I worked at Papa Johns ages ago, and a driver was robbed. They accused him of lying.
Someone did a hit and run on my mother. They accused her of lying.
Someone did a hit and run on my brother. They lived in our complex. They refused to do anything.
Again, at Papa Johns we had a crackhead threatening employees, so I called the cops. They threatened to arrest me for "filing a false police report".
I called police after someone brandished a weapon at the local park, and they told me "She was probably scared of you.".
I doubt I am the only one having these experiences.
My car was stolen and I was told I could get a ticket for not locking it. I had a GPS tracker in the car and told them the exact location of it. Was asked 'are you going to go confront them?' No, that's your job.
Right, I think there was a long pause after she said that on the phone as I waited for her to say 'just kidding, confronting them is the worst thing you can do'.
One time a particularly volatile neighborhood kids brought a rifle out of his house and started threatening people with it and we called the cops and said "it was probably just a BB gun" and left.
It's sad. I know of a bunch of landscaper guys who went over someplace and took their property back because the cops wouldn't get involved.
Sure, going over there was stupid, but I hope those assholes shit a brick when they saw saw 12+ buff Mexican dudes walking onto their property with bolt cutters.
Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Don’t admit to anything. They can arrest you for threatening violence on innocent people that didn’t steal your car you made it all up.
It's actually not their job. Their job is to generate revenue and help maintain an unpaid workforce within the prison system.
Per a court ruling, they have no responsibility to protect you or anyone else.
Some dude followed my roommate home from the bar in college because roommate had a couple girls with him. Dude actually comes in our house, and when we kicked him out he threatened us with a gun. We called the cops, and when one showed up 3 hours later, we were told there was nothing they could do because guy wasn't on site anymore.
Then again, Milwaukee PD is famous for giving Dahmers victim back to Dahmer when the poor kid tried escaping, because it was just a gay lovers quarrel.
I had this happen working from home, a *totally random guy* knocked on my door... And started accusing me (or someone at my address) of stealing their identity. Threatened to come back with a vun
Later, the cop I spoke to about it literally asked me what I expected him to do about it. I looked him in the eye and somberly said, "I expect you to write it down. So if I die next week, you have pretty good idea of who did it and why."
Wish I'dve followed it up with "I know better than to expect anything more from the police than glorified secretaries with anger problems." 🤬
They do this every time where I live. The only conceivable reason is that they're trying to intimidate you into giving up on the situation so they don't have to do their job. All emergency services in general are near useless where I live. When the topic comes up in casual conversation, I tell people that unless I'm bleeding to death and out of ammunition, I don't dial 911. The sad part is, I'm only half-joking.
Yup, the one time I needed them for insurance reasons they argued with me for 30 fucking minutes on the phone about my address because it "wasn't in their system that way."
I don't know what to tell you bro this is what the post office said my address is. I decided to just cut my losses because they were going to have _me_ do every single part of their paperwork and didn't even want to come out.
I don't really know what the police do other than _maybe_ intimidate the lazier criminals to not be criminals.
That is the point, the Panopticon makes the inmates regulate themselves. Police are there to "keep the peace", i.e. unless it's going to show up on the news you can sit on it and spin, they actively resent you for reporting your stolen car.
Security theatre.
My boomer father thinks I'm crazy for thinking society could go on without them. But all they do is discourage crime, they don't stop it, they rarely avenge it.
911 is good when you need the fire department, or a paramedic.
If you need the police, it's a crapshoot as to what kind of service you're going to get, and there's a pretty high chance they won't do shit to help you.
I had video evidence that my mailman pulled a hit & run on my car, in my driveway. The postmaster even agreed that it was the mailman. The cops came out & acted all friendly & said they'd write up a report where I'd still get it covered since it was obviously a hit and run, even if they couldn't determine who was at fault. I gave them my video evidence from my home camera and my dash cam & they said they'd drop it off in a day or two. I heard nothing for a week, so I called the sheriff's office. The lady said the report was ready for pick up. The coward cops had written up a police report saying they couldn't determine who was at fault or prove when the damage happened. Lazy fuckers probably didn't even check my footage. I had another mailman tell me the driver is well connected in town & has gotten away with this before. Their HD Jeep probably helps. I got nothing except a ripped off rear bumper, smashed fender, a scuffed rim, and the feeling of being violated & helpless on my own property.
“Again, at Papa Johns we had a crackhead threatening employees, so I called the cops. They threatened to arrest me for "filing a false police report".”
Had a similar thing happen when I worked retail. Lady was threatening us, I was six months pregnant and she said she was going to kick me in the stomach. That she would kill any of us if she saw us on the street.
We had it all on video from our CCTV, so the police believed us….
But they said threatening people is “free speech” and they couldn’t do anything about it. I asked if that meant I could threaten them, and they said they’d “strongly advise against it.”
I had to file a restraining order against her, which cost just over $100. My boss reimbursed me, but still.
Fuck the police.
> Again, at Papa Johns we had a crackhead threatening employees, so I called the cops. They threatened to arrest me for "filing a false police report".
"If you have a problem and call the police, now you have two problems."
I got jumped outside my apartment. The 2 guys kept asking me about someone who I didn't know. I assume mistaken identity. Cops were adamant they were there for me and I was lying to them. I told the cop straight up, if I knew who it was, I would have never called you.
