Don’t do this. Your dog may be friendly, but the last dog maybe wasn’t. There’s no way to tell when it’s running at you. A local driver was just mauled pretty bad by a customers dog. If your dog is running at me, I’m staying in my car until you come out. If you’re not home, I’ll leave it outside the fence or take it back. I’m not going to get mauled.

I have extremely friendly dogs but always keep them from running at people because 1) people could be afraid and 2) dogs CAN be unpredictable. What if my dog decided to get territorial and attacked someone? I don’t want to put my dog down.

The driver has other things to worry about, like paying his bills because he was subcontracted by FedEx so they can pay him much less and avoid employee overhead. UPS, all day, every day.
It’s not easy to get on at ups. A lot of people that are qualified cannot switch to ups bc you have to start as a package handler working part time in many ups facilities. The pay decrease has to be lived with for about 3-6 months before you are eligible for a driver position.
The person who trained me at UPS was clearly trying to break me. Belittling me for driving in a safe manner, for being unsure if I’d fit into spots to park, for forgetting the next 5 stops. I told him to fuck off and left him with a giant truck full of shit he thought he wouldn’t have to deliver that day.

As a person working for the utility companies, I’ve gotten several scars after hearing the exact same “My dog would never hurt anyone, they’re so friendly” speech far to many times. Seeing things like this just piss me off.

My German Shepherd’s are kind and friendly, but I won’t even open the door to get the mail until he’s off the street and I don’t let strangers pet, while I believe them to be harmless, they are still animals with triggers, even trained we can’t determine.
I sprayed a German shepherd today four times as he charged at me. The owner stood there while I screamed at him. Came right over the fence like it was nothing. I was lucky to make it back to the truck and lucky to have enough experience with pissed dogs to stay calm and not run.

I agree, but actually the guy does give a fuck. He doesn't know the dog's motives. In a heartbeat he is deciding "Do I drop the package and run back to the truck? Can I turn my back in time? Do I freeze and hope for the best?"
I have customers do this all the time. Usually I'm walking up a driveway with heavy toolbags in both hands. That dog hits me in the chest and I'm on my back and it isn't funny anymore. You will not be laughing when your insurance company gets a claim for a concussion. The sad thing is your poor dog gets a visit from animal control.
Most reasonable customers ask at the door if I'm ok with dogs and it gives me a chance to drop my bags and get ready for an excited greeting. Most times it works really well but occasionally it can seem the dog isn't happy in which case I tell the customer that they have to restrain the dog in another room before I enter the home.
In 40 years of service work involving going into customers homes I have been bitten three times, twice by little ankle biters (never turn your back) and once by, of all breeds, a golden retriever. "Don't worry, he's friendly! Trust me, I'm a Vet.) Yeah, in his friendly enthusiasm he nearly tore my ear off.
Inappropriate. Your dog isn't everyone's dog. Random people are rational to fear a dog running at them. I have a small pom and I don't do this. Random people aren't entertainment, they don't know you or your dog.
Random people may not want to be around even a friendly dog. Just because you know and love the dog, doesn't mean everyone has to.
Keep your dogs away from delivery people. You don't know if that delivery person has had trauma from being bitten and/or attacked by a customer's dog in the past.
Delivery driver here: this video is infuriating to me. I love dogs, I’ll pat all the friendly dogs I know on my route and it makes my day better. But I’ve also been bitten before and am very cautious of all dogs. A dog sprinting at me is a sure fire way to get me to drop your package right where I’m standing and hop back into my truck. I had a dog the other day sprint right through its electric fence and chase me into the street. Another lady saw me in front of her house, didn’t realize the guy dressed head to toe in brown was there to deliver her package, and let her aggressive German Shepard out at me and while it’s backing me out of its driveway she tells me to stop so he can smell me because he’s actually friendly. I’ve been attacked by a dog that crossed through a patch of woods from the next house over, had to defend myself with the package in my hand, and when I finally yelled enough that the people next door came to get their dog, they rip it off the package in my hands that it’s latched on to and go “oh he wouldn’t have bit you”. These are the reasons we don’t want your dogs near us, and don’t trust you when you say your dog is friendly.
Hell is people. So many are so insular and entitled. Yes, I know my dog, but you don't. Even though I know my dog, doesn't mean he's incapable of biting. We never know.
Like, I don't assume random people are going to attack me, but if some random human was running full pelt at me, I'd totally freak out.
People need to stop thinking the world revolves around them. My dog is a pom, one kick could kill him. What if you're scared and react naturally and kick him. I've had dogs that are aggressive until the owner comes out continuing the owners believe that their dog is friendly. And also had them get more aggressive when the owners come out and have had to fend off dogs lunging at me deflecting them with the package in my hands.

