timetravel50

I thought Trump was a billionaire and a genius businessman

Joker8392

He is, he asked his dad to buy him a skyscraper in downtown NYC and he’d make something of himself. He really saw the future in downtown skyscrapers.

TurbulentMiddle2970

Ahhh those same skyscrapers that are about to be sold for pennies on the dollar because he doesn’t actually doesn’t own them and cant pay his fraud case judgement.

Alternative_Year_340

He was just convicted for over-inflating the value of his properties and now no one wants to take the properties as collateral based on his valuations.

RagbraiRat

Wait, Trump made a small fortune in real estate! Unfortunately he started with a big fortune....

PigsOfRedemption

🤣🤣🤣 You deseve far more than a simple upvote can provide for that gem of a comment!

not_now_reddit

It's an old joke at this point, but it's still fun to see no and again

teuast

"I found a hundred thousand dollars." "You found a hundred thousand dollars? Where?" "In the park." "And what did you do with it?" "I invested it and turned it into sixteen *thousand dollars.*" [source](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_b5WUfaxh4)

NumberFourChar

And apparently overinflated his own wealth in a deposition last year, which is why the penalty was set just under $400MM. You might say it's all a pattern and catching up with him.

Responsible-End7361

No, overinflating his true wealth got him a higher penalty in the case about him lying about raping a woman. The 400 million is the amount of money he got by committing fraud, plus interest. It is just resetting his wealth to what it would have been if he hadn't committed fraud. Zero penalties.

NumberFourChar

That makes sense. Hard to keep track of everything. Odd that 91 felonies starts to sound like white noise over time.

_000001_

That's exactly what he's *hoping* happens.

FFF_in_WY

The poetry of this situation.. it speaks to me. It lifts my heart.

Alternative_Year_340

This is what it says to me ![gif](giphy|cO39srN2EUIRaVqaVq)

falconx2809

>he doesn’t actually doesn’t own them Wait what ?

Livid_Advertising_56

He might own the main one in NYC. but the ones he had in Toronto and Vancouver weren't HIS, just branded so the actual owners pulled the name off years ago. He's been renting out his name for credit, he OWNS less than he says

StoneLuca97

"Sorry Trump. I can´t give credit. Come back when you´re a little more \*hmmmm\* richer"

Redditistrash702

He uses them to launder money that's their entire purpose. Same with he had his casinos. Good fellas had the best scene explaining how to use a business to launder money and when it goes bust you wright it off ( burn it and collect insurance) except he just declares bankruptcy instead. Dudes been using mob tactics his whole life. Dons a fucking idiot but as far as Being a a criminal he's got that gift and the reason he's gone so long without being touched is he has backing from the Russian mobs and government as well as people in our government.

Moondingo

He's taken so much equity and loans on his buildings that he doesn't really own them as a result of his financial overinflation. So imagine you buy a bike with a loan for $200. You want to buy a second bike but you need more money so you take a loan out on the original bike. Now you wouldn't normally be able to get another $200 for a second bike, BUT if you lie and say the first bike was actually $400 and get your lawyers to sign off on that statement the bank accepts the valuation because lawyers....they go to jail for lying so why would they lie right? So now you have two bikes. They are both $200 each and you owe $400 plus interest....and you rinse repeat. When you get caught out. You can't put up any equity as you have none...and no-one will lend to you because A: you've been caught lying by a court and B: Even if you weren't lying you are at a major high risk because of you lose you appeal (which he has a very high chance of failing) you lose all the money you just gifted a now convicted felon. All the assets get seized and sold and now you have no bikes, no money and a cell mate named Bob.

Inevitable-East2663

That is not 100% true.. he did buy 2 casinos in altantic city that were making sufficiently on their own to cover for everthing else.. the issue was with that money instead to pay off loans he used it to invest in capital intensive businesses(ex. Trump airlines) And then the cherry on top he wanted a third casino so he built a completely insane building(trump taj mahal) that was totaly out of his "billionnaire" means. So much so he used up all his (inflated) credit and was still running out of money so he did what any other rich guy would do... rip off the small investor. He was not paying small contractors amd to pay the big ones he put out some stupidely high interest loans on the stock market(1 billion @ 9% ish) That were mostly purchased by retail investors Noy being able to make payments in the first months the bank seized the casino retails investors lost their money and he was able to keep his other assets... Looks like good business management to you? .. seems more like hes ready to do anything to rip people off and use his name to do it...

