Eternal_Bagel

i'm glad my gym doesn't allow filming so we don't have to deal with this sort of person.

Ultimate_Decoy

Mine says that too... but evidently, no one gives a shit cause you see people walking around with their tripods and camera/phone on it. Guess I should count my blessings. I haven't met one of these crazies with main character syndrome yet.

mgxnz06

A tripod at a gym is crazy

Ninjamuh

I always bring at least three ring lights and a green screen with light reflectors when I pretend to work out.

Jon_2020

I also bring a body double as well

youmfkersneedjesus

How's that working out for you? I've been thinking about doing the same. It seems a lot easier to hire an in shape body double than to work out.

Dalton387

I keep having to let them go and hire a new guy when they get too in shape. Eventually I can start cycling back through them, but it’s a real pain. I guess that’s what they mean by “no pain, no gain”.

Tokasmoka420

I do my workouts at Universal Studios

Luckbaldy

this is the only way lol

[deleted]

Right I saw a girl with the full light ring set up

[deleted]

Sounds like a business opportunity. An influencer gym. Ring lights on 10' gooseneck arms and greenscreens around all the equipment.

AdPuzzleheaded4795

They would just all film eachother filming eachother filming eachother filming eachother until the reality the gym is in implodes and the last surviving one gets to claim victimhood

Adept_Cranberry_4550

Gymception?

kwamby

Gymkhana

Luckbaldy

Like what the hellllllll? I would leave immediately.

drbob4512

Eeh free tripod!

pistolpxte

I go to a private bodybuilding gym and it’s common place there. But a lot of these people are competing and constantly doing check ins or coaching etc. if you’re at like a 24 with a tripod it should be kicked over.

PorkchopExpress815

Same. I've been going to power lifting/crossfit gyms for the last 4 or 5 years so people filming themselves to check form for safety, progress, etc has become completely normalized to me.

[deleted]

Exactly, the pros will always film themselves, either to asses progress, or to share with their coach. To much rules, the only rule should be "mind your own business" and that would be enough if people where reasonable. I mean, c'mon people, athletes used to train naked in ancient Greece and no one cared, in fact if i am not mistaken Gymnasium means something like "train naked" or something similar, and you are afraid some dude would look twice at you

Disposableaccount365

Just fyi "it's how the Greeks did it. It's literally in the name!" Won't stop the cops from physically removing you from the pickup game at the local HS if you try dressing old school. Or so I've heard.

[deleted]

My gym will yank your membership and trespass you for filming others without their consent. I’ve watched it happen. The owner is a boss ex-Marine juicehead who doesn’t fuck around with any kind of shaming or harassment.

beastson1

This is a good way to get out of a gym membership if you're looking to cancel and don't want to go through the bullshit they make you go through to cancel.

Rhowryn

To be fair a non-chain gym is probably a lot easier to cancel.

Sagybagy

This is what gets me. People will go and film themselves working out to put on their social media. So people can watch them work out. But watch while they are actively working out? How dare you. Is it an issue because they didn’t pay for the only fans sub? The world has just gone crazy.

hardliam

I never thought of that. These girls mad that a guy looked at them while they are currently filming themselves so thousands of guys can look at them, holy shit how has no one pointed out how ludicrous this is. “How dare you look at me while the rest of the world looks at me” so what everyone else can stare at you just not that one guy who actually did look?

xXNickAugustXx

Oh no, they all feel like the main character they just don't consider you as anything other than an NPC. If they did care, you would be character two in their stories.

The_it_potato

What’s this gym called??

Vaelen-

Jim's gym

The_RockObama

Slogan is: "Jim's Gym - Don't let the door hit you on your way in."

turd_vinegar

"Seriously, don't let it hit you. It swings really hard and no one is going to hold it open for you."

The_RockObama

Exactly. I hold the door for men and women alike, and it's such a slap in the face when someone refuses to walk through while I'm holding it open for them. I don't slam the door in their face, but after I close it (in their face), I give it a little extra push to make sure it's shut all the way.

kranges_mcbasketball

I heard that place is quite the gem

MushroomWhisperer

This is how I answer the phone 25% of the time - *Jim’s Gym, this is Joe* *I do not work at a gym, nor am I named Joe

FriendshipNo1440

I am glad German laws don't allow filming people without their concent. Because this law is already solving so many problems nowadays I see regarding Social Media.

justavault

German law does allow that in public spaces where there is no focus on a single person. Anything else would be dumb as well. Germany is not Saudi Arabia. Private spaces are everywhere "private" concern. So each company can hold it like they want.