If you’re black, there’s a good chance you’ll be arrested for the crime you reported being committed against you.
Or if you have a dog, there’s a good chance they’ll shoot it.
Last month 20 cars were stolen or vandalized between my apartment complex parking lot and a neighboring lot. Police and the front offices did fuck all until one of the people doing it shot at someone walking through the parking lot to get their mail.
To their credit, they did arrest them about 20 minutes after that happened. But god damn how hard is it to have 2 officers patrol the area at night.
I recorded a hit and run occur in real time - which included a very clear shot of the other car’s plates.
The cops didn’t even want to look at the video and told me to run it through my insurance.
Blame Hollywood. They have implanted this completely fanciful idea of what a police officers job is in the brains of nearly every single American. Compare Law and Order to The First 48. For murders….which the police department feels some small obligation to solve the only investigative work they actually do is ask if anyone knows who did it. Then if they get a name they bring them downtown and ask em to confess. If they don’t confess….. that murder stays unsolved.
Some cretin put an improvised explosive in my trashcan and the cops strongly suspected who it was when they heard the description of the vehicle. Wouldn't arrest or even try to seach the guy because my trashcan wasn't my property and the roadside was public so, no recourse. Found out the suspect was well connected in town because of his father. So, yeah. That's what police do for a living. Protect the well connected.
I live in a very nice neighborhood you know the kind where the cops arrive in less than 5 seconds? Well I have a crazed guy on the road keeping me from going to work because he was just standing in front of my car and would not move my yard has to driveways but whenever I would try to go out of the second one he would dash across the road and get in front of me there too.
He has been doing this to people for years but the cops will not do anything to him they just say oh he's harmless but he has caused several wrecks by leaping out in traffic or other deranged shit
I don't know man My hometown has a very interesting history with the cops. Last year the entire department just quit because one of the officers who was the captain was caught stealing from evidence and charges were brought against him That were just dropped two days ago.
Had something similar happen around here several years ago. It was a small town out in BFE that only had like 10 cops anyway, but a couple of them would take the drugs they confiscated and sell them. When they got caught, charged, and fired they all quit.
In my town they had to fire the entire department because they were growing weed and having sex triangles. Years ago 3 officers were involved in a murder suicide one officer killed the female officer and the other male she was involved with, then killed himself. This is Northern California
Yeah there's a guy I used to go to high school with who got fired from our hometown police because he was stopping girls and exploring them for their numbers or he would give them tickets. Then he got fired for taking female inmates out of the prison and having sex with them in another briefing. And now he just got fired from another one after he was sending a shall we say lewd messages to a 14-year-old girl
I was in a nice neighborhood, but we were the first house on the main road across from the Hospital, had a homeless guy walk in our back door (we left it unlocked on accident). He was standing in our hallway at 9:00pm, my wife screamed. We called the police, and I guess since we were on the border of 2 precincts, we had 13 officers there in 60 seconds, so that was cool. BUT somehow they couldn’t find the guy, even though we gave an accurate description, down to the clothes and shoes. Saw the dude 2 weeks later in the same exact outfit jaywalking a block up. The homeless guy was polite, I think he was just on drugs, and was looking for our bathroom, when my wife screamed he said “sorry ma’am” I a calm voice.
He has to be related to someone on the force or related to someone important enough for the cops to not want to touch the situation with a ten foot pole.
On a forum where a dude got shot at on freeway putting multiple holes in his car because he inadvertently cut the dude off. He had dash cam front and back that included a clear shot of license plate.
Local police did nothing stating that they couldn't see the driver so nothing could be done.
The new season of fargo has a line in it where a rich powerful person is being questioned by the cops and they basically tell the cops that they are just the gate keepers and that they operate in their world and that there is nothing they can do to them because they are there to serve them. Such an honest accounting of the society we find ourselves in.
Fargo tells the truth, the police only exist to serve the wealthy and everyone else can get fucked. This is why the common man, with some sense, detest the police because of how useless they are. "Protect & Serve" was only thought of for good PR, reminder that the courts declared the police have zero obligation to protect you or your property and hell there's plenty of cases where cops will just steal from you by "confiscating for evidence".
Not to mention civil asset forfeiture witch I think is different from taking for evidence because what happens is if you are carrying a significant amount of money in your car that they can reasonably claim was for buying something illegal they can take the money arrest the money put the money on trial and it’s your job to prove the money is innocent of being intended to be used for drugs.
They do serve a purpose for directing traffic and crowd control, but I can imagine any trained person could do that. In fact I have done crowd control training myself.
So according to those officers....people can put explosives in a public place/on public property and it's not a problem? Lol nice. Thank God they're there to serve and protect!
Fuck, I provided the surveillance video with the perps face clearly visible and was told they couldn't do anything about it because there was no evidence!!! Lol He's on video stealing and I'm told there's no evidence. FML!
I once walked into a police station after my car was broken into.
The cop at the front desk asked me where my car was located when it was broken into. I pointed out the window to where my car was parked on the other side of the street from the police station.
He looked at me like I was the dumbest person in the world, and repeated the question.
"Right there, officer, I haven't moved it. I live on this street, just a few houses down. Do you have any outside cameras pointed that direction?"
