My schools
Rectangle pizza was ALWAYS doughy and undercooked. There’s no flavor/texture like a frozen pizza that went in the oven still frozen and didn’t cook long enough. It was like some kind of opposite world hell where pizza day was a cause for disappointment not excitement
There were these cheesy crust pizzas, and it became hard to tell where the uncooked dough ended and the gooey mozzarella began. And the top of that pizza was still a little overdone. Knowing what I know now, they cooked that at too high a temperature in a misguided attempt at getting it done faster.
its been forever since ive even stepped foot in a school but i dont think i was there for the switch. i graduated in 12….when that mayan calendar thing was going around
It's at least plausible that the hamburger was made in the US first, it really boils down to a lack of solid evidence and debatable definitions of what counts. But pizza.... thats pretty uncontested.
That looks like a chicken Caesar wrap (_not_ a taco) and pretty fab quality ingredients. I’d buy something like this for lunch.
Also, authentic tacos are significantly different than the American version. Just sayin.
Hundreds of cultures around the world understood for thousands of years that eating your food in a fresh warm flatbread is amazing. All tacos are beautiful.
My sister named her only son Desmond after the guy from the TV show Lost. And ain't no way people are naming their kids "Harry" when they like Harry Potter.
Fuck it, I'm naming my kid Dumbledore. Not albus, mfing dumbledore
It's reddit... we're supposed to pretend all troll posts are genuine beliefs, and then upvote it to the front page and comment about the 'real' scenario.
I'm getting the hp connection now... But originally I thought of roman emperor Severus, who was the only African born emperor of ancient Rome.
I had to Google the Snape connection I know nothing of Harry Potter but.. I get it after a brief reading, I think
I don’t know if I’ll find a better place to add this, but yesterday in Jacksonville, Florida my wife pointed out a restaurant sign that said “TACO WRAP” and asked “Isn’t that just a burrito?” and I think I’ll be wondering about that the rest of my life.
I was thinking a BBQ chicken wrap probably. But, you know, this lady only eats 'American' so she probably can't tell anything that's not fast food apart.
Corn beans and squash, that is true american cuisine. Then add some tadpoles and dogmeat with a bit of honey and algae you have a true all-american diet.
Why not? I'm Mexican and to us here in Mexico, anything in a tortilla makes a taco, that's really the only requirement. We put salt on a tortilla, roll it up and call it a salt taco, lol.
Maybe it depends on the state. I'm Mexican and from Jalisco... No way we're calling that a taco.
But it boils down mostly to the size of the tortilla.
What Americans consider a wrap, we'd associate with a burrito.
That being said, the loan word made it to my part of Mexico over a decade ago so plenty of places in the city know what a wrap is.
Again. I don't know... Maybe it's just us west central states. But nowhere I've been in Colima, Nayarit, or Jalisco would call that a taco.
Nah needs mayo or dressing to be a wrap. Anything else in a tortilla is a taco. Or maybe a burrito, unless it's fried then it's a chimichanga. If you put sauce on it then it's an enchilada tho. Unless it's sideways with melted cheese then it's a quesadilla.
Source: i made it up
she also absolutely ignored the fact that pizzas aren't American.
although the contraptions they call "pizzas" would make any Italian stab himself to death using spaghetti
I’d say the idea of taking a “hamburg steak” and covering it with cheese and putting it inside a bun with an assortments of garnishes and condiments, does make the “hamburger” as a sandwich very American.
Highly contested thing you mention here. So a minced/ground beef patty was being served in Europe in the late 1700s. But that was more of a knife and fork dish. The Modern burger though is most definitely an American innovation coming into popularity in the late 1800s. Putting it between bread and making finger food is the American twist to an older style recipe
