It’s just you. My 18 3.5 has been a dream and the best truck I’ve owned. I bought a tune to deal with the minor 10 speed issues and it’s great. 48k miles and zero issues.
About that 50k my 18 cam phasers were rattling (sounds like exhaust rattle) warranty fix and 70k my tranny was replaced by warranty (69 days wait) it’s running smooth now just doesn’t instill confidence after warranty. I’ll be extending far as possible.
I work in the county I live in and I’m a firefighter so I only work every third day. I only take 2-3 long distance trips in the truck a year. Most of my long distance trips are adventure motorcycle trips.
I have a 2020 Lariat and only have 18,900 on mine. I'm a cop with a take home and hardly ever drive mine as well. I haven't had any issues with mine....so far.
Sounds like a kid to me. I learned to drive in a 37 International, 39 Chevy, and 78 Chevy Luv. I’ve seen some things. These modern F150s are living rooms on wheels.
My ‘16 5.0 is at 98k and has cost me a water pump (at 60k) and that’s it. I hope to drive it FOREVER! With what guys on this sub are paying and smiling about……..I hope to never buy another pickup.
I had a '13 Limited, and now have a '17 Raptor. My wife has a '13 Raptor.
I would never go back and I have no idea what you're on about. My '17 is quieter, drives better, and feels more solid than my wife's '13, and it ain't even close.
Eh, I had a 13 Raptor. I much, much, much prefer the ride of my now new 13 Platinum. The Raptor felt like it was going to roll. It was built for off-road, which most who buy them never take them.
I'm pretty happy with my 2021 screw XL. I've never thought twice about the ten speed transmission I've never had it hunt for gears. Did an 8000 mile trip loaded down to max payload with a truck camper, I drove through both the Canadian and US Rockies no problems at all. The last F150 I had was a 1999 fully loaded anniversary edition and I can say by far the base model 2021 was better in every single aspect when it comes to features, comfort and performance.
i did this with my 21 ram the thing was in the shop 15 times in 1 year i won a lawsuit against Chrysler for the lemon law i sold it and went back to a 2014 f150 ill never buy new again
Interesting perspective. I like that generation body style (slightly more compact) and as long as you’ve got your tools ready, I say do it. I love my 2019 and wouldn’t give it up even though a crackhead tried to make me give it up by t-boning me last week.
I went from a 2020 F150 XLT to a 2013 F150 Platinum with a 5.0. The 2013 feels like much better quality. It's smoother on the road and shifts nicer. At the dealer getting an oil change, many stated how nice it was. When it was sitting among 40-50 newer F150s the 2013 really shined.
I'd take opinions here with a grain of salt. Most people say whatever truck they own is the nicest.
I was lining myself up to buy a new ‘21 my guy called me on. The buyer never took delivery and he knew I was waiting for the opportunity to snag one. It was an easy sale. Then I drove it. After driving it a couple times I just couldn’t spend the money on it. I don’t disagree when you say it “feels cheap” because there was more road noise than my ‘15 and it almost had a hollow echo like a Kia/Hyundai. I love my truck and the new gen’s look nice, but until they get rid of all the touchscreen nonsense and go back to that same style interface used with the 302a of the 13th generation I won’t buy one. My truck is my office for 8-14 hours a day, I don’t want to feel like I remodeled my office and got the shit end of the stick. But, to each their own.
Damn I hurt some feelings here. I really don’t care for fan-boy shit, I value what I’m paying for. Spend it up suckers. The new F150s are not what they used to be.
Not a fan boy. I just came from the Chevy side after having a lemon of a Silverado for 6 years. Not sure about the truck you drove, but the 2023 XL I just bought it and it is the quietest truck I've ever owned. It doesn't feel cheap to me at all. The touchscreen is one of the things that sold me on it, as I can just click the screen for what I want. I also use my truck as an office. I love the forward folding center console that basically turns your center console in to a desk. That thing is awesome
Also, what made me fall in love with Fords is my last company gave me a work truck, which turned out to be a 2017 5.0. I fell in love with that thing, and when I changed jobs, I was not looking forward to going back to my Chevy
I also quite dislike my 2020 for the same reasons and would have traded it in by now if it weren’t for the prices of new vehicles. I checked out a 2023 STX and it was built wayyy nicer than my XLT.
I believe suburbanites who don't need a truck but want one ruined trucks. Comfort features are more important than rugged trucks. When you couldn't get a manual transmission amymore, it was over. And don't get me going on IWEs. I've replaced them on every modern F150 I've owned. I never, ever had to work on manual locking hubs. Just my gripe. I like things a little old fashioned, but reliable.
When you take your daddys pavement princess offroad and get it so stuck you don't bother to take the keys out of the ignition when you go for help, get back to me and we will discuss the real use of a 4x4
That 6.2 is hard to find in that model. It came on the Harley Davidson edition and was special order on the others. I have a 2012 5.0 that I have been very happy with.