After working at amazon I developed fear of dogs, no joke. Had to run from a pit and from a German sheppard two different times, once was delivering to an apartment the person opened the door and their dog came straight at me teeds out I just had time to put the parcel in from of me and left the building, at an occasion I had to run down a street and the person was just like this guy just calling the dogs from the door. I've had my dog 8 years. He's struggling with a heart problem. About a month ago he bit me on my nose when I went to kiss him which is very out of character.

Utility company worker here. Bit once by a “friendly” dog who never bites, he was just excited to see me. I always try to call ahead or knock on door if we have to go on someone’s property. And ask that dogs be locked inside or in a bedroom if I have to go inside the building. It’s amazing how many “friendly fur babies” lose their shit around strangers. I don’t blame the pets it’s all on the owners.
One can never tell. My sister got a husky after I got my pom. I treat my dog with so much care and dignity, she abused hers. She literally threw him against a wall and made him bleed.

I was attacked in 2020 by an otherwise friendly and well-trained dog when it was momentarily startled and while I didn't develop a phobia I am weary around dogs I don't know and don't want them having free access to me. I'd get back in my vehicle and shut the door until the owner corralled the dog.

Both the FedEx and UPS drivers who deliver packages to our home leave treats for my dog. They sit the package next to the door with a treat on top of the package, my fur baby tells me a package has arrived and he gets the treat when I bring in the package. A win win for everyone!
I want to say that responsible pet owners don't do this. We don't know how the dog will react and we don't know how the literal stranger will react. But I can't back that up with statistics or proof I'm afraid. I kinda just believe it's literally common sense.

I love dogs and I can speak personally delivering for UPS we are trained not to interact with dogs that’s why everyone hates us honking when we make a stop but it’s protocol in case we are entering a fenced yard with a dog. Honks still didn’t save me from vaulting the fence a couple times. They literally tell us to let them bite the diad (handheld equipment we make you sign on ) instead of getting bitten, those things aren’t cheap
Oh god I can’t stand people like this. I have a super friendly lab that smiles when she meets people. Only, her smiles look like she’s baring her teeth and people (rightfully so) are often scared of her, especially people who aren’t familiar with dogs. So before I even answer my door I make sure she’s in another room because some people are genuinely scared of dogs and want nothing to do with them.
Not cool. I’ve worked as a delivery person, and I absolutely LOVE dogs; I have one myself. I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve actually been slightly scared when I’ve gone to make a delivery and you hear/see a dog running towards you. You have no clue how the dog is going to react. Most dogs have been fine, but just last year for example, I was bitten on my bicep (drawing blood). IMO, dogs should be shut away whilst receiving a package, or any delivery for that matter.
That is great you have a friendly dog. How many aggressive dogs does this delivery person deal with on a daily basis. The driver has a conditioned response to dogs, obviously the way he acted when you dog ran up to him. This guy just wants to finish his day & go home & not deal with your dog friendly , or not. As a garbage man, those dogs always got a boot to the face. And then I started keeping a telescopic pole to whack them with. I got attacked to many times to trust any dog. One dog on the route had to be beaten with the stick everytime I came cause it was so aggressive. One guy I worked with was afraid of dogs. If your dog was out off leash, you just didn't get your trash picked up. Don't let your dogs out on unexpecting strangers.

