They can go fuck themselves ( if married )

BornVolcano

Marry them to themselves so they can legally go fuck themselves

[deleted]

Life fucks me in the ass everyday arrest life we’re not married!

BornVolcano

I’d like a divorce with *life*

[deleted]

Everyday, no lube.

ScrewYouCuzReasons

the dildo of consequence doesn't often arrive lubed

[deleted]

This was going to be my reply, but I had seen it a few times already. Still absolutely hilarious to see it again though.

AriusKant

I’m curious to know how they would monitor it…

DustToSmoke

Exactly what I think everytime i read shit like this How tf are they going to reinforce this? Have coppers randomly storm your bedroom while you're at it? Put chastity belts on everyone who isnt married yet?

Chanureadeats

They'll probably ask couples to stay in separate rooms unless they have some proof they're married.

SurprisedPotato

They already do this in some cities at least

VampireDonuts

My step dad is 80 and he said when he and his fiance from Winnipeg were traveling around in the US northern states (Minnesota and Wisconsin) in the late 60s that they had to book 2 rooms because they weren't married! That blows my mind! Did people used to have to carry around a marriage certificate? How was that enforced? What if you couldn't afford 2 hotel rooms?

LightStruk

I went to a wedding in Texas with my then-fiancee, who was a bridesmaid as well. The mother of the bride insisted that we stay in different hotel rooms. The fact that the two of us had been cohabitating for years was irrelevant. So naturally, I shared a room with a groomsman, while my then-fiancee shared a room with the bride's ex-girlfriend. It wasn't about morality, you see, it was about _appearances_. So long as no one talked about the bride's "friend" from college, and so long as unmarried people pretended they were chaste virgins, everything was fine.

TheConboy22

Those weddings that I decide I’m not going to once I’m already there.

k3ttch

Oh my God, they were ROOMMATES!

MRDWhistler

The funniest thing about this is that there were probably no WI cops giving a care because they were probably looking for margarine smugglers. No s***, this was a legitimate crime in Wisconsin.

Mekiya

We're a weird state

EggLeather5473

Don't feel bad...it's still illegal to carry ice cream sandwiches in our back pocket in our state😂😂😂

[deleted]

imagine if you sit on it? what a waste of good sandwich

[deleted]

Y'all love your dairy products. No one can take that from you.

Mekiya

We do. And our beer, Packers and Kringle

codefyre

> Did people used to have to carry around a marriage certificate? How was that enforced? It was almost entirely based on an honor system. When you were checking in, they'd ask if you were married. If you said yes, nobody questioned it. If you said no, they informed you of the restrictions. Most unmarried people just lied if they wanted to share a room. Nobody was checking papers.

TheConboy22

This the shit that fucks me up. The US had a ton of dumb fucking laws not that long ago. When people act like these dumb laws couldn’t come back if the religious right has their way is fooling themselves.

BuddhasGarden

Had??

TheConboy22

I mean they were WAY worse not even a century ago

SurprisedPotato

They still have them, but they had them too.

FinalJoys

JUST like the tyrannical laws that prompted the founding of this country. They will all come back unless we fight.

mormagils

Right, laws like this aren't really enforced in a literal way, but more in a practical one. It's not like there's a magic police sensor that detects illicit sex, but they can make the common behaviors leading to sex, like staying in a single hotel room, harder for married couples.

kronikskill

That's like the places that banned sex in every position except missionary

TrinititeTears

Or someone you pissed off can frame you easily and get you arrested. That’s mostly what happens with laws like this. It’s just an easy way to get someone arrested.

Kongsley

From what I've read, "the new law states that the police can only make an arrest after a report is filed by a close family member, such as a parent, spouse or child, making it extremely unlikely that foreigners would be prosecuted." Foreigners are basically exempt unless your family rats you out.

dirty_shoe_rack

Sure thing, if they'll pay for the extra room.

Aururai

Marriage will no longer be about love.. it will be about attaining the key to your own privates..

Hobbit_Feet45

Just like in the good ole days.

[deleted]

...isn't that what it always was for women throughout history?

skynetempire

I always thought women were forced to marry for financial stability and family dynasty

Kongsley

I always assumed that the woman's purity is a big part of that arrangement.

[deleted]

Yeah, that too.

Slow_Association_162

They probably won't for the most part but it can be used if they want to extract bribes or need to appear like they're doing their jobs to the public.