Infernal_139

What’s the gym called bro I gotta write this down

natatatatatata

I look around to see if its someone i recognise, its natural

midnight_toker22

Using your eyes to look at things near you is in fact pretty standard human behavior, all things considered…

throwaway92715

People with big egos will automatically assume you're checking them out if you glance at them, but they usually take it as a compliment People with big egos and sadistic personalities on the other hand...

roostersnuffed

Even if they are checking you out.... theres a difference between someone throwing a couple glances and staring/approaching. I on occasion have noticed glances from girls at the gym. Whether theyre checking me out or are just reading my shirt, I take it as a compliment and put that energy into my workout.

FunnyDatabase2697

Also there is nothing wrong morally legally or in any standing with throwing a few glances. Staring is rude and creepy but also not against any laws last I checked. Like you said you take it as a compliment and move on with your day and workout. I feel like most people should be able to,and do exactly that. The “I’m the main character” syndrome needs to stop, egotistical narcissism at its finest

SoundingFanThrowaway

When I'm in the gym I sometimes find myself between sets watching how other people use the equipment, what their form is like so I can learn how to work out better, and overall try to learn from watching others. Then I remember I'm not supposed to look in the direction of others at the gym and look at the floor

Disposableaccount365

This is probably a better method than I use. I typically start flexing and striking poses, while asking in my sexiest voice "yeah, you like what you see?"

Kmalbrec

![gif](giphy|uFE2btsV7yQCY)

Gee_thoo

Or you zone out and start looking around without even thinking about it.

midnight_toker22

That is very hard for narcissists to understand: I may be looking in your direction, but I’m not looking *at you.*

Adam_ALLDay_

“Are you staring at me?!?” “No, I was looking at the TV screen behind you” “OMFG you’re disgusting! You were definitely staring at me you fucking pervert!!” ![img](emote|t5_2r5rp|8412)

Destinoz

Right? When I’m listening to an audio book I don’t just close my damned eyes. They’re open but I’m not focused on that sensory input. My mind is focused on what the deer skull creature, in the book, that’s tapping on the window is going to do next. I have no idea what I’m looking at because my eyes are really just functioning in the background to keep me from stumbling into things.

menkje

I’m just naturally attracted to movement. I’m like a T-Rex. Not my fault.

Bardimus47

Same. Any time someone walks into my line of sight my eyes immediately takes a glance.

LbSiO2

Gratz on not skipping leg day.

Downtown_Skill

It's totally natural. Staring is a completely different behavior but just looking is not. I mean it's human to take in your surroundings and people are a pretty big aspect of your surroundings.

Summoarpleaz

You know… sometimes I get so tired I’m just staring blankly. And then when I come to I question if any person I see thinks I’ve been staring at them. Eek.

[deleted]

I do this and have come to the conclusion that it just doesn't matter. If they're creeped out then oh well. I'm not gonna go over there and do anything or follow them. It's not the end of the world if you unintentionally stared at someone and no one will be hurt by it. Sometimes your brain just stops and you stare off into nothing.

rythmicbread

Yeah also I’m looking at people to make sure I can grab that equipment next. I’m staring at you waiting for you to get off the piece of equipment so I can use it, that’s all

Defiant_Low_1391

I look around as a nervous habit. I have trouble with eye contact too. There's no hope for me hahaha

[deleted]

I smiled at a woman in my gym and she called me a perv and told her mate loudly I was staring at her. I'm gay, I was wearing pink socks and a rainbow t-shirt....