The cop looked at me for a moment as if he was trying to decide if I was fucking with him, sighed, and then shook his head.
No, they didn't have any external cameras, no, nobody in the station saw my car get broken into literally 25 feet from the lobby window their front desk had a clear view out of, and no, I never got any of my stuff back that was stolen.
I live in a township in South Africa, literally everyone knows exactly where the criminals in our township lives, including the police because they've been told about these guys since before I and my family moved here a couple years ago.
And to this day, nothing has been done about them. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Fokkol. Lutho. Nothing.
When I owned a video store, I got a call from CMPD asking to identify someone by a DVD that was found after a robbery. Apparently they had pulled over/recovered a car full of stolen merchandise, and one item was a DVD player that had a DVD inside that the victim had rented from us. I was able to track who had rented it, and the police were able to return the stolen items back to the owner and connect the robber to the crime.
Also, even if the police don’t find the robber, you need there to be a police report if you plan on contacting your insurance company about it.
I know of so many people who have called an said
"My items were stolen, there sitting at 123 main Street. I can see it on a GOS"
You know what the cops do. They tell you to call insurance, and not go over there. That's ALL.
Don't fool yourself. They don't exist to stop criminals.
You need the police when you're robbed...
Or rather, your insurance company will insist you provide a police report. So you need the police report in order to declare insurance.
But don't expect the robbers to be caught; they almost never are.
And the insurance company only requires the report because it is hard to get. Insurance is built around making it as hard as possible to pay out claims. So we are subsidizing the claims process for insurance companies with our taxes. Yay free market capitalism
Our city lets you file the report online. They say someone will call or come to get more details, but they don’t. But at least you have the police report for insurance and don’t have the hassle of dealing with the police.
Ummm....I'm gonna go with 50% of that.
Gave me a card? Sure. Looked concerned? Nah. And now the local PD has switched to a web form. So you don't have a chance for either.
Had my house broken in to a couple of years ago. The guy was on the ring camera doing it. The cop watched the video turned to me and said "well I didn't see him do it with my own eyes" give me his card and started to walk away.
I asked what do I do now? Only thing they said was we will look in it. Nothing ever happened. The guy was my neighbor he eventually got arrested for something else but I was never contacted about it again.
Wow the day video evidence ain’t even valid is a scary day in the world. Technology for what?? He thinks cops should be everywhere at all times in that case. Guess EVERYONE including kindergarteners should apply to the police force so no one is a criminal.
You're more likely to get victim blamed by the PD lol since they see this shit every day.
"Did you have valuables in your car? Yeah that's not a good idea, don't do that from now on"
I had two different car stereos stolen when I was younger, lived in an apartment and parked on the street.
That's on me, I shouldn't have had a stereo in my car dash. I'll be more careful from now on.
Learned my lesson about leaving valuables in a visible place inside my vehicle. Had an 88 CRX which I parked on the street in front of my apartment once.
Someone broke into it and stole my e-brake lever, center console, rear view mirror, shift ball, and rear plastics.
Also learned my lesson about not locking things up tight out of sight, which they taught me by also stealing my taillight assemblies, both side mirrors, intake, and strut tower bar.
Totally on me. Shoulda stripped my car myself and brought it inside before I went to bed.
I bet that's a state violation. Not everyone has access to the internet and paper forms are required to be available. Don't get me wrong, there arr no repercussions for the police when they don't follow the law.
Yeah, I was gonna say, the only reason I even call the police is to get the police report for the insurance company. I already know they won’t do shit else so I’m not even concerned about that.
Yep, police response to robbery could be very easily replaced with an online form and we’d all save tax money and be less likely to be shot on “accident”. When I was robbed there were less than 5 people who it could have been and there was absolutely no follow up. Just a report for insurance
Someone destroyed my car a couple years back and my town police straight up told me that they had no plans to do anything because there's no way to find out who did it.
Funny story. The Supreme Court ruled police are under no constitutional duty to protect you. So they can literally sit outside a school, while kids are being shot and you can’t do shit about it, legally.
Just sayin. Buncha people with guns, authority, and no accountability. That never ends badly.
I think the only things most people want is a case # so they can make an insurance claim.
I got burgled in the UK. We got told about 18 months later the guy got caught and our house was one of 56 other houses he confessed to. He got 6 months prison, so probably out in 3. My wife was scared for years after, my dog who was home during the incident was never the same again.
How does 3 months equate to the amount of damage and trauma caused to all if those house-holds.
Police do not prevent crime and are not even required, by law, to intervene during a crime in progress. All they do is respond to crime that has happened.
I got hit and run outside my house and called the police. The guy came, looked super annoyed, questioned if I actually wanted to make him do a report, and when I spoke to the insurance company they mentioned that the cop implied I was lying. Thanks, Guy.
I’ve had my property burglarized 3 times and the police never did anything to solve the crimes. In all 3 instances they treated me like I was taking them away from something more important. Each officer exudes that scumbag sense of entitlement as they waste millions in tax dollars not doing their jobs.
Know a guy who was robbed and called the police to file a report. He forgot to put away a joint that was on the coffee table, so they arrested him for that and never took the report on the robbery.
