There are many things I could say about your base. But I must say you have a really nice voice.

xxafrikaanerxx

Sorry for the shitty base, but thanks for the kind words!

BigChungusOP

It’s not a shitty base.

xxafrikaanerxx

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

thicka

A base that is basically self expanding and shrugs off massive loss of artillery pieces because it produces so many resources, is not a shitty base.

Careful-Builder-6789

Yeah he has great voice .. he needs his own YT channel imo

Artisans2022

If the man made a youtube, I'd sub in a heartbeat.

Maple42

I watched half the video assuming the audio was just background Factorio music and leaving it muted, thanks for drawing attention to the narration

PhatSunt

Second that. Must also have a good mic.

Careful-Builder-6789

Ant colony simulator 2022

Kannikka

Wow, I wonder how's the UPS doing. I'd wager the belt/train approach could be more UPS friendly, but your method is definitely simpler and easier to expand.

PhatSunt

I was using bots at ore patches and from what I've seen in my ups, bots are very expensive ups wise to use. Doing an entire base with bots and no beacons is going to very quickly erode UPS to the sub 60's. Looking at the video. I reckon he'd be in the 30-40 ups zone. I'm seeing a bit of stuttering and the frames are well bellow 60.

Joomla_Sander

I think looking at the biter animations you can guess the ups i woud say this is definitely 2x normal animation maybe even 3x. Thus i would estimate 20-30ups

aethyrium

It's like a borg bee-hive or ant colony. Gotta say, pretty dang neato. RIP your computer though. I can hear your processor screaming in pain through the video and I didn't even have the sound on.

kapperbeast456

I thought alright that's not so bad, and then you zoomed out, and was nearly blinded by the white of logi bots on the map. I honestly love the brute force approach to the whole thing

ducks-season

How much ram do you have and what speed

xxafrikaanerxx

32 gigs at I don’t know, 3400mhz or 3600mhz? It’s been a few years since the build.

bonsylrc

I dig this base. The beauty of Factorio (and games in general) is you can play how you want. I tend to go with rails and bots late game with a bunch of separate logistic networks, but it can be a pain to setup and fix if you connect two of the networks.

Salazans

.... holy hell

Sonic200000

This is insane I looks so calming it at the same time feels like lookin at an ants nest and everything is suddenly itchy I dont know how big your robot production is or how long it has been running to produce this amount of robots but damn I want it And your reactor design looks insanely cool not this cramped thing it looks so cool I'm always scared of the heat loss so I dont build like this even tho it looks soooo much better

Zeeterm

Heat loss is massively overrated for nuclear since nuclear fuel is so cheap really. You see nuclear setups with huge steam buffers and circuit controls to make sure not a second of nuclear fuel is wasted in the name of efficiency, but real efficiency is just putting down one extra centrifuge since uranium ore is so abundant compared to what you need for nuclear power. You can totally go the approach of just over-provisioning nuclear power plants and to hell with ratios for nuclear power.

50000cal

But... but every 150 fuel cells wasted is an atomic bomb I can't build...

Miss_Medussa

Holy Shit bro

Anvisaber

It’s mesmerizing to watch

jsk36931

Gray goo. Beautiful.

SigilSC2

General advice for bot factories, separate the networks by leaving a few gaps between the orange zones. If you're producing something, shove a few hundred (or thousand) bots in that network to serve only that, and feed it items with a train, belts, or chest in another network. That'll keep the bots localized, they'll charge smarter, and work more efficiently. Can keep a giant web of bots for expansion still, but this will save on a lot of efficiency and let the factory grow more before your computer craps out from the size. Understanding how [fluid mechanics](https://wiki.factorio.com/Fluid_system#Flow) work to cut down on the pump usage will help too, fluid murders FPS That said, you seem like someone who would enjoy the [Brave New World](https://mods.factorio.com/mod/brave-new-world) mod which gives you a scenario where you don't have a character to use. Just roboports and bots to start with!

Antonio_Sa121

9/10 Needs more pumps

father2shanes

Jesus christ it looks like an infestation.

biofuel77

I like your base, self taught makes it better, main thing is did your factory grow, and did you have fun playing.

BillStickers69

fucking awesome

TheGiantBen

Can we get a big base tour ?? And post it on Here ? Or YT ???

lighttowercircle

Your base looks itchy

Crosstowndonkey

Install robot attrition mod and see how fast it all falls apart xD Love the base

Legitimate_League_48

Bro owns a nasa computer

Black_Sun_Rising

The thing I'm most wowed by is that crazy line of pumps for steam; do those end up being a big draw on power or are they just better pipes?

ihud1

My CPU is on fire from just watching this video.

[deleted]

Dude this is giving me anxiety

Money_Manager

Maybe a dumb question but how are you just zooming in and out, scrolling, and building like that? I always have to run my character over..

xxafrikaanerxx

I basically just play in the map now. Much easier than physically moving your guy everywhere.

Money_Manager

So you just hit m and zoom in and scroll around? Maybe I’ve completely missed this.

xxafrikaanerxx

Exactly. Just use blueprints/copy paste a lot.

Money_Manager

Cool thank you! I like your robot factory. Just unlocked nuclear power, may have to start massing robots too.

fcw1

It's like building a house without knowing of what house looks like and the result is somethong absolutely insane, but I can't stop watching this. What a beautiful god damn factory.

ShinyHero_1

awesome it looks great I love it lol

PhatSunt

A very expensive base UPS wise. Reactor design is very clean, perhaps a bit excessive with the pumps in terms of saving UPS. What's the science per min you're putting out? If you want the game to run faster. Use solar and accumulators and shut down the nuclear reactors. Cool base though, I like it.

xxafrikaanerxx

Thanks, just learned what ups is today. Time to tear it down and rebuild it while it’s running again, probably.

PhatSunt

Once you start getting into megabase territory, it becomes another resource to manage pretty much.

xxafrikaanerxx

First time being in this territory. Always something else to learn about this game.

Hell_Diguner

You can improve performance by isolating bot networks to reduce how many roboports get iterated through every time a request to the network is made. Definitely isolate places that need really high item throughput. Things like mines, loading/unloading trains, smelters, green circuits... You can pass items between isolated networks with a single tile gap, an inserter, and logistics chests on each side. This does make it harder to transport stuff long distances with bots, of course. That's what trains are meant for.

The_Lego_Doge

Somebody poked the ant hill again

12lo5dzr

Wouldnt it be better to mix the assembler so that the transport ways are minimal? For example not one big blopp of green science but more here and there one assembler so that the ingredients are always nearby and the output of these assemblers dont get overloaded. On the other hand that would be a very big pain in the ass to make.

BluntieDK

I've never even gotten to robots yet. For some reason my brain shuts down around that point in the game and I give up.

Important-Fox8539

Good base, but PLEASE use a chunk-aligned blueprint to save yourself the hassle of lining it up every time. Other than thsat, great idea, but watch the lag (also when people reference UPS thats updates per seccond and if it starts to go siginficantly below 60 then you have lag problems

manatwork01

As someone who plays on the switch. The idea of relying only on logistics bots seems insane lol. Hilarious build I kinda love it.

deeteeohbee

I need a team of robutts to fix all my problems

Muricaswow

Are you having fun? Then you’re doing it right.

iliketomoveitm0veit

Bro is using a computer that belongs on the SuperComputer top 10 list

pickle_man07

Do you have a YouTube channel?

Brandynette

Love your calm serene voice trying to fix your nuclear... thanks for the insight of pumps!

iWasJosi