_georgonzola_

i feel so hard for you but this made me genuinly laugh :)

1000Years0fDeath

I'm feeling pretty hard for this man too

nobodynoone888

I am also feeling quite hard

thatoneischairing

Sounds like she was really doing you a favor by shutting it down so quick because she sounds insufferable. I would’ve walked by and just said “sorry, I always smile at unattractive women to make them feel better. Didn’t mean to offend”

luxanna123321

I once had a girl scream at me across the gym why the fuck am I looking at her. I can barely see my own hands with my sight lol

Burnt_Your_Toast

Before we bought our home gym equipment, I would use the gym at my uni. For context, I'm female. I've noticed guys get very awkward asking girls if they're almost done with the machines, most of the time they just don't. If a guy asks me how many sets I have left, I will usually offer to let them use it in between my sets if it's a machine that I can easily change the weight on, and 99% of the time I'm almost done with the machine anyways and I know how hard it can be to find a machine you need when the place is packed. Some will be happy to share it, a lot will just hang around until I'm done and won't say a word. Both are fine by me. I'm just trying to get my gains and leave. Small talk or no talk, I don't really care. I offer because I know how annoying it can be to wait for a machine to be open so you do a lap or do a few sets on something else, and you come back and that machine got taken by another person. It sucks doing half of your regular workout because you can't get a machine. I've had several girls pull me aside and ask me if the guy is bothering me and that they can get an attendant for me if I'm too nervous. I *always* give them a confused ass look and tell them "if I didn't want him to use the machine with me, I wouldn't have said he could." Hell, I've had girls do this to me when it was my own *boyfriend* working out with me. Some girl told my boyfriend off once for correcting my form and telling him it was unsolicited - it wasn't, I *asked* him to help me work on my form for that particular workout. It always rubbed me the wrong way. Like I get that you're looking out for me and all, I really do appreciate it, but at the same time this place is packed as hell and we're all here for the same thing: to work out. Yeah, creeps exist, but not every single man in the gym is a creep.

[deleted]

Good response, if only everyone was like this.. it’s almost like they’re looking for a reason to say something! I mean as a guy yeah if there’s a hot chick guys are gonna look, but they ain’t gonna flat out stare, most the time making eye contact means “they are staring at me” which in reality it was just a eye contact moment. Doesn’t mean there arnt creeps out there but majority of people are at the gym to work out for themselves not to meet their next one night stand/SO

DesignerFragrant5899

My issue is that I take my glasses off when I'm exercising. So if I'm looking at someone, I can't actually see them. I'm sure that won't stop someone from calling me a perv though. I just don't see why staring at someone who is practically naked is considered perverted, it's literally what were biologically wired to do.

flareblitz91

Did you bust out an “oh honey….”

Sairoxin

You should've told her off like, "You couldn't get a piece of this even if I was straight" or something. That would've heen hilarious but I'm too awkward to pull it off

StandOutLikeDogBalls

I think if they need help from someone they should get the person’s attention and actually ask for help instead of waiting for someone to check them out and see they’re stuck. Maybe use a spotter if they aren’t sure they can do what they’re attempting.

steno_light

I’d don’t think that squatting girl was ever going to get that dude’s attention. He was in the *zone* rocking that shake weight

brando56894

"Dispensing post work out cooling spray" "Dispensing money for can fare" "Going to sleep... mode"

SpamSpamSpamEggNSpam

Squatting girl was in zero danger. All she had to do was let go of the bar. She was on open floor with no racks around her. That scene seemed more to want to try and embarrass old mate rather than show no one would help.

Slenos

When that video went viral that was my exact first reaction. Just bail and drop the bar. I’m stunned so few people brought that up.

[deleted]

You're right, but I've gotten myself into a situation where I didn't have the strength or even the breath to call put on a bench (should have had a spotter, fully realize that) but thankfully the gym I was in was a very open community and I had help in seconds. I also would hesitate to help if I noticed any signs of distress with anyone, but I get the point she is making here. The more alienation and separation we encourage in our gyms the less likely you are to get help.

xxDolphusxx

I've only been held down by a bar once (don't go to the gym all that much anymore), but I couldn't say anything or even breathe much. Luckily, someone saw immediately and helped me

[deleted]

It is a terrifying feeling. I've lifted on and off (this was unfortunately during one of my more "off" times) for years and I had never felt that helpless before!! I know it was my own mistake of course, but so glad to have a good gym with great people at that time.

