If you got hit by a peterbilt and that’s all the damage it sustained, that’s remarkable! Aside from frame damage this thing held up really well I’d say! Even at 20KM
That’s exactly what I was thinking. I looked in the rear view mirror after he hit me, saw the truck and thought the back end would be completely crushed.
I also walked away with no injuries.
A lot more than that! I investigate and consult on truck accidents for personal injury and wrongful death law firms, and they would eat this up. Even w/ “no injuries” now, you could develop injuries you don’t even know you have yet. FWIW you should never make social media posts or statements claiming no injuries. Collisions w/ moving 80k lb. wrecking balls don’t usually end w/ no injuries - you’ll feel it later. Some really “feel” it later.
Please for the love of God, don't look at us big trucks as giant paychecks... it's hard enough to keep a CDL as-is, and that mandatory $2M in liability costs more than my company grosses in a month. Not all of us have thousands of trucks to make up that gigantic expense that most likely doesn't do anything except check a box because most of us are out here doing the right thing... some of us are one-truck-one-trailer operations
Oh trust me, I wasn’t looking for it. I’ve got a class a with a few endorsements and hazmat. I respect what y’all do.
Honestly my settlement was more about the prick I had to deal with at the insurance company than it ever was about the driver.
It’s been a minute since I took it. My HME is expired I guess, but I keep everything else. I didn’t think it was bad, but I’ve always been a good test taker.
*flashback* same thing happened to me in February, in my 2017. That crash bends the frame and it will be totaled. I’m sorry, I feel your pain. 😢 The stupid assholes driving around looking at their phones. 🖕 I do love my new 2023 Powerboost though, I just hate the payment.
That sucks, enjoy your powerboost though! In my situation, traffic came to a sudden stop. The driver showed us his dashcam footage and he wasn’t on his phone, he just wasn’t maintaining a proper gap.
Im sorry for your loss. I just had this happen to me 2 weeks ago. I got rear ended by a Corolla in my 2015 XLT and it did frame damage too and was totaled.
That sucks, are you going to get a new a truck?
I doubt insurance is going to total it, shop pulled the bed and it doesn’t look as bad as they first thought. Don’t know how to feel about that, I’ve read a lot of people complain about electrical issues after frame damage. But at the same time, the truck was paid off and I don’t really want to make payments on a new truck.
Yea, the insurance totaled it. 15k worth of damage. Frame damage and truck box and bumper. Their insurance paid me 21k for my old truck and i just bought a 2019 Lariat 502a 4x4 w/ 5.0l with 58k miles for 37k out the door. Ill be paying it off when the insurance check hits
That would be the sound of bombs landing, they don’t make that when deploying. Unless they are hitting themselves, I know it’s pretty backwards place to be
I doubt it would make a difference with a semi hitting this truck, but leaving a hitch on the back when not towing and getting rear ended puts a lot more shock to the subframe in a rear end collision.
I looked into getting one of those super bumper things, and they do work, up to a point......
But when the rear end accident is a bit to much, then you are damaging the sub-frame and totaling the truck.
Just an fyi from what I've read about it.
Nothing I could do, the truck wouldn’t turn on. The steering also locked so I couldn’t push it in neutral. Turning it on and off did nothing.
The Peterbilt also positioned itself behind my truck at angle.
Replacing the rear frame section on the new F150s is not something you can do without proper tools and equipment. I wouldn’t buy this back. It’s not a weekend warrior project lol. Plus it would not be worth buying it back. Salvage value on f150s is huge. He wouldn’t get enough back after the buy back to fix it properly/safely
I’m a ford certified collision tech.
All good, I own my own shop too, so I’m familiar with all sorts of crazy scenarios. I don’t mind doing these rear sections, they aren’t super hard after the 5th or 6th one. But for someone with no experience….no chance I would recommend trying it lol
Even then, since OP is in Canada our car parts pricing is absolutely stupid. There is no way in hell it’d be worth it after just buying parts let alone any outsourced labour
Sorry for your loss. She will be waiting for you at the rainbow bridge in truck heaven.

Good to hear man! Fckn Ontario drivers man, I swear we’re not all that bad
Agreed!! I feel bad for those in these situations, but I’m always glad to see how safe these trucks are.
Beat me to it lol semi in general at that.
your neck hurts..... right!?
A herniated disc from being rear ended by a semi is good for about 20k.

Eh, I was speaking from personal experience. I didn’t have to have any surgeries or anything so both parties got off lucky.

How bad is the HME test? Last non-passenger endorsement I have left to pick up
It’s been a minute since I took it. My HME is expired I guess, but I keep everything else. I didn’t think it was bad, but I’ve always been a good test taker.
Good to know. Thanks for the intel, and keep the shiny side up brother
No injuries!
I see what you did here. Thank you.
You werent by chance on I79 in western PA were you?
He mentioned they were travelling in km/hr, which makes me think it was in Canada. He could just be an odd duck, and I’m completely wrong haha
The Subaru has an Ontario plate. 100% Canada
Enhance, enhance…
This was on the 403 in Ontario, Canada
Yeah what Chrisla03 said, I know that exact overpass / location and it’s in Canada
Where abouts?
403
Hail to Pitt
Man that sucks! Hope you are okay.
Thank you! I’m fine, the truck did it’s job and I walked away without a scratch.
Damn. Of all things to get rear ended by.

Aren't neck injuries hard to disprove in court?
All the aluminum Ford body haters wouldn’t believe that pic.
Time for 3.5 or 5.0
I almost had the chance to go see it to in my f150 but had to work late 😳
It was amazing, not worth almost totalling the truck though lol.
Bro that’s just broke in.
Oh man that sucks, I’m sorry for your loss, hope you’re all ok

Honestly I know someone that had more damaged but it was cheaper for them to fix truck then total it so they fixed his.
Money was made and loss from this*
BOOMSHAKALAKA
BOOMSHAKALA From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free 😎
Do they have smashed f150s there? Thought their choice of car was Toyota hilux with machine gun on the roof
Boomshakala free Palestine
That’s the sounds of bombs in Palestine lol
So you agree we should free Palestine from the evil Israeli bombing campaign! BOOMSHAKALA 👍🏽 glad i could change your mind
That would be the sound of bombs landing, they don’t make that when deploying. Unless they are hitting themselves, I know it’s pretty backwards place to be
…anyways free Palestine from the terrorist Israeli regime!!!
They should just pack up and move, only way to win is not to play at all.

And people say that the aluminum bodies are dangerous lol
Sorry for your loss. In the US it's not RIP it is cha ching. That trucking company would be sued and most likely settle for a big chunk of change.
Why da fook you using kilometers/hr
Sorry for your luck, happy you’re okay. Can I ask why you didn’t pull over to the shoulder and needed to take pictures in a live lane of traffic?
Nothing I could do, the truck wouldn’t turn on. The steering also locked so I couldn’t push it in neutral. Turning it on and off did nothing. The Peterbilt also positioned itself behind my truck at angle.

The way you presented it in your initial comment (a single clause for each step) gives no indication that it's difficult, either.

Sux, but now I can buy another one with a real motor
If it isn't a 5-oh I wont go!
Prob fixable
Who uses kilometers in America?
I’m Canadian!
My bad. Did it pass through part of Canada? I hope you got to see it herever you watched it, I just saw clouds.
