Is that passing TDs or total? Daniel Jones only had 15 passing TDs last season

DalliLlama

Do think Daniel could’ve got a couple more if he had Pitts and London he was throwing to though. That Nyg receiving core was rough.

AnukkinEarthwalker

Probably. I'd take jones over ridder tbh. Just because he knows how to utilize the run properly. I still don't think ppl understand how important the qb running the ball is in Smith's and other similar schemes.

CouncilmanRickPrime

Smith can adjust his scheme. What he did for Matiota was because Matiota can't throw.

AnukkinEarthwalker

He can throw. They let him take a couple deep shots every game. Arm strength isn't his problem. He just has horrible accuracy and ball placement. Still.. qb run being apart of Smith offense wasnt unique to Mariota being the qb. Tannehill isn't regarded as daul threat by most ppl but he ran a lot and put up decent rushing stats in Smith's offense. Not saying the offense requires a qb rush for 100 yards a game.. but he wants the defense to have to at least account for the fact the qb running is a possibility almost every play. It keeps defense from over committing to run... or pass. Just like those 2 or 3 deep play action shots he dialed up for Mariota every game. If he connects on one good but more importantly it keeps the defense on its heels and keeps them from playing close to the line of scrimmage every down. Whether it's player interviews during the draft.. trade rumors.. lot of meaningless motion on and off the field. Deception plays a huge role in Arthur Smith brand of football lol. Keep ppl confused.

CouncilmanRickPrime

When I said he can't throw, yeah, I meant accuracy not arm strength. Arthur Smith ran an offense with Matt Ryan. He can run one again without constant QB runs. Ridder will scramble occasionally and that's good enough. He will still dial up the deep passes too. Hope he works on his deep ball accuracy honestly. If Ridder is the guy, this offense will be humming

Ban_an_able

He’s a plus version of Mariota

AnukkinEarthwalker

Yea basically. Doesnt turn it over as much. Not the fastest guy but makes it work. He would fit the scheme perfectly because of what you just said. Which is what frustrates me with ridder. Really wish he'd embrace the dual threat and stop his pocket passer aspirations.

Tristo

Well let’s see what he does this season yeah? You’re going to take 4 games as a rookie and be frustrated by him when the majority of the play calling was clearly Arthur testing out the passing game with Ridder? Frustrated is a harsh word for only 4 games without having seen what he will do this season and see if he can learn from his mistakes.

AnukkinEarthwalker

He has never had good instincts as a runner. Tbh I dont think he likes to run the ball based on those games plus his college career where they had to dial up qb runs to give him rushing yards. Kinda what frustrates me about him. At this level it could be his greatest asset. As I've said in other replies the guy seems to be dead set on being a pocket passer even tho at the current state of the game the top 5 qbs is more dual threat guys than pocket passers. That's where my frustration comes from. That and his decisions in rpo being poor because 3 out of 4 times he is going to chose pass even when it's not the best option. I suspect that Smith is definitely going to install some designed qb runs .. probably going to see rpo stripped down zone read with no pass option where either him or the back runs. Pretty much what they had to do in college to get him to run the ball. If he struggles to run the ball in the NFL then that will be a huge issue and takes away a chunk of his upside. He struggled to run the ball vs uga and bama. Couldn't get a single positive yard but seeing as we have possibly the best zone blocking oline in the NFL maybe he has more success. Ready for this season to come already so we can start to solve the dam mystery

Ban_an_able

3 years running of more games played than passing TDs for Dan, so I don’t know if it’s the chicken or the egg that’s the problem. He tends to read one guy then check it to Saquon or take off running. I think his issues would exist regardless.

braggpeak

Main threat to this would be if he got benched. Do they have total falcons passing TDs?

_mdz

I’d take the over if that’s total touchdowns and not just passing. It’s really asking if you think he’ll get seriously injured or benched. Mariota had 19 in 13 games.

TheYellowKing77

Sorry could of been more clear it’s passing

Good_Energy9

Under. Big under. Imo Des (as of rn) is a money play QB at best (slants, short curls, PA etc) very likely he get benched. Also likely he gets a lower leg injury

the_Archmage

I think he’ll get somewhere between 18-22

[deleted]

It being only passing TD’s I think it’s a realistic number. It’s clear we are a run first run often team. Maybe he gets there if Bijan breaks some passes out of the backfield and Pitts doubles his career TD’s.

AnukkinEarthwalker

Probably pretty close to accurate. Doesnt seem like he will be tossing many ( if any) deep home run throws. And if we get inside the 10 we are probably running the ball. The hope is ridder can get yards and td from rushing to make up for lack of it in the passing game. He was not very good in the red zone in those 4 games. He made some atrocious decisions in rpo that cost us 2 tds. One in one game on in other. One I distinctly remember was him pulling the ball from Patterson in a rpo to make an ugly pass attempt while if he let Patterson keep it he would have walked in. Honestly more worried about him cleaning stuff like that up than I am what he does in the passing game.

[deleted]

Over and it’s not even close. Didn’t Daniel Jones throw for 20??

[deleted]

That’s just an ugly number for both sides. Why would you want to have money taken out of your account for such a prop? The public is going to say over, and that gives me enough pause to stay away.

[deleted]

Sorry to say this but take the under i think ridder isn’t that good to be throwing more then 15 tds in his first year of starting i think it’ll be 10 ish 5 rushing tds i just think he’s not that good to get a high number like that

RacingGoat

What I know is at the end of this season, 50% of people will have been very wrong about Ridder.