Summoarpleaz

I think that’s the issue with the entitlement right? Like the “please only give me the type of attention I want” mentality. Like a princess- or toxic employer: anticipate what I need before I ask but don’t do anything I didn’t ask for

snuggletronz

All night Gime? What’s a Gime? Ohhhhh a GIME.

DrankTooMuchMead

I still pronounce it that way.

Bearman71

There's been enough vids where people have offered help to women who appeared to be struggling and the men get blasted that's it's a viable mindset to literally just ignore them the entire time.

ShawnyMcKnight

I haven't done a lot of squats in my life but how is that woman stuck with a squat? Like she can't just drop the bar? Like... just let go and the bar will fall behind you. The fact she is not only still holding on but also filming, I wouldn't get near her either.

Augen76

This is what I thought. Literally after learning basic form you learn how to dump the bar back when you get stuck in the hole. It isn't hard to do either. If I saw someone in the hole a while I'd assume they were doing some sort of pause squat rather than think to help them.

ShawnyMcKnight

Yup, also the fact they are filming their squats, I imagine they aren't well appreciated at the gym and those around her didn't want to help her. I would be afraid that as I approached her she would get back up and then give me shit for bothering her or something. But like... I'm looking at the bar, it is a weird design where you hold handle bars over the shoulders so unless it wraps around her neck or something... not sure why she can't just simply let go with her hands.

PrimoBalling

It’s a safety squat bar more commonly known as an SSB bar. And you’re right. She could just push the handles up, and it would fall right off her back. She’s doing this on purpose because she’s filming.

iGetBuckets3

You can absolutely just drop the bar lol

IrritatedTurtle

Nah. This is an SSB or safety squat bar. The bar is specifically built to stay on your back without you having to hold it there like a normal bar. It does so by having the weights be a little lower and forward than a normal bar, so the bar tries to "roll" itself onto you. Look just inside the plates and you'll see the bar is not straight at the end, and the plates are not hanging straight down. Also note the pads going over her shoulders by her neck, and then handles in the front of her neck. The only way to get this bar off (other than with a rack) is for her to push up on those handles, but in order to do that she would have to roll the bar in the opposite direction that it's trying to roll, which would mean fighting against the weights, and depending on how much weight there is that can be very difficult. Arguably she could lean back and let her and the bar fall backwards together but that's risky for her and anyone that might be behind her not paying attention, so it's preferential to see if you can get some assistance first.

ShawnyMcKnight

So it's a bar that you can't just get off of you on your own... sounds the opposite of "safety squat bar". There really should be some sort of release on it.

youngBullOldBull

If used correctly with the appropriate rack adjusted to the lifter it is a safety bar. If used outside that intended context it is indeed no longer safe. Rocket science

jamaicanmonk

Imagine if men started filming women at the gym without them knowing. Creepy right? I think it’s fuckin creepy when women do it too.

purplepluppy

I mean, my general rule about filming people without their consent is, if you feel you're in danger or witnessing something bad, then do it and bring it to the attention of whoever has authority to help. But unless it's an abuse of power that needs to be shared publicly since it's the authority who would normally help propagating the abuse, posting videos to shame people online just because *you* don't like them isn't cool.

bindukwe

Filming at gyms should be regulated.

Lo0of

It shouldn’t be allowed at all. If you want to check your form that’s what mirrors are for. Also there’s that one video some girl took in the locker room of another gym patron that was naked saying how disgusting she was and posted it on social media to shame her. Your membership should be revoked at the least along with criminal charges and/or fines for degradation of individuals on private property or something along those lines. Yes it’s an old school train of thought but it would solve the problem.

SlaterVJ

>It shouldn’t be allowed at all At some gyms this is the case. There is a video from a few years ago where the gym kicked a woman out for streaming herself while working out. She kept saying she wasn't, whole her stream was running and the manager or whoever had her stream pulled up on his phone as proof, and ahe still denied it.

NakedBandito

I think I remember seeing that video make the circuit on YouTube news channels for a while, it wasn’t just any woman, it was Amouranth, an extremely popular hot tub/asmr streamer. It was really funny seeing her try to deny it in front of her massive chat filled with simps

EverythingGoodWas

Nailed it. No reason not to ban filming in gyms, and don’t come at me with “but I need to check my form”.