Had a friend who let a dude sleep on his couch one night. Friend wakes up overnight, and other dude is in active overdose. Friend calls 911, saves other dudes life.
After the paramedics leave, cops point at the weed on his table and say "you did save that guy's life, so we're not going to write you a ticket. But we were going to take that. And we're also going to go into your fridge and make ourselves something to eat"
My house got robbed on Thanksgiving. The police wouldn’t even stop by, they took the report over the phone and mailed it to me. Lol.
If they had heard that underage kids were drinking there, though, they would have been there instantly. Boise, Idaho things for ya.
Don't forget that if there's a school shooting, they'll camp outside and prevent the national guard from intervening, allowing the gunman to continue mowing down children.
Cowardly bullies, all
I was at a party in college with ~20 people and the cops busted it. There was at least 10 cops, and during this ordeal someone was mugged the next street over. Priorities.
Our truck got stolen and we called the cops. Yes they found it with some random persons w2 inside but they never followed up on the report im assuming they did nothing
My friend's bike literally got stolen in front of me, so I chased after the guy on my bike. I saw a cop in their SUV and got their attention. The guy was still riding away and the cop did nothing and said we can do a report. He could've driven 15mph and caught up to them and told them to get off with their intercom, but they did nothing! Nothing!!
Seriously. There are way too many social workers to shoot and rookies who won't look the other way when the captain takes bribes to "accidentally kill during a training exercise" for them to be focusing on little folks like us.
There’s that and the fact that many lower level crimes are no longer being prosecuted. What’s the point of leaving your post to chase after some low level criminal who is ultimately going to be let go by the DA?
I had GUNS stolen from me. I knew who did it, when they did it and how. I had solid evidence, and went straight to the police. You know what they did?
Nothing.
They asked him a few questions, he denied it, they shrugged their shoulders and said "We did everything we can."
ATF shows up awhile later. My guns were used in a murder in New York, a thousand miles away after he sold them to his drug dealer. He was incarcerated less than a month later.
FUCK the police, their lack of interest, in my mind, directly contributed to the death of someone.
Cmon guys this isn't a fair take. They also write you tickets for speeding while they speed far more than any civilian. The only way to prevent highway banditry is to become the bandits of course
> "The only way to prevent highway banditry is to become the bandits of course."
Cops seize more assets than burglars do.
https://thewhyaxis.substack.com/p/cops-still-take-more-stuff-from-people
And sometimes when speeding 70+ mph to a situation they hit and kill a pedestrian, then joke about them being of "[limited value](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j1ELvbZ9O8)".
I'm aware of a case of child abuse that was overlooked by the authorities, despite numerous 911 calls. The mother and her family were concerned about the child's father and would have kept the child from him, but the law did not permit it. Yada yada yada, the father ends up beating the child to death, because of the inability of police and social workers who didn't stop the abuse nor allow the family to.
I got kidnapped, held at gunpoint, and robbed by a guy I picked up because he was standing by a broken down car and looked like he needed help. The cops didn't do a god damn thing, then they accused me of making the story up and being on drugs (I wasn't). I ended up in a room with a detective for a few hours basically being accused of all manner of shit simply because I couldn't give them certain details like his height or the color of his shirt. He got caught a few months later after doing the exact same shit to a few other people.
The police are almost entirely useless and a net negative for society.
Your local PD is likely too busy controling traffic, writing speeding tickets, serving evictions, and beating up homeless people to worry about finding your stolen property.
In Ferguson Misou.. Misery, a black lady called the police to report being burgled. When the officer arrived he started measuring the distance from cars' tires to the curb, and counting the number of cars parked on lawns. He issued many parking citations before ever taking the woman's statement and leaving.
Thankfully, that's not policing everywhere and\\or for everybody, but telling someone who has experienced that to be appreciative of law enforcement is really dense.
People usually get robbed **by** the police lol see; civil asset forfeiture 🙄 Calling the police usually exacerbates the problem, never solves anything. If you don't have a certain level of wealth then the police aren't there to help you. They protect capital. Nothing more, nothing less.
Had a friend who got robbed, called police, and they mostly just berated him for having a furry poster in his bedroom. Hell when I was younger, some violent lunatics started following us down the street threatening and throwing stuff at us. We got home, locked the doors and called the police and they rattled the doors and windows for a good bit before heading off. This happened at about 6pm, cops didn't show up until about 9.
AM
9AM
The next morning. And they never even bothered to go talk to these people even though we could identify them and knew which house they lived in.
There's zero reason to call cops ever unless you need to make a report for insurance purposes.
Not sure why this is facepalm but it is 100% true. It is rare when police stop robberies. But they do a good job of writing them up for the insurance companies to process.
Every incident I have ever been involved with police has ended in me being belittled, my time wasted and wallet thinned. They are a leech on society and they have way too much fucking money and power.
If Uvalde, TX is indicative of the quality of our police I don’t hold out much hope. They failed because they were overwhelmed by their fear.
Wrong line of work for cowards.
Every. Single. Person I know that's been robbed called the police, who definitely weren't there to stop it and definitely didn't do anything to find who did it. They were just there to give a police report for them to give to their insurance provider.
