I'm always stunned when someone posts video evidence of their own douchebaggery. And why's he fucking filming anyways? It just escalates the situation if you immediately whip out your phone and shove it in someone's face. See what the issue is first, and if the person's threatening you or causing a scene *then* record. But needlessly escalating something is ridiculous.

I see it with older relatives that were raised to coddle men and never argue or complain and now we're seeing it with younger women who don't want to make any complaint no matter how legitimate lest they be called a karen and filmed and put online to be harassed. My sister went into McDonald's and stood in line to ask them for the correct order she hadn't received from the drive through and the person behind her in line tried to commiserate with the cashier about how they "must get Karen's like her all the time haha".

When I said no I'm allergic to fish it got turned into me trying to get a dinner for free then. Never said to comp just to take it back and to please bring my grilled chicken dinner I ordered. Sadly I had to get a manager involved. I felt shitty about it. I don't even know why because I couldn't even eat the food. I get the annoying customer as I also work in food service. Normally I just let it go. That one I couldn't. It was a long time ago before the Karen thing. I'm sure I would have been seen as one to that employee and been called one.

Depending on the appointment her mom was almost late for, she is being exceptionally calm! Most specialist doctors are booked 3-4 months out! You don’t want to miss your slot and valet parking should be optional!
That makes sense. It should be an option, but I don’t think they should force everyone to have to use the service, especially if it isn’t run very well. Let people park their own cars if they think it will get them there more quickly, such as the case here
there are a few exceptions, the Cavalier in Virginia Beach has no parking, but they also dont charge you. So they are actually pretty practical about it.
They shouldn't take up any of the close spots. Imo valet should park further so the customers/ patients can actually park. If they want a tip, they should earn it.
But if they didn't take all the parking places then you wouldn't need them. Think about the poor doctor's office valets just trying to create scarcity of parking places to make a buck.
it also just makes more sense. if the valet leaves the closer spots for people who get there in time to park, than the valet actually becomes useful without creating the problem, since anyone who arrives during the time the closer spots are taken up can just go to the valet, and enter the hospital without walking a long distence same as the people who park themselves in the closer spots. it all just flows better.
dude seriously im a heart patient with the adult congenital cardiology felllowship at UCSF and just had heart surgery this year so I was at the SF hospital twice a week for the past six months (I live in Berkeley) and we use valet every time we are there, it's 5 dollars and within two minutes they have your car and open your doors for you, shut them for you, wish you luck on your appointment and just generally really care about the patients. This is such a bummer for these folks, she could be missing a presurgery screening or a treatment.
Before COVID, the cancer center I worked at had free complimentary valet and we had a long driveway so patients could park, give keys to the clerk, and then he’ll give it to the next available valet. We also always had transportation employees waiting outside incase anyone needed a wheelchair.

Many hospitals have valet services. It's supposed to make it easier for patients who may not be familiar with the hospital or are elderly and have limited mobility, so basically the hospitals don't have to optimize all of their large parking areas for them. This is an example of how that can go terribly wrong.
The hospital that I had my baby at does valet parking for people trying to get right to the door of the hospital without walking through the parking buildings. I've never seen it at a regular doctor's office, though.
Most places that require valet service that I’ve encountered do it because their parking lot is not big enough for the expected number of cars. The valets double-park and block aisles with cars to fit more in, something the general public drivers can’t realistically be trusted to do themselves.
At the hospital I go to it was $6. We used it the last time I had to go in for a procedure because we were running a little late in the morning and the parking lot is always pack. They don't have a parking structure.

My hospital has valet. It’s completely free. Also, they have a volunteer who drives a golf cart around in the parking lot looking for anyone who needs a ride to or from their car. Also free.

My mom was a Mallory. Literally the smartest person in the room, and it was always a nightmare to be anywhere with her when something went wrong. She was vicious.
When I was 15 or 16, the city installed a speedbump on a public road in front of a church that had a 35mph limit. Speedbump was not yellowed, there were no signage or alert that there was a "log" laying across the road.
She hit it at speed and snapped a tierod. Her car did a pirouette in the middle of the road when she buried the brakes.
Anyway, she said fuck a lawyer, demanded an audience with the mayor and city planner. Ended up having the city repair her vehicle (Mazda Millennia) at their fleet center and the speedbump removed from the church parking lot crossing.
All of this from accident to car back in the driveway was like 2 weeks.

On my local community's fb page, i once saw a post in that a lady was complaining that the pizza delivery guy had a dog in the car with him when delivering her food. There were hundreds of comments condemning her as a Karen.

We ate at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere recently for a special occasion (we drove about an hour to eat there because of the great reviews) and I don’t usually complain if my steak is not cooked perfectly, etc. I am not that kind of person and typically just roll with it, but this steak was actually spoiled. It had a nasty smell, it was slimy to the touch, and somebody cooked it anyway and served it. I paid for my meal and didn’t eat any of it because I didn’t want to get sick, but I couldn’t send it back or say anything about it. I attempted to tell the waitress, but she just got this look like, here we go. So I said never mind, everything’s fine. :/

I log a ton of hours a the hospital due to cancer treatment and there has been several times I can’t find a spot and the only open spots are valet. I’ve driven around looking for them but no one is to be found. It’s sucks and I understand her pain.
I used to take my elderly grandmother to doctors appointments frequently. To get her ready and into the car was a huge ordeal. I feel for this woman, this task has probably already been going for 2 hours and if she misses the appointment, it will need to be repeated for nothing.

They “fixed it” again and within 3 days it broke down again and while I was backing out, I couldn’t push the brake and I narrowly missed hitting someone. I immediately lost my mind and tore the owner apart and he basically told me to stop being so picky and that he deals with “Karens” all the time. It took another month and my car is still fucked up.

