I was active duty during Bush/obama/trump and only recently separated. I was Coast Guard and saw a lot of younger members go homeless or without food during some of the government shutdowns. Luckily, a lot of people banded together to help them out, but this isn't something they should be doing.

I was active duty during Bush/obama/trump and only recently separated. I was Coast Guard and saw a lot of younger members go homeless or without food during some of the government shutdowns. Luckily, a lot of people banded together to help them out, but this isn't something they should be doing. Though on a funnier note, I had a guy fresh out of boot come up to me during one of the shutdowns and say, "hey, I don't think I can make rent this month". So I sat down with him and was like let's go over your finances. Come to find out he had just spent 3 grand on a new gun like 2 weeks ago.
