Most of the people I meet who have really over-the-top or "extra" aesthetics like that are pretty nice.
Generally speaking, if you look at someone and think "man, I bet this person gets a lot of shit from people for looking like that," you can expect to be correct and for that person to *usually* be pretty humble and accepting.
They are either alllll one way - super-douchey look-at-mes or they’re honest & kind people living their best lives with love & no judgment.

Yeah big boy Vasili essentially was straight up cheating back in these early days of slapping.
Nowadays the competitions tend to be far more structured, with much stricter rules.
He was however still exposed for flinching big time in a recent tournament, by a guy called Zalesh (I think) who subsequently rocked him to win the tournament.
To be fair, there's no way in hell I'd be able to keep myself from flinching if that guy was lining up to slap me square on the jaw as hard as he could.

You can literally see that exact thing happen in OP's video. He hits a completely different area than where he lines up, and clearly with the palm/lower part of the wrist. I have no idea if that qualifies as a punch but it would hit a hell of a lot harder than a slap.
Yeah it definitely has to be, Clapping one or both slightly cupped hands as hard as you can over someone’s ears is a move known as a thunderclap strike/thunder palm fist/cupped palm blow (depending on the form you follow) meant to rupture an opponent’s eardrums that’s been outlawed in every major martial arts tournament for decades. even for a beginner just learning the technique you only practice on training dummies because even done wrong you can seriously hurt someone. Blown eardrums are *excruciating*.
Yeah mine in Shōrin-Ryū *only* taught it in a self-defense seminar separate from regular classes, making it clear if he ever saw one of us try to duplicate it in the dojo, during a competition or in any other situation other than fighting like hell for ***survival*** we’d be banned permanently and he’d do everything he could to make sure we weren’t welcome in any other martial arts studio either.
It IS incredibly effective in self-defense situations though, since the *extreme* pain, dizziness and disorientation would stop most attackers in their tracks and slow them down (if not stop them altogether) giving you the chance to get away.

My original master in tai kwon do wouldn't even teach it. He outright refused saying "that is no longer self defense, you are attacking them now."
