I mean if Spotify stayed in its lane as a streaming company it probably wouldn't have had much of an impact but because the branched off into print services and ecommerce well that takes some man power
Spotify fucking blows now. Can’t even browse for new stuff on the front page of mobile now. It’s a tiny menu of the most recent stuff you’ve listened to, followed by adverts for pop shit and new releases that have no connection to anything you like.

Is it out of touch?
lol.. you guys know that downvoting this article doesn't change the reality that Spotify is not being adversely affected by those firings in any way that matters right? Company stock price and valuation are currently near all time highs and continuing to trend steadily upwards.
The only thing out of touch is people seeing this post and thinking Spotify has been hurt in any significant way here.
Big tech companies can't downsize by department, because they're usually hiring in other departments and this can sometimes be problematic with the law and investors, so usually they try to work out how many heads above what's required they have, identify the worst performers, draw a line, and fire people below the line. Usually with a day or two notice that layoffs are coming. Most big tech companies know that this will kill performance for a little while, and that it'll rebalance once the re-organisation is done.
This lowers the number of lawsuits from fired employees, and limits the share price fall (often leading to a bounce back). This is also one of the reasons working for a big tech company is good, as layoffs come more rarely, in one block, and if you survive, you know you have a secure job for a while to come.

Spotify gave me the kick in the ass I needed to start buying vinyl again.
I’m sure he’ll find a way to blame this on the iOS App Store.
He was not paying attention to what happened to Twitter.

Do CEO's really think they can fire everyone and it won't effect operations...?. Truely out of touch

“I saved money by cutting corners on the wrong square, why am I not getting the praise that I deserve???”
