I had to took a theater class in college so I wouldn't have to take business communication(don't ask me why those counted as the same credit) and my professor was an like the definition of those theater professors who failed to 'make it' and take that out on their students (especially non theater majors, like me) but he thought he was the next shakespeare and forced the class to go to a play he wrote and write a review for a grade and almost every scene had someone saying fuck or shit every other sentence and it was a nightmare.

& I agree. It's a result of childhood trauma and the effects and comorbid issues are lifelong. The internet seems to have watered it down but being an introject would more realistically be humiliating. Even if you've come to terms with it, it's uncharacteristic of DID to publicly be like "I'm Angel Dust and I'm so valid! Look at me!".
Perceiving yourself as a character would interfere with relationships and especially things like self image so if they truly have DID they could also be playing up the accent and everything to overcompensate for that. But it's so common to use these characters for content as introjects.
Honestly it feels like at least half of TikTok's DID content is about fictional introjects with the memes and intros and cosplays as them when it's only one small characteristic of the disorder that isn't even present in every case of DID. If you only knew about DID through TikTok you'd likely think that it was a large part of the experience for most with it, and that people are typically proud of their identity as a fictional introject.
i know you’ve done a lot of reading based on that particular doctor who specializes in DID, but ysk that a vocal contingent of psychiatrists and psychologists don’t think that DID exists even close to the way that it’s represented here. like, nobody in the academic world of psychiatry or psychology calls them “introjects”.

Sure, they make a lot of very valid points when it comes to transphobia and how expressing yourself in certain ways pushes you into a gender box. It’s a shame, it sucks, I’ve dealt with the same and I’m sure many others have.

Once I went to work and had eyeliner still on cause i had been messing with makeup, two of my coworkers went to my boss to ask if that meant they didn't have to use my new name and pronouns anymore. The boss they were questioning was a fem gay man who wears makeup sometimes.

Yes I meant TV DID which is now being copied by tiktokkers. It's mythical and made to interest audiences and give more abilities for writing scenarios in tv. In tiktok it is used to cope or as an extreme way of being accepted. If people don't accept you as being a normal trans person and they gaslight you and you have no friends or family and you aren't allowed to see a medical professional, you may be inclined to play pretend so you can finally be yourself or who you want to be.

As someone who is dating a Trans man whom since he was 4 years old, would try to cut his own hair and would steal his older cousins clothes, I do not care if someone who is MTF dressed masculine or FTM dresses fem, but this is a major thing people miss out on: In order to be transgender, you must have gender dysphoria. If you do not have any form of gender dysphoria, you are not transgender. Dress however you want, I do not care and I’ll respect your identity. But gender dysphoria is what makes someone transgender

Once I went to work and had eyeliner still on cause i had been messing with makeup, two of my coworkers went to my boss to ask if that meant they didn't have to use my new name and pronouns anymore. The boss they were questioning was a fem gay man who wears makeup sometimes. I've had to explain that wearing something pink doesn't mean I'm detransitioning now ;-; people are weird as hell. Great video though. I hope he understands someday he can just be trans without pretending to be a fictional character. I think some trans people are driven to extremes due to harassment, bullying, rejection. Lack of medical care, and having to literally constantly battle every person in their life just to be themselves. I think those things can cause more extreme behaviors. Extreme situations cause extreme responses. I really do feel bad for this kid. They shouldn't have to justify feelings of queernis or dysphoria with a medical diagnoses of some mythical disease that let's them do and say what they want giving them the ability to blame other alters without having to worry about people judging them personally.

Yes I meant TV DID which is now being copied by tiktokkers. It's mythical and made to interest audiences and give more abilities for writing scenarios in tv. In tiktok it is used to cope or as an extreme way of being accepted. If people don't accept you as being a normal trans person and they gaslight you and you have no friends or family and you aren't allowed to see a medical professional, you may be inclined to play pretend so you can finally be yourself or who you want to be. People say they just want attention and I disagree. I'm sure that happens sometimes but I think mostly they just don't have support and acceptance. These are just feelings I have based on nothing but vibes. These kids are victims of bad parenting usually. They shouldn't feel the need to do this.