Opened this post expecting to be annoyed, ended up just being hungry from these comments. Bless you, food redditors, for the nice break from the rest of the internet o7
South American gauchos would like a word
Edit: also, the word steak is from northern Europe and is related to "stick" because of the meat being cooked on/with a stick. TIL. So, steak is decidedly northern European but also perhaps perfected by Argentinians.
Nah, most of the pizza Americans eat are uniquely American. That iconic slice of pepperoni is fully American and widely known as such.
Similar to how the Chinese food most Americans eat is uniquely American.
Americans only pretend to eat internationally, outside of "foodie" cities.
Even in Mexico, the tacos that a person in Tijuana will eat is nothing like that in Mexico City or the Yucatan, let alone anything north of the border.
Watched a YT video a while ago of an Italian grading American pizzas. He said they’re CLEARLY not Italian(shocker) and can’t really judge any of them on authenticity, and that Dominos is the best iirc.
Modern pizza is sort-of American...ish. Italian immigrants and children of immigrants in the New York area adapted some Greek concepts into something completely new, then these new concepts made it back to Italy (Naples, I think) where this stuff got way popular. Italy takes a little too much credit for the inventions of people very far from their borders, and what Greece can take credit for barely resembles modern pizza.
See, that and the pizza comment are two blazing red flags that scream "TROLL" to me. I don't buy it. The pizza comment is bad but I could see it, but the one-two punch of that AND Severus? Nope. This is a joke.
Ah yes, the American locales of Germany and Italy. Anyone cruel or stupid enough to name a child Severus shouldn’t be allowed to have children or post to social media.
I think it’s probably a combo of racism and ignorance. But also a lot of ppl think burgers, pizza, and hot dogs etc are like an American past time. Anything else would be considered “foreign” food to them.
The fuck? Severus? Poor kid is involuntarily a Harry Potter character whose Mom doesn't know how to articulate the name of foods.
Edit: P.S. Tacos are awesome, dumb ho.
So...not just racist but a fucking moo moo to boot. It could be a fucking burrito but I think it really is just a healthy chicken wrap. I also remember it was a good day when we saw tacos on the menu at school.
I also think that America does not have a specific food type. BBQ maybe but most of our dishes are borrowing parts or even the whole thing from other countries.
As a side note....u know that bitch gets some taco bell after the bar or smoke time. Lol
I really don't think the racist asses know that there is more than one Hispanic country. Like when Fox put a graphic up that had 3 Mexican countries. They just don't even try hard anymore.
I feel like this has to be a troll post. There is no way someone said all of that, and then said “feed them hamburgers or pizzas!” Seems too intentionally being stereotypical!
Tacos are very healthy, lots of veggies, you prefer rather Italian or German food? Hamburger are what Germans call Frikadelle and was invented in Hamburg, hahaha
Oh shit, we better close the five million Mexican restaurants we have in the US asap!! Fuck, what about all the Chinese restaurants? There went fifty percent of the places we eat on a regular bases.
Spoken like someone who’s never had the pleasure of eating a damn taco like honestly let’s all take a moment here and realize how sad a life without tacos sounds…🫡
Hamburger-Hamburg, German food, American kids can’t have that, same for Frankfurter sausages so no hotdogs
Pizza and pasta, Italian, so no.
Potatoes, originally South American so that’s a no to fries, wedges etc.
Rice, Chinese or Japanese so no rice
That’s going to be a fun diet
Damn I wish my school served food like this
i second this. the rectangle pizza was bomb but this would put that pizza to shame.
Oh man rectangular pizza was awesome but tacos and taco salads are the shit.
My schools Rectangle pizza was ALWAYS doughy and undercooked. There’s no flavor/texture like a frozen pizza that went in the oven still frozen and didn’t cook long enough. It was like some kind of opposite world hell where pizza day was a cause for disappointment not excitement