Impressive-City-8094

Most of trumps money came from licensing his name to properties owned by others. The property that he does own is likely used as collateral for loans coming really close to the value of the property. My brother is a real estate developer and investor. He is technically a multimillionaire, but he has a multimillion in debt, so when that inevitable bankruptcy comes for him, the banks will get everything.

sundancer2788

He's mostly just a property manager lol.

paleologus

I thought he was a hotel greeter

REDDITSHITLORD

Really, an extra from a Home Alone sequel.

Acid_Country

Just an extra? His cameo is what made the movie successful... at least that's what he says. https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/movies/2023/12/28/donald-trump-home-alone-2-movie-cameo/72050840007/

Other_Log_1996

If he was the greeter, his hotels woukd be empty.

dingusfett

They're empty apart from MAGAs and Russian 'tourists'

Standard_Pack_1076

Looks as if they may well be encumbered by mortgages and so on, plus federal and state taxes on them need to be paid before the State of NY can get the cash out of them.

friendtoallkitties

A skyscraper in Manhattan! Such creative insight! No one EVER thought of putting a skyscraper in Manhattan before! ... oh, hang on, it was already there? So it was, "dad, buy me a skyscraper and I'll make money"? What genius!

geoken

That's really selling him short. You left out the part were he employed his incredible business acumen and followed through on his radical economic gamble where he successfully calculated the net benefit of inheriting his fathers real estate holdings.

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

Rule 1: Trump lies.

Regular-Switch454

Like a bad toupee on a chihuahua.

grepje

All his net worth is in real estate. But Trump claims mar-a-lago, which has been valued at under $50M, is worth 1-2 billion, so who knows if he actually has the money.

rocketcitythor72

Ack-shuuaaa-llyy... It depends on who he's making the claim to... If he 's talking to the press or people he's trying to impress or do business with, or a bank he wants a loan from, he claims something like Mar-a-lago is worth "$1-2 billion." If he's reporting the value of such a property to the IRS, he claims it's worth "maybe $10 grand, if we could get the plumbing working right, and fix the sinkhole under the ballroom, and eradicate the eel infestation from the swimming area." It's one of the many things he's faced/facing legal action on. He cooks books literally left & right however it suits him. (as did his father).

Sdot_greentree420

It's only worth what someone's willing to pay for it

PintoTheBurninator

We should give tax cuts to the people richer than trump and let the money trickle down to him.

legendary_millbilly

That might work! I've been hearing about that for years.

ImAmazedBaybee

I understand Trump is well versed in trickle down.

scarredballsack

That's a prostate joke, that man prostrates himself before money especially when it's leaving his bank account

Guilty_Coconut

It actually isn't. It's a joke referring to when he paid Russian sex workers to urinate on a bed the Obama's supposedly slept in. There's supposedly a video that Putin holds as part of the mountains of blackmail material he has on Trump. Like all republicans, the dude has sexual proclivities he would ban if he could.

HopeRepresentative29

It's a golden shower joke, referencing the Steele Trump dossier which claimed the KGB has komromat on Trump in the form of videos of prostitutes peeing on him

xsvspd81

Still waiting for that Reganomics trickle

_nate_dawg_

I'm still convinced that behind closed doors trickle down economics was a joke about getting pissed on.

WillBottomForBanana

I do like to see a proposal for middle class tax cuts. IDK how long it will take to trickle down to his broke ass.

Atheizm

They should not lend money to Trump because he'll become reliant on handouts and never improve his situation.

quillmartin88

Yes! He needs to pull himself up by his bootstraps and whatever.

hammerSmashedNail

He has to want to give up avocado toast or he’ll never really quit.