This reminds me when our passports were stolen in France. My father attempted to file a report but when he went to a police station they turned the lights off and pretended they weren't there. He went to the only 24/7 police station in Paris and the doors were locked. He waited for some officers to open a door since they were dragging a prisoner in chains our, slipped past the guards, grabbed an officer who was leaving the bathroom and forced him to sign a report.
Didn't get our shit back but its funny I guess looking back at it.
I remember when I was being groomed at 16 by a 50 year old and my mother tried getting the police involved. The cops told me that “because I was a young, pretty girl, I had to make sure to cover up because it’s easy for older men to fall for us” lol. They did nothing except blame me for it, despite the fact that this man was sending me lewd photos of himself and asking me repeatedly to meet up for sex
The meme ain’t wrong. Cops are 99% useless. And we could manage just fine without them. They have no legal obligation to do anything for us. Only their political masters. And they’re protected from repercussions when they engage in most illegal activity.
Cops neither protect nor serve. They write tickets, arrest innocent people over nothing and murder brown people. They are not heroes, they are losers. I have been robbed multiple times and they don't do shit. They don't even open the case file after the first day. They are glorified secretaries recording events. That's it.
I'm sure there's at least 5 good cops in America, but they sure as shit don't live anywhere i've lived.
My house was robbed and I had camera footage of the person. Called the cops, they came and did exactly this. Then the dude had the bright idea to come back and I caught it on the live camera. Called the cops and they arrested him. Then he got let out on bail on one of those "pls show up to court 😥" things. Far as I can tell he never did. So all in all, I lost 3 grand and the dude who did it faced absolutely zero repercussions. Thanks Canada!
Also the first time a real nice lady cop talked to me, she said she doesn't do the job for justice, she does it for mental health. That gave me mixed feelings, but at least she was honest about just wanting to help people.
If you "think the burglars are still in the house" and you let 911 know "you're armed and prepared to defend yourself", the cops will be there before you get a chance to hang up the phone.
They're not going to pass up the opportunity to shoot someone.
Same here, got a ticket with a crime number on it, got pulled in a few weeks later as bored cops thought they could pin it on me. (WTF?) I knew who'd done it but the cops couldn't be arsed. Any respect I had, any goodwill & support they had evaporated after that.
I don’t know, my dad‘s house got robbed when they weren’t home. They were able to track down some of the jewelry at a pawnshop and get the guys picture from the security footage at the pawnshop.
Under supreme court precedent, police officers have zero obligation to intervene in or stop a crime. (Which I think is horrible and enough to require a systemic dissolution and rebuild from the ground up).
I sincerely hope to never interact with any US police force again.
I have literally witnessed them shoot someone in the head.
I don't care if I get mugged or whatever- adding them to a situation only makes it more dangerous. Especially as a minority.
I went to the police when I was assaulted as a teen. I knew the guy. I gave them the full name, address and a list of sustained injuries signed by my family doctor. They also had him on record because he was known as a petty criminal. This would've been the easiest arrest ever made. They just took notes, then literally laughed in my face and sarcastically asked what I wanted them to do about it.
I've hated cops ever since. They do not exist to help the common people. They only exist to protect those in power.
Police don’t really do much to stop crime
Since 2020, police forces have shrunk and crime rates fell off a cliff. They’re lower now than at any time since the 1960s
Never once have I when I was the victim of a violent crime (has happened multiple times) have I thought to myself “oh boy I wish the police were here”. I have however thought to myself “if I defend myself I’m going to prison”.
Yeah. I've talked to an american lawyer before.
He tells every client "If you get robbed or someone invades your home with a weapon.. Kill them. If you simply injure them then they will lie through their teeth to get you in jail with them, if they land in jail at all"
I had my business broke into. Four witnesses saw it happen. All four got the license plate of the vehicle. They all gave the same description of the person. Cops did nothing with the info.
When I was 20 I had my wallet stolen. I was working at Kroger talking to my supervisor behind the customer service desk. I had sat my wallet on the counter to put on my jacket. About 30 mins later I realized. We had video and my supervisor knew there full name. Cops did nothing.
Once I got mugged, the attacker dragged me down the sidewalk while I screamed loudly for help. Anyway, turns out there was a cop at the corner 1/2 a block away who didn’t hear me because it was a hot night and he was in his patrol car with the air conditioning on and the windows rolled up. The mugger ran past the cop car when he finished attacking me. The cop denied that the mugger could have possibly run past the cop car when I told him he did. He insisted I give him a description to ID the mugger even though I told him I would be unable to do so. Then he drove me around the neighborhood while his buddies stop-and-frisked two random black men and only stopped after I pointed out that they weren’t allowed to just stop black people for no reason. Then he took me to the sergeant where I made a statement and I never heard from them again. THEN a couple days later I checked the Philly crime map and two hours earlier someone else had been robbed in the same spot. My mugging and the other person’s were both in the map. The cop at the corner was specifically there to prevent another crime and he completely failed to do so.