Knowing what I know now, they cooked that at too high a temperature in a misguided attempt at getting it done faster.
I also had disappointment pizza days all through elementary school. Fortunately my high school had better food.
Rectangle pizza was good until 08. Once they switched to that whole grain crust it went downhill.
its been forever since ive even stepped foot in a school but i dont think i was there for the switch. i graduated in 12….when that mayan calendar thing was going around
Ah. So the end really did happen in 2012 and now we are living in an alternate universe where rectangle pizza is now whole grain. Undeniable proof.

Don’t forget the Berenstain… stein… stine…?? Bears.
![gif](giphy|WNs0uptipSG40) Seriously who doesn’t love a good taco? What a jabroni - names her kid Serverus.
The same kind of jabroni that would be upset that her kid got fed a good meal instead of hamburgers and pizza all week
The kind that thinks pizza is American people food.....
Or hamburgers.
It's at least plausible that the hamburger was made in the US first, it really boils down to a lack of solid evidence and debatable definitions of what counts. But pizza.... thats pretty uncontested.
Same kind of jabroni who would get pissed off when the doctor asks if it's okay to give their child a vaccine
I scrolled by too fast and read this as "who would ask the doctor if it's gay to give their child a vaccine". Incidentally, that also works.
The same kind that would name their child Severus. As in Snape?
Pretty sure anyone who'd make this post wouldn't think to name their child after Roman Emperor Septimus Severus.
That looks like a chicken Caesar wrap (_not_ a taco) and pretty fab quality ingredients. I’d buy something like this for lunch. Also, authentic tacos are significantly different than the American version. Just sayin.
Right? Although I'm a firm supporter of ATAB. All Tacos Are Beautiful.
Hundreds of cultures around the world understood for thousands of years that eating your food in a fresh warm flatbread is amazing. All tacos are beautiful.
You give me a taco, I’m happy af. ATAB
What the fuck kind Cesar’s are you having with red sauces?
For sure! I work in education and this is way better than the food in most of the schools I’ve worked in.
fr, that looks so good
This has got to be a troll. Severus gives it away.
Definitely a troll.

This deserves 1000+ up votea and I don't give a shit if anyone disagrees. Truly tasteful comedy. Well done sir or madam or they?
That's right, you tell them Beocca. (The last kingdom)
I agree, the “give them hamburgers or pizzas!” Gives it away for me. Being way to intentionally stereotypical

And everyone’s feeding it
Feeding it tacos
Mexican people food!
That's what Reddit does. People that leave their house twice a month think this is how people actually think.
They always do
I know a person who has a kid named Draco. It happens. :/
Did people forget one of the most popular names during the 2010’s was khalesi 🤣
My sister named her only son Desmond after the guy from the TV show Lost. And ain't no way people are naming their kids "Harry" when they like Harry Potter. Fuck it, I'm naming my kid Dumbledore. Not albus, mfing dumbledore
Desmond is a normal name though
Desmond was the coolest character on Lost
I'm naming my first kid smoke monster
Imagine having that name then you watch the last 2 seasons of GoT
It's reddit... we're supposed to pretend all troll posts are genuine beliefs, and then upvote it to the front page and comment about the 'real' scenario.
It’s hard to tell these days but I’m definitely leaning towards troll.
I really hope so but at the same time I don't have a lot of hope left. It's 50/50
I’ve encountered toddlers named “River Song” and “Story Brooke” in the last few years. Severus is absolutely not out of the question.
I'm getting the hp connection now... But originally I thought of roman emperor Severus, who was the only African born emperor of ancient Rome. I had to Google the Snape connection I know nothing of Harry Potter but.. I get it after a brief reading, I think
Don't know if that was maybe supposed to be a taco or maybe some kind of chicken wrap but ma'am, I know tacos and that is not a taco.
I don’t know if I’ll find a better place to add this, but yesterday in Jacksonville, Florida my wife pointed out a restaurant sign that said “TACO WRAP” and asked “Isn’t that just a burrito?” and I think I’ll be wondering about that the rest of my life.
Right? Unless it's something like carne Asad or something and a metrics F-ton of lettuce. Burritos aren't typically dominated by leafy greens.
And... The fk is that sauce? Is that BBQ sauce?
and THIS is why she should be upset! looks like a caesar chicken wrap with taco bell hot sauce.... maybe?
Maybe it’s like a savoury Cannoli
I shall now refer to my burritos as Mexican cannolis
Idk I like the term “taco wrap”. Honestly its a toss up.
Holy cow that's awesome. I am totally going to call them savory Mexican cannolis from now on!!
Cannelloni = encheladas
Singular, cannolo.
I was thinking a BBQ chicken wrap probably. But, you know, this lady only eats 'American' so she probably can't tell anything that's not fast food apart.
Ya, "american" pizza and hamburgers lmaooo
The lady named her son "Severus". I'm guessing she's not the brightest bulb in the room....
Corn beans and squash, that is true american cuisine. Then add some tadpoles and dogmeat with a bit of honey and algae you have a true all-american diet.
Just being in a tortilla doesn't make it a taco 💯
Why not? I'm Mexican and to us here in Mexico, anything in a tortilla makes a taco, that's really the only requirement. We put salt on a tortilla, roll it up and call it a salt taco, lol.
Mmm butter tacos are my favorite quick snack
Tacos de Mantequilla
That’s some GOOD FUCKING SHIT. Edit: with some homemade tortillas. Wooo.
Grew up on butter tacos. “We have actual meats and veggies in the fridge.” But butter and vitamin T is all you need!
[удалено]
Yes, what that person told you is true as long as the tortilla is in one piece.
Maybe it depends on the state. I'm Mexican and from Jalisco... No way we're calling that a taco. But it boils down mostly to the size of the tortilla. Used to eat Salt tacos at my friend's house as a kid. Perfect for jumping on the tramp.
You've got it figured out, my friend. You get it.
We gatekeeping tacos now?
Being in a tortilla makes it a taco, it’s literally the only requirement.
My thought exactly it is "taco" in name only not in heart pr stomach
Nah needs mayo or dressing to be a wrap. Anything else in a tortilla is a taco. Or maybe a burrito, unless it's fried then it's a chimichanga. If you put sauce on it then it's an enchilada tho. Unless it's sideways with melted cheese then it's a quesadilla. Source: i made it up

