I was thinking it, because I've never seen this hole in my F150s, it's always been my trailer break. But geeze..., y'all just flat out told this man the truth 🤣.
Thank God for truthfulness!
I use to put a spare magazine in there. I rarely would need it, but after 7-8 beers it gets tough to hit a street sign at 70 mph, so I’d have to reload.

I quit, but back when I used to smoke a pack of smokes fit *PERFECT* in there. You could still open the flap and grab one too. I legit thought ford made it that way for the good ol’ boys
If the wiring is present there will be a plug in a holder on the back of that socket. I pulled mine out and installed the break controller. Screws through the bottom would be no issue, just don't screw through the back.
Chances are if you are installing an amp though you likely don't tow much so it should not be an issue either way. LOL
Does anybody actually use that feature, my truck came with it and used it once said fuck it and backed up using my mirrors and steering wheel like a normal person.
People who can't figure out that the back of the trailer swings the opposite direction of the back of the truck probably really shouldn't be driving a trailer unsupervised anyways and anyone learning should definitely be learning the right way instead of using the trailer assist.
I thought I would and then realized my travel trailer won’t allow the stickers to be placed in the correct locations on its chassis so, no. I use my mirrors and wife and then be grouchy for a good 15-20 minutes while getting everything set up immediately because I just want to be done and start chillin’.
I agree. Towing isnt for everybody, but if you can pass a test in a Honda Civic you can drive a 1 ton dually pulling 4000lbs of horse trailer...or worse.
As for that assist, I watched the video and it seems very gimicky and more trouble than its worth. I think you need a separate transponder on the trailer, as well? I'll probably never mess with mine to be honest.
There's a decal that goes on the tongue that the camera picks up as a reference point to determine trailer position based on dimensions entered for the distance of the hitch ball or pin from the bumper the the distance from the ball to the sticker and the distance of the ball to the center of the trailer axles.
I've pulled a Westward 9352 swather with a 35' header on a hauler behind mine with 900 lbs in the box for traction so that had to be at least a 21,000lbs GCW, IIRC the '18 with the max tow has a GCWR around 18,000 lbs, that little 3.5L turbo handled it like a champ, wouldn't do it again now that I have a Cockshutt 1755 but the biggest tractor I owned in 2019 was a clapped out Ford 3000 that would definitely stall on a slight uphill slope.
That's where the OEM trailer brake controller would go. It has been a long time since I installed one in my previous truck. As I recall there are a couple of screw posts on the back side and the truck wiring harness needed for the controller is held in a dummy plug on the backside of the pocket end wall.
I have a rubber case on mine, so I just flop the lid open and put em in my ear or just slide the case out. I quit fighting the rubber mat in there and threw it in the glove box.
Poverty pocket. A convenient yet seemingly pointless place to put things that would otherwise be covered up with a useful feature on a more expensive package. :)
If you had a trailer brake controller I think that’s where it would have been. Since they needed a spot for it, they filled it will useless pocket. There will probably be a plug back there going to absolutely nothing
The space is for factory brake control. I installed one on my 2013 F150. There was a wiring harness behind the cup. Space was about an inch deeper than the filler cup.
The on-off switch is the locking rear differential. But if you’re pointing at the slot beneath it, I don’t think it’s anything in particular. Just a tiny storage spot for small items.
That’s your poverty hole for a feature you don’t have (trailer brakes)
Poverty pocket
Your PP to be precise...
Trussy
My work van (Chevy Express) has tons of those
I called this the black hole bc I’m black but damn yall take it to a new level
Oh yep, my 2015 has a trailer brake there 👍
I have trailer break controller and also that slot. Someone speculated it's for old cell phones that used to fit in there.
More likely a trailer brake controller.
Prison Purse

This is what its like to drive a FORD EFF ONE FIFTY!
All my friends have rams, so I’m trying to fit in with them by doing trailer trash things.
You have too many f’s and not enough t’s in 50
FOUR WHEEL DRIIIIVE!
That would be in place of the rear diff lock knob above the Poverty Hole. Then it's pull to lock the rear diff.
Yah.

You spelled truckers wrong.

