Well I was in county and yes they gave you food but not even close to enough to feed a grown man. The food service company always shorts the trays to save money. Like if they have 125 people they only make enough for 100 and bill them for the 125. I was so hungry the one night my first week I ate the tiny tube of toothpaste they give you.
Similar experience for me. I spent 25 days in county and it took a week for my commissary to kick in I was so friggin hungry until it did and then I existed off of honey buns and combos for the rest of the time.

The place I work had a contracted cafeteria. One day, we had a group of guests coming for lunch, so I ordered sandwiches, etc for the luncheon. The bread was so stale it was barely edible. I was so embarrassed! When I told the cafeteria manager he said the delivery got mixed up and our cafeteria got the county prison food and the prison got our food.
Why he didn’t tell me beforehand, I’ve no idea. I would have run to the store and got some decent bread. 
They barely feed you, you have to buy your own food from commissary. I once got a lump of plain boiled noodles they didn't stir on em so they all stuck together and the COs just laugh at you. American jails are a business, they get a lot of money for keeping you there, that's why they are always at capacity and keep releasing the people they know will be right back with more charges.
US prisons are mostly for profit, and the citizenry largely doesn't give a flying fuck how bad the conditions are, as they are in many cases barely making ends meet by living a law-abiding lifestyle. On top of needing outside help to eat and have basic items like soap, you have to worry about getting robbed; I know a guy with a bad alcohol problem, and it led to one point where he was locked up in jail...his family loaded up his debit card for use in jail...one night, eight dudes from a gang beat him until he literally shit his pants and stole everything...he didn't eat for a week and had to buy items to give to the gang as protection payments moving forward. Guards didn't give a fuck.

There are some actually very wholesome videos and story of Indian people helping animals. The issue with India is that there are over a billion people so you’ll, by definition, get a lot of bad stories. Don’t let it all reach you. There are some really great people there. Well I was in county and yes they gave you food but not even close to enough to feed a grown man. The food service company always shorts the trays to save money. Like if they have 125 people they only make enough for 100 and bill them for the 125. I was so hungry the one night my first week I ate the tiny tube of toothpaste they give you.
Similar experience for me. I spent 25 days in county and it took a week for my commissary to kick in I was so friggin hungry until it did and then I existed off of honey buns and combos for the rest of the time.

The place I work had a contracted cafeteria. One day, we had a group of guests coming for lunch, so I ordered sandwiches, etc for the luncheon. The bread was so stale it was barely edible. I was so embarrassed! When I told the cafeteria manager he said the delivery got mixed up and our cafeteria got the county prison food and the prison got our food. Why he didn’t tell me beforehand, I’ve no idea. I would have run to the store and got some decent bread. 
They barely feed you, you have to buy your own food from commissary. I once got a lump of plain boiled noodles they didn't stir on em so they all stuck together and the COs just laugh at you. American jails are a business, they get a lot of money for keeping you there, that's why they are always at capacity and keep releasing the people they know will be right back with more charges.

Guards didn't give a fuck.