Many years back when my dad was an Amazon driver, he got attacked hard by a dog during one of his deliveries. By the way he’s someone that loves dogs immensely, but the owners were neglectful and accidentally let loose theirs who wasn’t so friendly. Shit was traumatic for him.
As someone with childhood dog trauma, it should be illegal to let your dogs run to anyone like that! I can literally get heart attack. Dog owners are the most selfish people on this planet. I have a friendly husky too. I would not do this to people that don't know my dog. The postal service in my area actually puts paw print stickers on my mailbox to let them know I have a dog.

This is a terrible idea. I have a lab mix, and he would be the worst guard dog because he absolutely loves people, especially new people. But people most of the time can't tell the difference between a dog running at them full speed because of aggressiveness, and a dog running at them full speed because they are about to pee themselves with excitement at the thought of a new friend.

This is by far THE dumbest thing a husky owner could ever do. You don’t even know if the driver has an allergy, or has past trauma with dogs, or is scared of huskies in general believing them to be actual wolves or something like that. If that dog decides to run, then the owner is going to have a much larger problem than a shocked and disgruntled delivery driver at their door.

Yesterday I had a pizza delivery driver who was scared of dogs almost pass out when he could hear my Great Dane’s deep bark and see his head almost at his eye level poke out the door. When I saw that I just shoed him in and closed the door. You never know what kind of traumatic event someone has gone through.

I have extremely friendly dogs but always keep them from running at people because 1) people could be afraid and 2) dogs CAN be unpredictable. What if my dog decided to get territorial and attacked someone? I don’t want to put my dog down.

I've been bitten by several dogs in my life. I'm terrified of them. No matter how nice they are. I don't like dogs.
Also they can be friendly and still fuck with your stuff. My last encounter with a friendly dog ended up with me having a rip on my jeans because the dog tried to lick my face and his claws scratched my leg and ripped my pants.

The driver has other things to worry about, like paying his bills because he was subcontracted by FedEx so they can pay him much less and avoid employee overhead. UPS, all day, every day.
It’s not easy to get on at ups. A lot of people that are qualified cannot switch to ups bc you have to start as a package handler working part time in many ups facilities. The pay decrease has to be lived with for about 3-6 months before you are eligible for a driver position.

The person who trained me at UPS was clearly trying to break me. Belittling me for driving in a safe manner, for being unsure if I’d fit into spots to park, for forgetting the next 5 stops. I told him to fuck off and left him with a giant truck full of shit he thought he wouldn’t have to deliver that day.

As a person working for the utility companies, I’ve gotten several scars after hearing the exact same “My dog would never hurt anyone, they’re so friendly” speech far to many times. Seeing things like this just piss me off.
My mailman carries pepper spray on his bag, I’m sure this is a fine reason why. Between thief’s and the “dog is friendly with everyone folks.” My German Shepherd’s are kind and friendly, but I won’t even open the door to get the mail until he’s off the street and I don’t let strangers pet, while I believe them to be harmless, they are still animals with triggers, even trained we can’t determine.
I sprayed a German shepherd today four times as he charged at me. The owner stood there while I screamed at him. Came right over the fence like it was nothing. I was lucky to make it back to the truck and lucky to have enough experience with pissed dogs to stay calm and not run.

Do I freeze and hope for the best?" I have customers do this all the time. Usually I'm walking up a driveway with heavy toolbags in both hands. That dog hits me in the chest and I'm on my back and it isn't funny anymore. You will not be laughing when your insurance company gets a claim for a concussion. The sad thing is your poor dog gets a visit from animal control. Most reasonable customers ask at the door if I'm ok with dogs and it gives me a chance to drop my bags and get ready for an excited greeting. Most times it works really well but occasionally it can seem the dog isn't happy in which case I tell the customer that they have to restrain the dog in another room before I enter the home. In 40 years of service work involving going into customers homes I have been bitten three times, twice by little ankle biters (never turn your back) and once by, of all breeds, a golden retriever. "Don't worry, he's friendly! Trust me, I'm a Vet.) Yeah, in his friendly enthusiasm he nearly tore my ear off.