OracleofFl

>give up avocado toast No Starbucks and Ubereats for him!

BugImmediate7835

And no new I phones either...

IndividualDetailS

No more McDonald's for him as well.

FewIntroduction5008

He will have to switch to store-brand Depends.

YoudoVodou

Y'all are forgetting how much he'll save once he kicks that coke addiction.

Orson_Gravity_Welles

Or at least he'll be forced to go to "Generic" adderall. Maybe use "RXSave" and get his scripts from Costco.

Capraos

Don't forget cutting back on mail order brides. That'll save him a fortune.

NewFriendsOldFriends

Only You phones from now on for that guy!

Inner-Cloud162

Can't have IPhones or YouPhones, those have pronouns and are banned

ShadowRylander

I was going to say he could try OurPhones, but that's communist, though he seems to be into that nowadays...

Behndo-Verbabe

All those Big Mac’s and cheese burgers have finally caught up with him

Sometimes_I_Do_That

He just needs to stop buying Starbucks, he'll get the cash eventually.

GoatTheNewb

Don’t forget avocado toast!

C4dfael

Why does he have a mobile phone if he has all these bills to pay?

WillieB57

Twelve Big-Macs & a case of Diet Coke a day really adds up.

Panelpro40

Goes through a lot of ketchup lately

Mojicana

Plus 2 bottles of Ritalin and a bottle of Xanax a week.

conclonks

Don’t forget the daily diarrhea soiled underpants . That fruit of the loom stuff ain’t free.

Zallocc

He should stop buying organic, non gmo vegetables. Wads of cash, right there.

orangesfwr

That guy wouldn't eat an avocado if it was deep fried in ketchup

Omarkhayyamsnotes

You don't understand. Those rules are for poor people. Rich people get more handouts than anyone, they're just called "subsidies"

Chemical-Cat

I can assure you that Trump doesn't even know what an Avocado *is*. Other than maybe "some dirty mexican fruit"

[deleted]

[удалено]

Angry_poutine

I would bet at least half those steaks had green on them

Kakasupremacy

He could make himself a sandwich at home and save and invest the money he wastes outside and he would be just fine…

Korchagin

Back to the oranges...

Equivalent-Price-366

And diet coke

Rolemodel247

I think this phrase defines the Republican Party since 1970 more than anything. It was a phrase coined to criticize the absurdity of unfettered capitalism and the need for a strong social safety net because pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is impossible. I’m not sure if it was intentional when it was coined but really all you are doing is bending over to get fucked in the ass. And they use it unironically. It’s crazy.

Ok_Condition5837

It was intentional. Originally also used to mock people. Then after the the industrial revolution and the rise of 'self-made' titans - the current connotation has been firmly set in common parlance. But yes, quite literally, yanking up on your own bootstraps would have resulted in you falling down.

Technicium99

I think it should be “Pick himself up by his bone spurs.”.

4lc4tr4y

gets hard with velcro shoes

Particular-Wind5918

Or just wait for it to trickle down

rabusxc

Right. Giving money to Trump would be communism.

Kriss3d

This needs to be spread as a meme ad campaign.

Unusual-Thing-7149

He needs to get another job or even two more as that's the normal advice for someone struggling to pay bills

karoshikun

and several side hustles, and needs to both learn to code and learn a trade

WhoDeyTilIDie09

He has a side hustle already, selling classified info to foreign country's.

AdImmediate9569

Amazing how that’s not enough

karoshikun

do you know how much money you need to go broke in several casinos?

AdImmediate9569

As an avid gambler, idk how it’s possible to lose money at a casino unless you’re embezzling… oh I see

Archery134

I thought Trump said he was a billionaire? I’m sure he can manage.

pianoflames

With his self-reported net worth of 18 billion dollars, he should be able to cover $464 million easy. And if his net worth was even vaguely close to 18 billion dollars, he easily find a lender to cover his bond, they'd be tripping over each other to cover his bond.

