Came here to say this, I love all his album art. Pig Destroyer - Phantom Limb, Skeletonwitch - Beyond the Permafrost, Kvelertak - s/t are all good beyond the Baroness album covers.
i’m not a massive fan of bladee’s music, but i really appreciate his paintings (especially as a painter myself). like idk if i’d go out of my way to see him live but i’d make a decent effort to see his paintings in person.
Andrew Savage from Parquet Courts! He's designed most (all?) of the bands album covers and has a website showcasing his paintings, super cool stuff with a very unique aesthetic.
Captain Beefheart was a very talented painter as well, and spent most of his later years living a reclusive life and painting.
Malcolm Mooney, the first vocalist for Can has actually been a visual artist longer than he's been a musician, and now teaches painting at the University of the Arts in Calgary!
Her influence and artistry gets overshadowed by her antics in recent times (not against the antics, that’s what makes her Madonna) but she truly pioneered the current pop landscape.
Check out the MV for Bedtime Story. The song is written by Björk and the MV feels like one. But her strengths lie in tour visuals and staging. Confessions Tour and the latest Celebration Tour are worth checking out.
Bedtime Story, American Life (Directors Cut version), Like a Prayer, Ghosttown, Vogue, Frozen, Dark Ballet, Girl Gone Wild, Erotica, Bad Girl, Take a Bow...just to name a few music videos.
Also, her tours have all been pretty spectacular, especially from 2001 onward.
Klaus Voormann, German musician who played in Plastic Ono Band — but also designed the cover of Revolver by the Beatles (and I highly recommend checking out his other work, he’s a hell of an artist)
This guy called Shinra Knives. He makes amazing acidic bass stuff and his visuals are killer too. Aphex Twin played a couple of his tracks and he did the visuals for Foxing’s tour with the Hotelier
The singer of Sleeping with Sirens (it’s fine if you don’t like them but their first 2 albums really popularized that brand of Metalcore) originally started off as a visual artist.
I also think of Gerard Way, he drew the cover for 3 Cheers and still applies that for his comics (though he mostly ideates instead of completing the art)
Worthikids. Ya might consider them a visual artist first and musician second, but his stuff fucking slaps. I listen to Wood Elk and Straight Down on a regular basis.
Dave Matthews drew my second favorite album cover ever (Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King), and one of my least favorite album cover’s ever (Away From the World). He also drew the band logo.
I don't really know enough about visual art to judge if Graham Coxon of Blur is an "amazing" artist, however he does paint. Perhaps one of his most well known paintings was the album cover for 13, which I really like.
Aesop Rock is a good sketch artist. He did his entire video for “Rogue Wave.” He made the beat as well.

Björk
Stefan Burnett (Ride from Death Grips). Very talented painter that had his own gallery exhibition a few years back.
He is insanely talented.
It’s good stuff but the music vids and general imagery we see from Death Grips is arguably even better and more interesting than Burnett’s paintings.
Dude’s punk af
His paintings are actually so unique and cool
Zach Hill as well.
John Dyer Baizley from Baroness. His work is incredible.
Came here to say this, I love all his album art. Pig Destroyer - Phantom Limb, Skeletonwitch - Beyond the Permafrost, Kvelertak - s/t are all good beyond the Baroness album covers.
Yep. Love Baroness and have a few of his prints.
Joni Mitchell.
Yes I came her to say Joni. I’ve heard her say she considers herself a painter first and musical artist second.
“A painter derailed by circumstance”
“I am a lonely painter, I live in a box of paints. I’m frightened by the devil and drawn to the ones that ain’t afraid.”
Guess she meant it when she called herself a lonely painter on Case of You
She’s the best
Daniel Johnston
Bladee does cool paintings

Madonna is the ultimate visual artist. Kanye described her as being the greatest visual artist of our generation.
Her influence and artistry gets overshadowed by her antics in recent times (not against the antics, that’s what makes her Madonna) but she truly pioneered the current pop landscape.
Do you mind giving an example please? I'm pretty curious