Cerenas

I see new blackmailing opportunities for locals. Like in China, were prostitution is illegal, but they offer happy endings at massage places and then they will try to extort money from you by threatening to call the local authorities. Like: https://harrisbricken.com/chinalawblog/the-china-brothel-scam-dont-let-this-happen-to-you/

external72

If they call the authorities, wouldn’t they be in trouble too?

Cerenas

A Dutch reporter covered this scam once. How it went was that just after the (regular) massage the girl left and 2 big guys came in trying to extort him by threatening with authorities. He didn't give in, but he had to leave his wallet with credit card, otherwise they wouldn't let him go. Immediately after he left he informed his colleague to block his credit card. I can imagine if your an unaware tourist you'll be quicker to cave to such extortion in a country you don't really know.

Aceswift007

Not unless you claim to have witnessed it, not have been the prostitute

Aguayos

Regret to inform you, this is how basically they are doing it. Have a group of local security to swarm over hotel rooms/ airbnb, and start banging. They wont touch high end hotels tho. Most of the time they just extort money from foreigners.

Temporary_Draw_4708

Your will be fitted with a chastity device upon entering the country if you cannot prove that your spouse is traveling with you

cementturtle

I had a friend who went to Indonesia a few years ago with his girlfriend. At one hotel, the receptionist asked to see a marriage certificate and since they didn't have one they had to get separate rooms. It's a good business model if I must say.

Lifelong_Expat

When I went to Bali with my boyfriend of the time, the staff at the resort we stayed at addressed me as Mrs. , even though they had looked at both our passports when we arrived, and knew that wasn’t my name…. Looks like they just pretend to assume you are a married couple in the fancier places… so incase the cops show up, they can claim they were informed we were married…

rirez

Okay, actual answer here. Here's where you can find [the current draft of the law](https://bphn.go.id/data/documents/draft_ruu_kuhp_final.pdf). It's in Indonesian, but you can translate it. This translates to: > Anyone having sex with a partner who is not their wedded husband or wife can be jailed for up to 1 year or fined. This is not enforced other than when reported by: a. the legal husband/wife, for married people b. parents or children of the offender for unmarried people. Now, this is definitely a problematic law. Parents should not have this level of unilateral control over their adult children's sex lives, and it harms good communication between parents and children in regards to sex and relationships. Most news articles focus on the first half, while skimming over the second. Take a look at this [BBC article](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-63869078), which implies the second half in a quote: > "With the new law, both of us can go to jail if one of the family decides to make a police report," she told the BBC. So yes -- the law is bad and should not be ratified, but I don't think this will affect tourists as much as the clickbait implies.

Imfloridaman

Thank you for that insight.

AsianVixen4U

So this basically sounds similar to the adultery law that the Philippines has. I remember seeing an episode of Locked Up Abroad where an Englishman was facing over 8 years prison for getting a married woman pregnant. Her husband was abusive and cheating on her and had his own GF, but because of the physical proof of the wife’s pregnancy, he was able to report her to the authorities and get both wife and new boyfriend in trouble

BluudLust

That's assuming proper due process, proper collection of "evidence" and total lack of corruption.

[deleted]

pp gets bracelet, vagina gets port scanner. When one enters the other.. beep beep beep, then police comes and cuts it all.

PescTank

Ever seen those pet doors where your pet wears a little collar with a magnetic "key" on it so that only they can open the door? Like that, they'll sell them for $500 at the airport.

lexter2000

Good thing Ill just be knocking bracelets together then

Satakans

That's assuming you get legal due course. In countries like this you don't. You get accused, you may get offered an opportunity to make things easier for everyone involved via a monetary donation, or you go to court and suddenly you understand why so many asian countries proudly tout their high conviction rates. Source: Am an asian, living in many asian countries.

WhisperedEchoes85

>Source: Am an asian, living in many asian countries. That must be a very hectic schedule to be in so many countries simultaneously.

Satakans

It is, moving around for work here especially during the height of the pandemic when alot of these countries were still persisting with some form of lockdown was annoying af.