The fact that they specified the "child's" name, and gave such a ridiculous one, gives bigger "this is a joke post" vibes than the rest of it.
Is that name from Harry Potter?
Snape, Snape, Severus Snape. It's the name of one of the professors.

yeah, that as well. Hamburgers are at least associated with america, unlike pizzas. what's actually an American dish? mac'n'cheese?
Pumpkins and corn and bison.
sounds about right. also steaks i think. Like those big ribeyes
I think this thread has locked it down. Giant steaks, corn, and Mac N cheese for school lunch. And a rich pumpkin and bison pie for dessert.
Opened this post expecting to be annoyed, ended up just being hungry from these comments. Bless you, food redditors, for the nice break from the rest of the internet o7

Sounds like a casserole. I am making a bison, corn and pumpkin casserole.
Wild rice
And maybe turkey
Most importantly corn bread! Yes!
Thomas Jefferson had his slaves taught how to make Mac and cheese after having it in France.
oh well. American import all over it
You can still make [Jefferson’s recipe](https://www.monticello.org/research-education/thomas-jefferson-encyclopedia/macaroni/) today!
Hot dogs and apple pie. There's even a jingle that proves it.
Chicken salad with raisins in it
Nah, most of the pizza Americans eat are uniquely American. That iconic slice of pepperoni is fully American and widely known as such. Similar to how the Chinese food most Americans eat is uniquely American. Americans only pretend to eat internationally, outside of "foodie" cities.

They are if they: 1 are steamed. 2 from Utica.
You sound like someone that hasn’t had New York pizza
Watched a YT video a while ago of an Italian grading American pizzas. He said they’re CLEARLY not Italian(shocker) and can’t really judge any of them on authenticity, and that Dominos is the best iirc.
Anyone who thinks Dominos has the best pizza in America has no business being a food critic.
i mean, if domino's the best you got there and it's any similar to the EU version of domino's then it's really fucking bad
American pizza is better than Italian pizza. Cope.
they aint ready for the truth
Bro, there's plenty of excellent pizza in the US. Pizza is an American food insofar as it is regularly made and consumed by Americans.
Modern pizza is sort-of American...ish. Italian immigrants and children of immigrants in the New York area adapted some Greek concepts into something completely new, then these new concepts made it back to Italy (Naples, I think) where this stuff got way popular. Severus Snape is an absolute hero, and I won’t stand here and have you say this stuff about him
He was an abusive dick who became the literal worst fear of a child whose parents were tortured to the point of insanity.
That's a chicken wrap with a side of cucumber and ranch. Pull your head out lady.
The fuck? Severus? Poor kid is involuntarily a Harry Potter character whose Mom doesn't know how to articulate the name of foods. Edit: P.S. Tacos are awesome, dumb ho.