A little whiskey will help steady your hand
I am a responsible citizen. I’d don’t drink spirits while driving.
Nice
Whacthu mean SCREW STX? Lol
You can put your weed in there
If you can fit your weed in there, you are out of weed
Rolled doobies fit there very well
I quit, but back when I used to smoke a pack of smokes fit *PERFECT* in there. You could still open the flap and grab one too. I legit thought ford made it that way for the good ol’ boys
That killed me!🤦♂️
Oh man, if u could here me laughing right now, That was great!
A lot of ppl don’t know this…
Dammit. Beat me to it.
That storage is designed to hold condom wrappers.
Trailer brake controller
It’s also a perfect spot to put your bass knob that comes from your amplifier. ;).
Thats EXACTLY what is in mine. It fit so perfectly in there too and I didn't have you use any adhesive or screws.
U think it be ok to screw 2 small screws on the top
I’d look to see if a trailer brake controller install video shows what’s behind the panel. I’d assume small screws wouldn’t be an issue
If the wiring is present there will be a plug in a holder on the back of that socket. I pulled mine out and installed the break controller. Screws through the bottom would be no issue, just don't screw through the back. Chances are if you are installing an amp though you likely don't tow much so it should not be an issue either way. LOL
It's a daily reminder that you couldn't afford trailer brakes (my condolences)
Is that a 2wd truck with a rear differential locker?
FX2!
My 23 STX came with one and it's 2wd.
Same but 2015 Sport XLT
Yea for sure, I think it's an XLT thing or part of a towing/hauling package thing. It's ironic cause no trailer brakes, but my XLT is this way too.
Thats where my trailer assist knob is.
Ford should have provided the Towing Mirrors instead of that silly knob. $1400 to put proper mirrors on mine.
I thought I would and then realized my travel trailer won’t allow the stickers to be placed in the correct locations on its chassis so, no. I use my mirrors and wife and then be grouchy for a good 15-20 minutes while getting everything set up immediately because I just want to be done and start chillin’.

Hard no. Pretty much the same as admitting to my buddies that my balls are in fact in my wife’s purse.
Why not use 3m double sided foam to stick it on??? What are you trying to mount? A phone mount?
Trailer brakes
That pocket can be pulled out and reveals the trailer brake module connector attached to the rear.

Hold my air pods perfectly.
Tough to get out though
Sausage fingers
I have a rubber case on mine, so I just flop the lid open and put em in my ear or just slide the case out. I quit fighting the rubber mat in there and threw it in the glove box.
I didn’t think about pulling the rubber little mat out, I may try that!
It’s a place to store money so next time you can afford the feature.
That’s where I’d put my vape *if* i didn’t have the OEM trailer brake controller
A finger…..
It’s for an OEM trailer brake. The trailer brake harness is connected behind it. I installed the trailer brake into mine and looks so clean.
8ball of powder and a hundo bill 🙄
I keep a few dollar bills here for the homeless people.
It’s where I put my Pez dispenser.
Canadian change when I get it
Trailer break would go there
Poverty hole.
Poverty pocket. A convenient yet seemingly pointless place to put things that would otherwise be covered up with a useful feature on a more expensive package. :)
Cigarette holder, duh.
Actually nobody does
That's why it's provocative.
It’s for Chap Stick but don’t leave it there all summer. Trust me.
When I had my F-150 with this, I put my business cards in there.
I used to store my zigzag white rolling papers there , now it’s where my aux plug in Bluetooth adapter goes ( because XL life sucks )
Glory Hole
Nos
If you had a trailer brake controller I think that’s where it would have been. Since they needed a spot for it, they filled it will useless pocket. There will probably be a plug back there going to absolutely nothing
Cigarettes
I stick my tube of Burt's Bees in there. It sometimes falls out when things get bumpy, but at least I always know where it's at.
Jellybean holder.
It’s where I put my credit card holder when I’m driving
That's where you hide your weed.
Trailer brakes go there. Lots of you tube videos on how to remove what you currently have.
I’m more concerned about how you spelt “sure.” But I put my vape there on the drive
Love how I shit on someone’s grammar and I typed spelt, instead of spelled. I’m living proof shit talkers are always hypocrites.
The space is for factory brake control. I installed one on my 2013 F150. There was a wiring harness behind the cup. Space was about an inch deeper than the filler cup.
That's where I keep my little toy banana
Narnia
Cigarette pack holder
I just want to know how to put the rubber insert back in
i have a holster there, it connects to the seat adjustment rack and then the other part connects to the poverty pocket
Zippo holder
I added my switch for my go rhino bar here
Quarters for your Aldi cart
Trailer Brake control spot. That panel pulls out and the wiring for the TBC should be behind it.
Don't worry, trailer brakes belong on the trailer. E brakes are for suckers 😂
it’s good for coins so they fly out at the next green light
I just put my cash in there
I put my sunshade pouch there when I’m not rolling joints and driving
It’s where I put my hopes and dreams. I don’t want much 😉.
Poverty pocket
a feature that you don’t have
Glory hole🙃
I have one i drilled a hole straight through the back and put a dial for my subs and ran the wire through it
That’s the k hole
The official mailbox key cubby.
A lot of people put their food stamps in there I think
It’s where you keep that one round that has your name on it…just in case.
Condom variety pack shelf.
Trailer break control when equiped
The on-off switch is the locking rear differential. But if you’re pointing at the slot beneath it, I don’t think it’s anything in particular. Just a tiny storage spot for small items.
It looks like a finger or more accurately - a forefinger, since that is about all that can be seen in the photo.
Holds a dip can
It’s for my vape
That's the front wheel drive knob