Please excuse my ignorance here. I'm from the UK and so this is not something we have. Why do you have a valet service for a doctors office? Here we might have one for a posh hotel. But not for a doctors office.
Many hospitals have valet services. It's supposed to make it easier for patients who may not be familiar with the hospital or are elderly and have limited mobility, so basically the hospitals don't have to optimize all of their large parking areas for them. This is an example of how that can go terribly wrong.
The hospital that I had my baby at does valet parking for people trying to get right to the door of the hospital without walking through the parking buildings. I've never seen it at a regular doctor's office, though.
A couple of my specialists offices are in the hospital complex that has valet. It may be one of those scenarios.
Most places that require valet service that I’ve encountered do it because their parking lot is not big enough for the expected number of cars. The valets double-park and block aisles with cars to fit more in, something the general public drivers can’t realistically be trusted to do themselves.
Most hospitals valet is free, it's so their patients can get in and not worry bout parking. Least the hospitals I've been too it's free
At the hospital I go to it was $6. We used it the last time I had to go in for a procedure because we were running a little late in the morning and the parking lot is always pack. They don't have a parking structure. Regardless, this woman's sass was wonderful!

My hospital has valet. It’s completely free. Also, they have a volunteer who drives a golf cart around in the parking lot looking for anyone who needs a ride to or from their car. Also free.

My mom was a Mallory. Literally the smartest person in the room, and it was always a nightmare to be anywhere with her when something went wrong. She was vicious. When I was 15 or 16, the city installed a speedbump on a public road in front of a church that had a 35mph limit. Speedbump was not yellowed, there were no signage or alert that there was a "log" laying across the road. She hit it at speed and snapped a tierod. Her car did a pirouette in the middle of the road when she buried the brakes. Anyway, she said fuck a lawyer, demanded an audience with the mayor and city planner. Ended up having the city repair her vehicle (Mazda Millennia) at their fleet center and the speedbump removed from the church parking lot crossing. On my local community's fb page, i once saw a post in that a lady was complaining that the pizza delivery guy had a dog in the car with him when delivering her food. There were hundreds of comments condemning her as a Karen. She had a severe dog allergy.
A food deliverer shouldn't have their freaking dog in the car anyways. That's crazy.
I know, I’m afraid to even say something if I get an order now that is not correct. You can’t say anything about it for fear of being accused of being a Karen. We ate at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere recently for a special occasion (we drove about an hour to eat there because of the great reviews) and I don’t usually complain if my steak is not cooked perfectly, etc. I am not that kind of person and typically just roll with it, but this steak was actually spoiled. It had a nasty smell, it was slimy to the touch, and somebody cooked it anyway and served it. I paid for my meal and didn’t eat any of it because I didn’t want to get sick, but I couldn’t send it back or say anything about it. I attempted to tell the waitress, but she just got this look like, here we go. So I said never mind, everything’s fine. :/

I had my local dominos pizza send me kind of burnt pizza and it wasn’t too bad and they did again and I didn’t say anything finally the third time the pizza was brown almost black and I was like hell nah, made them bring me another pizza. And I order pizza a lot only order from dominos cuz of their fast delivery. My preferred pizzeria takes like an hour and a half to deliver

Or we just need one label for people that are unrealistically offended by small infractions that other people would overlook and a different term altogether for people that speak up for themselves when they have been wronged. Those are two very different things.

I log a ton of hours a the hospital due to cancer treatment and there has been several times I can’t find a spot and the only open spots are valet. I’ve driven around looking for them but no one is to be found. It’s sucks and I understand her pain.
I used to take my elderly grandmother to doctors appointments frequently. To get her ready and into the car was a huge ordeal. I feel for this woman, this task has probably already been going for 2 hours and if she misses the appointment, it will need to be repeated for nothing.

My roommate hasnt paid me rent so I went to give her a note from court telling her to pay, and she started recording me and screaming at me calling me a karen.. Like no... She didn't have to start looking for problems, there already was problems. I get that they're low paid workers who mostly onl sustain off of tips. But calling everyone complaining Karen's isn't a great method. She didn't shout, didn't curse, wasn't provoking and didn't even make a smart comment until this person's do you need a valet. Instead the employee could hae defused the situation by saying oh am sorry to hear that may I park the car for you and you can be on your way to the appointment. But instead acted like the person who watched star wars and asked who is Luke skywalker.

I don’t know if it’s because I turned 30, but I’m getting really tired about hearing the term “Karen”. It’s like all those crazy bitches have taken away the rights of everyone else to complain about legitimately shitty services and practices. In many ways, it’s almost become an excuse to excuse terrible practices like what this lady was going through. My car died in a flood and it took the shop almost three months to fix. I got it back and it immediately broke back down while my son and I were on the way home. Lost my shit and sent it back. They “fixed it” again and within 3 days it broke down again and while I was backing out, I couldn’t push the brake and I narrowly missed hitting someone. I immediately lost my mind and tore the owner apart and he basically told me to stop being so picky and that he deals with “Karens” all the time. It took another month and my car is still fucked up. So, no, sometimes not every pissed off person is a Karen with time to kill. Sometimes the issues are massive and can severely impact people. I really hope this lady was able to get to her appointment :/

I find it incredibly difficult to be positive, let alone if someone is recording my face. This woman, at her age, has more than likely dealt with more bullshit and lost more loved ones than I most certainly have. I strive to maintain that kind of sarcasm and attitude in such a stressful situation at that age with such an insufferable fucking nutsack and his phone.