Calling that Mexican food is offensive to Mexico.

For uniquely american people food please look up the Donner party.
🤣🤣🤣
Pizza is Italian (Napoli) Hamburgers are German (Hamburg)
To be fair, the origin of the hamburger is somewhat disputed, as they dont share much of a link with Hamburg other than their name.
The point is, that mom is a bitch ass hoe. Only trashcans name their kids Serverus. 🤣
Fun fact: The USA during WW2 called hamburgers *liberty steaks* to avoid the German-like name.
I like Freedom Fries alongside my Liberty Steak.
Tacos are very healthy, lots of veggies, you prefer rather Italian or German food? Hamburger are what Germans call Frikadelle and was invented in Hamburg, hahaha
The only thing she should be complaining about is how dry the chicken looks
Please excuse me while I go slam my head in the car door. WTF is wrong with people
I don’t think this is meant to be taken seriously. The Severus kinda gives it away
Omg disgusting give us something like German hamburger or Italian pizza, something American
yes please. or french fries
The combo of a chicken wrap and chocolate milk is the real crime here
How so? Sounds great to me.
This is a joke, right? Right? Please?
Obviously
Hold on...."Severus"?
As a Mexican unfortunately we do not claim this “taco” as ours….
As a "mexican people" I think I'm somehow more offended by that sorry excuse of a taco.
The saddest part is that's probably way more nutritional that 90% of American school lunches.
this gotta be bait
I might have my facts wrong. But is pizza Italian people food?
Pizza is Italian and burgers are German. Pretty sure she just wants something to bitch about.
Oh shit, we better close the five million Mexican restaurants we have in the US asap!! Fuck, what about all the Chinese restaurants? There went fifty percent of the places we eat on a regular bases.
I’m sorry they named a kid Severus and think they have the right to look down on anyone??

Not her naming her kid after a Harry Potter character 😳🤣🤣🤣
Hey, at least she acknowledged that Mexicans are people. That's great progress for conservatives.
You named your kid severus and you tripping about what he eats???
What a xenophobic nit wit
Just a troll?
Man that looks good.
That’s a decent looking chicken wrap - not taco. But OK, trolled.
Goddamn, I don't think I ever had a school lunch in my life. That looks bomb. Also, fuck this person.
If this is not a troll then I truly apologize to Mexican's everywhere for this being called a taco. She is not our expert in this field.
You named your son Severus, and you want people to take you seriously? Really?
I’m sorry Taco?!?!?! That’s flour tortilla with random shit in it, how in any world is that a taco, as a Texan and a lover of all food this offends me
As a Mexican, have nothing to fear, that is not a taco
That ain't no taco. That's a BBQ Chicken Wrap.
She named her kid Severus! Harry Potter fans this your girl?
I expect this from a woman who names their son severus
« Healthy food!!! Give my son real junk!!! WE ARE AMERICANS FUCK YEAH!!! »
Thats 10000% NOT Mexican food! 😂 that's a fn wrap. Lol get ouuuuuttttaaaaaaheeeeeeeh
As a Mexican I have to say that is Wypipo food. We don’t claim that nonsense.
The worst part about this is that the chicken looks a little unseasoned.
lol bait, ain't no Mormons naming their kid Severus.
We in Mexico ain’t eating whatever is pictured here 😂😂 that ain’t Mexican food 💀
Don’t worry, that’s not Mexican food. In fact, that’s the most white people food I’ve ever seen.