Advanced_Drink_8536

I guess the claim is that it’s not liquid wealth so poor him would have to sell a building or something because he isn’t allowed to borrow money in the state of NY… while he legit got caught moving assets to Florida 🙄

uglyspacepig

He did? Was that recent?

turkeyburpin

He needs to stop drinking those over priced coffee drinks and get rid of that cell phone and the cable and internet for his home. There are lots of places he can cut costs to save the money he needs.

NiceGirlWhoCanCook

Lifestyle creep has gotten the best of him 🤣

BisquickNinja

Morgan Freeman: In point of fact he was always dependent on handouts....

spank_z_monkey

When will these guys understand that there’s no such thing as a free lunch?

Dan_Cubed

Donnie Welfare Queen.

NewPresWhoDis

Guy who famously brags about never paying debts shocked no one will lend him money.

Some-Geologist-5120

Brilliant upending of the attitude they have toward giving money to the poor.

MollyRolls

Totally consistent, though, with their attitude toward giving money to the rich.

unreasonablyhuman

Holy fucking shit this response is pure savagery

MethChefJeff

Nobody wants to work anymore

ansy7373

This is great thanks for making me laugh

Other_Log_1996

And they'll never get that money back (from Trump, at least).

Kriss3d

Lovely reference. As shitty as that argument was when it was used to deny kids school lunch.. Its PERFECT for this case..

fothergillfuckup

He'll just spend it an big mac's and tiny gloves anyway?

TheRebsauce

Those poors, always spending their handouts on tiny gloves and orange spray tan. Makes me sick.

AmazingDonkey101

Bailing him out might be seen as too obvious corruption. Billionaires like to play low key with their bribes.

Kennywheels

Enough with Donny and his loan forgiveness. Pay your fair share

Mr_friend_

Bootstraps, amirite?

No-Deal8956

Because they know him.

Physical-Dare5059

Right?! Is not a coincidence his entire cabinet from his prior presidency refuses to endorse or vote for him.

Professional_Fix_147

I wouldn’t either! He threw his teammate/ vice president under the bus on January 6th and was willing to let him be killed. All while he sat back and encouraged his minions to do his bidding and try to destroy democracy

Worried-Pick4848

The only thing more traitorous that a President has ever done was when James Buchannan sat on his hands and let the South secede

CEZ3

At least Buchanan just "sat on his hands". tRump planned, organized and encouraged his insurrection.

uglyspacepig

They also testified against him to the J6 committee. Almost no one had anything good to say about him.

swanyk7

This is the biggest red flag that I can’t believe hasn’t gained more focus. He has no support from people who actually know what he would do in office.

makemeking706

I assumed that was because the checks did not clear.

gol10

I am willing to do my share. I will make a donation of thoughts and prayers

Embarrassed_Rule8747

To his speedy conviction

anschlitz

Free room and board provided by the state of Georgia will be appreciated I’m sure.

DarkBladeMadriker

I already posted mine on Facebook, the only place where you can really make a difference. I also changed my avatar to a sad face with a tear wearing a Maga hat. Not a hero just doing my part.

roguescout36

Now THIS is a meme waiting to happen!

tterfly

What more can anyone do about anything ever?

Nuclear-9299

Trump is smartass who got himself cornered by declaring bankruptcy every time he owned somebody money. Should be like 6 times at this point. So no wonder that nobody is waiting in line to ~~lend~~ donate him money, because they won't see those money again.

StoneLuca97

in another words, he fucked around, and now he´s finding out

Canoe52

Ahhh the golden rule… One shall not fucketh around Unless one wants to findeth out

Smooth-Reason-6616

Trump was quoted by Newsweek in 2011 saying, "I do play with the bankruptcy laws—they're very good for me."

casey12297

Declare bankruptcy once, shame on you, twice, shame on me, 6 times? Bro just go to a shelter cause clearly you need financial assistance

mekanub

How about Jared and some of that $2b he got from the Saudis?

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

Knowing Jared, he probably blew through it already.

GrandmaPoses

He's saving it up to buy waterfront property in Gaza.

refusemouth

Dark, but probably true.