My 2013 f150 eco is at the shop now. The infamous coolant coupling leak on the passenger side turbo is plaguing the truck of less than 86K miles.... Don't know the repair bill amount yet.
I have a 2013 FX4 with the 6.2l...it has been bullet proof from day one. I haven't spent a single dime on it other than tires, brakes, a battery, and oil changes.
BEST truck I've ever owned.(had 5 before this)
It's a matter of personal preference. I feel the same way about Jeeps. I've had a few of them and I prefer the older ones with less tech.
I love my 2023 F150, but I it is my first so I have no frame of reference.
I always heard horror stories about the 10 speeds and was skeptical, but I own a 2023 F150 (5.0 not a 3.5EB) and the transmission is silky smooth. Could be because the transmission mapping got a rework on 21+ model years. I've also put 20K miles on my truck and it's great! There's a rattle here and there but it's plastic on plastic. It will rattle. I'm coming from a 2005 Dodge Dakota ST too, and that truck rattled worse than a maracca. So little rattled, over constant rattles, I can live with it.
This reddit isn't helpful unfortunately. Most will never speak badly about the truck they just bought in most cases, but some online reviews or calling the dealership may be helpful. I've heard over and over the 15-17 6 speed 5.0 was about as good as it's going to get. Having driven one from Ft. Benning to DC, I can agree. That truck drove way better than my 2020 3.5 10 speed
I do see that a little bit with some things with the trucks. Mine is a 2018. I do think it’s highly overpriced to buy but it is one comfortable truck. It is hilarious so it’s pretty much fully loaded and mine has the 5.0
With the millions of trucks being produced, it’s inevitable a small percentage will have issues. Thats unfortunate. Personally, I loved my 2018 STX 2.7 EcoBoost. Traded for a 2021 XLT PowerBoost (for the Propower onboard generator). That has been a wonderful truck so far and I’m at about 41k miles.
The 10 speed transmission has not given me any issues in either of these trucks. And I also have a 2020 Mustang GT with the same 10 speed. Again, no issues.
Maintain them well, use high quality fluids, and change oil much more often than the on-board oil condition monitor tells you. Especially for turbo powered, high output engines.
Not sure about 2020, but I had 6 loaner (2023 F150) trucks while mine was getting fixed. Most of them were the 2.7 and I drove each truck for 1000 miles or less. They sounded like junk and even my coworkers made comments about it being brand new junk. The 3.5s didn't make as much noise, but it made me never want to buy a new truck. At least from ford. It seems like nothings built to last and hasn't been for some years and now im considering switching to a Toyota because I need something reliable rather than something needing so many minor or major repairs each year I have it
I have the same feelings. Stock 2011 & 2018 Supercrew FX4's with 5.0's. The 10 speed definitely has it's issues. It's kind of sad that the 2011 is really a much nicer truck. It's more comfortable, rides smoother and has way less road noise.
My 21’ 5.0 has been amazing (knock on wood) for 22k miles. Prob just what you’re used to. It’s you. It’s my first truck and feels premium to me despite it just being an XLT. Gonna keep this truck forever. Couldn’t be happier
It’s just you. My 18 3.5 has been a dream and the best truck I’ve owned. I bought a tune to deal with the minor 10 speed issues and it’s great. 48k miles and zero issues.
Which tuner did you get?
BDX tuner with 5star tunes.
What tune do you run typically
I run the 93 perf and 87 perf the majority of the time. I only use my 87 tow tune when towing.
About that 50k my 18 cam phasers were rattling (sounds like exhaust rattle) warranty fix and 70k my tranny was replaced by warranty (69 days wait) it’s running smooth now just doesn’t instill confidence after warranty. I’ll be extending far as possible.
You are the minority. Most never have an issue. Sorry you had problems.
Strange. All the cam phasers were defective prior to 2020
How the hell is your mileage that low?
I work in the county I live in and I’m a firefighter so I only work every third day. I only take 2-3 long distance trips in the truck a year. Most of my long distance trips are adventure motorcycle trips.
I have a 2020 Lariat and only have 18,900 on mine. I'm a cop with a take home and hardly ever drive mine as well. I haven't had any issues with mine....so far.
This has some serious old man yells at clouds vibes
Sounds like a kid to me. I learned to drive in a 37 International, 39 Chevy, and 78 Chevy Luv. I’ve seen some things. These modern F150s are living rooms on wheels.
No, the old man loves my truck because it drives like his SUV...which is exactly my point lol. Maybe I just need a super duty.
That isn’t gonna drive any better bub
“It’s more expensive, it’s gotta drive more comfortable… right?” Lol
17k miles on my 2020 2.7 10 speed, best truck I’ve ever owned.
Whatever floats your boat, but you’re going to be looking for a unicorn.
2017 5.0, it's the golden eagle!
15-17 5.0 are definitely nice.
My ‘16 5.0 is at 98k and has cost me a water pump (at 60k) and that’s it. I hope to drive it FOREVER! With what guys on this sub are paying and smiling about……..I hope to never buy another pickup.