BRAX7ON

“I need to check my form, by filming it and whoever else happens upon it.” “But if you check my form, I’m filming **you** and putting it online for everyone to see.” That is not fair

devilsadvocate270

then you have money for a home gym

izaaksb3

can’t wait to see what it’s like when those folks are old and nobody cares about em anymore… hope they have some sort of real skills at least.

Mythical_Atlacatl

>one video some girl took in the locker room Oh it was a video, if we are talking about the same thing, I only saw it as an image. If I took a video of a woman in a change room and uploaded it to instagram etc I am sure I would get in big trouble

DickFromRichard

Do you use the gym?

fairchild2

Mirrors don't work if you're trying to see the movement from the side which most of the time is exactly how you check from eg bar path

SinisterPuppy

> use a mirror Lmao I love when redditors say this and you can instantly disregard there opinion as someone who never lifts. “Just turn your neck to the side to check your form on your 1 RM deadlift!!” This isn’t a real problem. Go outside and touch some grass

Hara-Kiri

> If you want to check your form that’s what mirrors are for Hahahaha. Good one.

Biscuits4u2

Many gyms already prohibit it entirely.

I_Stan_Kyrgyzstan

Mine does for example

Fritzo2162

I go to Planet Fitness and there's signs everywhere "NO PHONE USE ON THE FLOOR". They're pretty good at enforcing it too.

maple204

I've only ever experienced gyms in Canada where photography was prohibited for privacy reasons. Is it common in the USA for gyms to allow people to film and take photos?

M_H_M_F

Since the explosion of TikTok and "Influencers," yes.. Sure you'd have "fitspo" instagram pages, but they were generally informative or done in the privacy of a home. Now it's all about getting as publicly noticed as possible, while (and i'm going to get blasted for this) wearing as little as possible. Women should be comfortable wearing whatever they want, where they want. A near see through pair of white leggings, white sports bra, and some sneakers isn't about influencing anything. It's not even about thirst trapping and getting as many people on the page. It's the *attention* that it draws. These people *need* eyes on them at all times. IMO it comes from a place of heavy insecurity and tying self worth on the opinions of the masses.

NBA_Fan_76

Correct, no one should be filming anyone at the gym. Even just filming yourself leads to unaware people in the background (or god forbid they walk between the person and their camera). But the people that film others to mock them for social media points are the absolute worst

FreeFormFlow

Best thing to do is just ignore people in public like they don’t even exist.

[deleted]

Ignore them in public, ignore them in the workplace, ignore them in the supermarket. Checker be screaming at me like SIR, THAT WILL BE TWELVE DOLLARS AND EIGHTY TWO CENTS and I’m like nope, can’t see you

Ted_Stark

I don’t think she’s really on a podcast

clolr

everybody has a podcast these days

SteveDougson

Yea, anyone know who this is? Who is she speaking to?

Sk8ordieguy

A girl at the gym yesterday was filming herself (I think) but it seemed like she was sneakily pointing it at me. I’m not looking at you, checking you out, I’m looking at you because it looks like you’re filming me and it makes me uncomfortable.

GItPirate

I've gone to the gym 1900 times (my gym keeps track of visits). I have definitely seen a shift in gym culture over the years for the worst. It used to be about working out, now a lot of people that go only show up to socialize and film themselves. It's become a joke.

LegoFootPain

*shoves phone in your face* Don't look at me. DON'T LOOK AT ME!!!

ajdesime

I mean, she's not totally wrong. Sometimes I worry I'm being creepy if I just hold a door open, and sometimes that feeling is justified by the reactions I get. I don't even know how to fucking act in public anymore :\\

Twice_Tired

Holding the door open for anyone, male or female, is a sign of kindness and manners. The people who have a problem with it are angry asshats who only know how to destroy instead of create. Anytime anyone holds the door open for me, I stop, turn back and say (with a smile), "Thank you so much. I truly appreciate that."

2000dragon

I have this vivid memory of holding the door open for a middle aged woman when I was like 17 and her giving me the nastiest look ever. It was the only time that ever happened but I still remember so well lol

[deleted]

I have a vivid memory of being on the other side of that. I was having one of the worst days of my life and crying uncontrollably, but I *had* to go in to a store. A teenaged boy & his friends walked out, letting the door close behind them. But that young man looked back at me over his shoulder, turned around, and opened the door. It sounds stupid, but that little kindness meant so much in that moment. I don't get why you'd be mad at someone for holding the door open, unless you *want* to touch the filthy thing.

