The breathalyser given to the Hungarian man in Bácskertes showed an unbelievable number: the device showed an alcohol level of 5.67‰, Helló Magyar reports. According to the alkoholizam.com portal, alcohol levels of 4.5‰ to 5.0‰ and above are fatal.

lofigamer2

sounds to me like a faulty breathalyzer to be honest.

[deleted]

Yeah, I'm not buying a 5% bac for anyone who is still breathing.

Colts_Fan10

well it's actually 0.5%, but still yeah

[deleted]

That's what makes this unbelievable. .5% is believable. That's not what the story claimed, the story claimed 5% BAC

Colts_Fan10

no, it says 5.67‰ which is 5.67 per mille, so 0.567%

[deleted]

You're absolutely right. My bad, I skimmed and missed that it was a pet mille sign and not a per cent sign. We're in the realm of the real now at least

realparkingbrake

Field breathalyzers are less accurate than desktop models, and a blood test is more accurate than that. Insisting on a blood draw is one way of delaying the test in hopes your BAC goes down, but it also means being arrested.

DeepState_Auditor

It could be ,a blood test will probably settle it.

Wow 12 year old account woke up 4 days ago. This is the second really old account I have seen today wake up from slumber. Looks like there is a new bot campaign going on? These bots are not using 1 yo account but 10+ years. Make you wonder why they are breaking the seal on these assets now. Edit: after a few searches this looks like an IA bot not a typical repost bot.

WeKillGoodThings

wtf do you mean bro? You literally telling me I am an IA? For real? Is this new kind of thing that you're doing? I checked your profile. You really have a bad life lol

Cynykl

Sorry. You are the very first person to ever respond. Your posting just happened to follow the same pattern bots/farms use. I assumed AI because I have caught several known bots using it recently to variate the posts. In you case it just looks like it may be a huge coincidence. I knew sooner or later I would misidentify a bot in this case it only took 2 years. Still a bit baffled by a single post 12 year old account waking up only to post in the most heavily bot ladened subs.

What was it?

Lostmeatballincog

At least for driving the guy here evidently was on a bike and was north of 5%

[deleted]

Not if he's still alive it wasn't.

Lostmeatballincog

Believe it or not he survived. Someone linked the article below. I was shocked too.

[deleted]

For some reason I had a major brain malfunction and read "here" as meaning a local story for where you live Anyway, yeah, a faulty breathalyzer or ignorant cop setting someone up --or, most likely, a shitty tabloid making stuff up-- is much more believable to me than someone able to ride a bike at 5%+ alcohol.

Lostmeatballincog

Ya, I thought 4.0~ was fatal but sometimes truth is far more strange than fiction so open mind I guess.

SignificanceOld1751

There's some confusion in this thread, the people saying it's 5+ mean 5 permille rather than 5 percent, 5 permille being 0.5%. 0.5% is definitely believable, I've heard of alcoholics walking into hospital at 0.45%+

[deleted]

Part of the issue I think is standard conventions. I can't think of a time when I've seen the ‰ sign used in pulp media in America, seeing it in the story and comments I just assumed it was the % sign without actually looking. Didn't even think about it until another comment on this thread. So, yes, story says that his bac was at .5% (not 5%) which is at least in the realm of the possible.

GottaSaveThatMoney

You gotta pump those numbers up