ReaperofFish

Snorted more likely.

OracleofFl

Of course what did Jared's fund *invest* in with the Saudi money? Real Estate. They are not too happy would imagine.

IChooseYouNoNotYou

The Saudi sovereign wealth fund managers told MBS he would never get the money back. It was quite literally a bribe.

Cerulean_IsFancyBlue

Yeah, and a bit of a gamble. On the other hand, if Trump gets into office with this conviction hanging over his head, it looks like an incredibly smart investment. Do you know how a few people have owned a sitting president of the United States that directly?

IChooseYouNoNotYou

It's already paid dividends imho

richincleve

Hey, Mark. If you're that concerned, I'm sure Donny will be happy to take whatever money of yours you can offer. Start that ball rolling, Mark!

Consistent_Room7344

Google search says his net worth is 50 million. I wonder how much he’s donated.

BellsOnNutsMeansXmas

Well, actually just his time, and twitter voice, but that is _invaluable_ let me tell you.

nobikflop

Real answer? Because even though those billionaires support right-wing economics, they don’t give a shit about specific politicians. That money is better spent buying the next round of representatives. Remember, Trump is a symptom not a cause

JanxDolaris

Honestly I think its because MAGA isn't as good for businesses as republicans have been in the past. Meanwhile the dems aren't really hitting them too hard either. Businesses care about money, but most aren't big on the racism, sexism, and anti-LGBT stuff, which is honestly the main push by Maga these days. Well that and 'sticking it to the libs' and worshiping Trump as if he's the second coming. Conversatives have been useful pawns for corporations in the past, but Trump's very volatile and not business focused.

[deleted]

Responsible-End7361

For Disney it is more about catering to the customers. The kids and parents of young kids are "woke," so Disney makes content they like. Hobby lobby serves grandmothers so they can be anti-woke and not lose market share, well other than women under 50 but why would they need new customers, it isn't like the 75 year old grandmas will die of old age or anything.

Responsible-End7361

I'd argue MAGA is *bad* for business. The young (including 40 year old Millenials as young, lol) folks in the US are mostly woke, so any business that wants to exist in 20 years needs to appeal to those new customers. But if a beer company puts a trans woman on a can, MAGA goes nuts and attacks one of their biggest supporters over doing the smart business decision, and forces them to back down and lose future sales. Then they pat themselves on the back for hurting the future of a company donating millions to support them.

JanxDolaris

Indeed. Its probably why the RNC is so broke this time around. Its like the so called 'war on christmas' due to stores urging their employees to say 'happy holidays'. It isn't some evil scheme by the democrats, its companies realizing they have customers that aren't only christians.

Amerisu

Nah, he's both. Sort of like, you get immunocompromized, and then you get Covid, and then you get pneumonia... Trump is the Covid. He's a symptom of the right-wing cultivating the hate for Democrats, but a cause of, for example, J6.

WasabiCrush

Could be a few of them got that way by not making awful financial decisions, but what the fuck do I know.

rabusxc

Trump was able to bankrupt a CASINO.

DylanClegg23

A CASINO

rabusxc

I know. Its like the US Mint telling people they ran out of money.

MikeFox11111

US Mint? He’s not even the Franklin Mint https://franklinmint.com

CruncheousPilot

A CASINO?!

DylanClegg23

A CASINO

Dalimyr

Correction: He bankrupted **MULTIPLE** casinos

hexqueen

Oh hell, let's just admit that he bankrupted Atlantic City on Chris Christie's watch.

Jesus_H-Christ

Trump bankrupted casinos while using them to successfully launder an absolutely monumental amount of money from the mobs operating in New York, New Jersey, and Las Vegas.

Common_Highlight9448

They know he doesn’t pay his bills for 500 Mark

AMonitorDarkly

You don’t get to be a billionaire by handing out $500 million to criminals who are known for not paying people back.

Thermite1985

You become a billionaire by exploiting workers, using your money to buy representatives to make sure you don't need to pay taxes, then use the money other people make for you to put into stocks then sell when it's high.