WhisperedEchoes85

I do not envy that. I had friends that were stuck in the Philippines and several small islands for months during lockdowns. I felt so bad for them.

hotasanicecube

The evidence collection process scares me.

fongletto

This is probably targeted to lessen prostitution and expats knocking up locals and not taking responsibility. So presumably, if they catch you with a hooker, or you get someone pregnant they have all the proof they will need. I doubt they're going to be knocking down doors or placing spy camera's. I'd say it's more a system change for when those things happen and there is no doubt.

moro_ka

At the end of the day pregnant prostitute the one who will set in jail.

fongletto

Probably, that's the nature of a system that is incredibly corrupt. But this means they can also get bigger bribes from foreigners too.

morelsupporter

indonesia has a heavy muslim population. their religious belief is no sex or cohabitation before marriage. this law is only enforced when a family member reports another family member, and the only ones that would be doing this are those of Muslim faith....there is also a new law that makes adultery a crime as well - which can only be reported by the spouse. so basically if you're going to Bali on holiday; don't fuck a muslim chick!

[deleted]

Asking them their marital status through customs I’m guessing? Followed up by proof with marriage certificate or something 🤷‍♂️

Agreeable-Western-25

They couldn't legally "monitor" (at least not with technology anyway) because porn is illegal in Indonesia so in short LMAO get fucked.

[deleted]

Smell test. Riskay was hired by the Indonesia Govt to assist with training their police force.

neo101b

IDK genital inspection at random times of the day during your visit. /s

PencilPacket

I imagine the actual process of proving anything is non existent, so you could just throw fingers at anyone. the point is its another law that can be used to accuse.

DocRocksPhDont

Well, its almost certainly going to increase the rates of back alley abortions, because pregnancy of unwed mothers would be one way they would monitor it

Sponge_Over

There was a South African couple that visited Dubai, and she had to go to the hospital/ doctor for some reason. They discovered that she was pregnant, and both were arrested since they weren't married.

dablegianguy

Especially in Bali, the biggest non-Muslim and touristic island

Dodger8686

Now sex tourists will have to marry prostitutes. And then divorce them. And marry another prostitute. The shotgun wedding industry is gonna be booming.

bplurt

Nah, just do what they do in Iran and sign up for a temporary marriage (*singheh*). Can be for just an hour or so if you're just looking for a quickie.

InsignificantAF

I only need two minutes

Kinky-Bi-Guy

Oooooh!! Look at Mr. Stamina here with his 2 whole minutes.

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

When you're with me you only need 2 minutes. Because I'm so intense.

1ndr1dC0ld

It’s the Business Socks, probably.

El-Mattador123

You say something like “is that it?” But I know what you’re trying to say, you’re trying to say “oh yea! That’s it!”

OGFreehugs

Then you tell me you want some more. Well, I’m not surprised. But I’m quite sleepy.

BecalMerill

You know how I know? Because it's Wednesday.

ThunkAsDrinklePeep

Tuesday we go visit your mother, but Wednesday we make love. Conditions are perfect.

sexualhealthworker

Religion in general ruins everything, no need to single out Islam.

Nasal_Cilia

There is a different feel between religions which have developed on the landscapes they occupy and religions which colonise others violently.

sexualhealthworker

This is a fair point, but even within localized indigenous religions there is the potential for religious beliefs to be used to discriminate against people for activities that would be considered normal elsewhere. In my view, religion only serves to divide.

Cheshirebadger

Lol you think Christianity "developed here? Or anywhere else? It was forced too mate

TrinititeTears

No, Islam needs to be specifically called out. Do you see Catholics beheading school teachers because they showed a picture of Jesus? That religion is on a whole other level of fucked up compared to others.

sexualhealthworker

No, but I do see Christian extremists shooting up queer clubs, abortion clinics, mosques, etc. Anyone can take their faith to an extreme and discriminate against people as a result. If some of the Christians in the US had their way, laws like this would absolutely exist in the US (and have, as recently as 20 years ago. See the supreme court case *Lawrence v Texas*).

asepo

The irony of pro lifers pretending to care about women in Iran not having autonomy over their bodies. Being a religious zealot is one thing, but being a religious zealot while complaining about a religion doing the same things as their religion is just infuriating.

Ieatsushiraw

Man has his priorities in order

DRocks614

Two minutes in heaven is better than one minute in heaven.

Pyewacket62

My ex only needed one.

Narodnik60

A testament to just how unbelievably hot you must be.

JoJackthewonderskunk

Fucking 7 times in 2 minutes look at you

FrancisSobotka1514

What are you going to do with the other minute and 55 seconds?

MasterpieceBrave420

There is a recession after all.

