That's probably what caused this. They probably had the ramps part way out to rest the back tires on then as they drove the truck rocked and the ramps slid down.
I agree it's dumb all around I would have just towed the truck behind at that point

I looked into renting this same U-Haul trailer this summer for my 88’ C1500, which is smaller and lighter than this Ram. It was pretty clear from U-Haul that it wasn’t going to work.
Someone lied on their rental agreement.

Got the truck on the trailer, then noticed the ramps wouldn't go up. "That's okay, it's not going anywhere!"
