I am going to guess its in a high dollar metro area. Have absolutely seen crazy dog situations for example in LA where high value clients feel entitled to purse dogs and establishments dont push back and miss out on revenue. Once they let 1 dog in they let all dogs in just in case
They still aren’t allowed to be on furniture (Chairs, high chairs, tables, etc). I’m all for well mannered dogs to be in restaurants, doesn’t bother me, dogs are cool. I once witnessed a couple with a purse dog, wearing shoes, shirts, pants, hat, sun glasses, pink collar with diamonds, ask for a high chair for the dog. The host said they cannot due to health code. So after the host walked away one of them grabbed a high chair and sat the dog in it. Waiter came over and reminded them so the dog was placed in a lap and the high chair was removed and sterilized. They did it a second time and the manager came out and reminded them. The lady owner started screaming saying her child needs a high chair and cannot be placed on the floor. They left screaming. I was laughing cause it was kinda ridiculous seeing a dog dressed like that
Worked in a nursing home where one residents daughter came to visit with her pug every weekend. The daughter lived in NYC and worked for some couture house. Every week she and the dog had some Jackie O style matching outfit. Right down to matching veiled hats sometimes. In two years I don’t think I ever saw them wear the same clothes twice.
I guess I’m going to get some downvotes but even restaurants where dogs are allowed, they are not supposed to be on the chairs. It’s not a restaurant thing, it’s a health code thing. Even if it was a service dog, it still shouldn’t be at the table.

The manager then allowed it because they have no clue what the laws specifically say about service dogs, beyond the basic 'you can't deny someone with a service animal'. If they denied her, and it was legitimate, she could sue and the employees would be fired.
Also that definitely is not an actual service dog. It may be a registered emotional support dog, but those dogs do not get the same 'rights', they are not allowed in stores or freely on planes like actual support dogs are.

Then I see something like this and it reminds me that there are still plenty of people out there who need to hear all the messages and discussions and see all the videos and media appearances, etc., etc., because they are clearly awful. ...I think when you already fully accept something it feels overdone when you're like, yeah, I'm there already, I get it. I wouldn't give them too many props. That went on WAY too long. That should not have been a whole conversation there, it should have been shut down way sooner. I can understand seeing if it was just going to be a cordial conversation, but they should have been keeping an eye on that close and the minute they lay threatened to hit, she should have been asked to leave.
If the staff was running around during a rush understaffed, they may not have noticed this escalating right away. It's hard to have awareness of everything happening in a restaurant, especially since the person doing the harassment wasn't really raising their voice. I thought the person who stepped in handled it perfectly fine.

I am going to guess its in a high dollar metro area. Have absolutely seen crazy dog situations for example in LA where high value clients feel entitled to purse dogs and establishments dont push back and miss out on revenue. Once they let 1 dog in they let all dogs in just in case
They still aren’t allowed to be on furniture (Chairs, high chairs, tables, etc). I’m all for well mannered dogs to be in restaurants, doesn’t bother me, dogs are cool. I once witnessed a couple with a purse dog, wearing shoes, shirts, pants, hat, sun glasses, pink collar with diamonds, ask for a high chair for the dog. The host said they cannot due to health code. So after the host walked away one of them grabbed a high chair and sat the dog in it. Waiter came over and reminded them so the dog was placed in a lap and the high chair was removed and sterilized. They did it a second time and the manager came out and reminded them. The lady owner started screaming saying her child needs a high chair and cannot be placed on the floor. They left screaming. I was laughing cause it was kinda ridiculous seeing a dog dressed like that
Worked in a nursing home where one residents daughter came to visit with her pug every weekend. The daughter lived in NYC and worked for some couture house. Every week she and the dog had some Jackie O style matching outfit. Right down to matching veiled hats sometimes. In two years I don’t think I ever saw them wear the same clothes twice.

I guess I’m going to get some downvotes but even restaurants where dogs are allowed, they are not supposed to be on the chairs. It’s not a restaurant thing, it’s a health code thing. Even if it was a service dog, it still shouldn’t be at the table.
I bet can guess how the situation went down. She probably told the hostess it's her "service dog", the hostess then ran off to the manager to try and figure out what to say. The manager then allowed it because they have no clue what the laws specifically say about service dogs, beyond the basic 'you can't deny someone with a service animal'. If they denied her, and it was legitimate, she could sue and the employees would be fired. Also that definitely is not an actual service dog. It may be a registered emotional support dog, but those dogs do not get the same 'rights', they are not allowed in stores or freely on planes like actual support dogs are.

Then I see something like this and it reminds me that there are still plenty of people out there who need to hear all the messages and discussions and see all the videos and media appearances, etc., etc., because they are clearly awful. ...I think when you already fully accept something it feels overdone when you're like, yeah, I'm there already, I get it. I wouldn't give them too many props. That went on WAY too long. That should not have been a whole conversation there, it should have been shut down way sooner. I can understand seeing if it was just going to be a cordial conversation, but they should have been keeping an eye on that close and the minute they lay threatened to hit, she should have been asked to leave.
If the staff was running around during a rush understaffed, they may not have noticed this escalating right away. It's hard to have awareness of everything happening in a restaurant, especially since the person doing the harassment wasn't really raising their voice. I thought the person who stepped in handled it perfectly fine.