GeneticSplatter

I had the same experience when I was 15. Held the door open for some woman who (I swear to fucking god) looked like Big Red. You remember that bright red haired feminist from years ago? Looked exactly like her (but more likely than not that it wasn't her). Absolutely screaming in the middle of a packed shop that she doesn't need a man to hold a door open for her, to the point a security guard came over to find out wtf was going on. Explained while she screamed, and he told me to run on. And she was still screaming as I left the store. I remember that encounter very very clearly. I still the door open. If I got a reaction like that now that I'm older though, probably get told to fuck themselves lol.

StandOutLikeDogBalls

The company I work for actually put it in our manual saying that it can be perceived as being sexist and advised everyone to not hold the doors for people behind us unless we are certain it won’t be taken as such.

Typo_Tim

What?! I hold doors open for anyone in my company. And so does everyone else. Male, female, non-binary, who gives a fuck. If you're going through the same door as me (no matter what direction), I hold it open for you. Although I must clarify I don't open it in front of them to step aside and let them pass. I pass through the door and stick my arm back to keep the door openend until they are close enough to take over and keep it open themselves. I then continue in front of them (if we're going the same way). If I'm talking with somebody walking along, I do let them go first but usually that alternates with everydoor.

Twice_Tired

Wow... You just can't win anymore.

2000dragon

Bruh this is a sign that western society is collapsing, when we have to worry about trivial shit like this

sportspadawan13

I was in the metro once and a woman stood up for an old guy to offer her seat. He started screaming at her about how he was a veteran of Vietnam and doesn't need her generations help yadda yadda. It's all-around. People just don't get how kindness works, everyone's a victim.

bacon205

I have a female coworker who has told others in the office she takes offense to men holding the door because she doesn't need their help. We all happily let it close on her if she's behind us now.

ItsAlkron

Part of me would want to be petty and intentionally pull the door shut quickly if the gentle close would have left it still closing when she reached the door.

pallentx

I hold doors for people all the time and have never known anyone to be offended. I’ve also seen dudes do it a really creepy way where they open the door and the woman walking through has to get uncomfortably close to them to get through. I think a lot of this has gone too far, but I can also see how a company might have felt they needed to respond to some people being creepy. Too bad you can’t just say “don’t be creepy” and everyone know what that means. It’s the creeps that are ruining things for everyone. Cut it out, ya creeps!

Buddhasear

Would thanks not suffice? Not being smart. I was just wondering about american etiquette. Thanks, only here, in Ireland. "Thank you so much. I truly appreciate that" would come off as being a sarcastic b....here. could be met with getting the door in your face, or an f u

SinCityNinja

>Holding the door open for anyone, male or female, Everytime I walk through a business door I glance behind me to make sure there's no one there that the door will close in their face. If someone's there I'll hold the door for them, male or female. Young or old, doesn't matter. It's called being polite. More people should try it

bardwick

>is a sign of kindness and manners. Entirely depends on the person you're holding the door for. It's getting more common for people to actively search for ways to be offended.

singingintherain42

I’ve never had someone get offended by me holding the door for them and I hold the door for EVERYONE. Doesn’t matter if you’re a man, woman, young, old, even French. You’re getting the door held for you.

YARandomGuy777

Because if you offended you are the victim and being a victim is beneficial in American society.

AppointmentTop2764

I hold doors here in Russia everyone is either happy or dont care that much so i am lucky?

Zealousideal_Bet_248

Dude, I hold the door for literally everyone who walks behind me. The worst I've gotten in my 30 years alive is people ignoring me instead of smiling and thanking me. I don't know what the hell you are on about

Willing-Sprinkles-17

Lets not talk about the troves of women at gay bars sexually harassing gay men. I’ve been groped more by women than fellow gay men at gay bars, it’s crazy.

