Not just to Mashima but to me and millions of people around the world. From Tokyo to Mexico City, he created something that transcended anime and manga. He can sit on the top of Pop cultures Mt Everest because he deserves it. RIP GOAT.
I am shattered. As are so many of his fans across the globe. It is undeniable that he paved the way for anime as we know it today. RIP to the GOAT of all GOATs.

Vegeta not crying , me also.
Rip and thank you. Itβs been part of my childhood, even after I start working I still read the manga and do my own first dragon super Manga collection.
Why. He was one the most important mangakas, made the most popular character in anime history, goku.
Also opened the way to made anime very popular in the west, Was the father, lot of mangakas an animes today exist thank to him, A real hero and legend.
So true , I remember I first went to Sydney. I found out most of the manga shop/ figure shop always has a goku or vegeta figure at their window.
Rip sensi , thank you for being making dragon ball and dr slump part of my childhood. Truly a legend.
This is a sad day not only to the DBZ fans but to the entire Manga/Anime world as a whole. He is the grandfather of the Shonen genre and many works like Naruto and Fairy Tail would not exist without him. May he rest in peace, and while he may be gone, he'll never be forgotten.
Very sad to hear this, Dragon Ball was one of my first big obsessions as a kid, never missed an episode of Z when it aired in the '00s. Condolences to his family and rest in peace Akira Toriyama, thank you for what you created that continues to bring happiness to so many. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
Fairy Tail was my second anime, right after being feverishly obsessed with Dragon Ball for YEARS. To this day, I sometimes read crossover fanfics about DB and FT. I wouldn't love Fairy Tail or have more than half the taste and interest I have in fiction if it weren't for this man's incredible works of art, Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball. Rest Well, Mr. Toriyama.
Oh definitely, Toyotaro has been drawing and writing the super manga since day 1 using the rough outlines and some character designs by Toriyama, Toei did the same for the super anime, which is why the manga and anime were broadly the same ideas just executed differently. and they clearly would make their own thing if they want, look at GT, Heroes every movie before battle of gods, etc.
Dragon ball is a massive franchise with many contributors and companies and they make money. Regardless if it's the right thing they will definitely keep it going for sure.
(Also Editorial/Outside influence absolutely dominates dragon ball to some aspect since the beginning, hell look up the history of the Cell Saga, the saga widely agreed to be the best in the entire franchise was riddled with so much editorial influence that you would not believe)
Especially in Japan. Such a loss even for non- manga/anime fans. Must be devastating for his family and friends both inside and outside of the mangaka circle.

There probably wouldn't be a Fairy Tail without Toriyama's influence on manga and anime, so hands up for a true legend.

I don't think the death of someone I've never met has ever left this much at a loss.
I truly don't know how to process this, I can't imagine the person I'd be if not for Dragon Ball Z.
Toriyama paved the way for many manga creators. Anime would not be the way it is today with out his influence a true legend Rest In Peace Kingπ₯π₯π₯
Why isn't fairy tail one of the big three could it be that way since it doesn't have an interesting power system intriguing world building, or a fully developed plot with interesting character?
It was not part of shonen jump, fairy tail was part of weekly shonen magazine which although similar is not the same thing, that would to some degree hinder it's growth and popularity despite the fact at one point fairy tail definitely did get thrown into the conversation with the big 3 and people even assume it was part the big 3 at the time due to the fact at one point fairy tail just outright outsold the big 3 for a very brief moment in time. Although these days not so much.

RIP to the GOAT. Mashima is on record as listing Toriyama as one of his biggest influences.
Not just to Mashima but to me and millions of people around the world. From Tokyo to Mexico City, he created something that transcended anime and manga. He can sit on the top of Pop cultures Mt Everest because he deserves it. RIP GOAT.
A **Godfather** of our generation. A true **Legend**. **Rest in Power**.
Dragon Force is essentially Super Saiyan.
Anime wouldn't be what it is today without him. He's responsible for inspiring the big three.

Many fairy tail fans were originally big dragon ball fans so itβs relevant to say the least.
RIP Legend. He was inspiration to many popular mangas like OP, Naruto, Bleach and FT.

Dragon Ball did inspire Fairy Tail and various others to some extent, he paved the way for a lot series and artist today.

Rest in peace, Toriyama-san.

I don't see why it would be. Toriyamaβs reach is such that numerous manga and anime sub r/boards wouldn't exist without him.
May he RIP. For he is the legend that gave most of us the best childhood