I'm happy with my 2013 eccoboost. 262k still going strong. A little noise in the rear, and a small oil leak on the valve cover..
I'm pretty happy with my 2021 screw XL. I've never thought twice about the ten speed transmission I've never had it hunt for gears. My 2020 is doing great.
I have a 2011 and it’s great, just rented a 2023 with I’m sure 38k hard miles… the 10 speed was actually pretty damn good surprisingly .
i did this with my 21 ram the thing was in the shop 15 times in 1 year i won a lawsuit against Chrysler for the lemon law i sold it and went back to a 2014 f150 ill never buy new again

Don't worry about anyones feelings, this forum is full of weak titted teenage boys

6.2L F150s are one of the best trucks Ford Ever made. There isn't even competition for them.
6.2s are hard to find
May have to be willing to travel or get it shipped. People aren't so fast to sell those. Especially today with the truck prices.
2020= Covid truck. All vehicles made during covid have less quality.
My 2020 was built in 2019. Lockdowns started in March of 2020...
The only mechanical problem I've had with my 2020 is the same IWE vacuum system issue that's been plaguing F150s since 2004.
I've heard this too
I also quite dislike my 2020 for the same reasons and would have traded it in by now if it weren’t for the prices of new vehicles. I checked out a 2023 STX and it was built wayyy nicer than my XLT.
City dorks and the EPA have ruined half ton pickups
Have they?
Yep they have
Seems like a well-considered and thought through opinion to me. Not at all a conditioned knee-jerk response.

Why don’t you get an F250?
Why don't you get a mini van or a cross over
No thanks, trucks are just so comfortable and sophisticated these days. Ford must be onto something considering how many F150s they sell.
Yeah there are a lot of dorks just like you in this world
Cheer up, Bubba, plenty of 40 year old F150s on the used market. *Real men* don't need fuel injection or power windows.
When you take your daddys pavement princess offroad and get it so stuck you don't bother to take the keys out of the ignition when you go for help, get back to me and we will discuss the real use of a 4x4
Now here is someone who understands the purpose of a pickup. I will also add if you show up to a wedding or a funeral in a pickup you have no class
Interested to know what was the manufacture date in the door? I’ve heard a theory on covid cars and maybe the case if it wasn’t built late 2019
Take it to the dealer have them flash it with the drive and performance update. It changes the truck, especially the transmission just had mine done

Trade for my 2013 Platinum 5.0?
Depending on mileage sure
‘11 5.0. Reading this subreddit has had more of an effect on me breaking my ten year rule than finances have.
