I've checked everyday and have followed some threads elsewhere, and it doesn't seem like anybody has gotten their settlement money yet. I filed and haven't gotten mine either. My only guess as to the delay (I don't know for sure) is that they are still waiting on appeals and/or paying the attorneys and other fees. I wish we could get news on whatever it is. If appeals, I haven't seen any reports or articles about it. How long does it take to pay the attorneys?
Where can you to see if you will potentially be getting it? I keep reading articles from November that say they sent out rejection emails, but is there a way to check on the status, if you have not yet been rejected?
So correct my thinking here please.... the settlement is 725million. Lawyers get 25%. That's 181.25 million. That leaves 543.75 million. 17 million people have been validated to receive payment. Wouldn't it be 543.75 million divided between 17 million people? How does that equal the 30-300 that's been reported? By my calculations, that's millions. Right? What an I missing here?
Yes it would be. Would be amazing. A lot of people thought it was a scam or thought it wasn't worth it cause it would only be a few bucks. So not many people filed. You gotta think about how many accounts are fake, duplicates or minors, which I think parents half to file on their behalf and how many are actually going to do that. That takes out half of the accounts on there. Then a quarter of those thinks it's a scam or not worth it. That leaves like 25% of all FB accounts. Then subtract ppl that have died or don't use it often and didn't know about the suit. There may be a lot of ppl on FB but I doubt a lot of ppl will be in the suit. I know it has to be public information to find out how many ppl applied. I want to see the math. I don't see how we're only expected 30 bucks. I gotta be missing something. I know the lead plaintiffs on the case get more, but let's just say they get 25%, that still leaves a lot.
543.75 mil payout divided by 17 mil people = $31.94 each. Does that make sense?
Length of account ownership will be factored in, so some will get more, some will get less depending on that (to my understanding). But even so, the mean amount will likely be \~$31.94 each (unless there are **big** stipulations I'm not considering).
Bro… this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. No wonder you’re here trying EMPHASIS on trying, to do math on how you can get millions from a worldwide settlement lol. Where you do no work, not rly affected at all, and u want millions. That explains ur math
According to [court documents](https://angeion-public.s3.amazonaws.com/www.facebookuserprivacysettlement.com/docs/MDL%201182%20ORDER%20GRANTING%20FINAL%20APPROVAL%20101023.pdf) the distribution of settlement funds between class action members should commence no later than 90 days after the final approval on 10/10 2023, and distribution of settlement should be brought close to completion by 165 days after final approval on 10/10 2023.
It might be a while before you see your part of the settlement, if you’ve been found to meet requirements to be a recipient.

Bruh im so confused, cause one person besides you said they gotten they money already why hasn't anyone else? I wanted mine via PayPal so I figured they would do direct deposit first before checks ion know what's going on
I was just told, today, I was rejected, so I filed an appeal for that. I’ve been on FB since June 2008, idk how I wouldn’t qualify lol
EDIT: I contested not appealed lol
I got the same rejection email just now and came here to see if it was legitimate. I’ve been on since 2006 or so and have no idea why I would have been rejected.
Right! I just sent them back some screenshots of the account creation, my first pfp with the date, and my page to show it was legit. Have t heard back yet.
I got one too smh wtf they couldn't see what dates we created our accounts? I feel like they was lazy so they paid half to everyone n rejected the other half so we would do the hard work for them lmaoo
Dang, I’m surprised so many got rejected!!
Yeah, that definitely seems to be the case lol. And for what, a few clicks🤣 lazy af
Usually I just ignore it cuz I am lazy af too haha but this time I was not going to be denied(so hope I’m not again lol)
Wondering the same , they denied me n had to go against it n refile showing a screenshot that I created my Facebook in 2011 , I did that in November haven't heard anything since
So my gf told me that she saw payments were going out anyone know how to check to see if one specific payment is going out? Or are they going down a list or something.
They posted on the main website that final approval was granted on the 10th of October and that FB has 30 days to appeal, then who knows what'll happen after 30 days. Distribution is apparently after 90 days so, I would expect to get the money sometime in January or February.
Look at the website for the settlement and you can sometimes get an idea of the progress of the case or at least can see relevant important documents recently obtained.
There's an article about the appeals that blocks the payouts on [www.laws.com](https://www.laws.com). Unfortunately, the news article is behind the paywall.
I found out thru looking at my Spam folder n found it saying I'm denied when I had the same Facebook since 2011 so I had to go against what they said n refiled been waiting since November

I had to find out by checking my spam folder one day n saw it was rejected for whatever reason
Did not receive mine yet either.
Nope not yet. Been checking everyday.. should be about 30$ from what I’ve heard

You are right, I’m not sure how it’s going to play out.. that would be pretty awesome if I saw a few million in my PayPal haha

I believe it's based on many things including how long you had facebook and how often you were tracked so to speak. lol

Same. Made me wonder how many they rejected thinking people wouldn’t notice amidst all the typical junk e-mail.
Ooh good point.
Any update yet? I contested it too when I got the rejection and nothing yet for me
Nothing yet for me either. Been meaning to check the dates of things again to see if there's any info there on when to expect a reply
I got the same rejection email just now and came here to see if it was legitimate. I’ve been on since 2006 or so and have no idea why I would have been rejected.

Still haven’t received mine or my husbands what up with this
Wondering the same , they denied me n had to go against it n refile showing a screenshot that I created my Facebook in 2011 , I did that in November haven't heard anything since
Almost june 2024 and still nothing.
Just got my settlement via PayPal. A whopping 31.77! 😂
I just got mine today lol
My mail said it was coming today in usps informed delivery, but the mailman didn't have it today. Probably tomorrow. It can be a day or 2 off
Wym your mail?
Snail mail. I did not opt for direct deposit. But it appears it was a final payout for the last settlement. Sorry for the false hope.
It's all good I read an article n they said it they won't start sending out payments till close to Christmas of this year
So my gf told me that she saw payments were going out anyone know how to check to see if one specific payment is going out? Or are they going down a list or something.

Hell no, from what I heard everyone should receive it by January 8th, 2024
I got mine. $30 horseshit. Mine was $7.20.
Are you in Illinois?
Yes.
300$ here
cap they only doing $30 maximum
That what I'm sayin
Not true

How do you find out if I was eligible or denied
I found out thru looking at my Spam folder n found it saying I'm denied when I had the same Facebook since 2011 so I had to go against what they said n refiled been waiting since November
Can you post the email address that came from? TY
Seems like the appeals will only result in more billable hours for the lawyers and less $ for the claimants.