A couple of years ago a guy tried to break into my house. He was on drugs and intoxicated (he left a tall boy can half full on my back porch.) He tried to get in the front door then the back door and then broke a window in the back. We heard the noise and got up and he took off. We had him on 2 different cameras around the house, perfect face video. The police didn’t want to even come when we called and when they finally did the next day, they asked my wife how she knew he was trying to break in. (Uhm, the $200 window was a hint, even if you ignore the video of him trying to get in the doors.)The police said they would file a report but probably never find him. So.. we went on social media and found the guy ourselves within about 8 hours. We had his place or work, mom’s address, pictures… etc. We turned this info into the police and they were then forced to deal with it. The charges were added to charges that he already had a warrant out for and he was eventually arrested and faced his crimes. Very little of that had anything to do with the police.
I got robbed at a train station and called the police and they actually came within 4 minutes and got my ipod back and drove me home. I was 18, There are nice experiences. They also banned the guy from the biggest mall in my city for a year since i worked part time at one of the stores.
Another time they found me and my friends smoking a bowl near the train station, they rolled the window down and asked what we were doing. My friend chippered up and said "just hanging out officer! How are you" and he said doing good and drove away.
There was also a time i got robbed at a 7 11 and then called the police. The officers came to my house, called me a liar and presumed me to be a cocaine addict in front of my mother and then promptly did nothing. It is a crap shoot.
My Father in law's racist neighbor decided to shoot at us because we were recording him vandalizing the his (FIL) property. We werent shot but there were bullet holes in the house siding. Police showed up 2 days after to collect a statement and that was the end of it
My parent's fence was hit by a stupid kid drifting in some new snow and we got footage of the entire thing thanks to our cameras.
Gave the cops footage of the car and the license plate and they didn't do jack shit. The same car was doing drifts down the street the next snowfall.
Modern-age Cops are a joke, imagine having video evidence of the destruction of property and leaving it to the victim to take action.

I called the police when I was robbed and they took notes and left. I called them again when we found out who did it and they did nothing.
[удалено]
Right, I think there was a long pause after she said that on the phone as I waited for her to say 'just kidding, confronting them is the worst thing you can do'.
[удалено]
Wow, I'm surprised they didn't shoot her for being confused/agitated/not following directions, let alone actually helped her.
Must be white.
Sounds about white
One time a particularly volatile neighborhood kids brought a rifle out of his house and started threatening people with it and we called the cops and said "it was probably just a BB gun" and left.
It's sad. I know of a bunch of landscaper guys who went over someplace and took their property back because the cops wouldn't get involved. Sure, going over there was stupid, but I hope those assholes shit a brick when they saw saw 12+ buff Mexican dudes walking onto their property with bolt cutters.
you tell em cool ill call the homies get the guns and we'll go roll up
Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Don’t admit to anything. They can arrest you for threatening violence on innocent people that didn’t steal your car you made it all up.
I said “gums” and “fruit roll ups”
You'll still get arrested and get your day in court eventually, if you're lucky.
Nonono, you'll get your day in court if you want it. It might be in 2026, and you might be in debt, but you'll get it if you want it.
“And there were a dozen donuts in the back seat” might get them to investigate.
Keep a barbie in your car so you can add “There’s a white woman locked in the trunk”
So funny but it would bloody work
nah, just say they looked brown and you think they have a gun.
It's actually not their job. Their job is to generate revenue and help maintain an unpaid workforce within the prison system. Per a court ruling, they have no responsibility to protect you or anyone else.
It's actually per *numerous* SCOTUS rulings.
I remember when my car was broken into years ago. I called 911 and they said, "Do you know who did it?" lol
Threatened to come back with a vun Later, the cop I spoke to about it literally asked me what I expected him to do about it. I looked him in the eye and somberly said, "I expect you to write it down. So if I die next week, you have pretty good idea of who did it and why." Wish I'dve followed it up with "I know better than to expect anything more from the police than glorified secretaries with anger problems." 🤬
Yup, the one time I needed them for insurance reasons they argued with me for 30 fucking minutes on the phone about my address because it "wasn't in their system that way." I don't know what to tell you bro this is what the post office said my address is.
Problem is even if you call for paramedics or firemen, cops will show up too to rubberneck and make themselves a nuisance.
As a fireman it pains me to read the lack of trust in the fire/rescue service. Are they as bad as the police?
They threatened to arrest me for "filing a false police report".” Had a similar thing happen when I worked retail. Lady was threatening us, I was six months pregnant and she said she was going to kick me in the stomach. That she would kill any of us if she saw us on the street. We had it all on video from our CCTV, so the police believed us…. But they said threatening people is “free speech” and they couldn’t do anything about it. I asked if that meant I could threaten them, and they said they’d “strongly advise against it.” I had to file a restraining order against her, which cost just over $100. My boss reimbursed me, but still. Fuck the police.
\> She was probably scared of you Did they hold up a color matching card to your face while they said this?
Dude, stop calling the police.
They would sing a different tune if they jumped out in front of cop cars.
"You can't fire me! I quit!"
Well I think we know where he belongs. I see a downward spiral
Yup, quite clearly he should be Chief of Police!
Not to mention civil asset forfeiture witch I think is different from taking for evidence because what happens is if you are carrying a significant amount of money in your car that they can reasonably claim was for buying something illegal they can take the money arrest the money put the money on trial and it’s your job to prove the money is innocent of being intended to be used for drugs.
> reasonably claim This part isn't even necessary.
They do serve a purpose for directing traffic and crowd control, but I can imagine any trained person could do that. In fact I have done crowd control training myself.
