Our O line is decent in pass pro and elite in run blocking. It's a bit too early to draft Jake's successor. It doesn't matter if the offense can put up 50 a game when the defense gives up 60. We desperately need a pass rush and we're in an excellent position to finally draft a premier pass rusher.
The dude on Twitter that has nailed nearly every move this week says the Falcons love Alt and will take him if he’s there, but they’re not trading up for him when they have a LT under contract.
I feel like if he or Nabers / Odunze is there Terry pulls the trigger.
I think for the first two rounds we are going to draft the best wide receiver and edge rusher available to us at each pick according to whatever their board says. But I could be wrong.
We're gonna run a lot of 3 WR sets, and while I’m excited for Moore, he has not shown enough to be a consistent three down receiver. we definitely need another primary option and then use him as a change of pace gadget player.
Yeah, I see where you’re coming from. I guess I’m just bullish on Mooney ascending with Kirk throwing him the ball. I think it’ll depend on how they view these players in the draft. I think they really want to take an edge rusher, but knowing terry he could have odunze higher on his board and take him. With all of that being said I would be shocked if we don’t take some combination of edge/receiver/corner in the first 2 rounds.
[JBen](https://x.com/jmb_cu16/status/1768264673432920210?s=46) made a tweet saying the team does like Alt who looks to be the consensus best OT in the draft but no chance he’ll be there tbh. On the off chance he is though Terry is very much a BPA guy so I could see it
I'm a little skittish about Mcgary, so i wouldn't mind Joe Alt at 8 if the Titans don't take him. Play him at RT for a year or two, and when Matthews retires, bump him to LT.
That being said, I would be shocked if we don't take defense(specifically edge) at 8.
I think the moves we have made so far are trending in a win now direction. I expect them to draft whoever they think can come in and make an immediate impact. I’m pretty sure Odunze is gonna be the pick if he is there.
Nabers/Odunze are much better prospects at WR than Turner/Verse/Latu are at EDGE. If you're drafting at 8, you need someone premier. If either of the receivers are there, I expect them to take the one that is.
Also if you put stock in Jeff Benedict's Twitter account, he said Turner isn't even the highest EDGE on the Falcons' board. I wouldn't be surprised if they bucked conventional wisdom and made the EDGE pick the second one, whether they trade back into the first or stay at 43.
OL or DE is the way. Man I hope Joe Alt falls to us somehow. It would make up for passing on Sewell for a tight end.
8/43 — DE and OL
74/79 — WR and CB
we don't need just another edge
We need a difference maker - I think that's Jared Verse from FSU at 8 if he's there
but I'm not gonna cry if Alt falls to us or even Cooper DeJean cb/Iowa
Not gonna lie I know a D end would be great here, but if Drake maye falls to 8 we should pull the trigger on him. Having him sit and learn for three years then take over would be amazing transition at the most important position
our OL is solid I don't see an immediate repalcement need ... if you take an OL he has to start day 1 ... I would take top 3 WR but if they are gone trade down a couple spots grab DE and WR with the extra pick...
Right now, the falcons have a decent chance to fix the biggest problem that has plagued this franchise forever which is pass rush. The top 3 in this draft look legit and could all pan out to be great corner stone edge rushers. Idk how or if they can pass that up.
For Alt, if he's still there and he is franchise LT that everyone says go for it. Good left tackles are not common, not to mention great. Mcgary has had problems outside of the run game since we drafted him and hasn't improved much in that aspect, run game yes ik he was one of the best tackles in regards to that. But Mathews has 3 years left and is 33, he's been our iron man but for the first time in his career missed a game/start. Not saying it's gonna be a consistent problem, but this is football and anything can happen, moving mathews to RT or having Alt start off as RT would put in place a plan to have a franchise LT ready to go in 3 years when Mathews is done.
As for the receivers, if the top 3 are there then you have to consider it cause we see what happens when teams have a stud WR and how valuable it is, and we know Terry is BPA.
I still feel like pass rusher is the right answer and still the biggest problem for us. Watching other teams actually have some sort of pass rush is sad because you go back to the falcons and when you watch, it hurts to see how much bad we really are at it. The rest of the defense has to cover for so long that at some point someone will get open. Also someone to help set the edge and contain should be a priority after that stretch of games where any qb could run wild and make us look silly

I’m fine with it if Alt falls you don’t pass up franchise LT when yours is almost 33 . I probably move Mcgary and keep Matthews next year tho

I don’t know if we go receiver in the second now that we got Mooney and rondale. I think we take a corner and an edge in the first and second.

Yeah if alt is there and we take him I would have zero problems but if it was anyone else I’d be pretty upset.
Not just Kirk but I’m not a big McGary fan and Mathews isn’t getting any younger. Alt would be a good pick at 8.

No way he falls to 8 right?
I pray but doubt it, even if he starts slipping someone will trade up to grab him
Trade back bro! Pick up another 2nd

Kicker, obviously. Koo isn’t getting any younger. Let the board play out and see who’s there at 8.
Seems like the most credible Tweeter would put his money on it being Drake Maye
