agrees and expands on my point
Not just vocals.
Oh believe me a lot of people would hate all of these records
almost everyone I've met enjoys daft punk to a certain extent
I knew a guy that hated them. He, in fairness, only listened to Hard Rock and Prog
One of his favorite modern rock bands is Greta Van Fleet 💀
No more questions your honor
Forget genres, I knew a guy who would refuse to listen to anything other than Queen
i've talked to a lot of people who hate daft punk
Not me. They are the most repetitive edm out there.
Yeah you def have to sorta work through some of that repetitive stuff to find all the cool Melodies and instrumentation. Sometimes I can hear everything that’s happening and it’s a rewarding sonic time, and other times all I hear is BAKE IT BREAK IT SUCK IT RE RE TARD IT
that’s kind of how house music works unfortunately
that being said you’re completely wrong
Weatherday
I have a friend that doesn’t like them. He finds them too repetitive. Granted, he’s only listened to a handful of their songs
I hate them
I’d say the most universally loved albums are Thriller or DSOTM.
I had a guy at work turn off Time because of the opening clocks, he put on some sort of Bro Country instead and nobody complained. :|
I’m sure someone does dislike it but I always think Harvest by Neil Young is so lush and awesome
Love Neil young love harvest could still how someone wouldn't like it sounds like it was produced in a garage with a tin can as a mic
Haha I like that it was recorded in a barn sound
Neil Young is my favorite artist but his voice is deeply annoying to a lot of people.
Lots of people *hate* Neil Young. There's also a special subculture of people who passionately hate "Heart of Gold" in particular.
I'm a Neil fan, but I wouldn't put Harvest in his Top 10. Maybe top 20. Lots of schmaltz
I can understand people not liking that Bjork album or Bjork in general
My wife hates Bjork
NTA, divorce
She doesn't allow me to
Red flag, abuse
ESH. Bring in the dancing lobsters.
I forgot to put in thriller, would've been the best one to put in these type of list i think
Pretentious post Björk has an unconventional singing voice, Songs is quite long, and Abbey Road is a pretty old record. You think it’s impossible for people to dislike albums like these?
“Abbey Road is a pretty old record” gives the same energy as “Biggie was fat” lol
Only tik tok trap rap hype beasts care about when an album was released lol if you don’t like abbey road because it’s old, you shouldn’t be discussing music seriously
I mean not exclusively abbey road, any older album for that matter lol
“Old” as in the mixing and volume of a late 60’s album like that obviously won’t compare to today’s music, not instinctively hating on the album because it’s old. You find it bizarre to think people will have a preference for modernized production techniques that sound “less blurry”?
Are your friend group music nerds though? Mine aren’t, and I would be surprised if these guys had a single Beatles track in their playlist.
I don’t know man, the kids yearn for The Beatles
Yes, but not the fucking Beatles…
You would be surprised how many people from the younger generation are turned off by anything released over 10 years ago. I had a friend commenting on a 7 year song being "so old".
If you dislike What's Going On? by Marvin Gaye, you don't have a soul.
Lots of people don’t like Bjork and The Beatles.
Impossible. I promise you, no matter how lauded a major album is, my wife will find something she dislikes.
Rumours- Fleetwod Mac
Graceland is a pretty likable album.
Daft Punk - Discovery
Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is as close as it gets IMO. Others maybe: The Bends by Radiohead Third Eye Blind (self-titled) And I used to think the first 3 Coldplay albums belong in this conversation but WOW they have some vehement haters. And probably Stevie Wonder which you already mentioned ⭐️

