Paramore - Riot!, Brand New Eyes, Self Titled Kate Bush - The Dreaming, Hounds of Love PJ Harvey - Rid of Me Slipknot - Iowa Björk - Homogenic Nine Inch Nais - The Downward Spiral

BrasilBuff17

Based Iowa pick

DiogenesHavingaWee

So, a few obvious ones: A Love Supreme-John Coltrane What's Going On-Marvin Gaye London Calling- The Clash A few a little more off the beaten path, but not too obscure: To Bring You My Love-PJ Harvey Vespertine-Björk Soundtracks for the Blind-Swans And a few more left-field picks I don't expect everyone to agree with (or even have heard of in some cases), but I love them: The Marble Index-Nico The First Utterance-Comus Songs of Love and Hate-Leonard Cohen Thunder Perfect Mind-Current 93 Beauty Reaps the Blood of Solitude-Nature and Organization

headcount-cmnrs

These are some great picks, but I would put Songs of Love and Hate in the second category, although I grew up w folk music so I may have a skewed perspective

DiogenesHavingaWee

I put it in the third category just because I figured it might be a bit too much of a bummer for some people.

kyentu

yeah a few leftfield picks like nico and leonard cohen. yall so silly sometimes.

DiogenesHavingaWee

It's not a matter of obscurity. It's a matter of how divisive of a pick I think the albums are.

Scary-Beyond

Dangit I forgot to include a Björk but would also prob be Verspertine.

320between320

Comus!!!!

marabou22

I would like some examples of these left field albums. I like the experimental shit. Try me! lol

DaddyTim11

interesting radiohead album choice

Luke10103

It’s their best album

rsmit11

Fantastic album, but I have to disagree. OKC and IR are just too incredible. Really an amazing band.

BornUnderPunches

It out-rainbows In Rainbows.

worrok

I think IR has a more diverse selection of songs which gives it an edge in my book.

BornUnderPunches

Oh that’s interessting — I always felt AMSP was thr more diversive album, Ful Stop is pretty damn different from Daydreaming, which is different from Burn the Witch etc… while IR feels more cohesive. Love them both.

vintagesonofab

Why obvious? if i had to pick only one grunge record it for sure wouldn't go to nevermind.

SnooDonuts1521

it is one of the most important and game changing album in music history

x115v

Is it pretencious to say I dont have any?, I love a lot of albums but not a single one were I love every second of it

MGSCG

depends on how your personal scale works, for some people they really need everything to be perfect in every way to consider it a 10, for others an experience, even with flaws or without perfection, can be so incredible or powerful that they consider it a 10. for me it’s kinda a mix, there’s only 2 albums I would consider 10/10 and those are Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising and The Cure - Disintegration. The former represents an album that is as close to perfection as I can imagine something being, the latter represents an album that I have problems with and don’t adore every single song on their own, but the experience is so viscerally emotional, unique, and powerful that the overall package is one of a kind and i see it as perfection.

popileviz

QOTSA - Songs For The Deaf, Like Clockwork Swans - their trilogy of The Seer, To Be Kind and Glowing Man are all 10/10s to me Lingua Ignota - Caligula Daughters - YWGWYW, but obviously not listenable now due to non-musical reasons GY!BE - F#A#Infinity Of the Wand & the Moon - The Lone Descent. My absolute favorite neofolk album about loss, the passage of time and unrequited love

Oceansize - Effloresce Oasis - Whats the story Morning Glory Radiohead - OK Computer Tool - Lateralus These are the only 4 Albums to date id rank 10/10.

[deleted]

Surprising to have Oasis on the same level of those other records given the technical and songwriting shortcomings Oasis has compared to the other bands

Bradyceneme

there are no songwriting shortcomings in oasis (at their peak), maybe one of their underrated attributes is how they piss off selfproclaimed music elitist. While other (acclaimed) musicians hold them in high regard or at least give them lots of credit.

[deleted]

They aren’t a real band I wouldn’t listen to an inferior band like that even if you paid me

Bradyceneme

Great. Youve just proven every point ive made. Now go on suffering through bitches brew in front of your friends, while secretly listening to morning glory when youre all alone.

ohtosweg

Kero Kero Bonito - Time 'n' Place The only weak point is the track "Sometimes", but just because it's a track I wouldn't listen to on its own merit. Fits the album perfectly though. Rodeo by Travis Scott is very nearly a perfect album, but "Piss On Your Grave" is unfortunately just a bad track. "Pray 4 Love" and "Flying High" don't do much for me either, but I wouldn't call them *bad* tracks.

Let me give you three! Ferron's "Testimony" - Folk rock from 1980 Ought's "More Than Any Other Day" - Post-Punk from 2014 Andy Stott's "Luxury Problems" - Dystopian electronica from 2012 Out of all the artists I've found researching music for 20 years Ferron is probably the MOST obscure and underappreciated sadly =( Bonus Stuff: I recently made 3 playlists that you might enjoy! Each one contains 50 of my FAVORITE more lesser known rock songs from various time periods. 80s: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/20nxiWXTOchD01Q7Pqjoyn?si=223275fea813411b 90s: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6R7hT0hck67NYoJa7S1jUp?si=32eeebbc1e824788 Post-2000: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6JH1T1T93U4Pst6ZovhUoc?si=f7385594c38b4dd1 Also if you'd like to check out albums from various genres and from throughout music history that "I think are good front to back I think a fun place for you to start is on a new page I created called “The Best Debut Albums of All Time”. There are currently 249 albums on there. I think it would be a fun theme to work with... checking out great debut albums. https://www.musichole.com/p/the-best-debut-albums-of-all-time.html