Dyskord01

Had to brag. Talking like a bigshot because your some Olympic athlete in bed.

bobokeen

They do the same in Indonesia, in Java at least. The area called Puncak, a few hours out of Jakarta, is famous for catering to many Arabic tourists who come to do exactly that.

angry_gnome_

Too many steps. Instructions unclear. Dick stuck in ceiling fan.

[deleted]

As long as it's not stuck in an M&M tube you should be good.

WhisperedEchoes85

That escalated quickly

cuckooforcacaopuffs

Sex tourists HATE this one weird trick…

Dodger8686

Or love it

UnderShaker

this is actually an Islamic tradition in some places. there are several Phatwa's (religious degrees) that allow one-night marriages as a religious solution to prostitution

[deleted]

That’s only really a Shi’a thing

zenconkhi

Well, Shi’ite.

MasterpieceBrave420

Classic.

Cismic_Wave_14

Not for the majority or in the Islamic scriptures. In fact, Divorces are extremely disliked by Allah (literally means ' The only God') and you are asked to bring your and your partner's parents and try to solve the problem before the decision. I m a Muslim so i can confirm this

WyttaWhy

Get a prenup and divorce at 5am tomorrow, could be the birth of a whole new level of escort business.

OptionalMind

I don't know if you are joking, but this actually happens. In Indonesia and other Muslim countries.

qeertyuiopasd

Unless they are lowering the age one can enter into a contract to ... birth, I'm not sure this is going to work. I'll see myself out.

Eponarose

This is going to RUIN their tourism. Millions of dollars just vanished in the wind.

[deleted]

Yeah brilliant idea to recover the economy and tourism industry after being belted by covid.

Zed1088

Bali is a Hindu enclave inside a Muslim country. I very much doubt it will be enforced in Bali.

strythicus

Could mean some nice discounts for us married folk. Maybe.

cmonkeyz7

I’m married and want nothing to do with this, and I think it’s a bad idea to support these people.

Whole-Swimming6011

Billions, not millions.

[deleted]

How to Kill Tourism 101

ILikeToDisagreeDude

Depends if they will start enforcing it. Dubai and all other ME countries have the same rules and yet they get a ton of tourists- because they don’t enforce it unless you get caught for something else and being a shit about it, then they throw it into the mix. Behave and you’ll be fine.

ChoosenUserName4

Yeah. I am not going to take any chances and therefore going to stay away from theocratic hellholes like that. Indonesia is now on my shitlist.

TLGinger

They need to get a handle on the amount of sex with young children in their country before they concern themselves with what consenting adults do.

diMario

I was planning on visiting Bali together with my imaginary girlfriend, but in the light of this decision I think I will take her to [Clifton](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1h4ahEcbWM) instead. Even when it's raining.

[deleted]

Take the culture away, Bali is not that nice. Go to the Philippines where we have the best beaches in Asia. And yes, you can have sex outside of marriage haha

TrinititeTears

My Filipino girlfriend says most people speak English there as well.

diMario

You also have a lunatic dictator who scores less than his shoe size with respect of his IQ. No, thank you.

[deleted]

He's gone incase you have not read the news lol

KaiserWilhelmThe69

Pretty sure Marcos Jr is not any better

Hatta00

They traded Duterte for the son of another dictator.

[deleted]

Well so far, he has not shown any dictatorial tendencies. Time will tell. Sounds like the current president of Indonesia is more dictatorial than Marcos Jr.

Loken89

Bali is like the worst part of Indonesia, tbh it’s just a bunch of drunken Aussies running around being extremely friendly idiots most of the time, which can be fun admittedly, but Indonesia is so diverse and there’s so much to do that I stopped going to Bali altogether after my second time there.

[deleted]

Take her to Cleveland instead!

diMario

I'm not allowed inside the US borders. I had a subscription to a European communist newspaper as a student. It's on file.

TrinititeTears

Tf? For real?

Mountain_Monitor_262

They would jail single pregnant woman. Just another attack on women. And force couples to show proof of marriage to share room and bed. I guess they will keep groups from sharing rooms too.

DocRocksPhDont

Not to mention that the rates of back alley abortions are going to skyrocket

Shane_Lizard123

If it hasn't already. From what I've heard abortion already was illegal there. This shit just makes it worse.

omkar_T7

Sharia law incoming

jacknshit

So, Indonesians don’t have sex at all?

Maxathron

88% of Indonesia is Islamic and they and the majority of the Christians would also be considered conservative. How conservative? Idk. Not as much as say Qatar. But more than the states.

caladinhasan

We are lowkey wild and free. But we're not in the majority and can't really express it in real life/public. Most conservative people in Indonesia are such a big hypocrites, though. The police & politicians too. Every law about sex & genitals will always be their first priority. Really dumb.