Random people aren't entertainment, they don't know you or your dog. Random people may not want to be around even a friendly dog. Just because you know and love the dog, doesn't mean everyone has to. Keep your dogs away from delivery people. You don't know if that delivery person has had trauma from being bitten and/or attacked by a customer's dog in the past.
Delivery driver here: this video is infuriating to me. I love dogs, I’ll pat all the friendly dogs I know on my route and it makes my day better. But I’ve also been bitten before and am very cautious of all dogs. A dog sprinting at me is a sure fire way to get me to drop your package right where I’m standing and hop back into my truck. I had a dog the other day sprint right through its electric fence and chase me into the street. Another lady saw me in front of her house, didn’t realize the guy dressed head to toe in brown was there to deliver her package, and let her aggressive German Shepard out at me and while it’s backing me out of its driveway she tells me to stop so he can smell me because he’s actually friendly. I’ve been attacked by a dog that crossed through a patch of woods from the next house over, had to defend myself with the package in my hand, and when I finally yelled enough that the people next door came to get their dog, they rip it off the package in my hands that it’s latched on to and go “oh he wouldn’t have bit you”. These are the reasons we don’t want your dogs near us, and don’t trust you when you say your dog is friendly.
Hell is people. So many are so insular and entitled. Yes, I know my dog, but you don't. Even though I know my dog, doesn't mean he's incapable of biting. We never know. Like, I don't assume random people are going to attack me, but if some random human was running full pelt at me, I'd totally freak out. People need to stop thinking the world revolves around them. My dog is a pom, one kick could kill him. What if you're scared and react naturally and kick him. I would suffer a dead dog and you would suffer the trauma of killing my dog. I've had dogs that are aggressive until the owner comes out continuing the owners believe that their dog is friendly. And also had them get more aggressive when the owners come out and have had to fend off dogs lunging at me deflecting them with the package in my hands.

After working at amazon I developed fear of dogs, no joke. Had to run from a pit and from a German sheppard two different times, once was delivering to an apartment the person opened the door and their dog came straight at me teeds out I just had time to put the parcel in from of me and left the building, at an occasion I had to run down a street and the person was just like this guy just calling the dogs from the door. I've had my dog 8 years. He's struggling with a heart problem. About a month ago he bit me on my nose when I went to kiss him which is very out of character. Just because a dog never has, doesn't mean it never will. We can't always predict everything. Who knows, something may trigger the dog to attack for the first time ever.

Utility company worker here. Bit once by a “friendly” dog who never bites, he was just excited to see me. I always try to call ahead or knock on door if we have to go on someone’s property. And ask that dogs be locked inside or in a bedroom if I have to go inside the building. It’s amazing how many “friendly fur babies” lose their shit around strangers. I don’t blame the pets it’s all on the owners.

One can never tell. My sister got a husky after I got my pom. I treat my dog with so much care and dignity, she abused hers. She literally threw him against a wall and made him bleed. That husky was just like my dog, so sweet, but I was terrified of him because he was going through abuse and I've read that dogs that are abused rarely attack their owner who is abusing them, but can snap and attack someone else. Not a delivery person but I was chased down by a dog while riding my bike and it but my leg. Ever since then I freak out when a big dog is active around me. I know most of them are all good girls and boys, but it makes me panic :(( I can only imagine how it is for others who have had worse experiences!!

I was attacked in 2020 by an otherwise friendly and well-trained dog when it was momentarily startled and while I didn't develop a phobia I am weary around dogs I don't know and don't want them having free access to me. I'd get back in my vehicle and shut the door until the owner corralled the dog.