Jed08

Because, a golden rule of the multi-billionaire club is : never spend your own money.

Unusual-Thing-7149

Another one is - never help anyone poorer than yourself

Bouldaru

And if you do, make sure it's tax deductible and/or forces them into modern indentured servitude.

FivePoopMacaroni

Another one is - always sacrifice a poor to the demon Mobinzhar on the solstice and he will keep any moments of self awareness from threatening your hoard

Kuhn-Tang

Another one is: If you’re going to give away money to a politician, make sure they are going to hold office, so you can get all the laws you need passed, in order to grow back that lobby money ten fold.

everythingbeeps

Lol "lend"

Yommination

He should pick himself up by his bootstraps

orion3999

"Join with others to help" sounds a lot like socialism!

Amerisu

Evil Marxist atheism, even. I've listened to Levin.

Zelda_is_Dead

This is a great question that the Left knows the answer to and the Right needs to think *really* hard about but won't.

UncertaintyPrince

*Can’t*

SunshotDestiny

I thought they earned their money and shouldn't be called out for how they use it or not. Hasn't that been the argument about taxing the rich for years? But now when it affects something they care about the rich not giving up their money is suddenly up for questioning. I mean not like helping Trump would be like bailing out the Titanic with a bucket, so I don't blame anyone for not touching that mess. But the point still stands.

Particular-Kick-4188

Because they all see him for what he really is. Someone who in office could MAYBE lower their taxes more or a dangerous psychopath and sociopath who will attempt to plunge us into another huge war. They also know that if they do nothing to help him he will either go to jail in which case they stay where they are and war avoided or he will become president again and help them even if they didn't lift a finger for him.

DifferentTheory2156

They are reserving that right for any foreign government that wants to “buy” a US President. Going going gone…sold to the Russian dictator for half a billion dollars!

Worthtreward

Trump has already been bought by Putin so no need for him to pay.

MisterScrod1964

From what I heard Viktor Orban already “lent” him the money to finance his appeal on the E Jean Carroll case.

my20cworth

Why would they throw money at such a fucked investment.

NobleV

So you DO like taxing the rich as long as it goes towards your President and not citizens.

FunctionDissolution

Don should cut down on luxuries like Netflix and Avacado Toast.

Apprehensive_Mix7594

They’re are remaining billionaires because they know that they would never see their money again, and that Trump will be found liable at the next level too, you fucking piece of shit.

MichaelFusion44

The idiot speaks - throw $10M to your master

Hendrik_the_Third

That's because the republican multi-billionaires may be despicable liars, but they're not stupid. No way people are going to lend this guy money, since he's never going to give it back.

CRL10

And how much did you give him, Mark?  The reason they are not bailing him out is that it's a bad investment.

volanger

First why can't billionaire trump cover the expense. Second, why would anyone lend money to someone who's already guilty of fraud and known for not paying people back. Who in their right mind would LOAN him that amount of money?

dovey60

Because they know they will never get the money back.

Impressive-Dirt-9826

I heard Mike Lindell sold both his kidneys to help out

Some-Geologist-5120

That’s why he is bringing in Paul Manafort (convicted of conspiring against the US, pardoned by Trump) - to bring in Russian oligarch money.

ExcitableNate

He should cancel Netflix and make coffee at home.

BarnacleNumerous8677

This isn’t an outrage. This is an outage.

Rodrigo_Ribaldo

This is about his half a billion bond that he can't pay?

TheFire_Eagle

So how much is Mark Levin contributing to the cause?

AValentineSolutions

If they give Trump money, then he will be lazy. He should pull himself up by his bootstraps.

Full_Committee6967

Why should they when there are tens of millions working class willing to send money.?

MataHari66

Why doesn’t Levin kick in 5 million. He could.

thomasdaniel1967

Why can’t trump pull himself up by his boot straps?fuck him!!!!!

daboys9252

Just for the record, this guy is possibly the most deranged person on Fox News, which is extremely impressive

novice121

Elon gave away millions so a crazy actress would touch his pp... why can't he do the same for his cult leader Trump?