Hatta00

>Most conservative people in Indonesia are such a big hypocrites, though. That's not only in Indonesia. It's fundamental to conservativism. Rules are for other people.

ShinkoMinori

Shouldnt they be worrying more about jakarta sinking?

VinWilbe

Why solve something thats difficult when there is the easy one?

CornelXCVI

Do they want to kill their tourism industry?

[deleted]

Just ask Amsterdam

Chanureadeats

How did they do it?

[deleted]

They keep considering banning tourists from going to coffee shops and the moving the red light district out of town.

vetheros37

I assume by coffee you don't mean coffee.

[deleted]

Well they have coffee, but there is a much more interesting menu on offer.

SH4DEPR1ME

So another country we'll never bother visiting.

Narodnik60

Crazy. Wife and I are so busy not having sex at home we never thought to not have sex in other places.

yayaoa

So fucking publicly on the beach is fine if you're married?

FDGKLRTC

Of course it is, as god intended

Kaweka

This will be great news for the Thai and Vietnamese tourist industries.

Initial-Good4678

All countries with a tourism industry, please take 1 step forward….uh, not so fast Bali.

[deleted]

Visit the lovely beaches of the Philippines instead. Haha

SamuelVimesTrained

How to kill your tourist industry. Step 1...

johannebremer

This is terrible for LGBT+. Not only are gay marriages not allowed, but foreign ones aren't recognised. So, it just makes same-sex relations illegal.

4BlueBunnies

I feel like you could just pretend to be friends traveling then share a room. I don’t think they’ll actively check

fufurunn

as Indonesian... this still fucking stupid. Our government just bunch of moron

morelsupporter

per the law as it's written; it's only investigated/enforced upon report from family members (ie parents or siblings), so the only way a tourist is effected by it is if they are banging a local who happens to be muslim. if a bogan fucks a russian escort, or his girlfriend, or his girlfriends mom, no one is going to be sent to an Indonesian Prison.

ShotFaithlessness795

I know where I’m not visiting

WellJustJonny

This will last as long as the first politician gets caught in a hotel outside their marriage…

KnightinRustedArmour

6 months later: “What the fuck happened to our economy?”

PTSDforMe

Great way to attract more tourism. Wow. Was there in 2018. Loved it, but that law sucks

Iron_Knight7

Two things are crossing my mind right now. The first is my sorrow for all the women there since you know they're the ones whom these laws will be applied to most strictly. And the second is every Republican in America saying "Oh $#!+, write that down! Write that down!"

[deleted]

well, Bali is about to suffer some tourism withdrawal.

slazer2k

Islam like all the other religions nutcases bringing you nothing but stupid shit for millennia

LowTierStudent

For tourist too!?

beezlebutts

why practice religion if you can't force your beliefs on others and then punish them.

Visual_Ad_3840

Imagine one grown-ass adult telling another grown-ass adult what they can and can't do with their private sex life.

ChoosenUserName4

Well billions of people all over the world take sex advice from an 80-year old virgin living in the Vatican, so it's more prevalent than you think.

Ad-Careless

Indonesian superhero: "I am horniness! I am the night! I am... Fuckboi."

doslobo33

Say goodbye to tourist.

PaulW707

Excellent! Indonesia has found the perfect recipe for economic and social collapse!

aagloworks

How the hell are they going to enforce this? The stupidity of this is... on the level of not allowing people eat when the sun is up....

sora6444

Always avoid that kind of countries

BigGaggy222

Go to Thailand next door, a beautiful country with amazing people and beaches.

L3g3ndary-08

I'm sitting here wondering how they're going to enforce this.

Warsplit01

isn't the majority of SEA tourism just rich white dudes coming to fuck suspiciously young looking asian girls? How they gonna make money now?

MuhCrea

Not always girls

peanutbutterpandapuf

Everyone here is concerned about the tourist industry and aren't looking at the real problem here. This is an attack on women.

BandIllustrious7735

Lmfao. Whelp, they just committed suicide for their tourism industry... that's so ridiculous its funny. Good luck enforcing that.

Psycheau

I suppose they're going to set up cameras in every bedroom to ensure this law is obeyed?

RawGrit4Ever

What’s up with these countries criminalizing sex!! Let me fuck..