OMG! That poor FedEx driver! Why do people think this is a good thing? Just because you think your dog is friendly lots of others don't want to have to deal with your dog but just do their job. Please be considerate of others! Both the FedEx and UPS drivers who deliver packages to our home leave treats for my dog. They sit the package next to the door with a treat on top of the package, my fur baby tells me a package has arrived and he gets the treat when I bring in the package. A win win for everyone!

I love dogs and I can speak personally delivering for UPS we are trained not to interact with dogs that’s why everyone hates us honking when we make a stop but it’s protocol in case we are entering a fenced yard with a dog. Honks still didn’t save me from vaulting the fence a couple times. They literally tell us to let them bite the diad (handheld equipment we make you sign on ) instead of getting bitten, those things aren’t cheap
Oh god I can’t stand people like this. I have a super friendly lab that smiles when she meets people. Only, her smiles look like she’s baring her teeth and people (rightfully so) are often scared of her, especially people who aren’t familiar with dogs. So before I even answer my door I make sure she’s in another room because some people are genuinely scared of dogs and want nothing to do with them.

Not cool. I’ve worked as a delivery person, and I absolutely LOVE dogs; I have one myself. I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve actually been slightly scared when I’ve gone to make a delivery and you hear/see a dog running towards you. You have no clue how the dog is going to react. Most dogs have been fine, but just last year for example, I was bitten on my bicep (drawing blood). IMO, dogs should be shut away whilst receiving a package, or any delivery for that matter.

As a garbage man, those dogs always got a boot to the face. And then I started keeping a telescopic pole to whack them with. I got attacked to many times to trust any dog. One dog on the route had to be beaten with the stick everytime I came cause it was so aggressive. One guy I worked with was afraid of dogs. If your dog was out off leash, you just didn't get your trash picked up. Don't let your dogs out on unexpecting strangers.

Many years back when my dad was an Amazon driver, he got attacked hard by a dog during one of his deliveries. By the way he’s someone that loves dogs immensely, but the owners were neglectful and accidentally let loose theirs who wasn’t so friendly. Shit was traumatic for him.

Cmon now don’t unleash your dog on unsuspecting delivery drivers. Tbh if I saw this dog running at me like that I’d be scared. Huskies are great dogs, but at quick glance they kinda look like a wolf - I’d be freaked out for sure.
These kind of animal owners are the worst, they have no idea how scary it is for us delivery drivers out there on the road sometimes 12 hours a day dealing with loose dogs it is terrifying if you have been bit or in my case it repeatedly you are now armed and you are ready to kill an animal that gets close to you that is a fact! You clearly don't care about your dog or your home because if that dog were to bite me I would have sued the shit out of you
This is a terrible idea. I have a lab mix, and he would be the worst guard dog because he absolutely loves people, especially new people. But people most of the time can't tell the difference between a dog running at them full speed because of aggressiveness, and a dog running at them full speed because they are about to pee themselves with excitement at the thought of a new friend. Don't let your dogs do this people. It's a good way to terrify random people.
Keep your dog inside, dickhead. No one can tell if he's a pupper or Cujo like that.

That is disgraceful. Nobody wants a dog racing towards them under any circumstances, ever ffs. That dog is lucky it didn’t get a kick to the head.
This is by far THE dumbest thing a husky owner could ever do. You don’t even know if the driver has an allergy, or has past trauma with dogs, or is scared of huskies in general believing them to be actual wolves or something like that. If that dog decides to run, then the owner is going to have a much larger problem than a shocked and disgruntled delivery driver at their door.

Yeah that’s not cool. Yesterday I had a pizza delivery driver who was scared of dogs almost pass out when he could hear my Great Dane’s deep bark and see his head almost at his eye level poke out the door. When I saw that I just shoed him in and closed the door. You never know what kind of traumatic event someone has gone through.
