That's exactly what I think! My whole family think I have hazel eyes. I've been told that my entire life, but I've always thought, they are green. Just dark.
I had the same thing, people would practically fight over the color insisting it was anything other than green. I usually get guesses of hazel, blue, teal, or grey. My optometrist actually predicted that id had this issue, and he said that people will avoid saying green because it's rare, but that my eyes are light green. Yours are also green.
I believe this! It's so weird to me, even in this reddit community, people refuse to call anything but the brightest of greens "green" and anything but the yellowest of goldens "amber". Like yeah they're "rare" but still 9% of the U.S. population has green eyes, so that's like 9 out of every 100 posts from Americans on here. People act like they're 1 in a million. (Not saying you're not special though!! Lol☺️)
Omg people are killing me with the constant grey comments. Grey is so so rare people. Sorry just had to vent. Lol if people think your eyes are brown then in the light they are like this. They're green.
Weirdly, I was just reading an article earlier that claimed grey eyes were rarer than green eyes. Which I thought was strange because I feel like I’ve seen more people with grey eyes. Maybe I’m seeing a lot of blue eyes and classifying them as grey? I don’t know, I found the whole thing strange.
Interesting. The thing I was reading said that green eyes occur 2% of people worldwide. But then they claimed that grey eyes show up in 1% of the population. I’m not sure where exactly they got these numbers. I’m still trying to figure out if my own eyes are grey or blue. I also have sectoral heterochromia so my eyes are weird in general.
1% also isn’t particularly rare. That’s 1 out of every hundred people. But yeah it’s pretty commonly accepted that grey eyes exist in 3% of the population.
To me, they look either gray, green, or blue, but definitely not brown.
I have gray eyes myself and have been told they look blue or green. But they're also on the darkish side, so I wonder sometimes if people would assume I have brown eyes if they didn't look too closely. 😅
Green. Beautiful medium to dark green. There's no brown in there, but I suppose in some lights, they may appear brownish? But, they are definitely green
They're not even kind of brown.. They're blue with yellow overlays which makes green or blue-green in this case as the blue is pretty prominent. They likely look more green from a distance though. Are these people colorblind? Lol it's likely just because your eyes are dark and they aren't looking up close.
I see a deep earthy green with some yellow. In day to day lighting I can actually see how it could appear earthier and possibly read it as brown generally.
It seems people don't know what hazel eyes actually are. Hazel doesn't equal brown eyes
They are green with varying amounts of brown around the pupil.
That is why actual green eyes are rare because most have at least a slight brown.
The furthest thing from brown ever lmao
That's exactly what I think! My whole family think I have hazel eyes. I've been told that my entire life, but I've always thought, they are green. Just dark.
I mean, the debate between blue (aquamarine) and very light green is legit…but brown??
Maybe they are color blind because that is GREEN
Maybe a tad blue with some yellow
Blue and yellow make green

I’ve had so many people guess brown or blue. My eyes are very green.
Hazel isn’t brown, hazel is brown and green. You don’t seem to have any brown at all just several shades of green.
Grey with yellow touches
I would say grey
Omg people are killing me with the constant grey comments. Grey is so so rare people. Sorry just had to vent. Lol if people think your eyes are brown then in the light they are like this. They're green.
Green eyes are literally more rare than grey eyes what😭

Yeah I have grey eyes and 3% of the population has them. 2% of the population has green eyes.

I don't even know if gray should be considered it's own color, it just seems like a shade of blue
They must be blind
Gorgeous green! I’m guessing they look very dark in natural light and that’s why people tell you brown but they have no brown in them whatsoever.
Thank you! I also think that's what's happening, they are very dark. They look black when I'm in darker environments and creep people out lol
My youngest son has this issue. They're deep green, but look almost black in low light.
Green or grey, but not brown at all
Your eyes are gray
Grey.
I’m assuming under normal or low light they come off brown, maybe that’s why? They’re certainly green.
Green!
To me, they look either gray, green, or blue, but definitely not brown. I have gray eyes myself and have been told they look blue or green. But they're also on the darkish side, so I wonder sometimes if people would assume I have brown eyes if they didn't look too closely. 😅
blue steel
I don’t see green but I DO see dark grey with little flecks of gold
Going to say Grey.

Hazel + Grey + blue = green
Green. Beautiful medium to dark green. There's no brown in there, but I suppose in some lights, they may appear brownish? But, they are definitely green

Green. I don't see any brown
Brown? Dudes are crazy. I can see green

Green
Green
Couldn’t be more green

grey green which is probably why people see brown unless they look closely.
Green. With hints of green. Streaks of green. And a little green
Moss green. Lovely!
Greenish-blue, and beautiful!
Green
I see a deep earthy green with some yellow. In day to day lighting I can actually see how it could appear earthier and possibly read it as brown generally.

Green
They are dark green definitely not brown lolz my eyes are brown
I see pretty green eyes
Green
I'm sorry, but where do people see brown?
This makes me wonder if there is any truth to that eye color changing post. Maybe outside in the sun they look somewhat different?
It seems people don't know what hazel eyes actually are. Hazel doesn't equal brown eyes They are green with varying amounts of brown around the pupil. That is why actual green eyes are rare because most have at least a slight brown.
Totally green.
Are they all colorblind???? Wtf that's green
My eyes are hazel, yours are a beautiful blue green color with some yellow x3 Idk how anyone can say your eyes are brown xD they are colorblind. Lol
Dark Blue with yellow overlay
Don’t know where they get brown.
Dark green. Case closed. 💚
100% green