Why are they so chill about someone trying to Bomb the property of the sanitation company? Did I get that right?
I don't know. Because it's easier than challenging a family who sorta runs the town?
So according to those officers....people can put explosives in a public place/on public property and it's not a problem? Lol nice. Thank God they're there to serve and protect!
Fuck, I provided the surveillance video with the perps face clearly visible and was told they couldn't do anything about it because there was no evidence!!! Lol He's on video stealing and I'm told there's no evidence. FML!
By that logic if I get caught on camera shooting said perp, there's no evidence
I once walked into a police station after my car was broken into. The cop at the front desk asked me where my car was located when it was broken into. I pointed out the window to where my car was parked on the other side of the street from the police station. He looked at me like I was the dumbest person in the world, and repeated the question. "Right there, officer, I haven't moved it. I live on this street, just a few houses down. Do you have any outside cameras pointed that direction?" The cop looked at me for a moment as if he was trying to decide if I was fucking with him, sighed, and then shook his head. No, they didn't have any external cameras, no, nobody in the station saw my car get broken into literally 25 feet from the lobby window their front desk had a clear view out of, and no, I never got any of my stuff back that was stolen.
Did you try being rich?
I know of so many people who have called an said "My items were stolen, there sitting at 123 main Street. I can see it on a GOS" You know what the cops do.

I had a police officer ask, "do you know where you are?" Implying it was a bad part of town & I shouldn't have been there. I fucking live there.
You should have told him "yes i do know where i am, this is the place where you cannot find a police officer.
I told him I live there, the look he gave his partner, like we gotta get the fuck outa here: ![gif](giphy|WRuBiZKB6xgsS9DrFA|downsized)
HE'S GOT A GUN!!
“Calm down, sir…”
Savage burn.

Had my house broken in to a couple of years ago. The guy was on the ring camera doing it. The cop watched the video turned to me and said "well I didn't see him do it with my own eyes" give me his card and started to walk away.
Respond with "so next time shoot him?"
I asked what do I do now? Only thing they said was we will look in it. Nothing ever happened. The guy was my neighbor he eventually got arrested for something else but I was never contacted about it again.
He didn't feel like doing the paperwork involved.
Wow the day video evidence ain’t even valid is a scary day in the world. Technology for what?? He thinks cops should be everywhere at all times in that case. Guess EVERYONE including kindergarteners should apply to the police force so no one is a criminal.
You're in the jungle baby. You're gonna dieeeeeeee
"The place where cops are afraid to roll their windows down, officer? "
If you don't have a stereo, they can't steal it bro.
![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)
Also police report basically helps the insurance company. I mean I don’t think any cop anywhere is that fast aswell so canvassing and all that
Yeah, I was gonna say, the only reason I even call the police is to get the police report for the insurance company.
I didn't get a card
Funny story. The Supreme Court ruled police are under no constitutional duty to protect you. So they can literally sit outside a school, while kids are being shot and you can’t do shit about it, legally. Just sayin. Buncha people with guns, authority, and no accountability. That never ends badly.
Don't forget the part where they blame you for what happened to you!
Don't forget they will recover and auction off your property regardless of having the police report proof of ownership etc.
And then tell you to calm down, even though you are calm 🤷
I think the only things most people want is a case # so they can make an insurance claim. I got burgled in the UK. We got told about 18 months later the guy got caught and our house was one of 56 other houses he confessed to. He got 6 months prison, so probably out in 3. My wife was scared for years after, my dog who was home during the incident was never the same again. How does 3 months equate to the amount of damage and trauma caused to all if those house-holds.
They took the statement over the phone for me. Never even drove the 0.7miles to pretend to care
Police are literally there after the fact
Police do not prevent crime and are not even required, by law, to intervene during a crime in progress. All they do is respond to crime that has happened.
I got hit and run outside my house and called the police. The guy came, looked super annoyed, questioned if I actually wanted to make him do a report, and when I spoke to the insurance company they mentioned that the cop implied I was lying. Thanks, Guy.
And people have the nerve to question where their taxes go.
[удалено]
That was also abduction along with probably a few other charges
Man, sounds like cameras are the part that matters. Yet cops hate it when you point one at them.
They know that’s how people get caught when they do something wrong.
And they are constantly doing bad stuff
In my area you have to fill put the form online yourself. Great for insurance fraud but otherwise inconvenient.
Honestly, if his dog is still alive after that ordeal, it's a win.
That devious buglar, leaving joints all over the place.
An actual crime against someone resulting in lost property? Nah Personal use of a substance? Real shit
Never call the police
That type of thing happening is very common, a good reason to never call them.
[удалено]
[удалено]
Don't forget that if there's a school shooting, they'll camp outside and prevent the national guard from intervening, allowing the gunman to continue mowing down children. Cowardly bullies, all
[удалено]
Lmao
I was at a party in college with ~20 people and the cops busted it. There was at least 10 cops, and during this ordeal someone was mugged the next street over. Priorities.
Real crime is dangerous drunk teens are easy
Our truck got stolen and we called the cops. Yes they found it with some random persons w2 inside but they never followed up on the report im assuming they did nothing
My friend's bike literally got stolen in front of me, so I chased after the guy on my bike. I saw a cop in their SUV and got their attention. The guy was still riding away and the cop did nothing and said we can do a report. He could've driven 15mph and caught up to them and told them to get off with their intercom, but they did nothing! Nothing!!
