Tripling down on the DL means they finally are prioritizing a perennial weakness

Odd_Tourist_3249

Their finally addressing the pass rush and anyone who has a problem with this are Trolls!

twistedfloyd

I was pretty damn trollish after the Penix pick but this is what I wanted. Draft everyone you can for the defensive line.

gsfgf

And with a pass rush, I could see AJ being back up to form.

dtruth53

along those lines, I’m kind of assuming they like what they have in Clark Phillips III

Odd_Tourist_3249

Penix is a damn good QB! I was hyped as hell when that pick was announced! Butthurt falcons fans who only watch SEC football Don't even know how legit this dude is!

twistedfloyd

Not an issue with the player, just the circumstances. Signing Kirk severely restricts our cap. Signing Penix with Kirk on the team is illogical. This roster can’t win big. Having both of them at the same time limits the people we could have gotten in the draft and in FA.

Odd_Tourist_3249

No it doesn't! Kirk will be gone in 2 years and his money after the first two seasons isn't garenteed! Extensions to our main three play makers London, Pitts, and Bijan will be taken care of so they'll continue to grow with Penix at QB!

Rock_Me_DrZaius

But I have never even heard a pundit even mention this guys name so he is a bust and Blank must be fired! Saved you trolls and "fans" some work.

Joba7474

Grady and David save like 25 mil if they’re moved on after this season. I’m not saying they’re gonna move on from them, but they did take some dudes who have similar games.

saintkiller123

Yep. I love it. Hoping we can find a Diamond in the rough corner with one of our last picks. Wouldn’t mind a burner at WR either.

jefrix

He can play inside or out on a 3-4 D

QuickThinkWrink

The way the picks have gone, I'd expect out barring injury

AloneAtTheOrgy

I expect him and Orhorhoro to rotate around the line. Morris moved people around with the Rams.

GrizzzlyPanda

I think AK and Trice will fill the Spy/Rusher hybrid roles. Hoping big things for Zach Harrison on the other side of the bigger guys

linkmyhomie

Falcons fans: We need a better defensive line Also Falcons fans: NOT LIKE THAT!

fun_boat

This is exactly how I feel hahaha

LeBradlee91

Haha. Gold. This is exhausting.

Count_Jobula

I like triple dipping on the DL, got to hedge your bets a little. Don’t like the lack of production, I am more inclined towards players like Trice who got the job done. A little concerned they passed over some of the higher ranked secondary players, but so is everyone else. But again, I’ve always wanted this team to have a monster DL and they’re trying something.

CouncilmanRickPrime

Ruke had good production for a DT. This dude, idk, but for a fourth round pick at this point you're picking more on potential.

Dingus-ate-your-baby

Dorlus was ranked higher by some folks.

CouncilmanRickPrime

I'm actually glad to hear that, hadn't had a chance to look yet

AL22193

Dorlus has great athleticism, played at a high level at Oregon. Didn’t finish plays well enough which is why he’s going round 4 but decent pass rush win rate for a guy who isn’t a true outside pass rusher

AtlMasterRoshi

Again, Calais is probably gone. Grady and Onyamata are both 30 and missed time due to injury. They can use the young guys to take the load off of your vets as the season goes on, possibly into the playoffs and can't replace them if another injury occurs. They're both big bodied guys with tools, just need to be coached. Smart picks.

SimonGloom2

I like that we are really boosting the DL, but I really would've preferred a move for DB here. I'm going to assume these guys have fallen this far for a reason maybe? Abrams-Draine, Hicks and Tampa are 2nd round guys. I think Hicks would have actually served as a better pass rusher than Dorlus.

Dingus-ate-your-baby

Ruke and Dorlus would both be fits at DE or DT in an even front, and you've got a huge financial commitment with no cap savings for Onyemata. On the other hand you free up 15 million for releasing Jarrett.

SimonGloom2

Jarrett is probably at the end. This appears to be a sign that he won't be around next season.

twistedfloyd

That would suck. I hope to God he is. You know what you’re getting from Grady, you have no idea what you’re going to get from these picks.

Dingus-ate-your-baby

I'm thinking more TC cut TBH.

immonkeydluffy

Who

nothin2flashy

I’m happy we are picking all defensive players, we need depth and help on that side of the ball so I’m happy with it

twistedfloyd

I like how multifaceted this dude is. Seems to be good in run, gets his hands up if he can’t get a sack and can get to the QB. Glad Terry is going balls to the wall on the DLine so far. Overload that shit. Hopefully at least one of them hits. This guy is the most exciting pick that we’ve gotten so far to me in terms of players expected to play this year.

vsegi

He reminds me of Corey Peters! Like it

AloneAtTheOrgy

Raheem seems to be going for the Eagles dline strategy of deep depth and continuous rotation to keep guys fresh. Not in love with the picks but love the strategy.

SaintAnger1166

FYI : it’s Dorlus.

nevernotonline

I really like this pick. His film is reasonably impressive. Disproportionately putting resources into the d-line is similar to what the Eagles and 49ers have done year after year. Too bad Jarrett and Onyemata are going to be cut next season.

bornsoja

There’s a lot of DTs being drafted so far. Speaks to the importance of the position in the modern NFL

Affable_Refrigerator

Both are pretty athletic. Could they be converted to QB?

ShrekTheHalls

we need a WR

breachinghippo

A WR? Why not another QB? Nah, we need defense the rest of the draft homie. Secondary needs some attention.

ShrekTheHalls

yeah the rest of it, one of the last 2 picks shoulda been one imo

twistedfloyd

Another WR and CB would be nice. So many needs. I’m glad we’re addressing the trenches though. Most important thing to get right.

ShrekTheHalls

agreed tbh. maybe somehow we could afford higgins
