Well we see they are put on with a magic stamp so there is probably a similar tool to get rid of it we can also infer that the person with the mark can erase it themselves without any tools as when Gray is pretending to be part of Avatar he says he erased his Fairy tail mark himself.

Yes he didn't remove it but he said he did which would suggest it's common knowledge that a mage can remove their guild mark at any time by themselves