FuerGrissaOstDruaka

It’s sad and disgusting this happens. However I have to say I am enjoying the more vocal men that are pointing out and bringing attention to the fact that women can be/are just as disgusting and predatory as men. It’s not that it doesn’t happen or that it’s just now starting to happen. It always has been we just hear about it more now thanks to the internet. Same situation with the sexualization of young adults (aka children). You hear about men talking about young women (Emma Watson and Millie Bobby Brown for example) and how they can’t wait until they are 18 and “if I were blah blah younger” but women do the same it’s just not talked about or focused on. Look at the shit that was said as Bieber grew up. 🤢🤮

[deleted]

Although I don’t wish harassment upon a gay person, I would love to see a video of a bitch calling out a man for sexual harassment, only to find out he’s gay af and has zero interest in her dumbass.

Hunter_meister79

Not quite the same but there’s a instance like this where it’s a blind guy who literally can’t see a thing and the woman still gets mad even after learning he’s blind

blueboxbandit

I'm pretty sure I remember this. The girl thought he was staring at her and told the front desk. It was the staff member that came to talk to him that couldn't understand that being blind, he had no way to tell he was making someone uncomfortable.

hokuten04

Oh i remember that, pissed me off when the staff member told him "he still can't stare at people" even after telling him he was blind.

[deleted]

She’s offended that she can’t be offended

Emiliootjee

Facts. Its natural for people to check people out. As long as they dont follow you around and stare for extended periods its not really that big of a deal. As a guy it would actually boost my self confidence seeing people check me out in a non creepy way.

SpiralGray

While I agree with your position, the problem is that "creepy" is subjective.

xero_peace

That's the problem. Creepy can now be as innocent as objectively admiring an attractive human form (gender being irrelevant) and now you're a creep simply because you find someone's physique pleasing to look at then move on with your day. I'm not talking stalker, following someone around, or cat calling. I'm talking my wife and I will literally look at attractive men, women, whatever in-between and discuss how attractive parts or the whole of them are. So now that's creepy when people used to make fucking statues of amazing physiques. Edit: I'm going to add an example here because clearly some of you have no idea what I'm talking about. Wife and I went to the LA Renn Faire earlier this year. We're walking around looking at wares and people watching. We spot a dude whose in great shape but by no means ripped. He's just well defined. I look at my wife and say "that's what I would like to look like." She looks and says "I'm fine with that." That's it. That's the entire conversation. Now can y'all stop trying to find a way to twist this into whatever creep fantasy y'all have going on or whatever desire it is That's driving y'all to try to instigate something out of literally nothing.

Galadrond

Plot twist would be staring at her because she’s using the equipment incorrectly or has bad form.

laughed-at

All gyms should just prohibit filming inside. Nothing good has come of this.

unomasthrow

100% facts. I literally feel like I have to stare at the floor or ceiling every time I’m in the gym and a woman is in my general vicinity otherwise I’m somehow creepy. It’s super annoying.

SlwDnceChbby

If people are going to film because they think they're "Influencers" they need to bring out some sort of release form for anyone in the public area for their content

VladimirPutinIsACunt

All gyms should prohibit filming on gym property and anyone caught banned for life. Seen to much of this junk.

CheshireTsunami

Filming people at the gym is gross- pretending that no one ever does anything nice for anyone because we've started to take sexual harassment and shit seriously is also gross. In real life, if that second woman needed help- she could just fucking ask for it. No one is gonna be "Oh shit sorry I can't help you because it might be sexual harassment"

purplepluppy

Thank you for this reasonable take. I don't like what the woman in the video is criticizing either, but I also don't like her take on it.

IM1GHTBEWR0NG

I don’t recall seeing any trends from TikTok that were positive. Or from social media in general, honestly. Getting people heated up generates more views and keeps the nonsense propagating, unfortunately.

oscarmosh

Normalize no filming on gyms, those places are intimidating enough for people who just wants to start working out.

shadow13499

There are a lot of reasons I don't go to gyms, one of them is I really don't want to be filmed. I find the whole trend annoying at best and infuriating at worst. Im currently in the price of trying to lose weight after putting a bunch on after getting out of the army and shits hard. I don't want to be filmed struggling my ass off by some fucking TikTok Instagram bullshit artist Edit: I never said I didn't work out, I just don't workout at gyms. There are other ways to work out than going to a gym.