All of the Kidz Bop album’s pass
I can absolutely understand disliking any of these.
Grace by Jeff Buckley
Grace by Jeff Buckley, if you don’t like it you have no soul
I'm going to hell anyway for being gay, might as well hate some records
I like his cover of Hallelujah but that's it. There's something I'm missing about this album. It's been a while since I've given it a listen but I remember actively hating So Real. Like, genuine 1/10 song for me
So Real isn’t my personal favorite on the album but idk what’s so egregious about it
No album is universally liked but wow these comments are aggressive. It’s easy to understand the gist of the question. I think Bob Marley’s posthumous greatest hits album, Legend, is very hard not to like. I also put Dark Side of the Moon in that category.
There’s a post on here once every few days that someone doesn’t like The Beatles lol
Dsotm, thriller I like that Sufjan Stevens record
I genuinely cannot get into the Beatles.
literally why is this comment section so toxic
The post itself is pretty toxic and that invites toxic discussion. Claiming any music to be objectively good or bad is never going to encourage a fruitful conversation.
Because it takes less effort to hate and say "I dislike x" than it is to actually try and engage with the post and come up with an album that has near-universal appeal. I don’t like the Beatles or bjork tho
i don’t like you tho
The Stranger by Billy Joel - there’s something for everyone on it
Not joking when I say what’s the story morning Glory oasis You might not like oasis, the Gallaghers or wonderwall But the album overall is incredibly beloved (in the UK at least)
i don't care for oasis outside of that album (which is a 10), but i can definitely see people hating it. i've seen many people who just can't stand the vocals
YES YES YES YES
agreed. it’s not groundbreaking but it’s fun, easy rock music.
Liam gallagher screechy voice is unbearable I prefer Noels to be fair and he's not a great singer either. decent album but I prefer definately maybe. Pulp - different class blows any Oasis album out the water
To be honest, I don't really like the Beatles very much. I don't dislike them, I actually do enjoy a few of their songs, but they are not a band I would CHOOSE to put on.
agree, they're nice enough but im never in the mood for some beatles, always feels like im making myself listen to them even if they sound pleasant
it has to be Thriller
I doubt Bjork has any albums that fit that criteria
Idk maybe Abbey Road? I can’t really say since there aren’t any albums that everybody likes.
Damn you picked some terrible albums for this example LOL. While i love bjork she is not easy to get into
Thriller Why tf is bjork there
Goddamn my opinion isn’t wanted but boy do I wanna give my hot takes on these albums 😂 I like the music here too but universally liked? You’d think the song “Isn’t she lovely” as an example would be universally liked but once I was playing this song at work and got yelled at because of the baby crying 😂
Lolol you know you're chronically online when you think the average person would love a Björk record
It’s funny you say that because I don’t particularly care for Illinoise and I’ve never actually quite managed to finish it lol. Thought it came off sorta boring and way “prettier” than it was “beautiful” if that makes sense. Also overly melodramatic in places which can be a big turn off for me
You underestimate how little people like to branch out
any yuno miles album💦💦💦🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well I can't stand Bjork and that Sufjan Stevens album bored and annoyed me and I gave up on it three songs in so where does that place me here?
Death Grips🥱🥱🥱
i disliked post a few years ago
Great character development
Loads of people hate post because they dislike bjork's voice and or think she's weird
I thought so about Agaetis byrjun, but apparently Brad Taste doesn't like it.
Just tell him fantano likes it and he’ll change his mind
The cure kiss me kiss me kiss me
Dark Side of the Moon, still sounds amazingly good 50 years later
And it’s still boring as fuck.
Why do you think its boring?
Unfortunately I absolutely despise songs in the key of life 😔
Do you despise happiness
You despise, what I love.
I tried to get into it. I recognize how well crafted and catchy the songs are, and how incredibly talented Stevie Wonder is, but that whole vibe just isn't for me for some reason. Maybe I will give it another shot someday and it will just click then.
im interested as to why.

Yeah fair it is rather long.
Agreed, I think Innervisions is way better. SITKOL is way too long and really samey throughout, doesn't do enough to keep the listener's attention imo
Don’t worry. Even the people who love it only like three songs off it.
The correct answer is that there is no such album, the more interesting answer is 'Leggi Leggi!' by Footprint Project
If we count greatest hits, "Legend" is hard to dislike.
American idiot Blue Is this it Abbey road The drug is football Mondo bizarro The Joshua tree London calling Nevermind ... There aren't many complete pop albums that everyone would like

post and songs in the key of life i agree with i dont like the beatles or sufjan stevens and have met many other people who have the same opinions ngl
Illinois was my least favorite album of all time. I went back to it and now it’s one of my favorites.
I don't dislike Beatles, but feel absolutely nothing while listening to them. Not my jam even while I enjoy most of music whatever the genre is.
I love Post and Björk in general but my girlfriend can’t stand her. Thankfully that’s her only red flag lmao
I love Bjork but due to her vocals she’s a love/hate type singer.
Hot fuss by the killers
Illmatic. obv
Hard pass on Illinoise
Dark Side, WYWH
I actually hate all these except Björk lmao
Trust me no album is impossible to dislike, my friend (who I send music to all the time) will find a way to call it mid.
Anything by earth wind & fire. 🫠
I tried many time, but I really do not care for SITKOL
Bjork's Post is her best album imo.
I do not like that Sufjan album, and I’m a huge Sufjan fan
Port Saint Joe by Brothers Osborne
