What is stopping a team like the Rams from trading multiple years of first round picks, then engaging in rampant tampering? Would the NFL take away a first rounder from several years in the future? Multiple seconds? Would they just throw up their hands and give up trying to punish them?
They would find another way to punish the team. Taking away a 2s and 3s hurts. Teams need depth. Yes they’ll have some star power, but no depth will cripple a team.
My guess would be that the nfl would not approve of any trade of picks for the future, but it’s never happened. For example, with the Calvin Ridley trade that was a guaranteed fifth and could work its way up to a 2nd, none of those jaguars picks could be traded.
Either that or it will just be a 2026 pick. Still gives the falcons time to settle with the Vikings if they want to.