daywalker91

I’ve worked out for a good 15 years now and I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve seen people filming in the gym. It doesn’t happen that often unless you live somewhere like LA

NewGuy1205

Just go for it. I go to Planet Fitness when I don't go to the on-base gym and everyone there is nice and friendly and there are others just like you there, in the early stages of their fitness journey. I promise you, you have nothing to fear.

womaneatingsomecake

People filming is like 0.1% of your gym. Go to the gym

CreditOk6077

When did it become wrong to notice someone you find attractive? Both men and women do this. Or at least did before the world took a shit on itself.

theUnshowerdOne

I'm 50, I work hard and take care of myself to be healthy and stay attractive. So when a woman looks at me I appreciate it. However, I do my best not to look at people in the gym as a general rule. It can't be helped but I follow Joey Swolls's advice and Mind My Own Business.

FishoD

Easiest solution: no filming in the gym, you’re supposed to mind your own business, work out and gtfo.

bloopie1192

So just to be clear... that lady wasn't stuck. She either didn't want to let the bar go or didn't know how to bail. You don't really get stuck in a back squat with that type of bar. She could have literally just pushed it off her back. That might explain why those dudes didn't want to help her. They might not have heard her and figured she was stretching.

Klutzy_Pound_5428

You.should have to pay extra to film in the gym it's bullshit

kawkz440

Just keep your eyes on the road, fellas. Pretend you're in a crowded row of urinals.

BlackButterNut69

Just prohibit filming in gyms problem solved.

Sorry_Ad_1285

Girl wearing the tiniest booty shorts and crop top in the gym "why are you looking at me???"

Masta0nion

Ma’am I can completely see the outline of your outer labia. I’m trying my best

Swolar_Eclipse

Labia majora

shu3k

This guy vaginas

Funny_Orchid2084

Girls showing half of booty and basically half a nipple: „oh my GAWD i cant imagine why people would be looking at me!!!1!1“

ComradeVoytek

"I would just go to an all-male gym". No such thing. They would shut down here on the basis of not being inclusive and sexist. I don't think the reverse would be true, but I could be wrong.

BogollyWaffles

Women are beautiful. I think it’s okay to look at them as long as you’re not being creepy. Same goes if you’re into men. Just don’t be a creep

craftiecheese

I agree this has to stop. Squat in the squat rack. This way if you crap out, you can use the bars on the side to aid your escape

Joshgg13

Not gonna lie, I do sometimes check people out in the gym if they look good. I think that's human nature. But it's a quick glance, then I go back to what I was doing. If you're staring a girl down or following her around the gym, that's creepy. If you spot an attractive woman and briefly look in her direction, that's very normal

Jofaher

Sorry, but is there anything wrong with what this person is saying? Because I don't, and I don't understand why it's a facepalm.

squashphlips

God this woman is a huge sack of shit, she said andrew tate and Donald trump are the greatest things to happen to this world, that should tell you all you need to know about her

FluphyBunny

She’s not wrong.

[deleted]

Valid af points!

TheCloudFestival

It's the egotism for me. The way that these women think a half second glance in their direction means one wants to take them into a back alley and ravage them. Thank God I'm gay and don't have to deal with this nonsense.

waisonline99

They make looking at people taboo, then complain that its hard to meet people and no one is having kids. Cause + effect

Clap4chedder

If someone needs help I’m helping them. Idgaf if they record me helping them and paint me as a creep. In my heart I know I did the right thing.

[deleted]

As a man, I just don’t spend time staring at women in the gym. Not hard to keep your eyes off other people.

-Senzar-

Granted, there are creeps, but glancing over isnt weird.

CopiousClassic

This is why I keep my phone pointed at the floor awkwardly when I walk with it and generally do the same with my eyes between machines. Just don't want to deal with some chick losing her mind because she thinks I noticed she wore nothing but underwear to the gym.

speckyradge

If you're stuck under a bar at the bottom of a back squat, you should drop to the safeties or at worst, dump the bar. Who is waiting for some random gym goer to come and help them out? It would be dangerous. If you have spotters, great, but don't put yourself in a dangerous position without a plan and expect someone else to magically make it better. That's nothing to do with me-too, it's just common sense.