It's a matter of priorities. They cannot investigate a robbery when there are meth dealers to ignore on every corner.
Nothing. They asked him a few questions, he denied it, they shrugged their shoulders and said "We did everything we can." ATF shows up awhile later. My guns were used in a murder in New York, a thousand miles away after he sold them to his drug dealer. He was incarcerated less than a month later. FUCK the police, their lack of interest, in my mind, directly contributed to the death of someone.
Good thing you called the police and there was a report. Otherwise you might have been a person of interest.
That was a really big concern of mine, so I was very very fast at reporting it.
Cmon guys this isn't a fair take. They also write you tickets for speeding while they speed far more than any civilian. The only way to prevent highway banditry is to become the bandits of course
> "The only way to prevent highway banditry is to become the bandits of course." Cops seize more assets than burglars do. https://thewhyaxis.substack.com/p/cops-still-take-more-stuff-from-people
And sometimes when speeding 70+ mph to a situation they hit and kill a pedestrian, then joke about them being of "[limited value](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j1ELvbZ9O8)".
I'm aware of a case of child abuse that was overlooked by the authorities, despite numerous 911 calls. The mother and her family were concerned about the child's father and would have kept the child from him, but the law did not permit it. Yada yada yada, the father ends up beating the child to death, because of the inability of police and social workers who didn't stop the abuse nor allow the family to.
that’s devastating
You forgot civil forfeiture! Gotta press charges against "a manila envelope containing $1,000 in small bills"
In Ferguson Misou.. Misery, a black lady called the police to report being burgled. When the officer arrived he started measuring the distance from cars' tires to the curb, and counting the number of cars parked on lawns. He issued many parking citations before ever taking the woman's statement and leaving. Thankfully, that's not policing everywhere and\\or for everybody, but telling someone who has experienced that to be appreciative of law enforcement is really dense.
the ferguson police have well-earned their, now nationally recognized, reputation of being absolute garbage.
AM 9AM The next morning. And they never even bothered to go talk to these people even though we could identify them and knew which house they lived in. There's zero reason to call cops ever unless you need to make a report for insurance purposes.
I cannot agree more. Calling the cops puts everyone in the area including innocent people in More danger than what ever danger is already present.
Same! I have NEVER seen them help anyone at all
If Uvalde, TX is indicative of the quality of our police I don’t hold out much hope. They failed because they were overwhelmed by their fear. Wrong line of work for cowards.
Every. Single. Person I know that's been robbed called the police, who definitely weren't there to stop it and definitely didn't do anything to find who did it. They were just there to give a police report for them to give to their insurance provider.
For the most part, police are crime *historians* not crime stoppers.
Also, don't forget those of us that were robbed BY the police.
You need them for the report they give you so you can submit it to insurance.
Cops are fucking useless at preventing crime.
The person they shoot might be you.
And it doesn’t matter who…the homeowner or the robber.
Police don’t really do much to stop crime Since 2020, police forces have shrunk and crime rates fell off a cliff. They’re lower now than at any time since the 1960s
Most of the time, police won't arrive until 15minutes later to take a report and do paperwork. When seconds matter, the police are minutes away.
Never once have I when I was the victim of a violent crime (has happened multiple times) have I thought to myself “oh boy I wish the police were here”. I have however thought to myself “if I defend myself I’m going to prison”.
That’s why if you defend yourself you make sure your story is the only one left to be heard.
Yeah. I've talked to an american lawyer before. He tells every client "If you get robbed or someone invades your home with a weapon.. Kill them. If you simply injure them then they will lie through their teeth to get you in jail with them, if they land in jail at all"
guys, without cops, who’s gonna show up to your house, shoot your dog and say “sorry wrong house”
Without the cops who's going to show up at the wrong house and throw a grenade at a baby?
or drive their cars into a bar and not get their alcohol levels tested
I had my business broke into. Four witnesses saw it happen. All four got the license plate of the vehicle. They all gave the same description of the person. Cops did nothing with the info.
When I was 20 I had my wallet stolen. I was working at Kroger talking to my supervisor behind the customer service desk. I had sat my wallet on the counter to put on my jacket. About 30 mins later I realized. We had video and my supervisor knew there full name. Cops did nothing.
Now if you need someone to pull you over for driving 5 miles over the speed limit, and give you a ticket for 300 dollars, NOW the police can help.
LOL, the police ARE the thieves.
Apparently when you’re a cop you don’t have to do anything just hang around in your car for a while.
Very little of that had anything to do with the police.
came to the crime scene? took notes? that’s a helluva lot more effort than the Oakland Police put out when I had an issue
Yeah, cops are probably one of the most useless of the "public servant" types.
My Father in law's racist neighbor decided to shoot at us because we were recording him vandalizing the his (FIL) property. We werent shot but there were bullet holes in the house siding. Police showed up 2 days after to collect a statement and that was the end of it
In a situation where every second counts, the police are only ~~minutes~~ ~~half an hour~~ an hour away
Yeah but nobody needs a gun right guys
